Hello this is VisualTech48, and today im bringing you some great news!
Like i mentioned in the HTC 8S general (Here)
The upcoming Windows Phone 8 (GDR2) update is comming to
both the HTC 8X and 8S. We have been waiting for this for a couple of months, and its finaly coming out this month!
The new WP8 GDR2 update will bring many new features to our phone. I'm exicted, are you?

received 8x update
Just receiving the update. Installing now.
edit1: That is taking some time - had to wait for more then 15 minutes before preparing update was finished. Progress bar was behaving very strange jumped from 97 to 95 and from 100 to 99 and then back to 100. So be patient.
I had to wait several minutes before the screen to confirm the update appeared. After confirming the update the Phone restarts performing the update.
After 10 minutes the start screen appeared without the "quitly brillant" text.
After that I got the blue windows Phone screen. Then the data was migrated which took at least 10 minutes.
Phone updated to 8.0.10327.77
edit2 : Radio is included in xbox music
edit3: some bugs in new software - in settings finding my Phone is always off even if it is activated
htc connection setup isn't working anymore. (sim not found error)
edit4 : seems the bugs are gone. Updated diferent apps and now everything seems to be working ok. Don't know how but it must be related to the updates of some apps and I've also performed a hard reset several times.

Also I am getting the update today!
At settings the only new menu is the additional call settings that its empty.

Hi,
I have my business lotus traveler email from before inside my device.
On the menu to add more email accounts there is nothing about traveler it self to setup.

Got the update in France (unbranded phone). FM radio is there, Data Sense is not (no surprise).

No Data Sense also for Greece.
Maybe is not yet active with that update.

I picked up a Windows Phone 8XT bt HTC from Sprint yesterday, and they device appears to come preinstalled with GDR2! :victory:

I think the update came to early for our Phone. I have issues also on my handset. (settings - find my Phone, htc connection setup and other apps, lost data connection - had to reset Phone to get it back)

I'm not crossing my fingers on T-Mobile rolling this out to US users any time soon

ok, after the update to GDR2, The phone did three updates and guess what, the radio appeared!

This build is very smooth, no lag with the multitasking and accessing to Google lateral page.

Btw, I have a question about OTA update. When I go to the update page, it always shows last check for update a couple of hours ago. However, when I manually click to check for update. The August update appears available for download. This is not the first time. I observe this behavior from the first update (few months ago). Therefore, it happens all the time to me. Does the 'silent' check for update work for anyone of you? Also, is there a way to set the frequency to check for update? Like, once a day, once a week, manually, etc.

The UI general lag has been fixed. Switching between apps and opening animation is smooth now.

Me too. Phone feels a lot smoother after this patch! Is that normal for security patches or is that just me? Double tapping the app switcher button to go to the last app feels a lot more fluid than before.

Just double click on the power button to choose the default camera. If not, clear the camera apps, then double click on the power button to choose de default camera.

This is what support told me tonight. What the hell have you guys installed!!!!!!
HMD seem pretty confused about updates. I tried Pie beta ota, rolled back ota and now dont get the updates. I upgraded from the 6.1 hoping that this one was better. It's not the phone, its HMD!!!!!!!

My phone is blazing fast now... I don't know what they have done but the diference is intense.

The August security patch was rolled out probably 3 days back. Don't rely on those Nokia guys. They do not know anything. Every time I get in touch with them with any question or issue, they always play the same tune "Please visit the service centre".
Talking about OTA update after rolling back from Android pie beta, we all had this issue. You need to wait for a few hours and then check for the update. For me, it took around 3 and a half hours to get the August ota update after rolling back.

A new update is available for the Honor View 20 as software version 9.0.1.129 (C675E8R1P4), which is based on Magic UI 2.0.1. According to the changelog, the update not only installs a new January 2019 security patch, but also adds support for ViLTE calling (Video over LTE) , which was one of the most requested feature for honor devices in the past. This also makes a point that, very soon this feature will be provided to other honor devices in the market.
The update also improves camera performance by enhancing filming smoothness and natural appearance of colors when using the rear camera in Portrait Mode. There are also some improvements to the touchscreen sensitivity and plenty of bug fixes and optimizations.

I'm not sure if it is included or not, but I did confirm with Honor UK, via Twitter, that Wi-Fi calling is scheduled to be included/integrated as it is not an option on the current 9.0.1.125 version. They have yet to confirm when exactly it will be released - crossing fingers!
Agreed with the previous post as well. The gestures for custom launchers is horrible. I have three Pixel launcher enable and have the 3 navigation buttons enabled because it was do bad.

Wait, I see the model number in the heading of this now. Are you on the PLT-AL10, which I'm assuming is the Chinese Version, or are you on the PCT-L29 or the UK Version? I'm on PCT-L29 and Wi-Fi calling does not exist, but VoLTE does and that doesn't appear as an option in yours
Correction - it appears PCT-AL10 is the model for India.

Hi nope, i'm currently running a version from december security patch, thats when i rooted my CN blackshark and i haven't unrooted and updated it since, I'm waiting for android P to do that.

Try typing *#*#1027#*#* and choosing the "test server" option..then delete ota data. Then check to see if the update shows up. It didn't show up for mine

i already have an update prompt since march, i never did it so its still showing. i have a friend with a CN black shark that haven't rooted, i'm waiting untill he gets the update prompt and then i'll reflash the stock images and update.

Awesome! That would be great. If you can upload the stock images after updating that would help a lot! Even the most up to date version that's currently out right now would be a great help!

Setting my custom.img to yours (build 3040) seems to get me the latest (4020) update on slot b after doing a Software Update. It could be my custom_a.img that I've uploaded is old.

So My friend got the android pie, he sais its not too exciting, i think ill stick to my current rom i have no issues with it, and i dont wonna wipe data rn.

Verification and Troubleshooting
Version Check
When the phone is powered on, go to Settings >System> About phone > Build number, make sure the build version number is the same with the release version.
Basic Function Check
Power on the phone, enter the standby screen, and dial a phone number to make a phone call. Press and hold the End button to power off the phone. Check that these functions are normal.
Go over all the APK files and make sure that all of them function properly.
Upgrade Issue Troubleshooting
For an upgrade that follows the procedure and does not violate the precautions but failed, contact your local maintenance center. For details about maintenance centers, call the local Huawei service hotline. For information of the hotline numbers, visit the hihonor website
NOTE:
The wait is finally over, as the update is now out. Considering the usual case of staged roll-out, Magic UI 2.1 update may take time to reach every HONOR View20 units.Some users are already seeing the update on their smartphones, So hang in tight as you may get to see the notification anytime soon!
Have you got your Magic UI 2.1 update?

UK user here, I manually updated my PCT-L29 C432 to 9.1.0.229 via HSTool and so far my experience with Magic UI 2.1 has been really good. Here are a few notes:
- UI responsiveness is improved, animations are smoother with no more stuttering observed.
- App loading speeds seem faster, everything is almost instant. Although the phone was already fast to begin with, now it feels like I never have to wait for anything when launching apps.
- Swipe gestures feel more accurate, I don't need to reattempt any gestures like opening the app switcher or side-swiping to go back.
- Mis-touches are reduced, in the past if I wiped my screen with a cloth it would pick it up as a touch gesture. This now happens less often.
- Desktop Mode connection is much more stable. Previously even if I connected my phone using an HDMI cable it would frequently flicker and the signal would eventually cut out. This seems to have been fixed.
- Folders now display 3 X 4 icons instead of 3 X 3, which makes apps much more accessible.
- No incompatibilities observed with previous apps (yet).
- Battery life is slightly improved.
And a few other things to be aware of:
- App suggestions are now permanently displayed at the top of the App Drawer, and the option to hide them is no longer available.
- The standalone Flashlight app is gone (it was redundant anyway).
- Breaks compatibility with some previous third-party themes, in particular "Dark Mode" themes.
- I haven't received the AR Measurement app, although it was supposed to be included in 2.1? ?

App suggestions that cannot be removed: very very very annoying.
On the other hand, I use the "standard" home screen style without a drawer so I don't care.

Also, I'm not seeing the option for "Dual-View Video" anywhere.

Yes my phone downloaded it a few days ago... It's the 8G/256G version...
By the way, contrary to what the first post says, I still have the Torch app with its own icon.

Mine is the 6GB/128GB version.
As of this morning, mine still hasnt updated.

Nope still no update for the v20 Indian Users. If you check the honor club app it says that we should be receiving it on the 24th of July. But to be honest it will be by the end of July or probably first week of August. Coming from oneplus phones I am really dissappointed with Honor for such slow updates.

Do you know what specific build number it is? This should be the three digits after "9.1.0".

It's 9.1.0.201 for me.

Updated last night 2.1.201, without measureing app.

Got mine today. Very nice. So far noticed improved performance. Not that it was slow in any way, to begin with! Seems quicker with the animations. And the navigation gestures also seem smoother. I like it.

Got mine, first it was 9.1.0.200, and now 9.1.0.230, both 4.3GB, through OTA.

Nothing yet via HiSuite or OTA in the UK but not due for EU until tomorrow. Hopefully it'll go live ASAP after that.
