Gear S3 Not Compatible? Can't install apps or use Samsung Pay... - Essential Phone Accessories

So I pair my Gear S3 with my PH-1 and got that all going just fine. Pairing another phone always involves resetting the watch so I have to go download a few apps afterwards and I can't! I get an error from the Gear app's store saying "This device does not support Gear."
Everything else has worked fine up to this point.
Also looks like I can't install/use Samsung Pay for it either.
Super lame.

Had this problem on the mi mix and the G6. I'm pretty sure Samsung has to update the app... It got updated pretty quickly for the G6 but never got fixed for the mix... Pretty much a crap shoot on if they will update it or not.

S3 works perfect on my mi mix running resurrection. Got the s3 to connect to my essential but software crashes when I try to install Samsung pay.

Ya, I'm paired and running ok. Getting notifications and all that. Just no additional apps or Samsung Pay.

It didn't used to work on the stock rom on the Mix. Maybe it does now, not sure as I don't have a Mix anymore or a Gear s3..lol

I don't think Samsung knows WTF they're doing. Just chatted with support about this (after being directed to one support site based on my Play Store review that later told me that wasn't the right place to go)...

Love the smartwatch, but the icons are terrible

Hi there! I returned Galaxy Gear and got SM2 instead. So far I'm happy with it, but I just can't stand the icons on my watch. They are really terrible and whole different style than the ones I'm using on my phone. Is there any way to change them? Editing APK? Connecting SmartWatch to PC?

no galaxy s3 support which is ridiculous (if not custom rom, then my phone would still be on 4.1.2 version of android). tried custom rom slimbean 4.3 and galaxy gear just do not pair, do not even show current time until connected through bluetooth. too many troubles with it.

Be no good for me, my fingers would cover half the screen at a time :laugh:
i had some luck with editing the icons! i just backuped up the original APK and replaced some graphic files inside, signed apk and installed again. not all apk work this way though, but the smartwatch looks so much better now.
and yeah, these are ios icons.
if you press on music icon it gives you control over poweramp music player on my s3, and if i press the maps icon it show me current location on the map.

[Q] Missing letters in the S6 system

Hello.
I got the Samsung Galaxy S6 on the 11th of April this year.
But I've been having som problems since then.
When I use the phone some letters isn't showing (see photos). It's everywhere from the clock on the lockscreen, messages app, to games.
I was wondering if anybody knows about this?
Samsung in Denmark says that I'm the only one they heard of who had this problem.
So I was curious.

Might be due to a rogue app. Go to recovery mode and do full reset.

remember to also do a backup if possible. You can use smart switch PC application
Letters missing
I have the exact same problem with mine. After multiple factory resets, waiting for updates, and running it in safe mode I finally sent mine into Samsung support hopefully to get fixed.

I've tried the same things as you mention. And sent it to my carrier for a repair. But all they did was update it and ship it back. No difference.
So after some time now, I've convinced my local Samsung shop to tell my carrier that there is a problem with the "motherboard" of the phone.
And that all of the inside hardware should be changed to some new.
So let's see how it's gonna end.
But please, tell me if you find a solution.

Stop update to Android 12.

Is there a way to stop the auto update to 12? I had to send mine to Nokia to get downgraded back to 11 cause for one thing, it killed the dual SIM capability. Then, i just hate the UI and refuse to pay for apps to fix the look. I have looked everywhere and all the guides say to go to a certain place and disable them, but that doesnt exist in Android ONE i guess. I dont really want to try a custom ROM cause im sure it wont support dual SIM either.
Find the OTA update app and do a adb edit to disable it. Package Disabler has a variant for model other than Samsung, that might work too.
On Samsung's they look like this, ws.dm is the prime offender...

I would not recommend this sites app to anyone. I tried to buy it last night and 24hrs later, I still have no app to download. I found your post from a Google search. Email went unanswered.

Give them a business day or two... jeeesze. Do a charge back on the card if you must. I've been using them for over 3 years, no worries, as I am now.

Question Google assistant is finally available.....and I can't set it up

Uninstall and then reinstall then... I mean that's what I would try doing. Just trying to help. Some people don't appreciate anything anymore.
It works now, I dunno what changed but I just tried again for like the 20th time and it finally worked

Im having the same problem, i tried more that 20 times.
"Couldnt connect to your watch".
Same problem here.
Restarts don't help, reinstalling assistant (watch and phone) doesn't help, and clearing cache for assistant and Google app doesn't help
After i factory reset my watch, the setup went smoothly on the first try.
This worked
I also had to factory reset and it didnt set work on the first attempt

since a few days i own a mi 13 12/512, and want to connect my galaxy watch 5 pro.
Its running on cn software so only english.
But the problem is i cant connect my watch.
i can get connectiong code on watcha nd phone but when it wants to install watch5 managwr there starts the problem.
I managed to install it by third party app store, but after that i get error message

Did you install the Galaxy Wearable? You need this + plugins to connect samsung accessories to none samsung phones (I connect the same way my Buds Pro Samsung to the Xiaomi 13)

What phone are you using, Xiaomi?
Samsung states phones running Android 5.0 or higher with 1.5GB memory or more are compatible.
Samsung has a compatibility list at https://www.samsung.com/ie/support/mobile-devices/what-phones-are-compatible-with-the-galaxy-watch/

like i stated in OP i use a Mi 13... i used it on mi 11 pro also but there it works.
i contacted samsung.. the watch isnt defect so i have to contact xiaomi... as far as they know all devices android 6 and above and 1.5 gb ram should work
does anybody know why there is for google fit no body sensor permission in cn rom, so steps counting isnt working without watch just on phone
