app screen grid placement problem - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

Hello everyone, I hope its not a problem my bad english. I have galaxy s7 nougat 7.0 phone. Since upgrading nougat, the date and time applications on the application screen stand on different line in the horizontal sequence of the other applications . When I looked carefully I noticed that the date and time applications are on the right line and all the other icons are slightly below them. It happens from time to time and it also heals spontaneously. When this problem occurs, the application names appear to be larger than one point in size. I put that apps in a single folder but it didn't work. I would really appreciate if you could help me.

[Q] Touchscreen lag

Hi everyone ! I'm posting this here as well as in the SP forum because I think this kind of problem isn't limited to one model or brand.
Story:
I recently got my Xperia SP's digitizer changed (apparently most phones don't like faceplants ) and when i got it back I noticed a "slight" change.
Symptom :
When I touch the screen and slide my finger there's a little lag before the move is recorded by the phone, like, I have to move my finger more than 1/2 inch away from the starting point or it consider my finger didn't move from it. (thus resulting in little jumps when sliding through menus or if you wanna draw a circle it start by drawing a straight line ) After the phone catches up however (so, as long as I keep my finger on it) it follow up well just like it has to. It's not related to the latency of the screen (as I said, after the first move and for as long as I keep my finger on the screen there's no problem) so even if it's after a hardware modification I believe it's a software related problem.
Resolution tested :
Through research I think my problem could come from a change between the dpi of the stock digitizer and the one I got in replacement, so the stock touch_slop value isn't adapted anymore. I tried to change it in my build.prop, but it mades no difference and the problem is still here. Although it doesn't mean the problem doesn't come from that (The way Android handles touch_slop has changed in the latest versions) I don't know how to fix it and I need advices. Has someone already encountered that problem ? How can I fix it ?
So, long story short : I need a way to tweak the dpi value of the digitizer that's stored somewhere on the phone.

Notification Screen Tweak

Hi All,
I've just migrated from an iPhone (i've been iPhone user all the while) to a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. One thing that I miss about the iPhone is that notification screen especially for whatsapp whereby it does not lump all together into one thread and it gives you the option to reply from the lock screen.
I am wondering if there are such ability for Android (I'm quite sure that there is). If so , could you kindly point me to the right direction

OPO touch screen issue

Hi
I'm using trying to use the stylus and I get a weird behavior only on OnePlus One phone.
I've activated the "show touches" option in dev settings of OnePlus One, so I see the circle on each touch.
The issue is that the first time the finger touches screen and is moving inside that circle, the circle doesn't move. This makes all drawing apps not register any movement even though the finger is moving. Once the finger goes outside the circle, the circle starts moving and then even very small finger movements are registered by drawing apps.
This doesn't happen on Samsung Galaxy S3 and the drawing happens even inside that little circle from the first time screen is touched. This makes drawing apps very accurate even when writing small letters.
Do you know what might cause this? Is it a hardware or software issue?
I've tried to root OPO, install several mods like CM13, Sultan's mod, SlimSaber or Resurrect mod, didn't solve the issue.
Thank you!
Did you try to change firmware with another one?
I have the exact same problem too and I've tried every firmware every ROM every kernel there is. Sometimes a swipe turns into a tap too. I believe it's a OPO-exclusive hardware problem. It's the most frustrating thing ever

Gboard key borders randomly changed shape?

Something really weird happened with the shape of the key borders on Gboard, and I can't figure out what caused it. I noticed last week that all of a sudden the key borders on Gboard changed shape. They went from the normal rectangles to circles, which looked much better in my opinion. I really wish I had taken a screenshot so I could show an example. But anyways, all of a sudden the key borders reverted back to rectangles. I can't figure out why this happened. I don't think it's due to substratum, as I tried reapplying a theme to Gboard and nothing changed. Does anyone else have any idea what could have caused this and how I can get the circles back? I did a Google search and I could only find one example of this happening to someone in 2014, and they weren't circles. Anyone have any ideas?
Just wanted to bump this. Anyone have any experience with this?
Yes yes
Still no one else with any thoughts on this?
Gboard key borders randomly changed shape??
Same happened to me too
Same thing happened to me too on my s6 edge device. Even fonts changed to some other weird format
Was it a permanent change or did it randomly revert back?
It just happened again! The keys randomly changed shape, but this time I got proof! Here are the screenshots:
As far as I can remember I haven't changed any settings for the keyboard or anything else recently. They look so much better this way, I hope it stays like this. Anyone have any ideas as to what caused this sudden change?
I really thought people would be more interested in this oddity than they have been...
Me too!
Happens to me as well, mine are completely square right now. They were rounded earlier today. S7 edge.
Im still fascinated by this. Does anyone else have any more input or theories on where this glitch may be coming from?
Happened. How do get the circles to come back?
It happens when I switch battery saving mode on and off. (Galaxy s8)
I have been trying to figure this out myself and consequently landed on this post. Still no solution found. I liked the rounded keys better.
Yesterday however, I noticed that the keys changed shape as per the changes they had to make to accommodate additional bar on the keyboard (e.g. numbers row) or while opening and closing something on screen that forced the keyboard expand or contract.
The smaller the keyboard had to get, the more rounded the keys were. Larger, more square.
May be try changing the size of the keyboard?
Okay, so, very oddly, I have found out that the keys go into the rounded version when the Medium Power saving mode is switched ON (samsung galaxy S9). And back into square shape when power saving is turned OFF. Tried and tested several times.
I fail to understand the logic behind this !

What road to smaller screen / Apps?

Hi Guys,
Long time user of Sonys Compact phones here, so I'm custom to small screens and one hand operation of my phone, i HATE that I have to use two hands, and the manufactors thinks that we all loves big screens..
Ok so I bought a Google Pixel 4a, but for me thats also to big.
I have tried to set the display resolution via adb wm Size function, it works like a sharm, but the phone centeres the display, and google have for some reason removed the overscan function i version11, so I cant set the display to be on the bottom. "damn you google"
I have also tried the Quick cursor app, but its so slow to use all the time.
Then a thought, is there a way to force all apps only to be X pixels high, and fixed at the bottom of the screen? I dont want to ever reach over a certain point of my screen.
Or is there another way to solve my problem?
We are seeing our selfs as a smart race, but creates devices that needs two hands to operate?! jeezzee
PS. No root options wanted.
Kind regards
Morten
May be Android's Split Screen mode is a workaround.
BTW: On ChromeOS, Android apps can be presented in freeā€‘form windows that are arbitrarily resizable
