Is anybody able to use Ultra Power Saver button feature of Lenovo P2 with custom ROM's (lineage os or some other)?
Any way to install this feature into them?

I guess this button triggers a feature that is developed by Lenovo specifically for the P2. I guess having that in lineage and other custom work would require coding such a function. Which does not seem impossible.
I tried to guess what this feature does, it seems to mainly stop any running app, Bluetooth, wifi, data, nfc, put the phone in Extreme power saver mode and show a black screen with big numbers and a set of icons to a limited number of applications like the phone and other things I cannot remember. Leaving the "Ultra Power Saver" state restores Bluetooth, wifi, data, nfc if they were enabled.
I guess that you'd need to have support for this button in lineage (maybe it is the case for kernels that are based on stock kernel) and somehow associate this button to this feature, but I don't know Android well enough to know how one would do that. It would be not essential but nice to have as far as I'm concerned. I would also like to be able to use this button for other things.
In case I run into a situation in which I need to save power to such extents, I would turn wifi, bluetooth, data, nfc off, put the phone in extreme power saver mode and force close apps that are likely running in the background (instant messaging, mails, file / contact syncing / backup, integration with computers,…).

[Q] Help with SG5 gripes "features"

There are a few things I don't care for in my new SG5. Hoping someone could help:
- Default applications won't stick. For instance I have several different applications that could open to make a phone call (Phone, Talkatone, skype, etc). It doesn't matter which one I select they always pop up for me to select again.
- When battery level is down (I think around 10%) it automatically turns down the brightness level (wayyyyy down. I can barely see it) and disables the brightness control in notification bar. It also disables camera altogether (not just flash). I would like to be able to decide what I want to use those last minutes of juice for. Maybe instead of my phone extending the battery so I can make a call I would like to use that juice to take an important picture. In the past I've only seen the flash disabled, now it's the ability to use the camera altogether.
- Is there anyway to get rid of the quick connect and S finder buttons on the pulldown notification bar?...and while at it is there a way to get rid of the toggles altogether or at least make them way smaller. I like a clean notification bar. To me this is just clutter.
- The ultra power saving mode is cool, but I wish you could make it so it automatically goes into that mode under certain conditions (i.e. when the screen is turned off or when the battery falls below a certain threshold). In addition I wish I could pick what apps I could use under this mode not just the ones that came pre-defined with the phone. I understand that obviously that may affect how long the battery would last given that any app could consume a lot more power than the pre-defined ones.
I know (hope) over time as ROMs start to appear all of these "wishlist" features will be made available, but was wondering whether there are already ways to do this.
I second the removal of the s finder and quick connect
It makes no sense for the phone to go into ultra power saving mode when u put the screen to sleep
You wouldnt be able to use it right away
You would have to wait the 10 seconds for it to come out of ultra ps mode every time u feel like checking fb
But auto turning on after a certain percent would be nice

yes, this is VERY annoying
and what is even more annoying is it gives you a stupid reminder on how to reset setting that app as a default every time...its just 1 more extra button to press all the time

Am I the only one having problems with power saving mode after Marshmallow?

Hi
I know it states "Restricting location services and most background data" so every time I lock my phone, I can't get messages through Facebook Messenger or Snapchat and when I open the app I should wait a few seconds for it to reconnect.
I find this new power saving mode annoying, as I can't choose to turn this specific thing off, so I can't use power saving mode to save power by lowering screen brightness and CPU without losing the ability to actually use the smartphone the way it should be used.
Is there any workaround for this?
Thanks in advance

All I can think about now is to wait for a "battery saving" kernel, of course, only if you have already knocked (or don't mind) tripping KNOX.

It's tripped long long time ago.
On XtreStoLite beta 2 for Marshmallow with Adam Kernel. Not looking for more ways to save juice. Looking for a way to activate power saving mode, will still allowing things like Facebook Messenger to be able to use background data.
Yeah man i was downloading and i set my phone to saving mode then i was thinking it will be finished i checked my phone i found i didnt even download 1mb from 2.2Gb
There is a white list option in doze settings in Greenify? Will try it out and report back.

simples tips and tricks to make this device awesome right now

with stuff we got
Here are mines, mostly based on personnal/subjective stuff, but I spent quite some time digging this out for me so let's share.
Whats the best custom ROM LOLOLOL ?
AICP might be https://forum.xda-developers.com/lenovo-p2/development/7-1-1-aicp-12-1-n-7-1-1rxx-lenovo-p2-t3576216
Provided you want those extra shiny custom things built over Lineage.
This is to my knowledge the only custom ROM here receiving OTA updates (correct me if I'm wrong). Nightly updates.
RR feels more polished, but no updates since second release and issues updating Magisk. (Well some had, other didn't, I know I did).
On a side note RR can go MicroG way using those scripts for more privacy and battery related interests https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/microg-unofficial-installer-t3432360
Haven't tried with AICP yet.
This is a subject on his own, so tell me if you're interested. Otherwise go OpenGapps ARM64/7.1 http://opengapps.org/ (I suggest Pico then you install everything else you might need from google on the playstore).
Mandatory custom Rom stuff
1- No Volte.
2- No Volte, at least for a long long time.
3- Stop asking.
4- No fingerprint back button. 3rd party app might do the trick, but everyone should use the mighty copied but never surpassed pie https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1330150 ... And never need anything else again to control their phone.
4- If you experience idle battery drain reported as usb related by good monitor apps like Better Battery Stats, just remember to plug and unplug AC after each reboot. Not too tedious.
5- Use this mehod to get LED notification back https://forum.xda-developers.com/lenovo-p2/themes/lenovo-p2-rooted-custom-led-t3589859
-This got people confused: LED codes are to be entered in each Notification events, and it doens't matter if the main LED controller indicate it's grey, it wont be cause you're using the other one.
-Light Flow is acually awesome and doesn't drain any noticeable amount of juice contrary to what I red.
-If you want to get rid of the perma notif (works as well for LMT pie), don't use legacy version, just block the notification from android by longpressing on them. I will then work without trouble. Don't battery optimize it though.
6- Fast charge should works as expected, although not notified on lockscreen (but the timer will give you a hint).
7- "Battery life is not as good as it is on stock". I haven't made extensive tests being allergic to stock looks and lack of custom-ability, but I can tell you battery life on Aicp is STELLAR with a few tricks:
- battery optimize google play service. Oh yes ! It will works as usual.
Then choose carefully what apps absolutly needs to be left alone on that matter, they are few.
No need for greenify anything anymore unless you have some really "rogue" app (and in that case they should be disinstalled anyway).
- perma-run on data saving mode even in wifi (add your usual wifi at the bottom of the page).
You don't need anyone phoning home on your back anyway, only authorize the apps that absolutly can't do without internet.
Along those one are google contacts and agenda sync (not the apps themselves, another satellites ones). If you use google sync that is to say.
- Disable this 90% of your apps that don't need to run in background or at boot into the advanced mode of the privacy menu.
- Bonus round: manually sync everything including markets, disable all those apps that want to notify or check about things you don't care, get a nice black substratum theme like Flux, maybe make use of the suspend action function (incuded in Aicp and RR) that switch data and gps when screen is off.
Battery might even looks like it recharges itself now what a phone on that matter.
On the contrary speaking about where it falls short:
Sound sucks
Well, it's not that good, not Audiophile one bit. As a music addict I felt really bothered. Highly subjective matter, but after trying many many things I finally got my butt kicked trough my hear with this combination only: Ahrion Dolby https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/soundmod-axon-7-dolby-atmos-t3412342 + Ainur Audio https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/soundmod-ainur-audio-t3450516
Procedure to install them both was a bit tricky:
-distinstalling Dolby with provided .zip
-installing Sauron (disinstall/install as OP says)
-disinstall Audiomod in Magisk
-re-install Dolby. Wich re-installs Audiomod.
Then sonic bliss !
More to come.

Quick question what's micro g?
MicroG allows you to use Gapps without Playservices, thus gaining more control over your battery and privacy while having a still fully functionning phone.
Btw RR was updated 2 days back.
Thanks for all the detailed info.
On the subject of
Camera sucks
I'd very like to hear if someone has dug the most optimal app and settings for this phone.
I'm not really into photo and the few pic I've taken outside looks perfectly fine to my noob eyes.
But on a few occasion I like to storm photos on something and that's better be ok shots :good:
- perma-run on data saving mode even in wifi (add your usual wifi at the bottom of the page).
-You don't need anyone phoning home on your back anyway, only authorize the apps that absolutly can't do without internet.

Can't find suspended action
I'm not able to understand above mentioned things please explain a those if possible.
I'm in aicp latest build.

Data save mode is an android feature found into the data consumption menu.
Suspend action is a custom rom feature found in the custom rom options of RR and AICP. RR has a tile for it, AICP doesn't.
This Custom Ron is great, way better than i expected.

One key - which function should it have

Hi folks,
since it seems that there is the 1st custom rom with working one-key button and the stock function of it is rather useless, i wonder if it might be 1 day remapable. If it is, what would u like to do it?
Lets gather some ideas here. Preferably toggable functions.
I would like to see a keylock function. Prevents any user input, also while screen is on.
Maybe something like the opposite of the stock function. A performance booster by tuning govenor settings in cost of battery.
Toggle one of the toggable system settings (bluetooth, w-lan, NFC etc...)
I can also imagine non toggable functions, if the changing of the two states (down to up and up to down) is seperatly assignable.
eg: moving down to up would launch an app, an activity or a shortcut and moving up to down would kill the foreground app or a given app or would bring u back to homescreen.
Please share ur thoughts.
Best regards, Chillmann
Mute switch like on the OnePlus 5t would be really nice!
I think the best will be the keylock feature....
Anyone from below
# Ultimate power save mode [cuz it may kill most background process]
# Guest mode
# DND
# DND
# Power saver in form of lowering cpu/gpu speed
To me, the most useful one would be the torch.
It's perfect for a simple on/off switch and it's the one I happen to be in need of activating quickly without unlocking the phone
Just allow us to Program it with Tasker... That would be the best outcome.
Would be best to be programmable. But since this is an opinion about what would suit best.. i think the power save option should be programmable.. like Efficiency, Power Save, ect.. to the key switch. But a multi function option to that key would be nice.
This version of los 14.1 (Highwaystar) has onekey working. https://cloud.mail.ru/public/Bw8U/e3wbC13AR
Its not putting the phone into super saving mode as the one we saw in the stock rom, just the regular saving mode
Did any1 try exposed edge along with highwaystar's build?
At least... since tasker can get power save mode status, we can already use it to tweak ps mode a little bit by reducing screen timeout, turn off whatever could be on like wifi, bluthooth and so on or even load a kernel auditor profile... Not bad so far...

Tried it myself and its not recognizing an event while using powersave key.
And i can confirm a bug, mentioned somewhere else, that locking screen while ps-mode enabled turns screen back on and ps-mode off.

Apps like OOS scheduled power on/off?

Has anyone found an app to automatically turn the phone on/off at certain times like the feature in OOS utilities (scheduled power on/off). I've been using the functionality often but want to have something similar on a custom rom
