I'm on stock firmware FRD-L14C567B385. The flashes go through successfully, I wipe cache after each but on reboot I get stuck in a bootloop and have to uninstall the magisk or supersu. Any ideas? Thanks.

You can't have magisk and supersu at the same time. Magisk has its own magisksu. It doesn't work with supersu. You have to delete one of them.

Sorry, I worded the title badly... I meant I get the same problem when trying to flash either magisk or supersu.

Hello, I updated to 5.1.9 and after update as usual I flashed twrp 3.2.2.0 and then the installer, rebooted then flashed magisk 16.7. Now Everytime I reboot I get this message "There is a internal problem with your device, please contact your manufacturer for details" I see this is a harmful message but Everytime I reboot it gives me this message. How do I fix this?
Flashing magisk 16.4 or a custom kernel should fix it. Issue with dmverity afaik.

Flashed magisk 16.4, the message doesn't go and I don't want to flash a custom kernel
Ido have the similar issue as well after upgraded to 5.1.9
had updated 5.1.9 through OTA update and tried to install Magisk again before rebooting, but didn't help to keep the root.
fastboot boot with twrp to install twrp
then flash magisk and reboot into system then start getting that message "There's an internal problem with your device. contact your manufacturer for details"
after hitting ok, phone still works fine, except finger print and wifi isn't worki
anyone know how can I fix this issue?
Thank you

Did you flash first the magisk-uninstaller before flashing the magisk 16.4?

Uninstall Magisk and then install Magisk 16.4. Let Magisk update itself after that. Every time I tried to flash 16.6 or 16.7 I got that error message. Just use 16.4 to get it installed, then let Magisk handle updating to newer versions.
Just updated my phone to Open beta 2, dirty flashed it and it booted up. works perfectly fine. but after i tried to flash magisk 17.1 , it won't boot. stuck at the boot animation.
im using blu spark twrp to flash the magisk.
btw i had magisk installed on 5.1.11 and it works fine too.
any suggestions ? thxx.
UPDATE (09/12) : Issues fixed by installing the uninstaller first then install the magisk 17.1 zip. thx to exelinguy.
Try to do the whole flash procedure again.
Boot into recovery
Flash beta2
Flash twrp
Reboot to twrp
Flash magisk
Boot to system
That way it will be installed on both partitions, could/should do the trick.

Flash the Magisk uninstaller first to remove any old files, and then flash 17.1 zip again.

Will upgrading reset the phone or will just upgrade with the same data?

it depends on the situation. If you're on the Open beta updating to a newer build, the data will still be there, but if you're on the open beta downgrading a build or downgrading to oreo, your data will be lost.

When you install rom, install twrp and reboot to twrp it changes slot. If he has done it 2 times both slots are tested.

Refer to section Hotfix v17.1 in topjohnwu's update post

have u tried to flash the open beta rom zip? I got that problem too, it's shows random folder and it contains nothing. but after I flashed the open beta rom and re flash the twrp from fastboot, it's fixed.
Someone help me shed some light. I'm not sure what I did wrong while updating using magisk.
So this is the steps I did.
1. Installed the OTA update
2. In magisk went to install to inactive slot (after OTA)
3. Then it went through the motions and restarted.
At the screen where you put the password in it shut down and then went to the stock recovery. Tried again, same thing. So after some panicking I did this.
Reflashed twrp via computer
Flashed the uninstall of magisk
Flashed twrp zip
Restarted it and everything is fine now. I just had to re-flash the modules which was quite annoying.
So what did I do wrong? Have I buggered up anything to do with the inactive slots or partitions?
Did you uninstall Magisk modules First?

I didn't. The whole point of doing it the way I did was to eliminate the need to uninstall the modules.
Could that be what went wrong?
YES.

So that's what I should have done. Although it is working now could I have caused any problems with the partitions/slots? And what about future updates, could there be any problems using this method (the correct one).
To clarify is this the steps:
Install OTA update (no reboot)
Go to magisk delete the mods
Then install to inactive slot
Flash twrp?
Reboot
Would that be correct?

Go to magisk and delete mods,
Reboot,
Install OTA,
TWRP A/B retention script,
Install magisk to inactive,
Reboot

Sorry to ask but what is "twrp a/b retention script"? Everything else is all clear. Thank you so much.

It's available in Magisk under downloads, and basically backs up your old TWRP install and installs it on the newly updated slot. I have an update guide if you'd like to read it

The exact same thing happened to me! The thread I followed said to 'remove' all Magisk modules which is what caused the problem. You have to delete all Magisk modules, then re-install them when your up & running again

Thank you so much for this. I think I understand now.
I hope I haven't caused any problems to the slots thing on magisk with the mistake I made.
1. Uninstal Magisk mods.
2. Flash Oos in System > Update > Local Update. DON'T reboot.
3. Open Magisk > Downloads > TWRP A/B Retention script. Instal it.
4. From Magisk reboot to twrp. Flash Magisk 19.3 stable.
Reboot to system. You should be updated and rooted.
I rooted my phone using the Magisk patch boot image feature, and was wondering if you can flash the TWRP zip file via magisk to install it? Thanks!

Hi,
yes you can. Grab the latest installer zip and install like any module. Reboot into recovery and flash magisk again.
Reboot into system , and done.
Yeah this is it.

awesome, thanks!
What? I thought the OP asked if it is possible to flash TWRP via the Magisk app? But @soka replied as if to answer how to flash magisk itself? Or am I getting this wrong? How can you flash anything besides official Google signed .zips with stock recovery?

I have to try this... This seems just way too easy...
I have a rooted Oneplus 7 Pro and i want to remove my root and TWRP recovery. Is there a way to do that? Preferably without deleting all my data.

Yes you can, just flash the OOS version you are on currently again.
It is wise to remove all Magisk modules first or to uninstall Magisk in Magisk Manager. Then you can go ahead and either flash OOs as @soka stated or do a local upgrade in the Settings app. That will remove TWRP aswell.
If you don't uninstall your Magisk modules, they can still be on the device and can get you into a bootloop if you happen to choose to root again at some point

well you see i did that and now whenever i root my sim disappears and my phone starts lagging........... so any fix for that?
Edit: I did something and it worked
What I did: 1) went to twrp
2) flashed the latest oos zip
3) flashed twrp and magisk
4) reboot to system and the sim will work and there is no lag.

Maybe it didn't uninstall successfully and reflashing OOS did fix something. Either way, glad it works now :good:
