I have Galaxy S8 plus G955U1 unlocked version using verizon network and I would like to know if there is any way to have WiFi-Calling working on my device? I have VoLTE but wifi calling is disabled and my phone still has premium care warranty and I do not want Root or flashing rom due to the fact I do not want to mess with my phone. If theres an easy way to get wifi-calling can you suggest me how I heard about shortcut master? Please update me!! Thanks.
I'm in the same boat. I don't think it can be activated without some sort of modification.
Sent from my SM-G955U1 using XDA-Developers Legacy app
I was able to activate video calling through the app called "shortcut master lite" but the wifi calling toggle was there but it is not accessable i think it needs some extra codes to put it in.. wifi calling is enabled but the toggle is disabled.

Yea I can see video calling options on my dialer but I have not tested it if it works, you need to call someone from verizon that has video call also...
If you download "Messages+" app from verizon you can use that app and make txt and mms messages even without signal as long as there is wifi I just found that out today. i tried to put on airplane mode but I was able to make text through that verizon messaging app.
I really need wifi-calling activated badly let me know if you have some news

Someone posted on samsung website telling me he was able to activate wifi calling through that app but he never mention how, im waiting for his response..
When i use video call, LTE remains but it drops the call right away.

Why not just call tech support and have them reprovision your line? There is some settings that need to be reset on their end.
The only way it will work that I know of is to flash the VZW U version. Believe me I've tried everything and this will also give visual voicemail as well.

I got my S8+ (Canadian model G955W) and it was originally with another carrier. I couldn't enable WiFi calling and some other carrier specific stuff did not work. What I did was change the CSC to the carrier I am with. CSC's are responsible for a lot of things, like the quick toggles in notification panel, WiFi calling settings, MMS size limits, etc. You can check the contents of the CSC files at /system/csc/
I suggest you try flashing CSC from a Verizon stock ROM, and then using the following code in the "Dialer" app to switch the CSC: *#272*[device imei]*
Example: *#272*355154154163115*
You should get a screen like the screenshot I attached, which will let your select your CSC.
BACK UP YOUR STUFF WITH SMARTSWITCH OR SAMSUNG CLOUD AS IT WILL DO A FACTORY RESET AND INSTALL THE CORRECT CSC CONFIGURATION!!!
EDIT: Here is the correct CSC pulled from the latest Verizon firmware (G955USQU1AQK3, Nov. 8). Try flashing it with ODIN and let us know if it works after configuring CSC with the dialer code! LINK: https://drive.google.com/open?id=13xboPjVTDuWBqL2jj4bzQiFi-VVSJ3Xj

I bought a sprint N920P for use in Canada. It was sold unlocked but I discovered I couldn't turn on Hotspot or change the APN. After doing some research, I found that flashing the XAS firmware I can enable the hidden settings. I can still receive OTA and Knox is not tripped. The device is unrooted. Samsung Pay is functional. Link to firmware is here. It will wipe everything so backup first!

To get hotspot settings, download Samsung good lock. This will unlock the hidden hotspot settings. You can find good lock in the galaxy apps store and the hotspot toggle in the good lock pull down menu. Long press the hotspot toggle to access hohot settings.
To make sure the new firmware works, check if the firmware wiped your phone. If the phone boots up in the factory reset state, then you're good. If it doesn't try again.
I wouldn't say this is a for sure way. True test after you flash this firmware is to have Sprint Service. Whatever firnware you have, once you pop another SIM into the Sprint Note, 5 the APNS become editable. I popped in a T Mobile SIM and I was able to edit the T Mobile APN.

As I suspected this does not work. He is able to edit the APN because he is on another carrier and not Sprint. Flashing firmware doesn't do anything.

I'm not using sprint either, I have a sprint note 5 but running on Fido network in Canada. I'm hesitant to wipe my phone as the method may not even work. Maybe if OP responds, he can explain how he is able to enable hotspot.
I can access APN settings fine, but the hotspot function is non-existent in settings.

So after downloading Good Lock from the Samsung store hotspot menu seems to popup, but I'm having trouble actually having devices connect to my note 5. The wifi connection is seen, but the farthest I can go is "obtaining Ip address". Does anyone know how to solve this?

You have to install samsung good lock. It's available in the galaxy apps store. Read my OP for more info.
Try on different devices. Does computer work? Does its work? If they all don't work check your mobile data settings, apn settings and Hotspot settings.
So far this is not working for anyone one than the OP. I am considering this a non fix. If someone who has a Sprint phone is able to use Sprint service AND can edit APN that is a fix. Taking a Sprint phone and popping in a SIM from another carrier and being able to edit APN is not a fix but pretty common. Again I took a T Mobile SIM and popped into my Sprint phone and voila I am able to edit T Mobile's APN - because apparently T Mobile does not block access to edit APNs but Sprint DOES. I'm glad this worked for you Justinxfan - here's hoping for a true fix for the rest of us!

If you reboot the phone, upon boot, immediately go into enable hotspot, it will work until you reboot again. I've done this on several road trips with the kids and the unlimited plan comes in handy with three streaming youtube or netflix.

My daughter has an unlocked HTC A9 that just got an Android 7.0 update 2 days ago. Our carrier is T-Mobile USA and when the phone had Android 6.0.1, it had VoLTE and Wi-Fi Calling features working extremely well. Now after Android 7.0 upgrade these 2 particular features are gone from the software.
Can someone with an unlocked HTC A9 on T-Mobile USA check if their VoLTE and Wi-Fi Calling options are missing as well after Nougat upgrade? Thanks in advance.

I did have the option in settings to switch VoLTE on or off, and it does seem to be missing here. If you want to know if it is on or off, go to phone and dial *#*#4636#*#* and click on phone information. Scroll down until you see either turn off volte provisioned flag or turn on volte provisioned flag. If it says turn off volte provisioned flag that means VoLTE is on. For the Wi-Fi calling, there is an option in settings for it I believe. Go to the call tab under setting and scroll all the way down to calling accounts. In that part of settings there is settings for "internet calling". Not sure if this is what you are looking for but this is what I found
Hope it helps, and good luck

I have an HTC A9 (oem unlocked), on T-Mobile USA.
VoLTE and Wi-Fi was not enabled by default until I manually forgot and reconnected to my Wi-Fi network. Afterwards, I went to settings, Call, and scrolled all the way down. There's a new section called "Enhanced Call Service" and VoLTE and WiFi Calling are now options available.

So I deleted/"forgot" all of the Wi-Fi networks. Rebooted the phone. And still no Enhanced Services with VoLTE and Wi-Fi calling area under Settings --> Call. next step would be to do a factory reset and see if that helps.

I'm having the same issue. I'm wondering where the Wi-fi Calling feature is. I have the US Unlocked/Dev edition and the "Wi-fi Calling" tab isn't under "Mobile Data" like it was on 6.0.1 .
I have the unlocked a9 on tmobile and everything worked well immediately after updating.
I have yet to make an actual call over wifi on nougat but sms worked fine and volte certainly works.
The only strange thing is the lte indicator seems to be the verizon one
Perhaps you should try taking the sim out, restarting, putting the sim back in and see if that makes the phone recognise it needs to use tmo settings?

The HTC u12+ for Verizon only has LTE capabilities. So all calls are by default VoLTE. However, WiFi Calling is a no go. It would be awesome if we could get that to work.
The files you need, do they contain any sensitive information about the phone? If not, I could grab you all the ones from my Verizon HTC u12+

WiFi calling did not work. All options were there, it let me uncheck and check, but when I went to make a call it wanted me to turn off airplane mode and wait for a mobile network to be available. and form the screenshot above, there is no mobile data.
Is there a way you can just edit the wifi calling stuff and not mess with the VoLTE. VoLTE is by default already on the phone through verizon
this is also what it shows as default from Verizon
just need to be able to enable the video and wifi calling

The video calling and WiFi calling are turned on under phone information
When going to phone > call > settings I cannot enable the WiFi calling in there. If I click it like 5 times, then it is enabled but it will turn off the time I back out the menu. Also it will not let me choose the preferred calling over WiFi vs Mobile network when it is enabled

Hi sorry but no luck
Here are the steps to activate Jio wifi calling on Asus 6Z. You need to enter code *#*#3642623344#*#* and this will activate special menu under Network settings. You need to deactivate Volte/Enhanced calling switch first then activate wifi calling and after getting wifi calling symbol again reactivate Volte switch. You need to repeat this after every restart of phone.

That's how these cheat code works. It does the job in background. After entering, it should just go back to dialer without having press to call button. Then, check in settings.

Does your operator support wifi calling? In India this method works perfectly
There are Wifi calling functions in the settings, and the operations described in the videos and posts are also followed. There is no wifi call icon, and there is no attempt to call. Is it not supported in the Hong Kong version? Although this function is available, it is invalid.
Wifi calling already enabled on this Android Q, no need to d this..I am already using it
dial *#*#4636#*#* you will easily get WiFi enabled service
Does it really work though? After doing this, it refuses to make a call if you say wifi calling only which makes me think it still needs the mobile carrier to have a signal for calls.
Service is t-mobile fyi.
It is working flawlessly in India on Jio network. I have demonstrated in Video also

It only works in India (maybe some other places?). They don't seem to care about the US.
According to one of the mods on the Zenfone forum:
"When it comes to features like VoWiFi, VoLTE and so on. It's about testing, paying fees and signing contracts."
I don't think they care enough about the US (they don't really push the phone here) to pay the money. Don't hold your breath. Probably need to go custom ROM.
Custom ROMs didn't allow it to work on TMobile either. Glad some can actually use it though.
Volte doesn't work in the USA
Found out the guy lied. So the US unlocked N20U does work with VZW wifi calling.
It definitely does work with my N20U on Verizon.
The only differences between the Unlocked and VZW version are:
1. Native Verizon video calling doesn't work on unlocked, but the integrated Duo video calling is better anyways.
2. Verizon's model doesn't have the Samsung "Smart Call" feature for Caller ID. Instead, it uses Verizon's app.
3. Verizon's version has the Verizon bootscreen and a ton of bloatware, especially games, news apps, and what not. Fortunately, most can be uninstalled, and the rest can be disabled using ADB.

I can confirm all of the above. I have an unlocked phone, on U1 firmware, with a Verizon SIM. Wifi calling works. There is no "Advanced Calling" menu in Connection Settings, but there's a toggle for VoLTE and it was switched on by default. No 4G icon, but rather a LTE+ icon is shown in status bar. The only thing I haven't found a workaround for is the native video calling. I cannot initiate it (phone app does not show the option when I'm on a call with another Verizon phone) and if another Verizon phone attempts to initiate a native video call, it tells them that I cannot accept video calls. I checked my VZW account settings on a PC, and despite the video call option being on and not blocked, native calling doesn't work, as described above. Duo works fine for video. I was able to get Visual Voicemail by installing the app that I go from another thread. I installed it before checking to see if the U1 firmware added it by default, so I can't say for sure that it wasn't there already.

So I had an interesting observation. I flashed my Verizon Note 10+ to U1 firmware and noticed a drastic reduction in data speeds. After getting the Note 20 Ultra, I noticed the data speeds were nearly doubled. I then disabled a ton of Verizon and Samsung apps, and my data speeds dropped drastically as well. Through the process of elimination, I found that the "My Verizon Services" app seems to have a major impact on data speeds. As long as I keep that enabled on the Verizon firmware, data speeds are blazing fast.
Is it possible that Verizon uses apps to prioritize or de-prioritize data speeds? I'd be curious if one could do a side by side of the Unlocked vs Verizon firmware.

Thanks for sharing your observations regarding wifi calling. How can one tell it is working? I am used to older phones advising that wifi calling was in use via text in the phone app. I'm not seeing this notification on my new unlocked T-Mobile-branded N20U with Verizon SIM.
I also noticed the VoLTE toggle in the phone app, switched on and greyed-out, can't be deselected. Of course they don't want to support anything but VoIP anymore. What is the behavior, if the cell signal is decent it won't use wifi? It can't be forced to prefer wifi, can it? I used the trick of putting it in airplane mode, then turn on wifi to try and force it to wifi call. It said it couldn't make the call in airplane mode, which is not encouraging regarding wifi calling being functional on this phone/provider combo.

From what I've found, if you put another carrier's SIM in a truly unlocked carrier branded phone, it should prompt you to apply your carrier settings upon boot. For example when I put a Spectrum SIM in a Verizon phone, it "converted" the CSC (Carrier settings and boot logo) to Spectrum.
My recommendation is to attempt to get the SIM to switch the CSC automatically. If not, use the patched ODIN to flash the Unlocked U1 firmware, and optionally you can flash Verizon from there if Verizon's Video Calling is a must.

Thanks for the detailed response. I was a little concerned about the T-Mobile branding, and what that truly meant at the software level. I installed the Verizon SIM to this factory-reset phone. If it was going to switch CSC I think it would have happened then. It went through the usual setup steps, but still displays T-Mobile screen at boot. I'm not sure what else I would do to "get the SIM to switch the CSC automatically".
Would you agree with my conclusion that wifi calling isn't working based on the outgoing call failure when in airplane mode with wifi on?
If there is better, more-unlocked firmware I'm not opposed to flashing it. It's been a while since I've played with rooting and custom ROMS, but I'm guessing stock firmware is a lower-risk activity on an expensive phone.
I'll refer to this link to try and flash to unlocked U1 firmware, hopefully that will allow wifi calling compatibility:
