S6 flashing bright screen problem - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi I need some help I plugged in my S6 to gear vr I took it out after a while my screen went bright keeps flashing can't see anything besides bright screen can anyone help me thank you

Probably there's a bug in the VR app or something similar. You should definitely restart the device and it will revert back to it's normal state (press and hold the Volume down, Power and Home keys on the device for 10–20 seconds. This performs a simulated battery disconnect).

The Samsung Galaxy S8 is one of the most powerful and good looking smartphones available on the market right now. I know, the S9 was recently introduced, but the differences aren’t that big, so a lot of people are getting last year’s flagship, for a very good price.
Let’s say that you’re one of them and got it for a while. Suddenly, the Samsung Galaxy S8 won’t turn on, no matter which method you use to unlock it, raising some serious question marks. Is the phone broken? Is something you can do to fix it yourself? Should you take it to a service?
We will find answers to these questions together, through this guide! But first, let’s see which are the actual reasons why the phone won’t turn on.
Why is my Samsung Galaxy S8 not turning on?
Like in most cases, there are various problems causing this, both of them split into two categories: software glitches or technical issues.
Fortunately, there’s solution almost all the time, except when a part of your phone is damaged and needs replacement, so you need to take a phone to a service and leave professionals to take care of it.
Now, let’s see the steps you need to follow if your Samsung Galaxy S8 won’t turn on.
Unlock it correctly
It’s possible for your phone unlocking method of choice to have trouble responding. If you don’t have any authentication method, just hit the Power Button correctly and see if the phone turns on.
Many users reported that, sometimes, pressing it improperly may cause the device not to turn on. Yes, it sounds weird, but it’s something you can try.
If you opted for fingerprint authentication and the phone doesn’t turn on, make sure you’re placing your index (or whatever finger you’re using for unlocking) in the middle of the scanner. It should unlock in a few seconds. Otherwise, the scanner will vibrate for a moment, which means that your finger is not placed correctly.
If these methods don’t work, then move on to the next one.
Perform a soft reset
If you can’t unlock the phone properly and the screen remains black, a soft reset is the next thing you can do. Basically, you’re ruling out the possibility of the firmware crashing or other minor software issues.
On older Android handsets, this was done by taking of the battery and putting it back on, but since the Galaxy S8 power pack is not removable, you’ll have to use another way. Specifically:
Press and hold the Power Button and the Volume Down Key for around 10 seconds
Wait until the Samsung logo shows up on the screen
Give it a few moments until it boots completely
After this, unlock your phone, then try turning it on again and see if the issue appears. If it does, it means that it’s a bit more difficult to fix than you believed. If it works properly though, but you still encounter this issue once in a while, it means that there’s something wrong with the phone and you should try get it replaced.
Charge the phone
Before worrying, you must rule out the scenario in which your Samsung Galaxy S8 won’t turn on because the battery hasn’t been charged.
Therefore, using the charger the phone came with, leave it plugged for at least five minutes and see if the charging icon appears and the LED indicator lights up. If both of these are present, leave the phone charging for a few more minutes and try powering it back on. It should be ok.
If the Fast Charger doesn’t seem to be charging the phone, it means that it has some problems on its own. Try another charger or switch the wall adapter.
On the other side, if none of these signs are showing, it means that the phone is not charging and there’s something messing with it, like a faulty app, for example. If you’re in this situation, proceed to the next step.
Boot the phone in Safe Mode
This method will power up your phone just with the stuff it has out of the box, so no third-party apps or anything else you installed.
In order to put it in this mode, follow these steps:
Presuming that your phone is turned off, press and hold the Power Button past the screen with the phone’s name and model
As soon as you see the Samsung logo appearing on the screen, release the Power Button
Right after this, press and hold the Volume Down key
Continue holding the Volume Down key until your phone finishes restarting
You should now see Safe Mode written in the bottom left corner of the display
Release the Volume Down key
Now you can start uninstalling any app that causes your Samsung Galaxy S8 to not turn on. Start with the ones that look suspicious and see if the issue persists.
Boot the phone in Recovery Mode
Finally, there’s one more thing you can do to troubleshoot the device and see if a software glitch is indeed the reason why your Samsung Galaxy S8 won’t turn on.
Press and hold the Power Button, Bixby Button, and the Volume Up key at the same time, until the phone vibrates
Once you feel the vibration, release the Power Button, but keep the other two buttons pressed
You should now see the Android Recovery screen
Release all keys
Using the volume keys, select the Clear Cache Partition option
Confirm your choice using the Power button
Wait for a few moments, until the phone restarts
If none of these are working, it’s definitely an issue with the screen itself, meaning that you need to have it verified.
Check your phone’s screen
First thing first, you need to inspect the display for any potential damage. Make sure it’s not chipped, cracked or damaged. Such issues can completely affect its functionality.
If you can find any of these on the surface of the display, take it to a service and have it replaced. However, it the issue persists and the Samsung Galaxy S8 won’t turn on even after getting a new display, it’s better to get a new phone, as long as you’re covered by warranty. You’re definitely dealing with a complicated hardware issue.
Hold powerbutton and volume down pressed for 10 seconds. This will reboot any locked s8, maybe it's stuck at boot after your flash.

Samsung S8+ suddenly died

hey,
all the sudden, my S8+ died but I'm not sure if it's bricked or the screen is dead. Please chip in your ideas.
Everything was fine and the screen got black, the phone was still working but the display didn't have anything on it. Top LED was OK.
I tried to restart the device from my memory thinking that it's a system bug and did it.
The phone didn't wake up after that, or maybe it did but I cannot see the screen.
Now, when I hold down the power and vol - key the phone vibrates but no LED or display
if I only hold the power key nothing happens, no led or vibrations.
the phone used to vibrate randomly when untouched with a blinking blue LED. I'm not sure if it still does.
my screen has a crack on top, what I'm thinking is that water got in and did stuff
I need to access my google authorization app, and that is the only reason why I want it to be repaired. But, if it's going to be formatted during the repair work, it just doesn't worth it anymore.

S6 won't turn on, solid blue led light

Hi,
A friend of mine gave me his Samsung Galaxy S6 because he knows I know a bit of smartphone repair. (I have installed a lot of custom roms, replaced screens, batteries, ...)
But I can't seem to solve his issue.
After charging at night, he wanted to power on his phone, and it wouldn't turn on. Only the led shows a blue light. It's impossible to turn the phone off, only by removing the battery.
I tried every option I could find
- Volume up + power button = same as just powering up, only the blue led light
- Volume down + power button = does nothing
- Volume up + home + power button = does nothing
I held every combination for over a minute.
I even tried to connect it to my PC and to get to it using adb commands. but my PC can't find the device.
I used a backup screen to make sure it wasn't just the screen that was broken, and this screen worked perfect on another Samsung S6.
My friend already has a new phone, but there are some pictures on this S6 that have some emotional value to him (pictures of deceased pets for example)
Does anyone have any idea what options I got left?
Or is this phone completely dead?
Thanks in advance
Strange. Seems like you have a damaged partition. Do you see a boot logo when powering on?
e.g.

Samsung
Galaxy S6 (edge)
Powered by
android

Let's start with the simplest.
I hope you tried to:
(1) completely turn off
(2) press and hold vol down + home + pwr.
As you can't get into recovery/download mode, why not try a simple usb jig made with a resistor? This method will turn your phone into download mode again. You may want to use odin to flash a custom recovery and then backup your data.
Here is a short clip on how to use jig:

Soldering and recovering data stored on the nand chip can be a dangerous undertaking. It's advisable to take your phone to a data recovery specialist if needed.
Good luck
Thanks.
I indeed tried to power off the Phonehouse and using the "hold vol down + home + pwr".
I ordered a USB jig on eBay (I'm not the best in soldering, don't have a steady hand).
I'll try it, and hope it works.

power button doesn't work anymore

Help me please, i am in greece for holidays and i can't go in a samsung point
Are you tries restarting phone with button combo?
Using a particular combination of buttons, you can force your Galaxy S10, S10 plus, and the S10e to restart the system. Here’s how to do this.
Press and hold the Power button and the Volume Down button simultaneously until the device screen turns off.
May need to press and hold for more than 7 seconds
It will shut down and restart automatically
If the device screen stays black and you’re unable to see if it has turned off, keep holding down the Power and Volume Down buttons until you feel a vibration.

Thank you for your answer! Unfortunately i tried to force restart with this combination but nothing has happened... it's very weird, tomorrow i will return at home and i will go in a samsung point for the check up. I will write update as soon as i will understand what happened :/
After few days the assistance told me that the cause of the problem was water (wasnt it waterproof?) so i have to change power and volume buttons. Very disappointed
Must still be at the store
same thing
I was looking for some infor. My powerbutton stopped working. The fingerprint sensor works but not the power button. I wanted to take a few shots underwater. Maybe just 10 inches underwater and this happend. Looks like its not so waterproofed. I got lucky that the device was on. It looks like if it get off there is no way to turn it on.

Gear S3 button power on/off problem

Sorry for my bad english. I use google translate.
Hello good day.
I tell you my odyssey.
A month or so ago, scrubbing dishes, my watch got very wet by the bottom of the bottom button. I go into a continuous reboot with an on-screen message that says REBOOTING ... It's as if it got caught. I dried it the best I could and it didn't give problems again. I did all this as quickly as possible so that no sequels were left.
After this mishap for a while if the clock runs out of battery at all and I put it to charge, when it reaches 100% and I remove it from the charging base, when trying to turn it on there is no way. It does not turn on. The only way to turn it on is to put it back on the charging base and press the power button.
Yesterday I put it to charge because it went off completely and when I was carrying a 4% load I turned it on again leaving it on the base. At the time I return and the clock off and the charging light of the base flashing in red ...
I already changed the motherboard and the battery in its day. It is no longer under warranty.
Any idea where to throw? Thank you.
P.S. It has given me to turn off the clock with the 92% battery. Now it doesn't turn on. That is to say that the power button leaving it pressed to exit the shutdown menu if it works but once the same button is turned off to turn it on it will not ...
My problem in a video. In spanish. Sorry.
Currently experiencing the exact same issue with my Gear S3 Frontier. If i keep the top button pressed in, it boots normally and stays there, but if i let go, it acts like its being constantly pressed, and thus, restarts the watch in a loop. Have you ever found a solution to this?

Sounds like you might need to buy and install a new power button connector? They can be ordered online and are quite inexpensive, IIRC. Edit: Yup, still available: https://rounded.com/samsung-gear-s3...ic-sm-r770-volume-flex-cable-gh59-14696a.html
