ROM Update to address Blueborne Bluetooth Vulnerability? - Huawei Mate 9 Questions & Answers

Hi all,
Does any know if Huawei is releasing an update soon to address the Blueborne Bluetooth Vulnerability? Thanks!

We can only guess. My guess? They will but not soon enough. I'll be surprised if we see one before December.
Sent from my MHA-L29 using XDA Labs

You are right! The update cannot come sooner.
The Android Security Patch Level for ROM MHA-L29C636B188 is at 5 Aug 2017. Does any one know if any of the latest ROMS have any newer Android Security Patch Levels? Thanks!

We can hope... I have a daily search reporting back to me any news on a Mate 9 ROM update.. got this, today..
http://gearsofbiz.com/huawei-mate-9-oreo-update-release-possible-soon/83683

My guess is: another month from now.

Contacted support, could not get a response. Suggest everyone to ask them ASAP.

where do you have found the B196? I didn't find anything on funkyhuawei or FirmwareFinder

Contacted Huawei. Their response was:
Thank you very much for contacting Huawei.
Pertaining to your inquiries, we regret to inform that we yet to receive any information at the moment.
Do rest assured as we are committed to ensuring the quality of our products and compatibility with the hardware, and are now rigorously testing the software adapters with the devices. Updated software versions for all affected devices will continue to be released via OTA.
Not very helpful response in my view.

Thanks

I will upload a B198 Rom with Magisk soon

Can we flash a C636 device with C432 ROM? Else, will probably have to wait for the update for C636 devices. I wonder how long will that take.

Just to follow up. There is a B189 ROM update for C636 devices that incorporates Google's September 2017 Security updates. which addresses the Blueborne Vulnerability. Great job, Huawei!

I see no reason to applaud, it's taking Huawei way too long to address such a major vulnerability. I hope Oreo's Treble framework will finally allow/encourage manufacturers to get those updates out in a timely manner.

That update is for the BC636 not the C636.
So we still wait.

As displeased as I am with Huawei's slow progress addressing Blueborne, I would not trade my Mate 9 for anything else currently in the market. My next smartphone will surely be a next gen Mate series.

Update - B189 now appears in FF but it is not authorised for me.
BUT, I went to Settings/System Update and bingo, B189 OTA downloaded and installed.
Go figure, at least I am covered for Blueborne now.

As I have said above the nougat update for the P2 has been announced today by Lenovo. There is no more information at the moment just simply "Date to be confirmed". I expect it either the end of this month or early April.

Check your eyes dude. P2 -> Android Nougat 7.0 -> Release Date to be confirmed. Moreover probably it will be 7.1 or 7.1.1 instead of 7.0
Hopefully we get it in early May

P2's OTAs chronicles:
S033_160919_ROW = Released from factory.
S048_161111_ROW = 1st OTA released on 9th December 2016.
S062_170117_ROW = 2nd OTA released on 24th January 2017
Hence...
S0xx_170317_ROW = 3rd OTA on 1st week of April...?

Should my UK phone be updating to Nougat?

I received my UK/Europe phone today and I was wondering if the Nougat update should be coming through? It did a big 450mb update after powering on for the first time but i'm still on EMUI 4.1.3.
Thanks
I've been trying the manual update check for a few hours now, tried rebooting to see if that might help but so far nothing.

It looked to be some sort of security update?
Couple of quick questions..
Did you update it in the end?
Which network are you on? If 3 have you had any probs with 4g calls (VoLTE)?
Dude.
Wait for some days. Also here in Austria we got the Update 2 Weeks ago.
I think is a time delay. How long do you have your phone now?
I do not suggest that Firmware Finder tool. Looks not serious in my point of view.
And that confusion about the lots of updates and files in there? No way...
If you do want do update manually, then do it in a right way and flash it by you own.
Good luck.
Just wondering if you ever got your update. I got the Honor 6x this week and still no update. Am on Android 6 and EMUI 4.1.3. Have spoken to Huawei and Three and have got nowhere. I'm no geek so too scared to use Firmware Finder. Is this my only option??
I'm currently on BLN-L21C432B151
But everyone link posted for nougat or through firmware finder I get
Nrd90 test key and on every reboot I get device verification error no matter which version I install why is this
Three sold me an Honor 6x recently which will not update to EMUI 5 or to Android 7. According to Honor UK Tech support, BLN-L21C432B151 will not update and they have no update in the pipeline. Tough luck seems to be their attitude. Three did not have a clue and will not change the phone. Stupidly (as it turns out) I bought from the Three shop in Canterbury, their take is, "too bad" and if I had bought over the phone from Three direct (or on the web site) I could have simply returned it for a refund. Supported my local shop and realise now that I was a mug, I have no right of return even if you feel you've been "stiffed." No wonder the High Street is dying. Anyway, it looks like we suckers are stuck with what I consider old tat which is outdated from day 1. Thanks, Three and Honor. Now I know who to avoid.
I bought 6x from amazon.uk. Updated to nougat with FF. Had problem with disappeared update app in settings after flashing rom from FF but I found 100-150 MB update somewhere here on xda that fixed it. Since then I am getting all security patches every few months. Did not rooted and not tried any custom ROMs yet. I am getting old I suppose ?

I'd wait, that room in your image it's not Oreo, still nouget. Oreo has started rolling out to the mate 9 so I'd wait until it rolls out to your region, should be sometime in the next few weeks.
That's not Oreo it's just October security updates, and I've had this update about a month ago through normal update. Next update shows as 188 on ff and not authorized yet while other mate 9 versions are getting Oreo.. the wait is Killin me.

I'm gonna wait as my phone is branded 432 and not 636. I guess it would be a pain to rebrand.

You may as well still update as the security patch is probably newer, just keep looking and Oreo will appear soon too
I've manually updated my Huawei mate 9 to android oreo. (Before the update my midel number was MHA-L29, after the update it changed to M300-L29). Is it possible to "delete" this update and to (fully) reset my phone to the previoust version?

You can downgrade using https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-9/how-to/guide-mate-9-flash-oreo-update-package-t3699522
Unless they change it, the "beta" Oreo on mine, is version 321, so I'd guess the rest should be 3xx or higher?
I thought it was a release version, I never signed up for the beta, but about a month ago, I checked the EMUI
default update program on my phone and it popped up, so I installed it. Had I known it was a beta, I probably
would have left it alone. But, it's been pretty good, one little quirky BT problem in my car. If I get out of the
car while I'm using BT with the car, turn off the car, then get back in, sometimes it won't connect. I have to turn
off BT, wait a few seconds, then turn BT back on and all is good. If I spend say 30 minutes or longer out of the
car, it works fine, but if I'm out like pumping gas and get back in, it won't connect.
I'm living in China, I have the MHA AL00 version. I have received the Oreo update. There is no PC Mode

OTA | Magic UI 3.0 | 3.1

From 15.March Honor officially in Europe pushed OTA MagicUI 3.0 a.k.a. Android 10 update.
And from roadmap plan it should def also get 3.1 but we will see, nothing officially confirmed.
It is 30.March but persionally i have not recieved it.
And im curous to see ho else did not recieve it, or who recieved it in Europe After 2 weeks.
Very slow updates. This is my first honor device and 100% last because of this in my opinion it is not normal that you need to wait 1.5years to get some android update.
My mothers 3y.o Nokia 5 bought like for 160€ when it was new, recieved android 10 in January, and just recieved March security update over OTA. So im confused, how can it be. Phone that is 3x cheaper is recieving constant security updates and android updates 3x faster than hi-end Honor devices.
I will start.
PCT-L29, Latvia, im still on 9.1 no OTA
Checked also with hisuite.
