Hi all,
i've checked my S7 Flat using the "secret" *#0*# menu, but Grip Sensor is always in "release" state, also after full restore using Smart Switch.
Any idea why?
Thanks,
The Rat
Mine worked with quite a hard grip but then decided to turn on without gripping it and locked me into that test menu with the phone vibrating constantly, had to reboot the phone
Tried the same test on a friend's S7 edge and the sensor works perfectly.
Had the phone over a year and didn't even know it had a grip sensor until today lol
Just tested mine (S7). Works, but it's too sensitive. What's the use for this sensor?

Where did you see the status for it?
I can't find anything about the grip sensor on the HWModuleTest
Have you tried this?

It's exactly what i'm talking about: check "grip sensor" and it's always in RELEASE status.
The sensor on my phone is triggered when the bottom part of the aluminum frame(between the bottom antenna lines) is touched or has an object very close to it. Mine is a 930FD. Hope this helps

Unfortunately mine not. I have tried a lot of times, also after a full reset.

when your phone is idle (screen is black) swipe you screen without touching it. shows you time, battery, calls, and messages. just a little thing i noticed
I'm stupid... Cant make it work
Sent via Tapatalk
make sure that you hover swiping the camera. you can tell it worked because the notification light will be blue. also check settings. it may be an air gesture
I finally got it to work It's in the air gesture settings.

You don't have to swipe - just reach towards the phone.
Also, it doesn't seem to work when docked/charging (still playing with that part).
Do these air gestures drain battery??
Also, I realized this particular function ONLY works if the device is sitting flat on the table. Man, Samsung really thought a lot of these features through lol.

Weird, but ok. It would be convenient to leave the screen off on the dock (since you can't STOP IT from turning off the screen after a while) and reach out for this...
Aha! It is an air gesture! I got it on... Now to get it to work...

Maybe it doesn't work for very vertical docks?
Wow... Got it! Cool feature... Keep wondering when ima stop learning new things about this phone...
Thanks for the tip

Wow, thought I wouldn't use any off these new features on the S4 but I find myself using them more & more and actually liking them
I have had the nexus 5 for about 6 months now, and i'm starting to notice a part of the glass coming off. The area around the volume buttons to the center of the screen makes a sticking sound when pushed down on, and i can feel it pushing in a little bit. It's most noticeable on the edge directly next to the volume buttons. There are no visible cracks as far as i can tell. Phone works fine besides this. Should I be worried and replace the screen or just let it be? I don't notice it if i don't push down too hard.
Never had this happen to me on a phone before. Thanks!
That definitely shouldn't be happening.

It's not very visible and pictures don't show the problem.
It feels like the glue in that area is just dried up in that area and isn't holding down the screen correctly. but its only a small area so right now its not too big of a deal.

Ask for google support, they will replace it. Mine was losing the back cover letters and google replaced it
Hi all. Wasn't sure if I should reply to this old thread or start my own...
I have a Nexus 5 that's over 2 years old. So no warranty. It looks like my screen is starting to come off in the bottom right corner. I think it's just the glass. Take a look at the attached pic/video and let me know what you think I could/should do. You can see I can move it by pressing on it.

It works fine otherwise. Touch/display etc seems all fine. I don't care about this problem if it stays as-is, but I'm worried it will get worse and come off further.
I'm thinking a bit of super glue would do? .

Cases can do this, and rear screen protectors that cover the flash can too.

Why "of course"?
Post some example pics, perhaps it'll be clearer then.
Yeah mine did the same on the weekend, I wasn't sure initially if it was the flash or a bright light off to the right of my shot, so I turned the flash off and the issue went away confirming it was from the flash. What is happening here is that the ISO sensitivity is was too high with the flash.
The best way to combat this issue, is to set the camera settings to manual, and keep the ISO as low as possible to get the shot

Here are some extreme examples, the first with flash ISO800 the second with no flash ISO3200.
Those having bleeding problems l, it coupd be to do with light bleeding under the back panel, I smashed mine and got a replacement and it happened to me. The back panel was not secure so I reapplied it and now it has gone.
Just out of interest try putting a bit of pressure around the lens when you take a shot and see if the problem is still there.

The same happened to me now, got the bleeding after it was repaired in a store.
How did you make sure, the lens is secure? Just by pressure or did you heat it or added extra glue or something? :silly:

Not so "Smart". It's just a cutout so that you can see the clock in the lockscreen and maybe the phone number when someone calls you, but only that. I have one, and the only thing I don't like are the cutouts for the buttons, they are not well placed. I prefer having a silicon flip cover instead of this one
So I found an alternative with cutout

Well, that looks quite better, but still hard plastic case, the buttons in the right side are hard to press, just like in the Nillkin XD
If there would be something like this, but with a cover over it... LOL

maybe there as app for that that could concentrate important concent into the small window. but anyways, windowed cases are utterly pointless on non-AMOLED screens

Absolutely correct. In the M2, all the LCD goes ON, not like in AMOLED, where 0 equals fully off pixel. However, just to check what time is it, or who is calling you is nice, and the screen is protected..

Hey guys,
I finally (kappa) managed it, to broke my front camera motor
I think, it got broke while the last time my phone dropped..
The camera itself still works (Surrounding light is shining through) but the motor, for pushing the camera up and down, is dead.
I can't hear any sound, nor any sidelights of it. The notification LED still works too btw.
Do anyone else expected this failure too and maybe know a fix for it? I already tried to "pick it up" a bit with a sharf cutter and trigger the mechanism with the camera app and front camera sidelight settings, but vainly it didn't work..

The engine seems strong.
The connection between the engine and the camera more likely or solder or printed circuit.
You'd have to open it to see.

Thanks for the information! But heating up the display and re-glueing it by myself could end up in a disaster ..
I think, I will first try to contact my seller (or xiaomi) and ask for repair service.
