Flash TWRP Via Magisk? - OnePlus 7 Pro Questions & Answers

I rooted my phone using the Magisk patch boot image feature, and was wondering if you can flash the TWRP zip file via magisk to install it? Thanks!

Hi,
yes you can. Grab the latest installer zip and install like any module. Reboot into recovery and flash magisk again.
Reboot into system , and done.

Yeah this is it.

awesome, thanks!

What? I thought the OP asked if it is possible to flash TWRP via the Magisk app? But @soka replied as if to answer how to flash magisk itself? Or am I getting this wrong? How can you flash anything besides official Google signed .zips with stock recovery?

(This is the Magisk zip file you should already have flashed from rebooting into TWRP now)

I have to try this... This seems just way too easy...

[MOD] Remove Navbar - Root 8.1 beta 1

I had a request to make a Magisk friendly mod to remove the navbar. I don't have this phone and so this has not been tested by me. Thanks to @Fede Luzzi for the necessary files and testing. His steps for a successful install is as follows:
Version 8.1 beta 1, disable lockscreen security for twrp to work.
Flash twrp via fastboot via :
Fastboot flash boot xxxx.img
Boot into recovery
Flash boot IMG for versión 8.1 beta.
Flash magisk 15.3
Flash Tulsadiver zip
Boot
Navbar Gone Magisk zip

@Fede Luzzi,
I have an Magisk aroma mod module maker for you or someone to try. Flash in TWRP. Install the first selection that is a base (it is already selected). Select any mods you want in the Aroma. Hit next. Magisk module maker is already selected for you. Hit next again. A magisk.zip is created on your sdcard in a folder called Magisk. When back in TWRP go find that zip and flash it.
Have a backup though I included a return to stock mod.
There are center clock mods which obviously do you no good with that sensor in the middle of your screen but I left them there anyway.

Hi !
I had an issue with my phone and i made a full wipe, when i was trying to install your mod (i love it ) i found out that with the last magisk 16, your installer is not able to detect magisk so it wont install. I had to install magisk 15.3, install your mod, then update to magisk 16.
I want to inform you because probably this is happening with all your magisk mods.
THanks for the great work!!

update to 5.1.7

hi guys i am on 5.1.6 oos rooted twrp installed now i want to update to 5.1.7 so can i update just like that in updater app or should i have to do any prerequisites
Don't do it. 5.1.8 will be released end of next week and you will be doing this all over again. I was going to myself but I'm waiting until the next release until someone pushes full writeup and review
You can install it via the update manager. But yes, you are going to lose twrp and root, which is not a problem at all since it took me only like 5 minutes to get it all working again.
I followed this guide: https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6/how-to/guide-how-to-install-official-twrp-t3801558

Lol... And after that there will be a new build in another week...
The more updates, the better. We won't complain, do we? I'm glad, we don't suffer for updates like SAMEsung-users do.

Updating via twrp and then (before reboot) re flashing twrp.zip and magisk will grant you to maintain twrp and root

Did you successfully do it? If yes please tell what procedure you followed.
Do I need to backup internal? Or my apps?
Thanks.

if u update through the OS like updater app or anything, u will have to re-flash twrp using the fastboot method, if you already have twrp installed then just update via twrp with full zip, install twrp installer zip, and then magisk (i usually reboot back to recovery after i install twrp installer then flash magisk). Then you are done, u do not lose anything and do no wipe anything either

Should i have to change slot after twrp flash of full rom
The easiest way is to download and install the update through the settings app then BEFORE you reboot open Magisk, click install then install to second slot.
No flash or worrying

Download the ota.zip, reboot to TWRP, flash ota, flash TWRP.zip, reboot to OS, reboot to recovery again if you want magisk and install magisk zip. Done. No data loss or changing settings.

Can't install Magisk 17.1 on OxygenOS Pie Open Beta 2

Just updated my phone to Open beta 2, dirty flashed it and it booted up. works perfectly fine. but after i tried to flash magisk 17.1 , it won't boot. stuck at the boot animation.
im using blu spark twrp to flash the magisk.
btw i had magisk installed on 5.1.11 and it works fine too.
any suggestions ? thxx.
UPDATE (09/12) : Issues fixed by installing the uninstaller first then install the magisk 17.1 zip. thx to exelinguy.
Try to do the whole flash procedure again.
Boot into recovery
Flash beta2
Flash twrp
Reboot to twrp
Flash magisk
Boot to system
That way it will be installed on both partitions, could/should do the trick.

it depends on the situation. If you're on the Open beta updating to a newer build, the data will still be there, but if you're on the open beta downgrading a build or downgrading to oreo, your data will be lost.

When you install rom, install twrp and reboot to twrp it changes slot. If he has done it 2 times both slots are tested.

Then tell me why I have both?!
If I flash patched boot.img, I have Magisk, ok.
If I have Magisk and I flash TWRP with it, I have TWRP but after Reboot no Magisk.
But I still have both? Means Magisk is flashed with TWRP?!

You can have both. But in TWRP, internal storage is not mounted so you can see your files. You have to wait for TWRP update for that

How can you have both, if you can't fastboot boot TWRP??
Otherwise read again what I wrote before...I flashed Magisk with TWRP, how that if internal storage isn't working like you said?

Flashed patched boot.img with TWRP, no issues.
Flashed Magisk with TWRP, also no issues.

I have lost about 6 hours on flashing 10 OB (all of my mistakes) and finally it works, twrp and root!
But I had to return to 958 patch boot of 10 and then flash 10 again..
The boot file from link above never work for me.
No problems for me with clean flash OB1
i fixed this by going back to pie, then android 10 official (using oxygen updater app), when i flashed in trwp i did oos.zip, then twrp zip then magisk zip. after that, magisk was enabled, and i can reboot to twrp

Are you merely trying to root 9.5.13? If so, you can fastboot boot TWRP, then in TWRP flash Magisk, and Magisk will patch the boot image itself. No need to get the patched boot img separately.

That's fine and all. But on the other hand, no reason not to use the TWRP method. You don't need to install TWRP to the device to flash Magisk. Just boot TWRP, flash Magisk, and you are rooted.
