I was trying to root my device, i unlocked bootloader, whenever i was trying to install TWR my device go through the recovery only, couldn't go through OS, i solved it by installing stock firmware via flashtool, I want to install recovery to install custom Rom, is there any suggestion for a good custom Rom ?
flashing TWRP does cause some issue in the boot partition of the phone if you try to flash it via fastboot .
But if you really want that recovery as well as your rom try this method hope this solves your problem

Thanks phone is Rooted

I am a new xiaomi user. My mi 4i is on v 7.2.3.0(lximida). I want to downgrade to v 6.6.10 . I have no root and so no TWRP installed. In many post and thread I wanted to know how to do it using sock recovery. And they gave various answer as below :-
1)download the version and flash using TWRP recovery after wiping cache and data.
2)some dude told that downgrade using Fastboot (but I don't want to use pc).
3)some dude mentioned that download the Rom and rename it update. Zip... Go to updater option.... And apply update.
4)some mentioned download it...... Rename it..... Go to stock recover...... Wipe cache and data...... apply update.
5)one dude mention that if I am downgrading then in Stock recovery I have to wipe system also before applying update. (but there is no option of wiping system in Stock recovery)
So I am little worried that which is the safe method of downgrading if I have no root and no TWRP installed. Frankly speaking I have no PC so I want to know about mostly stock recovery method.

Don't bother going down this path, it wont end well. If you don't want to root and you don't want to fastboot, you're in the wrong forum. TWRP and root is the easiest way to downgrade your phone. Why do you want to downgrade to miui6 from 7 in any case? if you're not a root user the general consensus is that stock miui7 on the mi4i is a better performer in general.

Atfirst thanx for replying...
Actually... I am a pretty much root user.
At first I want downgrade for installing custom Roms as I think I have to downgrade for installing most of custom Roms.
I want to root but kingroot or biadu like apps is not working on miui v 7.2.3.0 and I don't have a PC.
OK I will manage a PC or laptop..atleast can u briefly give instruction on proper way (root and twrp way)for downgrading to v 6.6.10.
(Plz don't mention the fastboot method and )
Pardon me for my bad English.

For rooting it's better if you try and google for a website in your native language rather than make a mistake.
For installing custom Roms no need to go that far as to downgrade. Just flash your rom and use the files attached here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=62420527&postcount=2
Specifically the miui fix and wifi fix after flashing your rom. No need to downgrade your ROM to 6.6.1.0. Only things different from miui 6 and 7 is the wifi driver and the partitions so these two fix those problems
The best and proper way to downgrade (for me) is to flash via fastboot, which results in a clean and unmodified device.
OK ....I did it by stock recovery....and everything is superb....thanx for sharing opinion guys
Hello good people i want to use custom rom !my device is idol 3 6045I as i am noob about this stuffs here is my query :
1. 1st i need to unlock bootloder using fastboot right ?
2. then i need twarp / custom recovery then my desire rom ?
3. what is the best rom currently available ? (my requirement is very good battery life, smooth & stable performance , don't play game that much tho ) i saw lineage 14 available in other sites but not @ xda! really love to use multi screen features ... @Unjustified Dev has 3 rom project i guess! which one should i get or should i try lineage 14! if i miss something please enlighten me ! TIA
1. Yes, Go Here
2. Flash TWRP and Flash the SuperSU ZIP IF ON LOLLIPOP Found Here.
3. 5.1 - PAC as I am currently using right now. Only minor problems are little to no freezes, And if you heavily modify the UI, prepare for some Double FC's here and there. Doesn't happen all the time. But if you feel uncomfortable CM 12.1 is the way to go.
6 - Lineage. Idk about the others.
(Oh, And by the way, do not forget to backup your modem! Some roms are not actually built on from your exact model but they all (6045 variant wise) work the same!)

Follow this then. You will need TWRP for downgrading to a Custom 5.1 ROM.

Hello Friends,
I have an HTC desire 650, not dual sim, runs Marshmallow 6.0.1, I have already unlocked the bootloader using manufacturer's instructions, I tried to root with kingoroot, it fails every time, the phone is not bricked and restarts as it should, processor is qualcom snapdraagon 400 1.59 Ghz, model MSM8926, kernek architecture is armv7I, kernerk version is 3.4.0-pref-g1429477, I post the kernel because I saw a 2015 post on this site that for 6.0.1 requires to modify the kernel in order to root, and I have not found any more information on this matter,
Thank you,
$am

I've built a TWRP recovery for this model long time ago, but I do not have the device to test it, and here is my latest build.
https://github.com/sabpprook/twrp_b...ownload/1.0.0/twrp-3.2.1-0-a17_unofficial.img
Try boot this TWRP, it will prevent to modify your recovery partition.
Code:
fastboot boot twrp-3.2.1-0-a17_unofficial.img
If boot command not work, you must flash it.
Code:
fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.2.1-0-a17_unofficial.img
Please let me know if you get any issues from TWRP recovery.

/carrier mount failure just doesn't matter, it won't make you fail to flash anything.
custom rom
Twrp works perfectly...any custom rom for desire 650?
I want to flash the TWRP recovery but need the original stock recovery just in case how do I get it as there is no stock rom out for this device yet
Have successfully got full root and twrp backup of stock rom
Root
glad to hear that you made it! i want to root my desire 650 too, but it's safe?

i still having warranty until june, so i want to know if it worth .
my english isn't good enough yet hehe, but i hope it's understandable.
Greetings!
I have full root and using HTC 650 single sim working fine except I found that when I tried to restore twrp backup my phone was factory reset with no root at all and had no problems from that tho but it would be good if it could be fixed as I don't want to keep starting from scratch when I want to try xposed on this device too
oh, i hope you find a solution, let me know if xposed works properly on the desire 650, please!
and many thanks!
Root guide
Boot recovery
Backup stock rom
Install supers.zip latest then reboot
Install flashify and backup stock recovery and boot.img
You can flash recovery using flashify all tested and working perfect
P.s ignore errors on twrp and yes backup is factory stock rom no idea why hopefully be a fix soon

I unlocked bootloader, but I am not able to go any further. The phone seems bricked
just got one of these as a first smartphone for a friend - are there any custom roms available for it? what a shame HTC have not kept it up to date at all.
Hi, is there a Rom 7.x for this device ?.
The TWRP file worked for me thanks
At this moment there are no custom roms
I finally rooted my device, TWRP file worked fine. Unfortunately my phone has the "s-on" status and I can't modify anything in the /system even with this root access, if anyone knows something about this and how can I change that status please share some info, I've been looking but haven't found something that works.
Thanks and sorry for my english, still learning

Hey guys I use a nexus 5x and many people told me that my phone is extremely suited for custom ROMS and it will improve my experience.
1) So I was wondering as to how to flash a custom rom.
2) And my most important question is do I need to root my device to flash a custom ROM and custom recovery or is unlocking bootloader enough.
3) Also if I unlock the bootloader but don't root the device what more can I do with my device.
Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

1.For flashing a custom rom bootloader must be unlocked and custom recovery is also required
2.this thing depends on you... You can even use a custom rom without root access.many roms doesn't give root access by default..but
3.root access depends upon rom... Many roms comes pre rooted and many doesn't...root access is not permanent...

Thanks buddy. Could you do me another favour and recommend a few non root ROMs which improves battery or gives high amount of customization options
Its my personal opinion you dont need to avoid root access... I am not a nexus 5x user so i cnat suggest a specifc rom..i used custom roms in op2 and op3t so according to that experience i will suggest you lineage, ressuruction remix, mokee, paranoid, dirty unicorn... Moke is battery efficient rom...

I am trying to avoid root because the last time I rooted my Galaxy s3 things were bad after a month. I started to get these apps on the device automatically that were vulgar and also had to deal with a few other problems. Even after I formatted the device , things did not change.
Hello everyone
I have a Sony Xperia Z3 Dual D6633 running Android 4.4.4 and I would like to install TWRP on it
Does anyone know how to do it?
Bootloader is already unlocked
On the Internet I found this tutorial on several sites and forums
https://forum.xda-developers.com/z3/development/root-stock-kernel-twrp-v01-test-28-09-t2889794?__utma=248941774.950623471.1412017766.1412017766.1412017766.1&__utmb=248941774.1.10.1412017766&__utmc=248941774&__utmx=-&__utmz=248941774.1412017766.1.1.utmcsr=l.facebook.com%7Cutmccn=(referral)%7Cutmcmd=referral%7Cutmcct=/lsr.php&__utmv=-&__utmk=228295838
But this doesn't work for me. It bricks my phone and I have to do a hard reset and restore it from scratch.
(That's evan more frustrating because the links in the post are down and it took me hours to find a website where the files are available)
So is there anyone who has a working solution for installing TWRP on my phone?
Thank you for your answers
I have the same problem. I can't find a detailed tutorial how to bring the latest TWRP on the phone. Would be great if someone could write a dummy-proof tutorial.
I'm on the latest stock ROM (MM), btw.
I might be missing something here, but have you tried the method of downloading a recovery.img and then using "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img"?

This cannot work because Sony stock kernel is not able to boot from recovery. TWRP MUST be packed into kernels RAM disk

Back then when I worked on that problem in June / July I did a lot of research
I found XZDualRecovery and tried. It works but it is only TWRP 2.8. I want to use newer version 3.x.x
Is there a way to change XZ TWRP 2.8 to 3.x.x ??
I also found the rootkernel script by Tobias Waldvogel.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z5/development/root-automatic-repack-stock-kernel-dm-t3301605
I'm able to boot into TWRP 3.x.x but there's a huge decryption issue which I can't solve. So TWRP does nothing after boot.
I found a version of TWRP which is compatible with D6633 but I can't boot it from phone.
It boots only by fastboot boot d:\twrp\twrp.img
I'm a beginner on Android rooting / modding and did not find a solution to include working TWRP into XZ nor rootkernel by myself. Any ideas for that??
How can I include TWRP into my kernel??
What if you try fastboot flash boot d:\twr\twrp.img
