So, I'm not sure if it's a Note 8 issue or my old Note 3 causing problems, but whenever I beam photos from my 8 to my 3 none of them show up in my 3's gallery. I can find them using a File explorer, but that's it. The only way they show up in the gallery is if I export them from Snapseed. Any thoughts? Also realized that the Note 8 takes photos in JPG format instead of the 3's JPEG format, it that means anything...Any ideas on how to fix this?

Ok heres what happening.
In a normal scenario, when you are at the Photos and Videos TF3D tab, you can see the pics and videos that you taken. For eg, you took 3 pics and 2 videos and another 3 pics. So the first 3 pics should be in order of 1/8, 2/8, 3/8.
Then the next 2 vids are 4/8, 5/8 and so on. Right?
But I have encounter this problem,
When I'm at the Photos and Videos tab, while the pic is the first picture, its showing correctly at 1/8, BUT
when I'm nearing the video, it skipped the video and the total files become 6, instead of the initial 8. Get what I mean? And at this point in time, when I flick the picture to the next picture, no video files were displayed and it seems like I only have 5 picture files in it. But upon going to the Album view, my videos are STILL THERE!
I sincerely hope I can get some help here as this is driving me crazy....
anyone, please?
Hell all,
I'm looking for an android (preferably tablet) app that can be used to combine bracketed photos from a DSLR camera into and HDR image. Something similar to Photomatrix Pro or Lightroom. I don't always have my computer available so was hoping I might be able to find something for my Galaxy Tab S2 that will do the HDR creation for me. Does anyone know of anything?
Thanks!
Just picked up an S7 duos as an upgrade to my much loved Z2 (still in contention if its a worthy upgrade).
Primary reason is the camera, however, firstly, the auto jpeg's are really not as good as I was expecting (very over saturated, weird contrast effect), so naturally I checked out pro mode and raw. I can get better images out of it and initially the first few raw images I captured I was impressed with. However since then, raw images are now captured at 504x376 resolution??? yet 20+MB in size. I've copied to my PC and indeed that is the resolution. The associated JPEG is expected resolution.
Is there a solution? I've googled with no luck
edit: second issue is the camera "restarts" 2-5 times when i first fire it up.
I'd clear the data/cache of the camera app
24mb~ is the correct size for RAW, but they should be the resolution you have set in the camera resolution settings
You haven't installed an updates to the camera app via APK?
If yes, uninstall them back to the factory version

Hi, thanks for the reply
I've tired clearing the cache, then straight to pro mode, switch on raw, take a pic... the jpeg is as expected, the raw file is low res
The phone came reset but with 7.0 on. Perhaps I should try to roll it back to 6

Did you clear Data of the camera app along with cache?
7.0 shouldn't be a problem, you could try factory resetting the phone again though if you can't cure it any other way
I'm having the same issues with the camera running on 7.0. Raw images saves at 20mb but it looks like a blocky mess when viewed in the gallery. The jpeg in auto mode also comes out overly compressed with a a lot of artifacting. Shooting in pro mode helps a bit, but still looks comparably worse next to another S7 in my possession.

You can't view RAW in the gallery, only a low rez thumbnail, copy them to the PC and use Lightroom or something to view them
YES I have the same issue! The RAW images are normal if I upload them to my PC, but editing them on the phone they're super low-res. Even if I try to open the RAW files in Photoshop Express, the low-res thumbails open. Huge issue for me since I do a lot of photography. Have you found a fix?

Ah, I see. I installed Snapseed and the raw images came out fine. I never realized the stock gallery didn't support raw preview because I used to open them in the Google Photo app on my Note 5.
I still have issues with noisy and compressed photos shot on auto mode. I remembered it being much better on Marshmallow. The Note 5 next to me has the same problem after the update to Nougat.

Not having any problems with Auto mode, obviously Pro mode is superior but Auto comes out nice too
I remembered MM having amazing photos and flashed back to test, but they came out the same as Nougat so upgraded again
Try flashing back, see if there really is a difference, memory is a funny thing, also I got my phone in August so it was still pretty bright and sunny when I had MM on it, so photos did come out looking great as it loves good lighting conditions
Then since Nougat came along it's been winter, so bad light conditions, summer is on it's way again which will be a good test this year
Hi all, this is my first post here so please be gentle
I recently upgraded to a Galaxy A52 and have been compiling all of my photo collections onto said device. Motion photos (originally taken on an S9, then stored on an A3 2017) worked perfectly fine, and now I'm trying to figure out if I can get Live Photos transferred from my iPhone SE 1st gen and converted into Samsung's Motion Photo format.
I've searched and tried experimenting for hours, but I haven't found any evidence of someone successfully making a native Motion Photo. If anyone has heard of such a tool, I would love to know.
I did find tools to extract them (https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/samsung-motion-photo-extractor.3339997/), as well as some details about the file specs (https://github.com/photoprism/photoprism/issues/439).
A basic technical summary for Samsung's Motion Photos is that there is an mp4 file embedded into the jpeg metadata as binary data.
I tried my hand at making such a tool for converting Live Photos to Motion Photos on my own, using ffmpeg and exiftool. This is the flow I attempted:
1. Use Google Photos to backup Live Photos from my iPhone
2. Download them on my computer, which will give me .jpg and corresponding .mov files
3. use ffmpeg to convert and remux .mov file into correct container and codec
4. use exiftool to merge video file into jpeg file
5. copy to new Samsung phone
Unfortunately, I got stuck on the 4th step in writing the exif tags. the tags that Samsung uses are non-standard, and I couldn't find any clear resources on how I could set up an exiftool config file to do so.
I also tried downloading directly from Google Photos on my destination device, but the downloaded files are not visible outside of the Google Photos app so I cannot examine them or use them with any app other than Google Photos. I tried on a rooted emulator, and I could only find the photo portion of the file (corresponding video was not embedded and nowhere to be found). Even if this did work, it would not be a practical method as from the Google Photos app photos must be downloaded individually (no bulk option)
I've mostly given up on this and am not particularly seeking advice, rather I thought I'd share my findings and attempts as there doesn't seem to be much information for converting Live Photos to Motion Photos. Of course, if someone does know how to properly set up exiftool to write the correct tags into the image file, I will be happy to share the batch script I make to convert my collection.
--edit--
just for reference, I created this https://exiftool.org/forum/index.php?topic=12388.0 corresponding post in the exiftool forums, so if someone finds this in the future trying to attempt the same or similar thing, maybe there will be helpful replies there.

Does not seem to work this way.
I found a solution to "transfer" live photos from sn Apple to motion photo on a Samsung app:
Is there a way to convert Motion Photos (… - Apple Community

But this does not work the other way round.
Hi everyone, I know The Pixel doesn't record 4K videos, but I use my OG pixel now for backing up photos and videos only. I copy all of my photos and videos from my new device to the OG pixel to upload to Google photos for unlimited high quality storage. Recently I've noticed that when I shoot 4K videos in a copies to my OG pixel it doesn't upload the videos to Google photos. I would have to go on the phone and manually upload it to Google photos. It's still doesn't count towards my storage but I have to do it manually every time. Is this something that Google just put in place on the photos app to to not allow the OG pixel to upload 4K videos or was it always like this?
My s20 4k videos upload just fine through my pixel xl, as soon as i copy them to the pixel and open them in photos they start being uploaded. Can't believe i found one for only $20
it uploads 4k, but since it's such an old phone i'm guessing it just takes a while for it to chew through it. i share screen recordings to mine, and it takes a while for it to show up after downloading it from my pixel 6p. it does eventually upload though.
how are you both copying your stuff to your old pixel 1? i'm just using nearby share once/day. @peachpuff $20?? i paid 100 for mine on swappa! I was bummed that i had to get another one, my original one probably has a dead motherboard
@biglo what folder are the videos being copied to, and is it set to automatically upload from that folder? check your settings

I just copy through usb, but I'll try nearby share next time. Yup $20, and it was in perfect condition too.

I was able to sort it out. Turns out it was a user error on my end. I changed my device name and the Synology Photos app created a new path on my NAS that wasn't being uploaded. Thanks for your help!
I use SyncThing to copy photos from the PC to the Pixel - which then uploads it. You can also sync other phones camera folders to the pixel. The one thing that isn't perfect is, that the pixel can't just pull all photos from a network folder.
I'm a little concerned that copying and deleting the pixels storage over and over causes stress on the memory and lowers the longevity of the device.

I figure the battery would go before the flash storage module does. That, or Google writes the GPhotos app to no longer work with Android 10.
