Flash Stock ROM from Custom ROM - Honor 8 Questions & Answers

Hi Guys,
I have an honor 8 FRD-L09 and i'm on crDroid v.3.7.
Bootloader is unlocked, twrp 3.1.1 as recovery and the phone is rooted.
I want to go back to FRD-L09C432B389 but I don't know how, could you please help me
Thanks

Download the two zip files of B380/B381 then reboot to recovery. First flash the hw zip file then flash the update zip file.
Once done in TWRP go to reboot to recovery. It will now reboot to stock recovery and click factory reset. It should reboot once finished.

Cannot update bootloader

I am currently using bootloader 10.4.4.25 and cannot install the latest cm 11
And I am using CWR 6.0.4
Can anyone advise how can I update the bootloader so I can install cm11?
Thanks
Download the latest Asus firmware, unzip the file once resulting in another zip.
Copy that zip to your tabet and flash it in CWM (that you have everything you care about backed up off the tablet goes without saying, right?). That will get you onto the latest bootloader but also wipe your custom recovery.
Boot into fastboot, flash a CM11 compatible recovery.
Reboot
Boot into recovery, do a factory wipe and then flash the rom.
Thanks for the advise. I am downoading the latest firmware from ASUS website and will install it.
I am not sure how to flash a CM11 compatible recovery from fastboot. Can you give more details please? Shoudl I follow the root instruction from the ROM post and re-root the machine again?
Thanks in advance

Can't boot into recovery mode, maybe something went wrong while updating TWRP to 3.0.2 but can boot into fastboot.
also had backup of previous rom but since i can't boot into TWRP now so can't restore it. Earlier on TWRP 2.8.6 i was getting zip file execution error while restoring/installing new ROM.
So for now i have only access to fastboot mode, how to proceed futher?

You have 2 options you can flash the stock rom and recovery via fastboot here is a guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/general/guide-return-opo-to-100-stock-t2826541 (Just skip step 4 don't relock the bootloader specially if you want to install TWRP) Make sure you download the correct file there is a 64gb and a 16gb listed in this guide or you can download the stock file straight from cynogen OS here https://cyngn.com/support
Or you can reinstall TWRP via fastboot by downloading TWRP here https://dl.twrp.me/bacon/ and install your backup if its still there. If its not there you can either download and install any custom rom you want or if you want the stock rom go with option 1 above and then re-install twrp. (Always remeber after installing TWRP don't fully boot into the system or you will loose TWRP, boot straight to recovery once its done flashing TWRP by holding the power button and volume down. )

1) How to install? If you have stock zenui go to 1C, if you have a custom ROM go to 1A
If you don't backup all your data you lost all.
1A) First do a TWRP backup on sdcard (if you don't have sdcard just do in internal storage and save the backup on pc. Select system, data, recovery and boot. Then go to wipe - advanced wipe, select dalvik, system, data, cache and Swype.
Then reboot in fastboot.
Now your phone don't have any OS installed so don't boot. We are going to install the stock and unmodified firmware and recovery on the phone.
1B) Download Asus flashtool:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B9rp3AJHKJXjNmRuRUJMWmtOT3c/view
and android 7 raw firmware for
ZE552KL:
http://www.mediafire.com/file/o12vo...14.2020.1703.28_M3.10.47.3_Phone-user.raw.zip
ZE520KL: http://www.mediafire.com/file/5qrp2...14.2020.1703.28_M3.10.47.3_Phone-user.raw.zip
Now boot your phone in fastboot, connect to pc, install and open Asus flash tool, select raw file and device model and flash the firmware. If the pc don't detect your phone install the drivers.
1C) Download from Asus site the latest nougat update:
WARNING: IF YOU OPEN THE ZIP FILE THE RECOVERY FAIL TO UPDATE
And you must delete this zip and download another
ZE552KL: http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/ZenFone/ZE552KL/UL-ASUS_Z012D-WW-14.2020.1712.85-user.zip

http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/ZenFone/ZE520KL/UL-ASUS_Z017D_1-WW-14.2020.1712.85-user.zip
Put in device storage and wait the device to detect the update. Tap on notification and install. If fail try in order:
-put in sdcard and update via STOCK recovery
-‎sideload the file from your PC via adb
-‎download the file with another browser and delete the previous
After that, so the same with Android 8.0 update

2) Flash recovery
I know there are another method to flash a recovery but this method is simply:
2A) Download twrp from this thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/zenfone-3/development/recovery-twrp-3-2-1-ze520kl-ze552kl-t3742765
Download Zenfone 3 toolkit from this thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/zenfone-3/how-to/tool-zenfone-3-one-click-tool-t3507417
2B) Unpack and go to zenfone3_clictool/twrp folder. Delete both recoveries and put the 3.2.1 twrp in folder. If you have ZE552KL rename with " twrp-3.0.2-Z012D ", if you have ZE520KL rename with " twrp-3.0.2-Z017D ". Now boot your phone in fastboot, connect to pc and open the Zenfone 3 click tool, follow the instructions and select flash twrp for your device. Reboot your phone in recovery and see if can read internal storage. If read 0B try another time.
3) Rooting is so simple. Just download Magisk
boot in twrp and flash
Xposed work well, I tested only gravitybox
Substratum works... Meh

Great job!
However, I have a question. TWRP you mention to in 2A's version is 3.0.2 or 3.2.1?
I'm sorry that my English is bad.
So, just to be sure, I'm currently on ViperOS, I need to follow from 1A step, right? Or anything before that I have to do first?

My phone is now WW-15.0410.1712.31
I cant sure that my phone will boot or not after flashed twrp. So I go to fastboot mode, and boot into twrp by command:
fastboot boot twrp-3.2.1-0-Z012-20171220-oreotest.img
downloading 'boot.img'...
OKAY [ 0.786s]
booting...
But nothing happens, my phone still in fastboot mode.
I can boot into twrp with beta oreo previously released.
I think that twrp is not compatible with official oreo now.

It must work. You're basically flashing TWRP temporarily, so when you are in TWRP for the first time, you have to flash the zip file so that it stays installed. Try that again, maybe you did something wrong, but it has to work, you just need the .img that you flash with your PC, and the .zip that you flash using TWRP when you boot into it the first time.

If twrp isn't sticking, from my experience is to lock bootloader, flash stock OS and start from scratch.....
Do not flash stock with unlocked bootloader

Oneplus 7 Pro can install updates anymore

Hello xda-comunity
I'm unable to install the oxygenos update 9.5.8 GM21BA
So I was following this guide to unlock my bootloader and root my phone with magisk.
All went well. I got the notification that there is a new update (see above)
In the guide there was a step - by - step instruction on how to update the phone and keep root. I did that.
And now when try to install the update I get a bootloop into recovery. I figured out that the op7pro is a 2 slot phone ( slot a, slot b) and when I install a update it sets the for example slot b (where the update is installed) as default.
So when something goes wrong it just loads up the "previous" slot (in this example slot a) as default again and says that the update failed to install. Correct me if I'm wrong .
And now to the my problem, the phone doesn't load on slot b nor does it default back to slot a, instead I get a recovery bootloop when I'm in slot b.
The fix here is to flash twrp via fastboot and load slot a again, my phone then boots up like normal.
And here is the problem I can't install the update because I probably messed up slot b.
I know it's a long post and I appreciate every possible answer. Thanks in advance.

Sorry I worded that oddly.
If you want to keep it stock then:
Wipe Data (Optional but recommended), Dalvik.
Flash the OTA, TWRP Installer.
Reboot to Recovery.
Flash the OTA, TWRP Installer again.
Reboot to Recovery.
Flash Magisk and/or kernels (Step is optional)
Reboot system
If youre installing a custom ROM like Havoc then:
Wipe Data, Dalvik.
Flash the OTA, ROM then TWRP Installer.
Reboot to Recovery.
Flash the ROM, TWRP Installer again.
Reboot to Recovery.
Flash GApps and Magisk (Step is optional)
Reboot system

If you want to keep it stock then:

You can drag the files back into the root of your phone and flash them on the other slot. You could ADB fastboot but just dragging the zips to your phone is easier in my opinion.

Yes you flash on both slots. If youve already flashed both then flash magisk and reboot to system. It should take about 10min to boot so dont worry.
Edit: If youre getting a bootloop or having bugs then follow this https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-7-pro/how-to/rom-stock-f to get back to stock international
Then follow https://forum.xda-developers.com/on...nt/recovery-unofficial-twrp-recovery-t3931322 then flash Magisk and reboot
This is ONLY if you cannot get it to boot after updating

Ok but how do i do that when slot b is empty?
I dont know how to put files on slot b.
When I switch slots I have to reboot.
I can only boot into system on slot a.

Your link gets me to the front page of the Oneplus 7 pro Guides, News, etc....
It should've taken you to the Fastboot thread. Look at this one instead https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-7-pro/how-to/rom-stock-fastboot-roms-oneplus-7-pro-t3931424
Alright i flashed the ROM new
Was able to install the newest ota just perfect.
Kept it unrooted, I think I'm gonna let it unrooted because of all the work I have to do Everytime a new ota comes (maybe later when the phone is older)
Thank you so much for your help.
