hi
i just bought this phone today and i am noob in huawei phones functions and wondering which build number is better in battery life, smooth scroling and camera?
i have stock frd-l09c185b385 and as my expriences on sony phones, android N has battery draining issue, heating problems and lag
in first gaming test with clash royale I face small lag when new trop deploying (just like xperia z4 andorid 7)
is it same in this phone?
and the other question :
should i open bootloader to root device is this build? ( i need my app data to restore)
thanks:fingers-crossed:
No, this phone does not lag at all unless u get a virus or whatsoever. The phone gets warm sometimes, but doesn't get too hot. There are no battery issues either, but the battery life with Marshmallow was a bit better. However, it is worth it to update it to nougat in the case you are wondering.

Do you mean go completely back to stock like you never modified the device.? If so yes it's really easy to do.
I have latest stock L09C432B389 build, no lags, no heatings problems and finally no battery draining like in previous builds.
But it seems to me , that EMUI 4.1 (Android 6.0) is still better battery optimized.
So if you need battery, stay at Android 6.0, for performance Android 7 is better.
Regarding to root, it's very to unlock bootloader and root this phone.Restore to stock is also very simple.
It's practically impossible to brick this device.

Ok so I Don't know if I should root my Sensation, or just leave it as is. I know there are risks to rooting, but I hear rooting makes phone's more customizable?
So.. Please post:
-The Advantages of rooting
-The DisAdvantages
-The Risks
-For a noob like me, on a scale of 1-10 how hard will it be? 10 = Hardest
-Should I root, and why.
Thank you!
Go to google.com and type in "what is rooting android" now spend the next 30minutes-1hour reading and learning.
Sent from my Sensation using xda premium
From a scale from 1-10, I think it'd be like a 2. Its fairly simple if you read the instructions carefully.
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e
You should definitely root! It gives you complete control over your phone and customize it whatever way you want!
On a scale from 1-10, i think it'll be 2 too. Its really easy if you follow the instructions clearly. If you don't, there might be a chance of bricking your phone if you messed up somewhere badly. The chances are really slim though!
Sent from my fingers to appear on your screen magically.
Root gives u absolute control over your phone. Like admin rights on a windows computer. No disadvantages. Lots of advantages (read: a lot of cool programs out there that require root privileges)
The risk is not following instructions and turning your phone into an expensive paperweight. For a noob like you, if you can follow instructions, difficulty level is a 1. Likelihood of you bricking your phone is negatively correlated with your SAT score.

Real question is:
Does the phone do what you want it to do as it is now?
If the answer is 'yes' then rooting isn't really neccessary. The ONLY reason I've rooted is to remove all the system apps I don't use. I use my own ROM which is basic and does what I want it to do

Prety much this ... for a noob rooting is totally useless .. many people do it to strip the phone off useless aps to make it faster ... which fact lost its point for me with new OTA release with which Sense became fast enought to prevent example me from bothering with rooting. At this moment theres no reason good enough for me to do it.
Another group of people are those who root just to be pimp and IN even if its totally worthless for them.
Different group of people are those who use root/s-off for changing/modifying/creating custom ROMs with either some sort of tweaked HTC Sense with transparency, various MODs and that kind of stuff, or totally different graphic layout (which reason i never fully understood since i bought Sensation for its Sense .. hence the HTC brand .. innit?)
So yea ask urself ... does the phone have all i need? if the answer is yes, then theres no need for rooting for you.
Thats my subjective point of view.
If you root you can customize your phone the way you like it, or atleast the ways developers make available to you. i just rooted my phone for the first time and it was way easier than i thought it was. before you flash a new rom, make sure you backup your device with titanium backup. then after its flashed, you can easily restore all your apps and data with titanium backup. the only data you really lose is your home screen apps because you have to put all your apps and widgets back on your own.

^^^This is THE perfect response to the question
I've not rooted and unless I need ICS and it won't come to the Sensation (to be honest, by the time you NEED ice cream sandwich the Sensation will likely be old tech) so I'll need a custom ROM, or there's some work related can't live without app that requires root, I can't see myself ever needing to do it.
I have rooted my 7 weeks old Sensation after only 3 weeks. Initially I thought I would never have to do so, but there were 2 things which made me unhappy: bloatware and the bitpool problem which causes crappy sound while listening to music over bluetooth headset. After all I flashed the device with as much as 7 separate roms and since today I'm happy with CM7 alpha 4. It's like a completely different device So I'd always say yes, but it depends on how your needs are.
You should root. Simply because there are many awesom apps in the market that required the root. With a rooted phone, you can do whatever you want.
The risk is your phone can be bricked. But i rooted many android phone but no brick to me, you should give it a try
What amazing apps are there for rooted devices? I'm thinking of rooting mine, mainly for the extra customisation options, but don't know if I can be bothered backing up all my apps and data. You have to back up sd card too don't you?

Titanium Backup
Root Explorer
AdFree
you can even install the HTC Beats Music mod, if you want to. I've tested that and it really sounds better. I even miss that on CM7, but I love CM7 for other reasons...
I'm sure, I forgot some apps, but it's late here
Regarding backup:
I usually have Titanium Backup for my apps & apps data (important and convenient, when moving to another rom) plus a general (clockworkmod) backup of the whole phone rom prior to flashing to be able to easily go back if something goes wrong...
im not stranger to rooting as i have done all kinds of crazy crap to my vibrant, i have the sensation and im not so sure if i want to root. Its cause i hear Htc devices are alot easier to brick, and i don't wanna risk messing with the bootloader. So far its running great, wifi tether, screenshots, i don't think you really need it.
well.
i thought im not happy with my phone so i rooted.
i installed the revolution room , it looked promising but im not happy.
my phone getting super hot while playing and some time rebooting it self and dont stop reboot until i remove the battery

And if you're not happy with your phone send it back for a replacement
Course now you'll have to get it back to it's original condition and un-root it to do that...
And how about spoonfeeding???
Dude... Please read, read and read some more.
What ya'll get with root.... almost all access to all the files....
Here comes the question? What ya gonna do with it?
Do you need that?.... Don't think so. Yer probably thinking of supping yer phone...
Installing different ROM.... Then... ROMs come rooted already.
What you might ask for is: Should I S-OFF my phone?
That's up to you. You lose yer warranty if S-OFF discovered, but you can do whatever you want with yer phone....
Hope I explained as simple as it comes...

Mine doesn't. I've never had a reboot due to over heating, or gotten too hot to touch, and that's even with streaming music via bluetooth, downloading over 3G and using GPS. Likewise while playing graphics intensive games with online content it's got warm but not over heated.
Some handsets have suffered an over heating issue and rightly have been replaced under warranty.
You should root, really you don't know what your missing, Android Revolution is best ROM out there and root ting is vary safe.
OK I am also new to rooting.. Can anyone suggest me link on how to root my sensation.. Plus after rooting do I need to change Kernel and Radio? (Though I still don't understand both terms).
My only concern is the slow performance. The phone should run faster for a 1.2 Ghz processor...
Just took care of finally rooting my S2 LTE (Rogers).
The first two things I was hoping to do was under clock the CPU to help increase the battery life, as well as unlock the device itself.
I know there are some apps out there, like Set CPU, but just wondering what everyone was doing, if at all in terms of under clocking.
Also, does rooting help make unlocking easier? Or am I still going to have to shell out $30 on some unlocking site to get a code?
I answered your pm. Just letting you know.

Well let me know if you got questions..
Thanks - anyone have any good recos for ROM/Kernel combos that are good for battery life?
K so how did the phone get into dload mode and if there is no usb connected to it than just take out battery and power back ur phone again.
My SM-P900 is a great device, in terms of screen and pen, but not at all smooth (I'm on stock 5.0.2). It feels to me more like a hardware issue - not enough RAM, nor horsepower to deal with the all the pixels being pushed. I've have been poking around this forum all morning, and I'm still left with a couple of questions:
- does Lineage improve the lagginess to a noticeable degree?
- Is there a quick Odin way to get it back to stock as a last resort?

yes it is . i have resisted for the last three years but now have succumbed. the upgrade is well worth it and battery life has suddenly come back to how it was. faster snappier and more customisable. better in every way. i only did this last week and do not regret it for an instant
You sold me .
Of course now comes the challenge. Could not get heimdall to work; now trying Odin.
Update - totally worth it! Buttery smooth.
Odin method was actually pretty easy. Got nervous when the first boot took about 8 minutes, but it landed eventually.

HI, as strange as it sounds I actually just got my hands on a new Note Pro 12.2. Based on what I've been reading I think I would be better off rooting it. Probably better to do it now before I start using it.
Would you be so kind as to point me in the right direction or share with me a link on how to root it? I'm not a total newbie at rooting, but have not done it in a long time (last root was my HP Touchpad ).
I tried searching, but so many options are showing up and it's getting very confusing as to what to flash. I don't want to flash an out-dated build.
Thank you

First you should confirm your model number - mine is the standard wifi-only module - SM-P900
For that model, the instructions at the top post of this post worked fine (don't use instructions on the lineage page - they're complex and people like me had problems getting them to work).
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...-7-1-xsm-p900-unofficial-cyanogenmod-t3524788
To summarize (be sure to get all the details and warnings from that post)
Download Odin / TWRP / Lineage build / su zip / google apps
use odin to flash twrp
use twrp to flash lineage, su, google apps

I heard that you're having trouble with lagginess? I wonder if you're using something like DU Speed Booster to help clean your caches, etcetera, and occasionally cleaning your Recycle Bin. Also, it helps if you're able to access your SD Card properly. Some OSs (most notably 5.1.1 don't want to play nice with one that is larger than 64 gigs, or one that has the wrong filing system. I got it fixed on mine, but at this moment I don't remember how. Just give me a day or two and I'll figure it out and get back to you. Will talk with you shortly. Rob

Im in the same boat, if i root and install lineage to get the latest Oreo version will i lose any functionality that the stock pro 12.2 has?
Can i reverse the root and go back to standard if for some reason i lose functionality on the pen etc?
In all my years of owning android tablets and phones ive never rooted one of them, but this tablet is a beast and i would like to see it running at its best and feel that a software upgrade is long over due.
I personally would wish somebody ported Tab S3 Samsung Experience powered by Lyneage on the P900
Despite I would love to have the most recent version of android achieved on this tablet, I just can't quit the Samsung Experience, that's the only thing I hope it happens
My tablet is now at least as responsive as it was on 4.4.x. Lollipop had made it super laggy. I'd be tempted to say it's even faster, but I haven't really tested it yet.

Hi, I don't know that anyone has responded, but everything I have read claimed that it was a bad idea, because every ROM is specific to the device. That may be changing with a very new (I think?) development that has to do with Project Treble and GSI. If you google SM-P907A custom ROM, what do you find? You may find something if you keep poking around.....Good luck!!!
Pen Functionality
Does the SPen continue to work in LineageOS?
I want to upgrade, but I don´t want to lose the pen functionality.
For P905, you have to check if you are willing to live with the bugs that are currently on the roms.
I think the most stable for me was Lineage 14. Since it only had 1 major bug that could be kind of fixed. The others have:
1. Broken palm rejection
2. Phone related issues
3. Rotation issues on some
4. No mobile data on the latest
Unfortunately, it's pretty slow on mine that I am considering just going back to Lollipop since I want a stable device that isn't so slow.
Best I ve ever done to my old P900 - LIneage (Android 7.1.2) is incredible fast and give back full functinality (some Apps I.m using very often need Android 6)....I m very happy with this upgrade
The "Error 7" code mad me crazy last afternoon - I had to format the item with TWRP and the there was no problem to install the upgrade

Hi, what's the problem with palm recognition in 8.0+?
Tab can't recognize pen and palm (pressure, gestures, button) or when you write tab does not disable the regular touch?
It's "fixable" using other app like Squid?

It means that when the stylus is close or touching the screen, your palm should not trigger the touch screen. This is an OS level feature. Without it, people writing/drawing notes would have marks on the area their palm is resting or unexpected zoom is performed. Other applications can have a workaround like enabling pen only for drawing but those are rare.
Don't hold back the details. I "need" (not want)... "need" to know if I put Nougat on the Galaxy S6 if it will just make it ridiculously slow and unusable or could it actually improve it?
I do not believe in putting new software on old hardware, for all devices, but I would really not like to hear "guesses" - but people who know from others who have done it or who have done it themselves.
I want to put the Samsung factory unlocked Nougat on the S6. I'm not asking for instructions on how. I just want to know if its worth it.
Thanks!!!!!

Ok I don’t use my s6 full time. In fact it’s become my backup. I did use my s6 on android N prior to upgrading and had no issues with it running it at all.
In fact I still power it up and play with it now as I will no doubt use it again and I believe it performs very well to this day. I’m sure battery life is an issue regardless of what os is running as the battery in the device itself isn’t big! But I’d have no doubt about putting android N on it again given the choice.

I'll say it in few words: the best version you'll ever use in your s6
Wow, even though just 2 replies, that makes me feel better. Thanks! I'll try to remember to post back here what happens after I do it. I will be needing to rebuild the phone too: New Battery, LCD and Camera... lol - I'm bothering because... well the phone has always done great. It "was" the best phone I've ever had, but now network updates are forcing me to move it into "current times" .
Is anyone still supporting new ROMs? I never rooted because I have been using Samsung Pay but am over it. Looking to Root and have some fun but it looks like this phone is pretty much no longer supported.
1st phone I have ever not rooted and it's silly how much I miss it.
Yeah, phone is mostly dead. And if you are still on Sprint network there aren't many ROMs to try. I've unlocked my phone to use it on Mexico's largest carrier, I could share my personal ROM but I'm sure it won't work with the Sprint network.
I just got my Note 5 Sprint phone a few weeks back (our company got a really good deal but it meant older phones). Being someone who just can't use an unrooted phone (a neurosis?) I looked around and decided to try the Teleteam CDMA S8 rom. (The S8+ doesn't offer wifi calling). I'm quite glad I did root, in part because the rom is nice and in part because I *hate* face book app and a few others and like being able to remove them totally. My two cents... do it!

What is your thought regarding security patches? That Rom hasn't been updated in like a year, correct?

Funny you should mention this. I began to get nervous about that very thing, and switched back to a rooted stock version of the rom. I do wish folks with the know-how might post flashable update files of the latest stock rom modem and bootloader... it would make life a bit less worrisome. Right now I'm on a May (?) 2018 update (when I got the phone)... I think there's been one more since. It would be nice to be able to flash that to my present setup.
The only thing you can flash is the latest baseband. And thats it.
Howdy.
So could flash stock and update. Then Reroot. Repeat with each security patch.
No issue rooting current update.
Ignore my ignorance... Finally got it right. Sorry for my stupid post. Thanks for the guide!
