I could use a hand bypassing Googles reset setup. I had to reset the device using the recovery menu.
When the device was initially setup, there was no google account used. But on master reset, its asking for the G account previously synced. I wiped the cache in recovery but it didnt work

what is the difference between factory reset and hard reset??
will my phone lag go away if i do a factory reset?
what all will remain in the phone, like which apps(pre installed or all?)
i'm using a motorola defy (running 2.2)
A factory reset makes your device just like it was when you first took it out of the box brand new. It is done from with in the Android OS it self via Settings/SD & phone storage/Factory data reset. Any apps you have installed, your contacts, bookmarks, any personal settings you have will be removed. If you go into Settings/Privacy and check backup settings your settings will be backed up to google. It is also a has a Automatic restore option there that will automatically restore your settings for you if you have backup settings checked.
A hard reset does the same thing a factory data reset does, but you have to use the external buttons to do it. Each device has it's on combination of buttons to preform a hard reset. Some devices have it as a option in the Hboot/Recovery screen. Some say a hard reset does a little bit more thorough or deeper cleaning, but I have found no one that can answer this for 100% positive.
you can also preform a factory reset using Clockwork Mod Recovery by choosing the factory data reset option in the main menu of Clockwork Mod Recovery.
As for it solving your issue with lagging. I can not say proof positive it will as I do not have a device like yours and do not exactly what is causing the device to lag. But a factory reset has been know to help solve a lot of issues, one is laggyness. I suggest you do it as it is no risk involved in doing it. Plus with Android it is easy to restore your device to the way you had it. The market keeps track of the apps you had and you just open the market, press yhe menu button and then my apps. this will let you get your apps back.

Click to collapse
Go to Settings-> Accounts: Google. Tap your account, tap settings key ( in my case left side of home key) choose Remove account option
Done!
This the most strange think that I saw. A customer bring to me a Motorola Xoom2 tablet (MZ-616-32) that can't do a factory reset.
I tryed several times, on two diferent ways:
1) Privacy -> Factory Reset
2) By Recovery using Wipe Data and Wipe Cache
The tablet is 100% locked.
Everytime after the reset completed all information including google, mail accounts, user apps, wifi configs, remaining here.
Oneplus One - "BOOTLOOP" - Unknown Reason and Data Presence after Factory Reset
Hello All,
This is my first post in XDA.I'm sharing my Oneplus one bootloop experience which i faced last week .The day before i got bootloop in my Oneplus one,Charge i had in my mobile was around 14% , Data and other services were running with which my mobile can only run for only next 8hrs.Next day morning, I found my mobile got switched off. When i try to charge the device,My device fell into bootloop completely then i went with the following choices,
1. Charged the device around 50% and made it dry completely (Didn't Work).
2.CM Recovery mode and Wiped the cache partition (Didn't Work).
3.Finally,No option-Half-Halfheartedly decided to Factory reset my device, CM recovery >> Wipe Data/ Factory reset.
While Factory reset,Device was prompting for delete user option I gave "Yes" .After reset and reboot,I found still all my data exists in my device.
Unchanged things even after my factory reset,
1. All my data around 48gb.
2.Ringtone and other settings.
Changed things,
1.No apps were there
2.Wallpaper
3.Security pattern (No pattern after reset)
4.Apps auto-login
For eg, Facebook app i downloaded it right from play store. When i opened the app, It din't prompt for Username,Password
right way it just logged in.Same thing with twitter,Linkedin and Other apps.Even after i wipped my cache still all the app were able to auto login.
Anyway my device works fine now.Got all my data back
My device Config,

Sandstone Black
64 gb variant
CM 12 updated till date (12.0-YNG1TAS213).
If anyone had already faced the same.Pls post the RC for the same.
Thanks and Regards,

Hey everyone,
I'm managing some Android phones in company using VMWare Workspace One and today, when I unenrolled phone using console of MDM, it says unenrolled but nothing happened with the phone. Thanks to that I got now device, which seems like unenrolled from MDM side, but device thinks that it's enrolled and still got installed our policies.
In our policies we have restricted to do factory reset on the phone and also developers settings, so I'm actually unable to flash new firmware over ADB. Factory reset over recovery also doesn't work, I'm missing "wipe data/factory reset" section in the recovery on the phone. Devices are not rooted and with OEM system.
Is there any way, how to rescue that device? I just need to wipe it into factory reset and reenroll that device using KNOX Enrollment again.
Thanks.
