Nokia 3 clock - Nokia 3 Questions & Answers

Hello guys. Anyone with a Nokia 3 noticed the stock clock stoping randomly? Hapenned to my twice and didn't woke up because the alarm didn't worked. I changed the automatic hour setting but even so it stoped. Any ideas? Thanks

No problems with alarm but I've noticed that. I hope it is fixed on 7.1.1. The clock on status bar, the one on the notification bar and the one on the lock screen sometime doesn't sync. Or to be precise as you said, the ones on status and notification bars stop.

I'm also hoping 7.1.1 will fix this
I had to remove the status bar clock because of that

It isn't fixed by far as far as my issue goes. Does anyone have this weird manifestation ?

I'm having the same issue, happening on 2 different Nokia 3, both on 7.1.1.
Missed my alarm multiple times now, this is a really annoying issue.

Only on the lock screen works as it should. Maybe it is cause we enabled system ui tuner ?

I did reset my system ui, and disabled dev options.
Also, i was having a chat with Nokia supportm they suggested these steps:
Can you please go to Settings -> Date and time and check if it is set to Automatic date and time and Automatic time zone?
Also, can you please go to Settings -> Apps -> Clock -> Storage -> Clear cache data
So, you can also go to Settings -> Apps -> Clock -> Disable, restart and Enable it again (after you cleared the Cache data)

No idea if it fixed the issue, but i'll post it as reference here, maybe it's useful to somebody.

Will try that second part of the fix if the issue reaccures

Try to update clock from PlayStore.

I have the same issue, missed 1h of work because of it, boss called me why I haven't shown up at work...
I'm going to switch to gps time update instead of network, I'll check if that "fixes" the problem.

Factory resetted my phone after another session with nokia support, after the previously mentioned staps did not yield the results i wished for.
For the moment, it is working again, let's see if it stays that way.

This should not be related to gps/network settings, it is the time that is bugged out on status bar and notification shade. The one on the lock screen works perfectly. So it comes to desynchronization between them. As soon as you turn off the clock/or set to shows the seconds in the system ui tuner the time is right on with the pace, in other words works fine. This is the "clue" for me to blame the system ui. Try the show the seconds method as a fix, but this should not be tolerated for the Nokia/Hmd.

I never had this kind of problem, it syncronyses perfectly.

Maybe you did not set to automatic date and time

Hold finger on gear(pull down the notification shade to find it) for a few seconds until it rotates after you release it. Then go to settings all the way down to system ui tuner then to status bar, find clock and here you can select default (h and m) disable, and option for (h m and seconds).
Sent from my TA-1032 using Tapatalk

If the problem still is.. On Nokia 5 we have this "Battery optimization" feature which doesn't allow apps to sync very often. If there is such a feature on Nokia 3, try turning it off on Clock app or anything that could be causing it. Maybe it will work.

This isn't related to clock app, it's due to systems clock calculation. I've even disabled clock app and the time would still operate but after a while it stops.
I must say after October update to 7.1.1 this issue no longer persists.

Search GPS location appears frequently

Hi
I am been using Android for long time. The last Samsung mobile I used is S4 and I was using HTC M8 (Sense converted to GPe) before S6. I have my GPS is set to High because I used to use Maps for navigation a lot. But in S6, the notification panel keeps showing "Searching GPS location.." very often where I am not even using the Navigation. Is there something wrong?
Thanks
Not sure if its due to the weather app which will check location? I see the same happening on my phone too.
My weather is set to update every 6 hours but I see the GPS icon in the status bar pretty frequently.

Thanks. The stock samsung weather widget was still up on the homescreen using the Touchwiz launcher. I removed it and will keep an eye out for the GPS notification.
EDIT// That did not resolve the issue. Oh wells.

The frequency of getting the notification is very less for me. I also turned off the auto syncing. I didn't see the notification in last 24 hrs.

First Impressions of Android 7

I have had this update for about 10 days now and I seem to have issues I never had with this phone before. Nothing major, just annoying things like notifications for SMS not being 100% reliable, and if I use the keypad on a call it seems to add a number press when I put the phone to my ear and now for the first time, I am having trouble with my PC and my phone getting into file transfer mode. Has anyone else had anything strange happen since the update? Or am I just the lucky one.
So far it's fixed all of my issues. With my auto brightness, Bluetooth, and my locking issues. Haven't had any of the ones you've listed.

Late notification in Nougat can be due to the more aggressive Doze. Turn off Optimization for your sms app to solve it.
The update did solve the sensor stop working bug they introduced in the last few updates, but yeah there are quirks I don't like:
- The checkbox to enable/disable auto brightness is now buried another click deeper.
- Samsung Themes are now not fully compatible with this Samsung Nougat update. #genius
- Status bar font is too small and weirdly tall.
- In optimized mode the lock screen disappears after 3 seconds. It's useless and there isn't a setting to increase this.
- the notification slider theme is horrendously difficult to read. Font is too small, locked to black on white text. It needs to go back to how it was.
On the flip side, the App drawer now auto sorts alphabetically. Only took them this long to solve that!

Interesting...but I'm not seeing most of that. What do you mean by "optimized mode" for the screen? In the display settings under "screen mode" I've got:
Adaptive display
AMOLED cinema
AMOLED photo
Basic
i'm set on Adaptive display. In the Screen Timeout section I've got it set to one minute. I put the phone down and timed it on my watch. the screen dimmed at 50 seconds and turned off at exactly 1 minute....so seems to be working unless I'm looking at something different than you?
Status bar font doesn't look too small to me but of course "too small" is subjective. Still, my old eyes are not as good as they used to be and I can read it fine without my glasses on. Tried swtiching screen resolutions back and forth between max an 1920x1080 and didn't notice a difference between them, just to see if it was a resolution issue.
Question I always as after a major OS update: Have you done a factory reset? I have not yet. I usually run it for a while as is and do a reset when I get some time. But in the past i've seen a reset cure any number of issues.
I've only noticed 2 things wrong.
No keyboard vibration feedback when on a call.
After google play services updated my gmail emails not coming automatically. Removing/adding my google account fixed that.

Its not optimized mode for the screen. Its Power Optimized Mode (go to the settings battery menu). My comment was for the "lock screen" dissappearing after 3 seconds. This is the screen that pops up when you turn on power and BEFORE you unlock the phone. It shows summaries of notifications... for all of 3 useless seconds.

I have not reset the phone and refuse to unless something in the OS simply cannot be resolved. Just like I'm not going to reformat my Windows PC drive if a program has a bug. You should reset your system/dalvik cache. Although that should be done automatically during the update.

I too don't reformat my Windows PC to fix a bug. But I do do it after a major OS update such as Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 for example. No, you don't have to but...
Any way to turn on autocorrect in the quick reply feature? When I hit reply and the keyboard pops up (standard Samsung keyboard) auto correct and predictive text do not appear not function leaving me to have to go back and retype my errors. It literally appears and works everywhere else.
I can't seem to change the font size in the Message app. The setting doesn't stick. Anyone else?
Problem I have with the update is phone calls always start off with the external speaker. I have to tap the speaker icon a couple times to get the internal speaker going.

I have changed my font to Samsung Sans and it changed in the messaging app with no issues. I'm using Samsung's default messaging app.
Honestly I'm having zero issues since the update. I did a factory reset following the update. I realize we shouldn't have to do this but I do it after every big update just to be sure.

It's not just changing the font. I changed mine to Samsung Sans as well and it worked fine. My issue was in the Messages app, in Settings -> Font Size, if I tried to change the font size it wouldn't stick. The font was a tad small so I wanted to increase it one level. I realized last night that once you're in the Font Size menu the header is just plain white (at least on my phone) so it looks like there is no way to back out. I was using the back button which probably cancelled the edit. I tried again but clicking the blank header and now it's working. Am I the only one who sees the white only header? All other menus seem to have the header describing the screen with back (less than) symbol, e.g. "< MESSAGES SETTINGS" but it's missing on the Font size menu.

Not sure if this is your issue, but many interface issues, including unreadable white headers, stem from the fact that Themes from prior Android versions (even Samsung Themes) are NOT fully compatible with Nougat. If you attempt to re-apply your theme then you should get that warning. I had to apply a brand new theme to solve my header issues.

Glitches on the Pixel on Android Oreo

Hey these are just a few things that i have found that are not completely broken but annoying enough to talk about.
First one is on some apps I am getting double notifications. Not that there are 2 of the same notifications in the tray but i get 2 sound alerts and too vibrate alerts. Not every app is doing this though which leads me to believe it may be an app optimization issue. This also get translated to android wear btw.
Second is voice dictation in the Stock google keyboard. Sometimes it will fail and other times it will be fine. random issue so no really way to lock down the cause.
Third is camera sluggishness all around. Double tapping the power button is slower than it has been and in the app changing modes or viewing pictures is also a slight issue.
Anyone else have these issues?
Having the same issue with the voice dictation in Gboard. It turns on and shuts off immediately.

Have you tried 1) deleting cache, 2) toggling notification on/off in app, 3) clearing app data, and/or 4) uninstalling/reinstalling app? I would try these things in the stated order and observe the app behavior each time. Let us know how things turn out. Thanks.

I'm seeing the same on my Px and Px XL. Twitter and Slack. Clearly, the issue is app-specific. I tried all of the above but no joy. I have noticed that if the phone is not asleep, then there is no double sound. This may support your theory of app optimization. I will next try uninstalling/reinstalling the app to see if it makes a difference.
Hmm I may check this myself about the sleep issue

I am having the same double notification issues as well. Same apps, Twitter particularly. I also used the OTA directly from the August 7.1.2. In addition my battery drain has been ridiculous today. I attempted to clear cache for all apps only to find that Google has removed that control from both the OS settings as well as via stock Recovery. That's right, you can no longer format the /cache partition. I wish they'd at least moved it into Developer options instead of removing it entirely.
I've manually cleared Google Play services data and cache for several apps showing high battery usage in the new battery settings. I've also limited background usage for apps like Facebook, Snapchat, etc.
I've uninstalled/reinstalled Twitter with the hope that the app will register under O [perhaps properly] and resolve the issue. No joy. I would seem that the app devs for Twitter, Slack, Tapatalk, etc. will need to fix the code to work under O. I recently saw another app updated with "Fixed Android O notifications" in the change log.
Relatedly, I have a custom ringtone set with Twitter, but the double tone I hear is the phone's default tone. I have not been able to get the custom-selected tone to play. Something else for Twitter to fix.

For wiping cache, if you are rooted or bootloader unlocked, you can use Flashfire or boot to TWRP.
My battery life on O (observed on two Pixels) is definitely not as good as N.
Weird. Battery life for me is incredibly better. I mean like.. Is there a reporting problem? How can this be so much better? Only one day in but I'm liking what I see.

For the double notification sound, my workaround is to use Lightflow. I already had it for other purposes, so I set the native app [e.g., Twitter] for no sound and set LF to make the sound. All is good.

I meant is the battery indicator reporting it wrong. I was being facetious but I have not noticed any unusual battery drain. On N when I used Strava and gps for 3 hours or so I'd end up with about 55% left and then plug in for a quick charge. On O I wound up with 67% left which was pretty good. After a few days I think there are some things that are better but overall about the same as N.
I've had it today where the screen on time in the battery stats is stuck. So it's been reading 1hr 15min screen on time regardless of how much I use it... Something is a bit off with battery reporting it seems
Regarding the double sound, this is what I have discovered:
1) Go to Twitter app and set the notification for no sound
2) Go to settings/apps/Twitter, select notifications. You will see a bunch of granular notification settings. Once I made the desired setting there, no more double sounds and the tone is what I desired.

If you do not mind sharing, how you restore all your apps data and phone settings in 10-15 mins?
I have had several issues with the final O release. I updated OTA straight from beta and even factory reset without restoring data and apps.
Definitely having the Gboard microphone issue.
Was also having a lot of wifi connectivity issues. The phone would randomly not connect to several wifi networks and started dropping wifi once connected alot.
Battery life is also atrocious especially when navigating. I used maps for 20 minutes with the screen off and had nearly a 20% drain.
I contacted project fi and received a replacement device which I'm going to keep at 7.1.2 for the time being.
Incidentally the beta worked perfectly nearly for months. All this started after the final OTA to the production release.

Works perfectly well on my Note 9 with pie/One ui so I don't see any reason not to.
I'm planning to get S10+ and after installing Nova, Fluid gesture is the second thing I do!
I received my phone yesterday (US - Snapdragon) and I can report that FNG works perfectly fine.
Nice find, If the ADs in this are not a pain in the ass I will swap from using https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.xda.nobar&rdid=com.xda.nobar
this one uses less permissions.
Anyone noticed a bug that the fingerprint button is too low when using FNG. I only realised today to press above the sesnor to login in apps

Yep, it has some bugs. The FP icon is lower than it should be because the phone should shows up navbar but fluid tries to hide it.
I had the same issue. Hope developer can find the way to work out that issue.

Im getting this too. It kinda sux but it's not a deal breaker... for now.
In Fluid Navigation gestures unhide nav bar the icon issue gets resolved.

Ok I found another way that's much smoother. First in Samsung settings disable gesture navigation, so the navigation bar is visible.
Then you need to hide the navigation bar from Fluid Navigation gestures.
I found if you have both enabled they keep fighting each other.

If you use that way, the fingerprint sensor location show up not correctly, it needs to be a little bit higher because you hide the navigation bar by adb command.
I found the best way to use any navigation bar gesture without samsung and other apps fighting each other but you will need 'setting database edit' app. I am still testing it since yesterday night and it is running flawlessly so far.
Please do tell I see the way I did it, it comes up hit or miss on the correct location. I have gotten used to it. I'm still getting used to this phone, the oneplus 6 was just a lot more intuitive. This phone i have been fiddling for 3 days. I kind of like how it is now
Why don't u use One Hand Operation+ from Samsung? It works better. I prefer the default Samsung gestures though. I guess big hands make it easier to use.

Got my S10+ today. Got Fluid Navigation Gestures working fine so far but after i locked the phone and i am back in there is than no gestures and no navbar so i am kinda stuck.
Anybody else got that problem? If so you got any solution to fix it?
So I have it running but the fingerprint has moved down to the bottom of the screen any idea on a fix or have I stuffed something up?

Hi, i found that feature, but after restart phone that reset and you will must do it again.
1. download SetEdit app from Google Play
2. in fluid app let hide bar setting disabled (don't hide navbar by this app) and enable gesture control by fluid.
3. Set the gesture control in the system settings (original by samsung)
4. Run SetEdit app and in Global Table find
navigation_bar_gesture_disabled_by_policy set value to 1
navigation_bar_gesture_while_hidden set value to 1
You may be prompted to grant authorization SetEdit app through ADB.
That's work perfectly for me, but maybe don't for you, be careful.
I apologize for not linking the apps, but I can't. I'm a new user and I don't have enough posts

That's a great solution and works great! You're an absolute life saver!! The only issue is that the 'navigation_bar_gesture_disabled_by_policy' value keeps reverting back to 0 every so often which makes it quite annoying to keep on.
Is there a fix for this? That would be great!

Inconsistent notifications

Hey guys,
So have the Chinese version with the Chinese ROM still.
I have noticed that sometimes apps no longer give me notifications unless I open them.
For example, if I do not open Gmail it does not auto download the emails and does not notify me of new mails.
WhatsApp does not always tell me I have new messages unless I open it etc.
I have tried to check the power settings and such and cannot find anything.
This happens regardless of whether I am on mobile data or WiFi.
Any ideas what may be causing this and how to stop it? I'd like to get my notifications as I receive new WhatsApp messages and emails etc.

I can't find the source or any helpful guide to fixing it, but I swear I remember seeing something about how MIUI prevents some notifications from reaching you by default for some reason.
I'm pretty sure there was also ways to get around it as much as possible, but another solution is to flash a custom rom.
Hmm, I did a quick Google and saw something about battery optimization but could only find MIUI optimization.
Will keep looking, hoping the global ROM will fix it though?

For emails, I suggest turning on auto sync. Maybe other notifications will get fixed too. Do note that turning on auto sync will result in more battery usage.

It is and has been on from the beginning. So that's not the cause.
Still experiencing this issue. Had full signal earlier and had a friend try to call me 3 times in WhatsApp and only got the notifications when I opened WhatsApp.

(I'm assuming most of the settings in MIUI 8 are still available in MIUI 10)
MIUI is VERY aggressive when it comes to controlling apps running in the background (when in this phone is completely unnecessary given the massive battery), I would do 2 things to fix these problems:
1) Look in "Battery and Performance" > "Manage Apps battery usage" look for the app you want notifications to work properly select it and select "no restrictions", or you can just turn off power saving mode completely and every app will show notifications properly
2) Look for a setting named " about this phone" or something similar, in the "MIUI version" tap 7 times till you get a message "you are now a developer" .
Go back to settings, select "additional settings" and look for "developer options" , go to the bottom and disable MIUI Optimization.
These two actions should fox notification problems and also RAM management, you apps won't be suddenly closed when running in background.
Quick note: after a few years, when battery starts showing it's age and your phone starts rebooting randomly , turning on MIUI Optimizations might come handy, it will work similar to iOS, slowing the performance a bit and limiting the amount of background processes to lower the battery draw, your phone might run a little worse, but it won't have random restarts.
Again, I currently use MIUI 8, so some names might have little variations, but the steps should be similar.
Hope it helps and sorry for my english

Here's a possible solution.
Open Security App > Manage Apps > Select app
> Enable "Autostart"
> Notifications > Enable "Show notifications" and "App icon badge" > enable the following toggles for all notifications found under NOTIFICATION CATEGORIES > "Show notifications", "Floating notifications", "Lock screen notifications" and "notification light" (also "Sound" and "Vibration" if needed).
> Battery Saver > No restrictions
In order to prevent MIUI from killing specific background apps you need to do this:
> Open each app separately > Go to "Recents" menu to see the apps running in background > long press on each app separately and lock it by tapping the lock icon.
> Reboot the device
Please report back and let me know if this has solved your notifications problem or not.
Thanks guys, I will give the above a try and see if it works and if so which setting(s) fixed. Y issue.
Will report back once I've had a chance to test it all.
