I've looked at tons of posts about buying this phone off eBay and how it has an unlocked version of the 20i software that is at a software level.
I've seen posts of people abroad on here finding 3rd party services able to unlock these phones permanently.
Can anyone help me out?

Hi. Last month I bought a LG Fathom (which is a Verizon phone). It is a WM 6.5.3 phone and supports both CDMA and GSM, it has both MEID and IMEI number. In the past month, I ordered many unlock codes from different sellers but they couldn't find it. I need to find that 8 digit unlock I'm ready to pay anything to unlock my phone, so if you even know something like "Octopus Box" for LG Fathom, I will be very happy to learn that. Please share any of your opinion with me, I really need your help to unlock that phone.
Thanks
I also bought a lg fathom what vs750 told to activate it themselves. I do not live in the U.S.. how to unlock and activate this?
Sorry if I missed this post somewhere. Was considering buying the Moto G from either Boost or Verizon prepaid. I see numerous ROM's for this phone, but was wondering if this phone is still able to be bootloader unlocked/rooted for either carrier (I ask STILL because I got burned on the LG L9 encrypted bootloader on newer models). I did see posts about paying some guy in china to unlock it, is there an alternative? Thanks all!
Assuming that TMOB does not lock the bootloader so that the S7 variants can be rooted and custom roms eventually installed, what is the best way for a non-TMOB customer to outright purchase a TMOB variant of the S7 so that it could be unlocked and used on another carrier, like T, that locks their bootloader?
I am going to assume here that TMOB will use the same TMOB Remote Device Unlock App that requires the IMEI to be in their DB and registered. Looking at the TMOB pre-paid site, the phones available seem not to be very modern so I would guess S7 will not appear there for many years.
Is it as simple as going to a TMOB store and doing an outright purchase without a plan?
Last time, I pre-ordered a Note 4 prior to release and had to setup service and cancel within 30 days which was a bit of pain.
I am looking for a simpler retail channel.
:fingers-crossed:
Right there with ya, would love to find out.
Carriers in the US are finding new ways to keep users from unlocking phones and moving to other carriers. These new monthly installments and required post paid plans are one of those ways. Best bet would be hoping for third-party unlocking services to work with t-mobile's version soon after launch.

I'm in the same boat, but I don't believe a simpler retail channel exists. Each release since the S6 has been locked down with the TMOB app and even direct customers have a hard time unlocking within the first 21 days. Threads on XDA discussing carrier unlock reach hundreds of posts - never seems to be an answer other than buy the device outright and request an unlock code after 30days. =/
Found this place that is supposed to be able to unlock TMOB's crapulance. I have not idea if they really can do it though.

unlockbase.com also advertises they can too, but when I emailed them specifically about the S7 they said they were not sure.
I'm wondering whether there will be an unlocked 64gb (or hopefully 128gb!) variant that could accept a TMo stock-based ROM & utilize WiFi calling & all TMo LTE bands.
I'm glad this thread was started, I'm looking to buy the tmobile s7 outright and was trying to figure out how I was gonna unlock it.
My tmobile s5 had an unlocked bootloader, I'm hoping for the same with the s7... Anyone know if the tmobile s6 came with unlocked bootloader?
I got the phone unlocked for $20USD and different SIMs calls/txts work fine.
But I cannot edit the APN.
Do I need to wait for root or is there a method?
Thanks.
Boost Mobile LG Stylo 2 LS775 ZV5
I have the same freacking problem. APN is greayd out. Been looking all over for the solution.
On my original Stylo (rooted 5.1.1), I use a free app called "Shortcut Master (lite)" available on the Play Store, but I do believe it requires root permission to access the hidden APN menu. Just got this new Stylo 2 (Boost LS775) and trying to figure it out now, so if I do I will definitely report back here! (if you don't hear anything, I am stumped) We NEED root on this damn thing!
Hope this helps
I've been researching how to unlock 2 phones I had purchased for me and my daughter for Christmas and came across this forum. In another thread on a similar forum for the LS775 - http ://androidforums. com/threads /help-rooting-lg-stylo-2.1044670/page-29 - the posts by Anthonykb seem to suggest that you can have shell access to many of the hidden menus within the phone. Might very well be worth the read and the solution you're looking for. His instructions seem very easy to follow (have to remove the spaces in the link - I'm new so had to break it up).
My own question is how did you get the unlock codes? I purchased 2 LG Stylo 2 LS775 phones from Best Buy because their website said they were unlocked. Being a cell phone novice, despite them being virgin mobile phones, I took the Best Buy website at face value and a friend said he read some time in 2015 they started manufacturing them unlocked. So here we are after Christmas, and the 14 day return period and I find they are actually carrier locked to Virgin and Virgin Mobile has been very uncaring of our situation to say the least and refuse to supply the unlock codes unless we pay for service for a year despite me asking nicely as websites have advised lol. If their service was worth a crap here where I live I'd probably just switch from Tracfone where I currently have an account. So not wanting to wait a year to use our first smart phones, I am searching for a safe and inexpensive way to unlock them. I saw all the unlock websites but they seem very fishy. I haven't even activated the phones yet as I'm sort of at a loss as to what to do at the moment. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I sold it before that new development on that forum. I found a guy who remote desktopped to my pc and direct unlocked the phone for $20usd if you want his details let me know. That Anthonykb post looks extremely interesting in terms of being able to edit the apn after the unlock (as unlocking the boost stylo 2 didnt unlock apn edit ability)
I received the Boost Mobile version of the lg stylo 2 as a gift for xmas. The phone is not unlocked and i have not activated it yet. I have Tmobiles prepaid plan on the phone im using now and want to keep it. Does anyone know a way to unlock the phone without activating it through Boost so i could use my Tmobile sim or maybe edit the apn. I read on Boost mobiles website you have to have service a year to require it from them and thats def not an option. Any help or input would be gladly appreciated.
Thanks, Mrw187, appreciate the offer, but I think I'll look locally. These are our first smartphones, so the more I tinker, the more I'm learning. Best Buy misrepresenting the phones online could turn out to be quite the boon to catapult me into modern times - hopefully I don't accidentally turn them into paperweights lol.

Hi, i have a problem with a T-mobile LG G5 H830. Bought the phone last year and it was unlocked and i used it on a different network ever sense. Last night i update the phone to Android 8.0 over LG bridge and now the phone is network locked. When i go to the Device Lock application to unlock it, it says "Unlock Faild: This mobile device is not eligible for unlock. For device Unlock eligibility details, please go online or contact Customer Care. Has anyone run into the same problem, i am currently in Europe and dont know what to do, can anyone help. Thanks in advance.

The person in this thread found a method:

When I had my G5, I bought it used off of eBay, the seller wasn’t able to unlock for some reason. I was able to unlock it with a Mint Mobile SIM, which was a T-Mobile sub company. I hate the greedy phone service companies we have in the USA.
Hope that link helps you!
