So I just received the new update (B398) which also updated me to EMUI 5.0.1.
Now my tethering doesn't work. It turns on but only works for about 10 seconds and after that I'm unable to load any web pages until I reconnect to the phone again. Tested on Mac, Windows and an XBOX One.
Anyone else having the same issue or an idea on how to get it to work again?
Did you try factory reset or reset app setting preference?
Yes, both. Tethering is still not working. This is the european variant. Bought in Finland. Anyone else having the same issue?

Europe, anyone?
I have also that problem with wifi hotspot and EMUI 5.0.1. Strange was that the problem did not occur while on one operator (Elisa, Fin) but a week ago after I changed to other operator (Telia, Fin) wifi hotspot did not work anymore. Other devices can still connect to Honor 8 hotspot, but connection is unusable. Huawei knows about the problem with the latest update and at their flagship store in Helsinki they instructed that it can be fixed with downgrading to emui 4.1. They weren't able to give any information about timetable fo fix. Maybe they haven't found the bug. I went back to 4.0.1 and tethering has been working, but that was not what I hoped. I hope they can fix the problem soon
Same here
Hi, I just bought a honor 8, also from Finland. It's running the same version of android and emui. Having the same problem in the phone. So if you figure out how to solve this I would appreciate it a lot! Has anyone tried the bluetooth tethering?
You need to contract Honor about this issue, them the details of the issue (build number, phone model..etc) hoping from them to work on an update

Which operator you are using? Was the Android 7 / Emui 5 on your phone when you bought it or did you update it after purchase?
I guess bluetooth tethering would work. I didn't try it, but I can confirm that usb tethering did work on Android 7 / Emui 5.

Honor (Huawei) does know about the problem but for some reason they have not been able or willing to solve the issue. I am so pissed at Honor I gonna drop by their flagshipstore today and bother them with some questions concerning the update
EDIT:
I dropped by the Huawei/Honor flagshipstore in Helsinki and they claimed that there should not be any problems with lates OTA update. This sounded strange since when I asked in November if the available update (B360) has fixed the wifi tethering, the answer was no. Well, I just took a leap of faith with update since the staff at flagshipstore said I could bring the phone to warranty service if there would be problem. To my surprise wifi tethering is now working on Emui 5.0 and Android 7. :good: It's bit strange that they don't have this version available at their website nor do they have any information concerning the problem or fix. My current firmware is FRD-L19C432B360.
Too bad, they're not taking their customers as a priority

Hey guys,
If anyone's interested, my P9 just received the OTA for L09C636B361. This is on an unlocked/unbranded Australian handset. Obviously, I've immediately started the download...
Time to start mashing that "Check for Updates" button if you're in Australia I guess
Excited! Time to spam the update button

Nothing yet
Might want to check tru HiCare , and go through the early adopters button ...
Still nothing, sure I'll get something eventually..
i have the l09c34b140 and i live in australia (got it from virgin mobile australia on plan). is there anyway for me to convert to yours?
I am on EVA-L09C34B140 as well, heres hoping that we will get some Nougat goodness soon. I got Android 7 running no my old S4 and cant wait till the P9 officially gets an update.
I'm on the same EVA-L09C34B140 and also nothing yet. I bought my P9 outright, but it came with an annoying Optus boot and shutdown screen that I was hoping be rid of with an update, although I'm not too sure that'll be the case.

L09C34 is the Optus version, I got mine outright as well. I dont understand why Huawei will make an Australian model for Optus, a different model for Vodaphone and a unbranded model. They should of just made one model for all of Australia and a tool for carriers to put in their own boot animations.
Chances are, we will not get an update till Optus push through an update for this model. The model the OP has (L09C636), probably has his update pushed through by Huawei directly.
Ah, figures - a familiar story. I had the same issue with my old SG Note 2 which would have been waiting ages for an AU update via Telstra, but rooting it with a Nordic ROM saved me 18 months of waiting. I guess I have to suffer the Optus boot screen post-update though.

dyu reckon we should debrand and just install the unbranded model (if possible) or do we just idle :/

If I could practice on someone else's Optus-tainted P9 first I'd then give it a go on mine
The process appears rather more convoluted than my previous Android ROM flashing experience. I think I might wait a bit longer.
i'm on exactly the same firmware( C636B190, which is updated from B168 through OTA) as the OP had before receiving B361..
However I had received nothing.
I bought mine outright at JB HiFi and got the OTA on Thursday night - posted to Whirlpool as well. I received notification when I checked the update entry in settings. Not an early adopter nor rooted or downloaded via the HiCare app.
As for the different firmwares blame that on the carrier not Huawei - Optus, Telstra et al are always slow - best check their websites or ask their Twitter/FB accounts for the timeframe.
Loving the updated EMUI 5.0.
Unbranded Australian C636 here and still on B190, check for updates button nearly getting worn out!!
Got the Nougat update last night. Notification details are very hard to read. Almost white on white text. Anyone else got this, or knows how to fix it?
See screenshot attached.

@Tecalote is working on the Nougat version of the NewWorld rom. Chances are, he will probably release this before Optus roll out the EMUI 5.0 update. If you really want EMUI 5.0, you can always flash L09C636B361 via the Huawei tools, then it will be a debranded AU version.

Hi there,
I just received my Honor 8 from Gearbest with the stock firmware FRD-L09C636B130.
The issue is that doesnt matter which region i choose the OTA updater doesnt find anything. Its frustrating since everyone else is already running Nougat.
Does anyone know how to force the update?
PS: I currently live in New Caledonia, which is a French territory on the Pacific.
Thanks!!
Be sure to update the HiCare app to the latest version. Then you will receive the Nougat update in 1-2 days. I received mine the day after purchasing the phone and upgrading HiCare

hi. i just had same situation and solved it with "HW firmware finder" . i cant assure you anything but you should try . so far Nougat and emui 5 is great.
64gb , bought from gearbest, so i thInk we were In the same situation.
firmware : B130 → B360. dont forget to backup your data.
you can install an app called hw firmware finder on google play store. you dont need bootloader unlock or anythIng like that. basically app helps you to OTA update manually. there is an thread about how to use this app. so you can fInd it easily

Nokia support just said that the 8.1 update will be coming soon with a May 2018 security patch.
Something that seems to work for some people is to remove your sim card, disable the GPS, clear the cache and data of carrier services under the apps menu (you'll need to click on the three dots and show system apps first), clear the same for Google Services Framework, reboot, connect to the Belgium server using Psiphon Pro (a VPN app). Choose to tunnel whole device. You could also try other locations like Germany and Denmark in Psiphon Pro. Some people have found that if it doesn't work, a factory reset prior to connecting to the VPN has triggered the update, but that's pretty extreme. Let us know if it works, as I don't own the device and I'd be interested to hear if it's effective.

Sorry, but I didn't try the factory reset method but the rest of the steps didn't work for me on my phone.
I just skipped the update !!! in Spain TA-1046, downloading !!!
I've just got the update. Can a mod please close this thread?
I have been using this phone for a week now in India. Haven't recieved the update so far. I'm also bit tensed as I am unable to register my phone for Android P Beta program as well. It shows that my device is not eligible.
Just got the update, had to remove sim and reset the phone, ta 1062 received 8.1 Orso at boot.
I am on the 55 model, still stuck on February security patch and 8.0, not even a VPN has helped, no idea how to get this thing to find the 8.1 update.
I'm on the 1055 in Australia. Got the phone a week ago and when I was doing first setup it didn't let me continue until I did the 8.1 update. So mine showed up during setup.
I'm in the UK, bought the phone unlocked and using it with EE. Switching to an O2 SIM temporarily made the update appear literally immediately.
Hi mates, I have a p20 and currently I am on EML-L09 8.1.0.135(C40), and I have seen in firmware finder that there is a version of Android Pie that my telephone supports EML-L09C40E6R1P11B239 (9.0.0.239) I want to install it but through the methods of firmware finder I haven´t been able to get it( dns, proxy ). Is there any other way of installing the firmware? I have it on my computer. My bootloader is locked. Thanks in advance.

Hi!
Afaik FirmwareFinder only supports Androidd 8.0 not 8.1. But I had the same problem and the final solution was pretty surprising. At first I called the Hotline to "accelerate" the update. That's a method that can be applied by Huawei 8 weeks after the rollout of a new version. They promised that I would receive the update within 2-4 week. Nothing happend. So I continued searching the web and stumbled about one tipp. "Change your Sim-Card."
Yeah, sure, that can't be the reason, I thought. But after 2 more weeks I ordered a Prepaid-Sim, replaced my normal one, rebooted and here they were! 3 Updates in a row straight to Pie. I shared my solution on a small german forum and it worked for 3 other guys as well.
It's possible that I'm totally, totally wrong but it's worth a try. Good luck!
thank you very much for answer I would try it asap!!
