I have been having intermittent issues with Bluetooth audio cutting out on my Captivate while I am on a phone call over Bluetooth. I believe the problem stems from Samsung's inability to do anything right and their implementation of Bluetooth 3.0. A new feature of Bluetooth 3.0 is the ability for a Bluetooth connection to transfer data over Wifi if both Bluetooth devices support 3.0 and have compatible Wifi chips. Samsung implemented this poorly, not a real surprise, and now Wifi is causing the Bluetooth data transfers to be spotty causing streaming data, voice calls or audio streaming, to to be adversely affected.
I was able to finally narrow down the problem. I received a phone call yesterday on my cell phone and I picked up the call on my Bluetooth enabled home phone. The call sounded horrible, noise and the other caller was cutting out, but not enough that I couldn't understand the other person, so I continued the call. The person on the other end did not seem to have any idea that the call sounded so badly, so it seemed to be something limited to my end. During the call, I went over to my Captivate and turned off Wifi. Instantly, the call cleared up and the quality was good to excellent.
I use Wifi all of the time especially at home, so I wasn't going to be turning off Wifi all of the time, so I needed a workaround. Using an App called Setting Profiles, I am able to have Wifi automatically turn off anytime I am on a call and then when the call is completed it turns Wifi back on. What's even better is that the app will note the state of Wifi before a call, so if Wifi is already off before a call, it will not turn Wifi on when the call is ended. The Tasker app will allow you to do the same thing, so if you already have Tasker you won't need Setting Profiles.
This tip will probably only work on the Samsung Galaxy S line because these phones use Bluetooth 3.0, where most Android phones use 2.1 or earlier and do not support Bluetooth file transfers over Wifi. I have only experienced it on the Captivate so I can't say if it will work for any other Galaxy S phone.
Since both wi-fi and BT uses the same 2.4Ghz frequency, interference maybe anticipated although new BT hardwares are pretty good at reduce such interferences.
Did you try change your wi-fi router frequency/channel so that it won't interfere with your BT? Try that so that you may not need to turn off wi-fi on the phone at all.
I have had the issue occur in my car while not near any Wifi router. Also, the router was still on when the call quality improved. It's not like the radio waves from the router and three other Wifi devices in my house disappeared around my phone just because I turned off the Wifi on my phone.

Thanks for the tip
I had a similar problem on CM ROM's on Mt4G, but that was because of poor strength of WiFi in CM kernel - it would disconnect the WiFi.
With G2X, it stays connected, and the Bluetooth is connected when on WiFi calling, but sound only on the device - not through the bluetooth. Calling on Network - Bluetooth works fine.
I am in home office, so use WiFi most of time.
Another issue - but probably not the G2x- Google voice dialing really sucks. Also was the case on MT4G - used Dragon Diction/Genus App - much better. Trying a market app, but not as good as D&G.
Works for me. I turned Bluetooth on first, and then Wi-Fi calling.
i syned my earpiece to BT had to restart the phone now it wont pair or find the device when i hit scan

May not have tried it that way yet - will give it a whirl.
I have a similar issue relating to bluetooth and wifi...here is my issue:
If I have both BT and wifi tether on it works, but as soon as i turn off WiFi tethering none of my BT devices will connect untill I reboot
I am also having trouble with my blue tooth. I use a handsfree device in my car. It syncs the blue tooth but seems to mute the sound. It doesnt work.
Hi,
I'm from Italy and I have a Nexus 5 black (16GB). I have bought a BT speaker, the KTS-07, and it has BT v2.1. I connected the speaker to my N5 via BT and my N5 is also connected to internet via WiFi. When I try to listen music or surf on the net the WiFi connection goes down. The problem is the speaker, I mean, more correctly the BT connection.
I tried to connect the same speaker with my laptop and with a Kindle Fire HD, and in the same scenario of my N5 the BT connection and the WiFi connection work great... So, there is a problem with my N5, for sure.
My router has only one band at 2,4 Ghz so I can't test the WiFi connection at 5 Ghz. But, my N5 is affected by an issue between WiFi and BT connections, right?
Anyone has noted the same situation? Thanks for all!

No one with this problem?
Hello,
I tried to do the same test with a LG Big and a Nokia 520 and they have the same issue.. What does it mean?
Is anyone else here having a problem where bluetooth switches to loudspeaker when playing music?
I want to find out if this a general EMUI 8 Android 8 problem or if it is specific to the Mate 10/Pro.
For more details, here is the original issue thread for the Mate 10 Pro:

No Problems,Bluetooth works with headphones as long as you hear
Yes, there is such problem.
Wifi and connectivity speed drops even when Bluetooth module is on, without any devices connected, and becomes hardly usable.
Thus if you intend to use any Bluetooth devices together with WiFi, this is hardly a device for you. This is especially the case if you intend to use any of the smart watches of fitness trackers, that become hardly usable due to the repeated disconnections.
I don't know if this is a EMUI related problem, or not (installing Lineage may void my warranty, and i intend to return the phone), but the problem is quite persistent.

I was looking for some answers to my problem and I think this could be related... As you mentioned, when I have bluetooth connected to my earphones, the wifi connection speed drops a lot. It depends on the router though... I have a Virgin SuperHub 2 (UK) and it drops to 4-10 Mbit/s or so... I have done some test at work with a Netgear 6800 and it something like:
No bluetooth: 90 Mbit/s down / 90 Mbit/s up
Bluetooth connected to earphones but not playing anything: 67 Mbit/s / 90 Mbit/s
Bluetooth connected and reproducing music: 27 Mbit/s / 80 Mbit/s
Just checking the speed tests on my phone with the superHub 2 at home, it drops to 7 Mbit/s if it's connected to bluetooth and at around 100 Mbit/s if it's not...
Is there any software fix for this problem or is it a hardware problem?
Thanks!
I've ended up returning the phone, as I use a pebble watch and a fitbit m the time, and a headset in the gym, and then WiFi became intolerable.
I really liked this phone, but after 10 days of looking for a solution I've ended up returning it.
bluetooth phone calls not working
The problem is bluetooth audio for phone calls isnt working, i tested this
in 3-4 vehicles as initially thought this could be problem in the vehicle.
However i noticed the same issue in all vehicles. So this is definitely not
a vehicle issue. the phone audio on calls isnt routed via the vehicles (pairing is fine) -
however if play a song through a music player on phone, it works fine.
i have tried restarting phone several times and also deleted all pairing
and re-pairing the devices, i deleted the bluetooth data/cache as well but
no success..
Anybody have this issue on the honor view 10 ?

I further tried resetting the network settings, still same problem, hi care diagnostics tell me bluetooth is fine..strange!
I am on B160 and no Problems with Bluetooth or Wifi at same time enabled.I test on 2 Vehicles calls works and play Music with the View 10.I test with Youtube over Wifi with Bose Headset over Bluetooth, all working without any Problem!
Hm, I use BLK-L09 and I didn't notice either of those problems. Bluetooth calls work beautifully with my car's built-in bluetooth thingie and I can use WiFi with no problems while using my Mi Band 3. I use Carbon ROM though
I'm on a BKL-L04. I have not experienced any issue at all with bluetooth. I have an LG Urbane connected all the time. I stream music in home and in my vehicle and bluetooth has never caused me any issue - even with wifi on (and wifi does not slow, at least to my perception). Times when I've used my bluetooth headset, I still haven't had any bluetooth issues. (I came from, and still own, an Honor 8. I could barely leave the room with my headset connected to the Honor 8 before the signal would start dropping. No such problem with the View10. In fact, I have much more range in my house on my headset on the View10 than I did on the 8). My View10 is completely stock, no root.

Hi my problem with bluetooth started all of the sudden , it was working fine all the while - it isnt anything to do with using with wifi.
The problem simply put is bluetooth pairing and song streaming works fine, but through bluetooth phone calls audio isnt working - very strange!

make sure you go into permissions. then mic. Make sure its turned on for carrier services. just found that out this morning
Hi all,
I have a 2008 vehicle in which Bluetooth seems to be a problem depending on which ROM I have installed on the device.
I'm currently on Android 9 OB 7 and Bluetooth connects and stays connected through incoming and outgoing calls. Works flawlessly.
However, with for example Lineage (among others), the Bluetooth pairs, but connection drops soon after or drops after the first call with the car stereo showing "Net Search", meaning the car BT lost service but the phone Bluetooth is still connected. I've tried restarting and resetting network settings but no luck at all. Changing dev options doesn't work either.
I'm thinking it could be a Bluetooth stack difference?
Is there a way to replace the lineage Bluetooth with OOS?
There is no bluetooth.default.so file that I could find
Any help or direction is appreciated.

I am having the same issue with 9.0.2 OOS. So not sure if this us a compatibility issue with more than 1-2 years old vehicles or something else? Glad to hear that OB7 is working fine for you. Hope fix is coming soon. It's simply annoying.
I am having car connection issues as well. I have a 2010 Ford Edge. Just moved from Sony Xperia XA1 Ultra on Orea to my first OP device - OP6 Pie 9.0.2 - I can connect to my car initially but once I turn off my car, I have to go through a series of reconnect steps. I called tech support and we spent about 45 min troubleshooting - of course I was told I was the only one who had complained of this issue - anyway no resolution. The only way I can "reconnect" is to go into my car's system settings and select "connect to BT device" then toggle bluetooth off and on in the phone - sometimes this works with the first go, other times I have to repeat this cycle 5 or 6 times. Simply selecting "previously paired devices" in the phone app doesn't work either.
Really a pain in the tush, because I am usually in a hurry and don't have time to go through all this scenario to get a connection.
On the other hand, I have a bluetooth ear piece (made by Samsung that is like 5 or 6 years old) that reconnects every time I turn it on, no problems.
Car connections too but was not present in omni
I found for stock, performing a network reset (mobile, wifi Bluetooth) then restarting the device fixed the Bluetooth connection issue.
For custom non-stock ROMs, for my issue at least, I found its not a Bluetooth issue at all but rather the mobile network drops and the car Bluetooth cannot reconnect. The same network reset as above does not work but what does work is toggle off the "automatically select network" and manually select the mobile network from the menu that pops up. This keeps the mobile network intact (until the next device reboot, at which point repeat the steps) with the car and all is good.
I only figured it out by accident; hope this helps others.
