Honor 8 Hard Bricked - Honor 8 Questions & Answers

Hello,
My honor 8 is hard bricked, yesterday I wished to install custom Rom and it was encrypted so I decided to return to EMUI, I installed stock recovery I installed rollback package to emui 4.1 and emui 4.1 now i'm stuck on boot screen. I already do a format data and wipe cache but nothing.
Please help me.
EDIT : I can go to ADB but I have this message when I try to flash anything... "FAILED (remote: Command not allowed)" FRP is locked

Please help me I'm so bored about this problem

There are some guides on how to unbrick phone with FRP locked... You could try to watch on them.
That's mine guide

The problem is when i use ADB command it wrongs me
"target reported max download size of 471859200 bytes
sending 'recovery' (36996 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.894s]
writing 'recovery'...
FAILED (remote: Command not allowed)
finished. total time: 0.903s"

If you can't find any solution with ADB, as a last resort you could use DC Phoenix to fix it. But it costs 15 Euros to use it. That's what I had to do fix the same problem you have.

Go with dload method. Try downloading the full firmware for your model and use the 3 combination to flash. There is quick guide in my signature if you are not aware of the exact method for dload.

You can enter in fastboot, by pressing volume down when the phone is powering on and holding the button, immediately insert the usb cable (already plugged in the pc) and you will enter in fastboot.

When you enter in this shell, you are not allowed to use ADB commands, but only fastboot commands, previously you typed adb devices, now you can't. But if you type fastboot device it will shown you your id number plus device, just try if what i sad is true

Made fault while trying to root the Oneplus One

Hello!
I was following this guide to root my new Oneplus One: highonandroid (.) com/android-smartphones/how-to-root-oneplus-one/ My operating system is Debian, thought it would be easier on that one since I don't have to install drivers.
Everything worked until Step 9 where I had to do this: "sudo ./fastboot-linux flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.7.1.1-bacon.img". I get this error message:
Code:
target reported max download size of 536870912 bytes
sending 'recovery' (0 KB)...
FAILED ()
finished, total time: 0.000s
Then I tried the next command: "sudo ./fastboot-linux erase cache" This one worked... :silly: :silly:
Now my phone takes forever to boot, i.e. it doesn't. Only fastboot works...
I tried it on a Mac as well.. but I just get the message "device loading" or something like that. What can I do to fix this? I have no idea.

ok I am confused so you went to a different site to root but came to xda to ask how to fix it? Have you asked over there as well. Also I am assuming that those are commands for a Mac? If so may I suggest you do some searching for a mac tutorial here in xda and a mac tutorial on how to fully restore. You may need to push imgs back to your phone.
9 Steps for rooting seem a little excessive for this phone

[Q] Hardbricked CM11 Verizon M8

I was stuck in a Clockworkmod Recovery Bootloop after an otherwsie successful install of CM11. Had everything all set up the way I like it, and bam, I tried to power down but could not, it just went to clockwork recovery, screen on. So I searched for solutions and sadly, tried this in the terminal:
"echo boot | dd of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p3 bs=1 seek=0"
Now the phone appears to be hard bricked. :crying: Cannot hold volume up, down, or both in combo with power switch, and, there is no orange led indicator when the power is plugged in. Any help would be deeply appreciated.
Thanks! AB

It shuts down and I have to hard reset to get it to show up in the device manager. But that does seem to indicate that fastboot is working. Would something like :
fastboot -c "echo boot | dd of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p3 bs=1 seek=0"
with the 1 and zero replaced with the right variables work? (Confessing that I don't know what the right variables are).

If you know the version of the rom, simply download that version stock rom and then extract from it the recovery using Huawei extractor tool and flash that recovery using adb. After that put the stock rom in a dload folder and put it on your sdcard or internal memory after that turnoff the device hold power and vol up and vol down at the same to make the flash process start and flash the stock rom. Sorry I am on the road and quite busy otherwise I would have written a detailed guide. But if you Google what I suggested you will find the tools needed to make it work. If still you can't manage to make it work let me know. After 2 days I would be around a pc to write a better guide.

You need to make sure your bootloader is unlocked otherwise it won't work. If your bootloader is indeed unlocked then it could be a PC communication issue try to reinstall drivers of the phone, even better try it on another PC/Laptop with a fresh install of drivers and applications needed.

That's normal, in order to see your device using adb commands it needs to be turned on and working properly also the developer mode needs to be enabled in order to see your device code serial number so in other words it's not possible at your current situation.
Regarding the device drivers just connect the device to the PC and let it auto install the drivers needed make sure Hisuite package is installed before that.
The only commands you can use at your current case with the phone in bootloader mode is only fastboot commands. So just try to flash the stock recovery like before and hopefully it will work out. If it does try to flash the same stock rom using the dload method. I cannot at the Moment give you a step by step I am really sorry but if you google the things you need you will find it easily.
Edit:
Similar issue maybe it can help you.

Bricked from only FastBoot mode

Hi to All,
and thanks how can to going out from this situation wiht my phone.

- I try to get the unlock password from the huawei website, but i can't becuase i don't have the Product ID
I don't kwon what i can do anymore, do you have any idea? Is there any other way to get the Product ID or the unlock " password"?
Please help me i'm really need to have my phone back for works reason.
Thanks again to all.

You have to dload your original firmware. Just extract update.app from update.zip then copy it into dload folder in your sdcard

Please give me some info.
1. What is the firmware before your phone has a problem.
2. Without any success means? What's the error message you got?
i was on B330 and try to turn back a previous version and goes successfull without any error but at the restart was looped on the huawei logo.
with DC unlocker the programm says that i'm still on B330.
I would like to try flash boot and try to recovery my phone but i'm stucked from this " password unlock" that without a product ID i can't have it.

You may try to flash "you previous firmware" via fastboot.
Extract boot.img , recovery.img & system.img update.app
Type:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash system system.img
Then you may try to factory reset
Shutdown your phone. Press and hold volume up + power (do not plug any usb cable). Release it when you see Huawei logo.

Then no choice you have to get bootloader code. Maybe you can email to huawei customer support to get bootloader code or the fastest way to unlock is using DC unlocker. Search for other thread about DC unlocker if you have issue.
Wow you peoples information is from space !!!

Bricked Google Pixel 3 XL

Hello, I have a Pixel 3 XL phone with bootloader locked, unable to enter Recovery Mode or unable to start it.
I tried to put factory image through fastboot but I recieve an error saying that the bootloader is locked.
Prior to that the bootloader was unlocked but I wanted to lock it.
Anything to do about it?

You can get to fastboot but not recovery?
Yeah if you can get to fastboot then unlock the bootloader and flash the factory image

I can enter fastboot, but when I press to enter Recovery Mode the screen goes black and that's it, nothing happens, same when I press Start.
I can't unlock it because I get an error: failed (remote: 'flashing unlock is not allowed')
Was it 100% stock when you relocked it?

I would open the stock recovery on the PC and try flashing the factory image from there.

I seem to remember from my Pixel (original) days that there was some trick to re-locking the bootloader or you would encounter issues.
You might consider searching the original Pixel's subforum here at XDA for that thread and see if the suggestions in it apply to you.
I think this might be the thread.
Read through it to see if anything can help you.

The bootloader on your device is pre-release? Not sure at all, love to get some schooling on where that bootloader came from. Where did you get the phone? From the Ukrainian with the stolen batch from Foxconn? Wow, I am getting Alex Jones like too quick or what? Lol

A friend of mine bought this phone from a website similar to eBay.
The software was stock.

Of course when in recovery it's all black. You have to hold vol up and power then menu pops up.
Since it's already a brick, try fastboot flashing unlock_critical

If the Andorid Robot picture appears, pressing the Power key and click Volume Up once will bring up the menu, however, his screen is black..? I get the robot, but yet to see a black screen. Good tip cuz that may be his way out of this mess.
Regarding the older bootloader, wouldn't the newer bootloader in the current factory image upgrade it? OR (put my custom made tinfoil hat on now) Google has blocked the stolen phones from firmware updates or bricks them..? Toots and Farts, you're screwed. (Taking hat off now)
I've always unlocked my pixels right away (lucked out on my VZW Pixel XL) and haven't encountered BL mismatch unless downgrading locked BL from other manufacturers.
There were at least 120 stolen phones sold prior to launch and unless you bought it from Google or an authorized carrier, I am suspicious..?

But, wouldn't he need to Go to Developer Options and enable OEM unlocking first?

People have already done this on working Pixel 3 XL's and all it did was returned an error.
I've gota a vague recollection of needing to format before flashing the image in this situation. Anyone confirm our deny?

True, that didn't occur to me. But since it was unlocked prior it may still be unlockable.

Being a possible dev unit it might not error out with said command. At least that was my thought process. Doesn't hurt to try anyway? If it fails, it fails. Can't hurt to try.

I just soft bricked my PXL3; this means access only to fastboot ( is under warranty ) and you can get it back with fastboot flashing unlock critical then flash the factory image i don't get it why you can't
I thought flashing unlock critical was p2xl and not applicable to p3xl? And was your bootloader relocked prior to softbrick?

Update your adb tools on your computer and try flashing stock images again. Then reboot.
Help, i'm dealing with an issue too, everything was working fine, rooted with magisk , turned off my phone to charge, it reached 100% turned it back on, and it won't boot up, I see the G logo with a grey loading bar white background screen it does this for a few minutes and it reboots and gives me a screen that says "can't load android system. Your data may be corrupt. If you continue to get this message you may need to perform a factory data reset and erase all user data stored on this device" . I don't want to do a factory reset? WTH is going on here.
The last major change i did is install greenify4magisk but i didn't enable it (unchecked in magisk screen)
Help!
Edit: How do i do rescue OTA?
