Bluetooth tethering problem? - Google Pixel Questions & Answers

I'm getting an error while trying to Bluetooth tether to my Nexus 7. I turn on Bluetooth tether and it tells me "service is not connected, please contact your carrier." My pixel is running 8.0. But I had this problem on 7.1 as well. I contact my carrier and they said that everything is good on their end. It's the phone. I was able to tether on my Galaxy s6. Any suggestions?

[Q] Sprint Nexus S 4G tethering

I am having problems with applications on the phone not being able to communicate when wireless tethering is turned on. Examples are Google Talk and Touchdown both quit working when I enable the wireless hotspot. I have a wireless Xoom and use the hotspot for it to connect. Other applications on the nexus seem to work like the browser and the market. Google talk comes up with 'Network currently unavailable. Will connect automatically when available.' As soon as I disable the hotspot it connects. Anybody else having problems with wireless tether?
Yes, I've noticed when I'm connected to 4g and turn on Wireless hotspot or USB tethering my 4g icon turns grey and I am no longer connected to 4g. I've repeatedly checked to in different locations around my city, and at different times of the day. Same behavior. Something tells me its not coincidence.

Sprint + N5 Stock WiFi Tether

Anyone get this to work?
I set up the SSID and password on the N5. Connected to it fine with another device. But get no web access.
I've not heard of any reports of this working on Sprint, even with WiFi Tether for rooted devices.
Edit: I got it working: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=47237689

Bluetooth Tethering

I have the unlocked Play Store Pixel (on Sprint), and when I activate the Bluetooth, it refuses to connect to my trusty Nexus 5. I can't even get it to accept a connection to the 5. They'll pair, and then refuse to connect at all. The box for "share internet connection" won't stay 'checked' on it either.
Anyone else try and Bluetooth pair a Nexus 5 with a Pixel? Anyone else encounter this issue besides me?

Help with Samsung galaxy j7 sky pro hotspot

I bought a straight talk Samsung galaxy j7 sky pro and can't find the hotspot if it even has one. So I installed a hotspot from the Google play store and it says I have to root before it can be used with this phone. Can someone please tell me what that is and how to fo it? I tried looking it up on Google but I couldn't make heads or tails of it.
This works
I have this phone for straight talk and i use PDAnet for android. If you have a laptop with hotspot capabilities, you can use PDAnet on there for a USB tether. The other alternative that might work for you ( did not work for me due to some dumb error) is FoxFi. FoxFi is compatible with PDAnet too. You can use a Bluetooth connection too for some devices.
Hope it works!
What does it matter what "hotspot" capabilities you have on any other device other than a standard wifi connection? And pdanet is used on the pc or other device? What exactly turns wifi hotspot feature on on this phone according to your solution?
So I was able to connect my windows laptop to the network but not my other android phone. I have PdaNet installed on it too. So if anyone has any tips on how to get android to Android to work with this phone pls advise. I'm using the j7 Sky Pro for straight talk

I also have a J7 sky pro and have noticed when trying to connect to a pdanet hot spot (using wifi direct hotspot on another device and connecting to it with the J7) that some devices have communication issues that are hit or miss. My wife has the galaxy note 9. When hers is used as the wifi direct hot spot it will connect to the network using WPS but pdanet bugs out or something. After wps process finishes it says "WPS complete, Waiting for wifi connection. It remains stalled out there. However I did manage to get it to sucessfully connect to it ONCE (1 out of about 400 attempts) I did manage to get it to connect outside of pdanet for internet connection by using the wifi connection settings and connecting to the network there but also hit the advanced options and then set the proxy to manual then used 192.168.49.1 as the proxy address & port 8000. that allowed me to gain internet with the j7. As i said though it so far has just been with the Note 9. A friend with an S9 set his up and I could connect to it just fine. So I don't know if it is pdanet actually nerking out and having issues or if it is the communication between the devices. If you are trying to use your J7 as the hotspot set it up as wifi direct instead of the foxfi hotspot then use connect to pdanet hotspot from the other device to connect to the the J7

Bluetooth Tethering Issue

Hi,
I have recently (last week) joined the OnePlus party by getting myself the 7 Pro after being with Samsung since the S2 days.
I like the phone but there are a few issues I am having.
The main issue I am having is the Bluetooth Tethering. I need this for when I am in my car (Mercedes use this method for internet connectivity). I switch it on and try to connect but after a while it just tells me that the data connection is temporarily unavailable. My mobile data works fine so I'm assuming that isn't the issue. When I am parked on my drive and in range of my home WiFi and I try and connect the connection is successful. It is as if the phone is blocking the mobile data connection when accessing via bluetooth tethering. This wasn't an issue on my Note 9 using the same SIM.
Does anybody have a fix for this or are having similar issues? If this cannot work then it is a deal breaker for me and I'll be reluctantly returning the phone to Amazon.
On a side note I have even tried changing the dun status via ADB Shell after finding what was supposed fix online but it did not help.
Thanks
I am no Bluetooth expert, and it may not apply here, but there are a number of various Bluetooth settings that can be altered in the Developers setting. Maybe something there can help???
Hi Jaseman,
I shall look into that. Currently doing a full backup of the phone to my PC before doing a downgrade from Android 10 to 9. I'm hearing that 10 is buggy so I'm hoping that is the culprit.
Thank you for your reply.
