I need help. My Honor 8 is soft bricked. In TWRP I get:
Code:
Failed to mount '/cust' (Invalid Argument)
Failed to mount '/vendor' (Invalid Argument)
Failed to mount '/product' (Invalid Argument)
I was on B385. I've tried flashing the stock firmware through TWRP and also by using the update method of putting it in the dload folder and then starting it by pressing volume up/down & power. All of these fails. I've even tried flashing a few custom roms. Nothing works. Please help!

First make sure that u r on the latest version of TWRP. U can download the latest one from here ( https://goo.gl/QARI5A ) and flash it via fastboot. Once that is done then boot into it and completely wipe ur device clean using advanced wipe. So u'll have to wipe system, data, internal storage, cache and dalvik (DON'T WIPE ANYTHING ELSE). Once u r done with that download the rollback package and the entire firmware package from the Honor US site ( https://goo.gl/q58PdG ).
This will download the the necessary files for ur model FRD-L04.
After that download the Huawei update.app extactor tool from here (https://goo.gl/yuuDL1). Now extract the update.app file of the rollback package and using the tool u've just downloaded extract the recovery.img from it. Now flash the extracted recovery using fastboot. Then place the rollback update.app file in a dload folder in ur MicroSD card and press volume + and the power button to run the update. After it completes remove the MicroSD card from ur device, extract the update.app file from the large firmware package and place it in the same dload folder replacing the rollback package on ur MicroSD card. Then put the card back into the phone and run the update again using volume + and the power button. This should install the operating system on ur device. Once it is done the phone will restart into the OS. U will now have an early build of marshmallow. When u update the phone to Nougat the bootloader will lock and if u want to FRP lock for protection from theft then go to developer options and remove allow OEM unlocking.

I was able to follow your steps and flash the large firmware package update.app, but the device would power up to the Honor screen and never fully boot. I tried to restart and re-flash the recovery from the rollback and then flash the rollback update.app but it would fail. I also tried to flash the large firmware package update.app but it also failed. I tried this both on the rollback recovery and on the large firmware package recovery. Not sure what to do.

Ok it's fine. Just try this one last time. Flash the stock recovery from the rollback package on to ur phone. Then using ur MicroSD flash the update.app of the rollback package. After this ur phone will NOT boot. Then using the update.app of the full firmware and ur microSD card update it again. Wiping system tand data hrough TWRP was a way to start from scratch and to make ur phone a clean slate.
Just try this again. Hopefully u r lucky.

There isn't a boot.img in the thread there. Where do I find it?
So I thought to try myself something... I flashed the oldest boot.img from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-8/orig-development/kernel-insecure-boot-img-t3311306 (B156 FLASHABLE IMG). The only difference now is that it remains stuck at the warning scrren. Previously that screen would dissapear and the phone would be total black.
Also I downloaded the update.app from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-8/general/nxt-l09-nxt-l29-stock-rom-b133-download-t3311839 of L29. Extracted boot, cache, cust, system, recovery, userdata from that package and flashed all files with fastboot. Everything successful but still stucked at warning screen.

hmmm....try and go to recovery and format the data partition, maybe that helps.... just make sure u dont have any important data on the phone before u do that

TWRP - wipe - advanced wipe - tick data and slide to start?

Which rom were you try to flashing which caused this issue?
Hi please could i get same help.
I have unlock bootloader, install twrp and the modaco rom " r7-modacocustomrom-honor-8-frdl09-frd-b101 "
I want to revert to stock rom, I have downloaded Honor 8 stock ROM image (latest: B101) FRD-L09 , extract to sd card.
Shutdown the phone, disconnect usb cable, hold volume + and - and power.
Here is the problem it does not install the rom it boots on twrp.
Please could I get same advise?
Thanks
Steps are below, follow them.
Download your phone's latest firmware and extract system.img, boot.img, recovery.img, cust.img from UPDATE.APP using Huawei Update Extractor tool.
Boot into bootloader mode by switching off the phone then pressing only the Vol DOWN button, and connecting it to PC simultaneously.
Flash recovery first, using this command.
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Flash all other extracted files similarly firing these commands.
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash cust cust.img
fastboot flash system system.img
After doing this put that very UPDATE.APP from which you extracted the files in dload folder of your external SDCARD.
Switch off your phone, and press Vol UP + Vol DOWN + Power button simultaneously.
Your device will now get to the full stock firmware.
NOTE: If the manual flashing doesn't works or you get any errors, then first try only the force update method, i.e Putting the UPDATE.APP from which you extracted the files in dload folder of your external SDCARD and pressing Vol UP + Vol DOWN + Power button simultaneously after switching off your phone.

It works as I've already tested it. The stock system image on my device has a size of 2.5 GB. After flashing developer version, there was 1 GB free so I shrunk the system partition to 1.5 GB. When I restored back to the official stock releases, the system partition was restored back to 2.5 GB.

Hi Digigoon, many thanks for your instructions!
I followed them and I've been also been able to go back to Stock ROM using the last FRD-L09C432B131 ROM Update.
But now I lost my unlocked bootloader, my previously installed TWRP Recovery and my SUPERSU Root.
The problem is that I can't unlock it anymore when trying to start again the whole Unlock Bootloader+TWRP+ROOT process.
I always get the same error "FAILED (remote: password wrong)" after executing "fastboot oem unlock XXXXXXXX" (Where XXXXXXXX is my unlock code)
I always get this same error using my previously working unlock Code I got via the "DC Unlocker" procedure that worked for me one month ago the first time I unlocked my device and also when using a new Unlock code I just got following the Huawei Official EMUI Website Unlock Bootloader process.
I wanted to use again the stock ROM and install the official updates but the idea was to continue being Unlocked and with TWRP+ROOT.
Can anybody help me? Does anybody know why I can't unlock again and what could I try to re-unlock my Honor 8 FRD-L09?
Any help would be highly appreciated.
I found it myself. Now it works. Incredible! The "official Huawei Unlock bootloader" method fails to me giving me a non-working Unlock code. The "DC Unlocker" method works perfectly and it failed to me because for some unknown reason there was a FXXXXXX typo in the pasted coded I had saved. A FXXXXXX typo when I copied/Pasted it! I had to pay again 4€ *to get a fully working code equal to the one I already had but without the typo!. Well I am done for now.

Hi I just bought my honor 8, i unlocked my bootloader, then tried flashing twrp, it said it worked, but it just went to EMUI recovery. I must of flashed the wrong one, it was the american one from twrp.me. I am on emui 5.0. So then i went to developer option and accidently clicked revert to default settings, which turned off my oem unlock. so this turned FRP lock back on. I had the bootloader still unlocked so i tried flashing surdas twrp this time, and it failed. so i rebooted my phone and it went to the recovry and said it got seriously data corrupt or something and said to repair so i did, then i rebooted and it went to setup. but now it wont let me get through the setup because i cant type.. it just brings up google voice typing. So somethings messed up.
Model is FRD-L14
Emui 5.0
the bootloader is currently locked.
FRP lock is on.
I can get to fastboot, recovery and it boots up to setup.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! I don;t know how i can fix this.
Is there any way i can flash stock rom and recovery in like download mode or something?
I have simlar issue to this https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-8/help/help-keyboard-google-voice-t3629372

I dont understand how I downgrade. I have a locked bootloader and no custom recovery.
Use a sdcard and create a directory "dload". In this directory first place the rollback UPDATE.APP. Use the 3-button combo to enter dload mode. Then once done change that UPDATE.APP with the B130 (EMUI 4.1) UPDATE.APP of your device. Again enter dload mode and you should have successfully downgraded.
You can now upgrade from software updater to EMUI 5.0.

Download the rollback from above and after extraction copy the UPDATE.APP file into the dload folder. Once done replace this with the B120/B130 UPDATE.APP.
You don't need to extract the UPDATE.APP but extract the update.zip which would give you the UPDATE.APP to be copied into the dload folder.

Thanks alot man :].
once i do all of this, and then after i update my emui to 5.0. How exactly do I properly install twrp? lol.
I figured out how to unlock my bootloader, but i don't know how to install the proper twrp version without bricking my device. Then i'd be installing a lineage os rom after i have twrp, which i know how to do from using my galaxy s4 .

Once you are on emui 5.0, make sure you enable developer options and keep the oem unlock option ON. Then enable usb debugging and reboot to fastboot using your PC and typing "adb reboot fastboot".
Once in fast boot mode, first unlock your boot loader using "fastboot oem unlock CODE". This will prompt for a factory reset and once done repeat the above in developer options and enter fast boot mode again. You can simply type "fastboot flash recovery /path/to/recovery.img" where the recovery.img is the one you download from https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-8/development/twrp-t3566563
Voila you have successfully flashed twrp and now can flash whichever rom you want.

I've come into a problem. I've installed twrp and everything, but now im trying to flash a lineageos rom. when i try to wipe and format the data it says it failed: failed to mount /data device or resource busy unable to mount storage.
I went into mount and i have cache, vendor, and micro sdcard selected. also "mount system partition read-only" selected aswell. my storage selected says 0 MB.
Any idea what to do?

Make sure you turn off FRP lock.
If you have FRP locked it is because you didn't enable OEM Unlock in EMUI 4.1

I fixed the issue. FRP was already unlocked. But I just advance wiped the data on those and it fixed the issue. Thanks man. Do you know what the most stable 7.1.2 ROM is? Cause I just used the lineageos 14.1 one and it randomly reboots on me when I have music playing, actually its just random in general.

I have come into a bit of a problem. I turned off or unlocking in developer options, then I rebooted my phone and it just bootlooped. So I did the thing you told me to do before with the roll back and the 4.1 emui. That all went fine, but after it finished installing 4.1 and restarted it's in bootloops still :/
hi i just got a honor 6x and i have been following guides and at one point i had lineage os 13 on the phone but it would only boot to the password screen
so then i side loaded resurrection os 5.7 and it didnt have wifi so i tried upgrading emui and now i can't install any rom it just hangs at "patching ssytem unconditonally"
i have TWRP running on the phone. i just want to go back to stock OS. please help how do i do this?
unknown command [errno] update_huawei_pkg_from_ota_zip from zip failed
when i try to flash the stock huawei rom
i can run fastboot and twrp but nothing else works. i will paypal 15 dollars to someone who can help me
You can download the full firmware directly from honor, unzip it, and place the update.app file in a dload folder that you create on your sd card. Power of the phone then hold volume up, down, and power at the same time to initiate an automatic flash of the room you downloaded. This will erase everything, so be aware.
1.Download full rom from huawei support site then extract update.app
2.place it in dload folder using twrp (in twrp enable MTP)
3.Now extract the recovery.img from update.app using huawei extractor and flash it using fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
4.now power off phone then start phone holding Volume Up ,Volume Down & power button simultaneously
5.it will start updating

I had the same problem once.
You can try to flash the cust partition of your phone. The "device verification failed"-message should disappear then. It's not enough to only flash boot, system and recovery. If there is a problem with the cust partition of your phone you can also have problems with flashing stock roms via "dload"-method.
1. Download the right stock firmware via the huawei firmware finder. You usually have two .zip files (e.g. update.zip & update_full_BLN-L21_hw_eu.zip). The image file for the cust partition can be found in the update_full_BLN-L21_hw_eu.zip (choose the right one for your model).
2. Unpack update_full_BLN-L21_hw_eu.zip and extract the cust partition with the huawei firmware extractor.
3. Put your phone into fastboot mode
4. Use the following command: fastboot flash cust cust.img
5. Try to boot into your stock rom.
Hi! This is my first post and going to be a long one! But kindly excuse me! I need HELP!
I have Semi bricked my Honor 6x firmware (bln-l22, android 6.0, emui 4.1, c675b132, india channel) while trying to manually update it to Nougat which I downloaded from "stechguide.com/honor-6x- b360-nougat-update". I downloaded the Asian version. I accidentally extracted and flashed update_data_full_BLN-L22_hw_spcseas.zip instead of the update.zip first. The update_data_full_BLN-L22_hw_spcseas.zip file got to 100% installed and then went to Huawei eRecovery. Then I couldn't flash the update.zip. I get a software install failed. Also tried to manually flash to stock Rom and other newer update versions of Nougat on SD card again but I get software install failed or Incompatible for this phone. I tried to factory hard reset but this also fails. I can wipe only the cache and reboot which goes again to eRecovery. The eRecovery on wifi does not work either. I looked up booting to safe mode but nothing happens.
After reading a lot on this forum, I tried minimal adb and fastboot. My device in fastboot & rescue mode shows up on minimal adb and fastboot when I type "fastboot devices" command (but adb devices gives no devices/emulator found). It also shows up as Android Phone (Android sooner Single ADB Interface) in Device manager on PC and android drivers is upto date. The Huawei suite loads up but can't connect to it (can't enable hdb).
My phone is boot locked, FRP locked, not rooted (and impossible to enable usb debug) so I can't flash any commands like recovery.img, system.img or twrp and cwm recovery. I always get the remote command not allowed.
Right now, On starting my device, Honor logo shows up, vibrates and goes dark twice then to eRecovery.
All the other combination functions of Power, Vol - and Vol + works.
Please help me restore my Honor 6x to stock or update to Nougat! Thanks a ton!
extract update.zip. Get the UPDATE.APP.
create a "dload" directory to your sdcard. copy UPDATE.APP in this folder
shutdown phone / unplug phone.
hold on VOL + + VOL - + POWER
UPDATE.APP will install. Then shutdown phone. remove UPDATE.APP from dload directory. Extract UPDATE.APP from second zip (smallest one: update_data_full_BLN-L22_hw_spcseas.zip)
copy this new UPDATE.APP into dload folder on sdcard.
Shutdown phone / unplug
hold on VOL + + VOL - + POWER
When install complete, try to boot, if not boot, recovery into recovery and wipe cache / data

Heya! Thanks for the reply.
Can you be more specific about Which ROM to use? The stock ROM or the Newer Nougat Firmware for my phone model?
I have tried the following:
Honor 6X B132 Stock ROM and Honor 6X B320, 330, 360. Yet to try B320, 340 & 342 Firmwares.
I don't remember which one says incompatible, wrong update package or software update failed after 6% installation but bottom line is they all fail to install. I can't do a Hard reset and only wipe cache. I do wipe cache before flashing with SD card dload method but still unsuccesful.:fingers-crossed:

Unless you are unhappy with your phone performance, I'd recommend not to rollback provided our rollback package is even available to perform that!

Can you kindly send me the firmware download links?
Edit:
I dug deeper into this B360 nougat update and I now know for sure I've tried to flash a wrong update for my Phone wrongly.
The B360 for – [Asian variant] Honor 6X is BLN-L22C636Bxxx which is different from the Indian build – [Indian variant] Honor 6X BLN-L22C675Bxxx.
Am I missing something here?
