For starters, if there is already an answer to this question, please point me in the right direction because I have looked all over the forums and cannot find an answer. I was wondering if anyone could help me return my Nexus S 4G back to stock. I was in the middle of using one click stock when my power went out and now my phone just sits at the bootloader saying "fastboot mode-no boot or recovery img" and one click stock does not work.; meaning, it will sit and ask me to put the phone into debugging mode. I have also tried manually flashing the files from fastboot but it sits at sending file but does not flash. Even let it sit at the sending screen for 3 hours but it never flashed.
Maybe a brick. The same thing happened to me once, no img's, fastboot not working and a broken power button. I just got it back from a free repair

Well, is your bootloader locked/unlocked? and try to do it manually with fastboot, at least you know that things are done correctly.
unlock bootloader is : fastboot oem unlock
lock is: fastboot oem lock
you could try to switch once and try to push the recovery image so you can flash a new rom.
Thanks for the help. I relocked and unlocked the bootloader and it did the trick. I was able to manually flash everything back to the phone
Glad I could be of help

Hi. i have Nexus 5 sim free version. it was on 4.4 later upgraded to 4.4.1 followed by 4.4.2. till 4.4.2, it was great. a day before yesterday i received 4.4.3 OTA update and installed it. after installation,
1- phone started to hang a lot.
2- unless i push power button and re press it, phone remains hanged.
3- i tried flashing 4.4.2 but it stucks at boot loader screen as well and certainly i can't use power button to un freeze it.
4- phone starts well sometimes but there is no display but only colorful dots instead of screen, if i press and re press power button, start screen comes back.
plz help me to find a way so i can flash back some earlier android version.
thanks

flash the factory img http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/general/tutorial-how-to-flash-factory-image-t2513701
and what do you mean sim free nexus 5? all nexus 5 have a sim card slot.
Flash the 4.4.3 factory image and give it another try. If it still has problems just flash an earlier factory image. And if it still doesn't work you have a hardware issue

What do you mean? Does it successfully flash but just never boot?
Did you Flash all the factory images? Or just system and boot?

have you tried unlocking the bootloader? maybe try to unlock it then flash the factory img. or you can try unlocking it, flash a custom recovery, superuser, and a rooted stock rom(maybe this will work for you?)

OK but you Flash the images whilst in the bootloader mode. What does a frozen bootloader look like? What was the output error message when you used fastboot to flash the factory image?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
i have unlocked bootloader after couple of tries because phone kept on freezing even in bootloader mode. but as soon as i put phone in bootloader mode, it freezes. everything was fine before 4.4.3 OTA update. phone shouldn't freeze in bootloader mode. i think that 4.4.3 update has also corrupted recovery.

it looks like that nothing is working, neither touch nor physical buttons. i can't change options with volume button. i.e. start, recovery, etc etc. u know what i mean. once in bootloader, one can change the options via volume buttons but i can't. on pressing the power button, phone restarts.

Boot to bootloader. Connect USB. Fastboot flash full factory images. If there is an error. Tell us what it is. If you cannot flash the full factory image, you'll need to send it for repair

Try and boot into your "backup" bootloader. You can get into this by holding Volume Down AND Volume Up AND Power. You'll notice it is different bootloader because the bootloader version is different from the one you get if you just hold volume down and power.
Maybe that will work?

Hi,
I bought a moto g 4g LTE to my wife for her birthday. Everything was ok until she install the 4.4.4 OTA update.
After this, the device was not working as good as before : lots of force close, sim card not detected, can't power off the device by pressing power button, only reboot...
I decided to manually flash the stock 4.4.4. Once more, everything was good.... until yesterday. We wanted to backup some pictures to the computer then everything gone wrong, like the first time... Can't power off, sim not detected, force closes...
I flash again de stock 4.4.4 and after tried to install CWM recovery. Everything seemed to be OK but I couldn't boot to recovery. From bootloader or from Windows. It's the same with TWRP. (fastboot flash recovery *****.img)
Each time there is a black screen with sometimes few white lines through the screen and nothing more....
Any idea to fix this and get a functional recovery?
Thanks a lot.

Of course I unlocked the bootloader, otherwise I think I couldn't flash any ROM. On each reboot I have the Motorola advertising.
Thanks.

hello'!!
i have a micromax a066 running android 4.4.2 kitkat'!!
i have rooted my device using kingo root. now i am unable to unlock bootloader of my device. after pressing power+vol.up+vol.down button (recovery mode) the bootloading option doesn't appears. The recovery mode have option of updating rom(which stucks at half), setting up backup n rest. even though m unable to unlock bootloader through windows command prompt. Using the CP m able to start my device at fastboot mode but, it stucks in the 2nd step. that is unlocking. please help'!!
Probably it means that your bootloader is unlocked already just check it.

no. it isn't
the device reboots and the black screen with"fastboot mode" appears after giving the first command. But after giving the second command it doesn't moves ahead, I mean the confirmation message doesn't appears in which we are supposed to select yes or no by pressing volume up and volume down key. So, evrytime i try to unlock bootloader i use to stuck at that black screen and left with no choice but unplugging the device and taking out the battery. After i unplug my device the command prompt shows up a message, somewhat like this- "error <source<too many links>"
:/ please help...
In recovery there should be an advance option inside that you have reboot to bootloader option.

when i start recovery mode' it shows an android doll(the green one) with open stomach :silly: and "no command" written over the screen... then after pressing power button it shows up 8 options'!!
1) reboot system now
2)apply update from adb
3)apply update from sdcard
4)apply update from cache
5)wipe data/factory reset
6)wipe cache patition
7) backup user data
8)restore user data..
hence, the option you mentioned above is not available'!! :/ :/
Ok.
You must be using adb oem unlock command to do that previously.
In fastboot mode

hmm... thanx for the help buddy'!!
but this device is not so famous so the ROM's are not available even at the XDA-DEVELOPERS
but next time i'll make sure that i'm buying a famous one'!!
actually... i was planning to buy a "HTC Desire 826"
in next few days.. so i decided to learn rooting, flashing n all other techniques in this BOLT'!! so that i'd have less risk while flashing HTC but it cannot be done now'!!
any was thanx for the help'!! ^_^
Your bolt is not waste just find a person having same device and if he is roited say him to make a nandroid backup of his rom on your sd card and done. Take your sd card and restore from that. Your device will work like a new set and you will have both the sets
My nexus 5 just turned off and is stuck on the boot animation. I am able to access the bootloader and have already tried to wipe cache and performed factory data reset but the phone is still stuck on the boot animation. I have tried to unlock the bootloader with 1-click-nexus-5-bootloader-unlock as well as CF-Auto-Root-hammerhead-hammerhead-nexus5 tools but after I accept to unlock thebootloader, the phone reboots and gets stuck on the boot animation. The bootloader status remains locked.
I really need to fix this issue and I would be grateful if anyone could help me out.
Thank you
Okay instead of using those tools can you please go into bootloader and try unlocking it using normal fastboot commands (I think it's "oem unlock" or something to that effect). See what happens after that.

I tried the oem unlock method but it didn't work. Every time the phone reboots, it locks the bootloader.

This is a common sign on Nexus Devices that the memory chip is failing or has failed. This means it is a hardware issue, and cannot be repaired without exchanging the device, or replacing the motherboard.
