So i just dont know if im looking for the right stuff or what..
Id like a rootable ROM for debloat and performance reasons.
I have a Galaxy J7 SM-J727U..
Just got it from the store and i can find barely any info on this Model.
Does it have a different name? or just no development for this device?
Thank you
I've got the same phone, and I'm in the same situation. I've got 15 days to return it if I can't find a viable root option, but it seems decent for the price. I've gone through a lot of the steps for trying to root similar models, and in every case I simply can't flash anything with Odin. It gives the error "secure check failed". Everything I've looked into about this seems to point to the "OEM unlock" option under developer options, which this phone doesn't seem to have. I would also love to know if there's any potential for progress on this. I'm willing to put in some research and testing, and I'll let you know if I find anything anywhere else.
The U usually stands for UNLOCKED(as in any network/carrier)
Does not necessarily mean the bootloader is unlocked which is likely if the result is 'secure check fail'
What are the specs of this device and country of origin?
Anyone please say the exact CPU used in ths model. SM-J727U.

That's wrong, sorry. I saw one of the YouTubers Boost Mobile variant (J7 Perx) of SM-J727 with installed Snapdragon 625. I've sent this question to the Samsung support in Twitter, they've confirmed my suspicion of the Snapdragon-based US device. But I was unsure. And here I am completely sure of Snapdragon 625 inside J7 2017 US version.

It was my understanding he is in Ukraine, and there the j727u is the Exynos model, as is the US j727u. The j727p and t models use the snap dragon chips

Yes I am the Ukrainian resident, and her we can obtain the SM-J730F. This is a real Exynos 7870 device. But yours J727U might have a different one.
EDIT: One of the users said that there is indeed Samsung Exynos 7870 inside the unlocked model. Meh. From the wompshmack's post the Download Mode looks to be verifying the signatures.
I have a J7 that is SM-S727LT. I can't find anything on that either

Can I ask you to look for CPU model in your phone? CPU-Z should provide it.

A bit offtopic, but there also is the SM-J727S model, which is the Samsung Wide 2 (or J7 for Souh Korea, sold by the SK Telecom carrier), there is TWRP for it. The CPU is also Exynos 7870.
Theoretically the same rootmethod can be used. Can anyone test?
ANYONE ROOT AND TWRP J727U ?? HELP.. i see no option to enable oem unlock also why.. got my htc rooted then if failed screen damage lines ect fault of too many drops i guess so got this galaxy thinking it will have a twrp ect as its a galaxy yet i find nothing, my luck..
also it was consumer wireless carrier, i cant find prepaid cards for this why ? annoying.. i can send a few to a paypal for help here.. tried odin flash twrp pop says fail.. adb commands the phone so can i flash twrp like that on command prompt.. i need twrp for j727U BUT CANT FIND IT lol
Is there anything for the SM-J727U?

Unfortunately the SC-03J has a Snapdragon chipset which isn't currently rootable
Exynos variants are the only ones you'll be able to root.

Half correct. I dont know about the Japanese version, but HK/China Snapdragons are likely to get rooted at some point.
What's for sure is Samsung locks the bootloader of its Snapdragon S8 in the US and Canada. So indeed these variants most likely wont ever be rooted.

Japanese phones are usually heavily locked down. I remember 2-3 years ago there was a lock on top of a locked bootloader, on top of an 'unrootable' ROM/device called a 'Miyabi' lock - 3 locks. Not too sure if things have changed.

Hi, I was wondering whether or not I could flash the J3 Emerge (J327U - Unlocked ROM which has Oreo) on J327P (Sprint/Boost variant). From what I know, the U version is the unlocked version so I'd expect the J327P to be able to handle it. Thanks

You could try it, some different sites say it has Exynos 7570 in which case it likely won't work. Also be careful because the Boost Mobile variant has SD425 but sprint has SD430, but both are still J327P.

That's something I thought about, in any case, I'm attempting to port LinageOS 15.1 to the J327P. I'm now trying to build a device tree.
Purchased a S7 advertised as a NiB 930A. Showed up flashed with 930F but the markings on back of phone were 930A. I know in most other threads, folks recommend it be sent back to seller, but he has offered a partial refund to make it right.
My main concern is security. I don’t know who installed what on this device. Would reflashing it be a reliable method to get this device back to stock and ensure it is secure?
Any other recommendations? I would like to keep it if possible and maybe flash it to 930U.

Install "android phone info" from playstore or "cpu-z" and identify which cpu the device has, you will then know what you can and cannot do with your phone.
G930F=Europe
G930A= USA AT&T
G930U= USA (Exynos) Unbranded
CPU Exynos = Brilliant
CPU Snapdragon =Nightmare.
It's snapdragon att

Try flashing G930U but you'll always get limited reception in a different region than the USA
Thanks for the suggestion. I already sent it back.

The G930U is snapdragon, the USA doesn't have an Exynos model
Would it be possible to flash an SM-N970U US model phone snapdragon version with an international, Chinese, or other version firmware to get root and then overlay it with English fonts etc... just looking for a workaround for root?
That may work. But I wouldn't risk it. As some of the modem drivers maybe different
Would that really maybe work? I feel like someone would have thought of that already. But man, it's tempting to try.

Unfortunately the two models do not share the same CPU... So it would absolutely brick your phone.
Thanks for the feedback guys....nothing ventured nothing gained

Every site I checked said the sm-n9700 has the snapdragon 855, which is the same as the sm-970u and u1 have.

It would be nice if you provided a source for your claim, since I did so. For example, you could say: "I own the n9700, and it is exynos", or "I'm there engineer that designed the note 10, and the n9700 is exynos"
Someone who has the n9700 could check with cpu-z and settle this dispute.

But I think that site says sm-n9700 is snapdragon.
The Hong Kong Note 10 is a Snapdragon, one of the few international variants with bootloader unlock and snapdragon. Not sure if it would work, otherwise people would do it. Good luck if you try, but be careful.

Hi,
I was wondering if its possible to flash US unlocked firmware onto the unlocked dual sim Taiwanese variant of the Note 20 Ultra 5G (SM-N9860).
There are certain features like Samsung pay that is somewhat limited for me because its still shows the region as Taiwan.
Of course I don't want to brick my phone but wanted to see my options in terms of changing the region to a US version.
Also, just to confirm, there is no way for this 5G variant to get 5G with US carriers, correct?
Thanks

VPN does nothing when the Samsung services are based on the CSC. I have PIA and Adguard but this will not work.

SAme question here.. can anyone help please? also can anyone help in this issue:
I am living in UK, have note 20 ultra 986U1. all 5g Bands are not active, on android 11 (UI3.1) there was a way to access to service menu and enable all 5bands. and I was using the 5G here. now, I updated, and that can not reach seavice menu to enable right 5G band. anyone has any idea what should I do? even I can not flash with UK rom, as UK rom is for Exynos, but mine is snapdragon. any other idea maybe? or other rom that works with my phone and also enabled 5G bands?
do you think if I just change the CSC , my problem will solve? if yes, which CSC I must flash and how?
