Samsung comes with an app file explorer. I think it's called "my files". I personally use EStrongs file explorer since it has network functions.

Any of the file manager apps like astro, es explorer, or Samsung's file explorer can be used to manage...I organize all my documents by placing them all in the Documents folder on my SD and Internal storage (mostly on my SD). Some document apps like acrobat will save docs and pdfs in their own folder until you direct where to save...Just move the Documents to your preferred storage with the fil e manager app...

You can hide your folder, but you can't protect it with password. At leaste for now.
To hide your folder on your SD card you have to use Astro File Manager. Create new folder and rename it ".nomedia" - without quotes. On some phones you have to do restart.
So if you put pictures/videos in that folder, gallery don't show them. No thumbnail pictures either.

Actually, there are two ways (well, there are more, but I think these will do for now).
1. Just place a . in front of the folder name. Eg. /sdcard/download becomes /sdcard/.download
2. You can place an empty file titled .nomedia in the folder you don't want seen by the gallery and video apps, etc.
I'm just wondering is there an app that can transfer files over wi-fi? back when I was on iPhone, they had apps that allowed you to wirelessly transfer files from your PC to your phone. searched around and nothing came up.
Also I'm on CM9, is there a way to NOT sync your media that's on your SD card to the Gallery? I've only found how to not sync it with my emails. When I was on stock, the gallery didn't sync with my SD card.
Thanks in advance.
Air droid, WiFi file explorer etc. there's literally loads lol, where did you search ?

The sync issue is simple to fix also. You create a file called .nomedia and place it in what every directories you dont want to sync.
I just enable the FTP server feature in ES File Explorer, that way I can still use Windows Explorer to copy files to my phone.

So I have a main folder and then a sub folder. I created the .nomedia in the subfolder which contained what I didnt wanna sync but it still shows up in the Gallery. If i make it in the main folder then nothing syncs in the Gallery, not even the camera roll.
Did you reboot and fix permissions?
Every program for Android seems to use Documents as a default place for docs. Of course Hancom Office uses "My Documents" can sum links or something be used to have my documents point to documents so that hancom sees all my files without having to navigate to documents?

Well I know FolderSync on the PlayStore would work, and does work, however there might be a better way that I'm not aware of.
Is there an app or extension to allow my Google drive account to be accessed by the native file manager? I have a few large files I access frequently and I would rather not download them to my device every time in order to use them

That's not really what I'm looking for. I'm not looking for an alternative file manager, but something that would have my device see Google drive as a physical storage device like an SD card. Kind of like how it works on a desktop
I'm also looking for this. Something like it mounts cloud storage to the device.
Firstly you will need to be rooted. When you save files offline in Google Drive, they are saved to
/mnt/sdcard/Android/Data/com.google.android.apps.docs/files/pinned_docs_Files_do_not_edit/*CRAZY FOLDER NUMBER*. You would have to navigate to that location to access the file with your file explorer.
I recently got root and was moving some apps to the sd card and accidentally deleted my documents app thinking it was the "Google Documents" app for text editing, when it was actually the default file explorer on the moto 3, android 6.0. This is pretty bad because a lot of apps direct me to this app (for instance to choose a backup file like in "reddit is fun"). The documents app then instantly crashes because it's not there. It also crashes randomly everyday.
Can I download an apk of the documents app somewhere? I already searched but couldn't find any. Does anyone maybe want to get an apk file from there documents app?
tl;dr: deleted documents app, need it back
