I bought an LG G4 H810 from a 3rd party seller on newegg.com just over a month ago. It was working normally since I got it until 2 days ago when the screen went dark while I was using it. After this I couldn't get the screen to come back on, and couldn't get any sign of life from it at all. Plugging it into a charger seems to do nothing, with or without a battery installed. Holding the power button for 30+ seconds also does nothing. When I plug it into my Windows 10 PC without the battery in, I get a "connected device" sound within about a second and Device Manager shows "Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008 (COM5)." This goes away when I unplug it, and I get the "disconnected device" sound. If I plug it in with the battery installed, the "connected device" sound happens after 10 or so seconds and Device Manager instead shows "Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)." In either case, it does not appear under "This PC" on Windows Explorer. It did when before it died.
When I got the phone I rooted it and discovered that there's no established way on the forums here to install a custom rom without losing network functionality. I instantly regretted getting the AT&T version, as I have Ting, which uses T-Mobile's network anyway. I had to follow instructions on Ting.com just to get data working with the network. I now regret buying a refurbished phone through newegg without buying an extended warranty.
It would be great if there's some way to get this phone working again, but failing that, I'd love to be able to recover the data on the device. I haven't been able to find much on what might be wrong, but almost all searches lead me to a boot loop problem, which I don't seem to be having. I get no signs of life from the phone at all (no screen, lights, sounds, or vibrations). I might try getting a new battery, but I don't expect that to help because before the phone died, the screen would come on when I plugged it in without a battery (indicating the lack of battery). Now there is nothing.
UPDATE: The seller agreed to refund the purchase price if I send it back, so I that's what I did. I thought I was stuck with this brick.

Hi,
I was just wondering if anyone can give me any pointers on what I could do.
I don't own the device since its my girlfriend's, but her phone is refusing to turn on, tried getting into the bootloader by pressing volume down and power - nothing. This happened after she left it in her locker at work with no problems and upon returning she found it like this.
Charging it up with battery plugged in does nothing, red led shows for about 5 secs then it turns green indicating the battery is charged? Tried taking the battery out and tried to power it from mains, nothing.
When I plug the phone into my computer it does show in devices and printers as a android phone so something must still be working.
Is there any way I can flash a new RUU this way or access adb? I've tried installing the drivers but when searching for devices it says not found.
She didn't let me root the phone when she first got it so it is covered under warranty, however when we phoned HTC to process a repair we told them about a screen crack which she incurred MONTHS ago, but they are now saying she has to pay for the screen to be fixed for the phone to be fixed under warranty even if we don't want it fixed? They can't even tell us how much it would cost either because they have to see it to get a quote :/
Needless to say I'm not very happy with HTC right now and not even sure if they are allowed to do this.
Is there anything I can do to see if I can sort the phone, or do we have to chalk up at least £27 for courier costs?
Cheers

I'm in a quandry. I've had my Samsung Droid Charge for 2 years and while I qualify for an upgrade, I thought to myself it's time to root and see what this thing can do (and hopefully get some extended life out of it).
So I read thru a lot of root threads and how-to's, and was about ready to start setting up, went to connect my phone to my computer with the USB cable that came with the phone (which I have also used for 2 yrs) and lo and behold, there's no connection to the computer. Computer recognizes something trying to connect via USB, but notification on the computer that pops up says "USB Device Not Recognized." Now, when I used to connect to any computer, a screen on my phone would come on asking if I wanted to connect the phone as a mass storage device or media player. That screen doesn't come up any more when I plug in the USB. The phone beeps as if it was connecting but then just indicates that it is charging. I've never had any issues with this before.
I've gone thru the rigamorole of trying different USB ports, different computers, different USB cables. Nothing doing on any of those. Tried setting the phone on "ask on connection" and "mass storage" on different computers. Nothing there either. Tried with USB debugging on and off on the phone. No dice. I have even tried a couple of complete hard resets of the phone, and still will not connect to any computer. Based on some info from other forums I even tried downloading some Samsung USB drivers to my computer (which I never had before and had no problem connecting without), and they don't even seem to install properly. message I get when the install finishes says "Device driver was not successfully installed" and then just shows a list of my printer drivers????? My printers work fine - don't know what the hell that Samsung's Mobile Phone driver has to do with our HP printer.
Spent 45 useless minutes at the Verizon store yesterday only to have their "tech" guy do another master reset, and finally give me the toll free number to Verizon and tell me it was their tech support number. Spent another hour on the phone when i eventually got to a tech support person only to be told that I'm eligble for an upgrade.
Part of the reason I started this process was that after two years, the original battery was draining really quickly with minimal use, and the battery power screen that shows during the charge cycle (with power off) was looking weird - it was showing battery with no charge, then all of a sudden would show partial depending on how long it was connected. Maybe thats what it's always done, but for some reason it looks different to my. So I purchased a brand new battery. For a couple of days it "seemed" like the new battery was holding power, but when I go to charge it, that charge screen is still doing the same thing. On top of that the last two days my battery drained really quickly again, with very minimal use (Went from full charge at the start of the day to about 50% after 5 hours just checking a few texts and emails). I don't know if that factors into why it's not connecting to the computer, but I find it unlikely that both the connection and battery problems are coincidental.
Anyone have any ideas for me at this point? Frustrated by having spent waaaaaaay too much time on this already. I'd really like to go root, but I don't see how unless I can determine how to get this thing to connect to a computer again.
I wish I could help but I'm not a real big phone Tech. I did root and install Tweaked on my wife's Samsung Charge FP8 last night. I'm not trying to throw that in your face because I did have some issues as well. I did have to install Samsung drivers. My windows 8 never told me if it installed correctly so I had to play around with the install until Odin recognized my phone. You may have to plug your phone in and go to device manager on the computer and uninstall any drivers associated with it. My computer would say "removable storage" when the phone was plugged in. Please ask any questions or private message me. I swear my wife's phone runs and looks great now. She was getting tired of it until I got my hands on it, lol. Good luck.

Hello, I bought a Z2 back in November, but it completely stopped working after 6 weeks. No customs ROMs, no root access, nothing. It started lagging, so I was going to restart and it just wouldn't turn on (I turned it off at 32% battery). I plugged it in, and no charging light o anything. I was away from my house for the weekend, so when I got back home I tried seeing if I could fix the issue. Luckily, I still had my old LG Optimus G Pro (that i'm still using). I bought the phone new (sealed in factory packaging) from eBay (never buy from seller "never-msrp") and their return policy is 28 days. They woudn't take it back, and after calling whoever I could to get my money back ($439.99) the bank finally gave it back (they might not let me keep it, I had to send a letter explaining what happened. Still waiting to hear back). So, 2 months after it stopped working, I'm stuck with a broken Z2. To explain what it does: at first, nothing. No lights, vibrations, nothing. Now, if I plug it in, the red light comes on, but if i unplug, it still does nothing. When plugged in, the phone will have a red light, but if I push the power button, it starts to blink very slowly. Like on for a few seconds, off for a few seconds. Different combinations of power and volume keys yield the same result. Pushing the red reset button when plugged in makes the phone vibrate 3 times, and nothing else. not a thing. Pushing it while unplugged does nothing. The computer does not recognize the phone, and the PC Companion won't install correctly (I get an error saying the program did not install properly). So at this point, I don't care what I do with it, I just want to make it run something. Android, Windows, I don't care what. Is there any way I can get this phone to boot up into any OS or is my poor phone done for good?
PS: I called Sony and asked if I could get a replacement, but when I provided my IMEI, they said my phone was from Hong Kong, was never meant to be sold (whatever that means), and has no warranty. So that's no use.
Hi there,

Saturday evening, while I was going to sleep, I saw my screen wake up (across the room) I kind of looked at it to see if someone was calling and saw the boot logo, didnt think much of it and went to sleep.
Sunday afternoon I go to use my phone and it is off, I hold the power button and get nothing, try a few more times, still nothing.
This is a 9 month old 100% stock pixel 2 running android 9
I tried a couple of adb tool kits and of course they dont connect, no adb.
The only sign of life is that the computer acknowledges the connection when i connect by usb to the pc, I found that in device manager it shows it as a qualcom dloader, which sounds to me like it is in download mode.
I assume my hands are tied due to it being stock.
To make matters worse, I went through the process of getting a replacement and google shipped it to an old address and say they cant do anything about it, so now i have a $650 charge on my CC and no idea if i will ever see the replacement, googles phone support is a nightmare, six hours on the phone and on hold with them and got nowhere, the last thing they said is that someone from support will contact me by email.
While trying to find a solution on the web I came across a surprising number of people with the same issue.
Any tips about things to try or even how to get google support to fix the replacement being shipped to the wrong address will be appreciated.
I brought my brother a Realme 5i and he'd been happily using it for about a month (mostly as an MP3 player) and then one day he went to charge it from his PC and it briefly showed it was on 71% but then said it was rebooting and froze on the Realme logo. It was stuck on that for hours, so he left it overnight in the hope that it would run out of power and shut itself off and he could try restarting it after recharging but the next morning it wouldn't come on at all.
It's not entirely dead, as when I plug it into my PC "Qualcomm HS-USB QDILoader 9008 (COM4)" shows up in device manager and if I hold power+vol up (or vol down) for 10 seconds it seems to reboot as device manager refreshes but the screen never comes on but I guess that could just be a small chip that's being powered via USB and the rest of the phone could be fried. I've tried adb devices and fastboot devices and they don't shows any devices connected.
Is there anything I can do to fix this or will I have to try and get it repaired? I bought it from the Realme Direct Store on Aliexpress and it probably won't be cost effective to post it back to China to repair but maybe the UK service centre will accept it.

Well you need to flash your device. Go to Oppo/Realme service center in your area. Or you can get online flashing support after paying some amount. Because Realme flash tool require username and password. Hope it will help you.

Thankfully the service center repaired it under warranty. They had to replace the main board before flashing it, so it seems it wasn't just the software that got corrupted and the hardware actually fried. I asked them to flash it with ColorOS 6/Android 9 rather than 10 and they did, which is great as I should be able to restore my TWRP backup to get it back to how I want it quickly.
As the main board has been replaced, I guess I shouldn't restore any backups of the lower-level partitions (boot, modem, etc.) but will it be OK to restore System and Data or might there be hardware-connected stuff in System that could cause problems?
