Constant refreshing - Samsung Galaxy S8+ Questions & Answers

So I am on my 2nd S8 plus (first one was swapped because of dead pixel). The issue I seem to keep having is that apps auto refresh constantly. Not all apps but most do.
Let me explain. I'll be in chrome reading an article then all of a sudden it refreshed and reloads the page sending it to the top.
I'll be in the IGN app and same thing only it will kick me back to the home screen.
On Facebook, I'll be 6,7 post down then back to the top.
The weirdest one is YouTube. I'll be watching a video then the image will go black for 2-3 seconds then re scale the video from regular to full screen to regular. The video will NOT restart and the audio will stay the same, it's just the image will go black. But if there is a logo on the bottom right hand side of the video, that never disappears.
I have restarted the device, reset to factory, wiped cahce and still keeps happening.
And it's randomly, some times I won't have an issue, other times I will. Can't figure out what it is. Anyone else have this issue?
Could it be my SD card? Currently no apps on SD but on my last phone apps where on SD.
Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk

I've been having the same same issue also. No clue what's causing it?
Sent from my SM-G955U1 using Tapatalk

Might be SD card. Ordered a new one to see if that solves it. I took the SD card out for 30 minutes and didn't notice any issues. But need to test longer.
Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk

I don't think it the sdcard, but what do I know lol. Gonna run a few days without also to see if that fixes it.
Sent from my SM-G955U1 using Tapatalk

Sounds like the horrible memory management on the S8+ is giving your grief. Unfortunately, if that is the cause, there is no fix for it.

I'm almost sure that is the phone . Just got my replacement today and so far no app has closed or reloaded while using them. Think my device was a dud

I'm on my 2nd one too and still having the issue. But I'd don't start right away. Maybe a week or 2 after I got the new phone. I also did a clean install and didn't restore anything. That's why I think it could be the memory card.
Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk

I guess I spoke too soon started again this morning. Gonna order a new sdcard and test
Sent from my SM-G955U1 using Tapatalk

Still waiting on my SD card. What I plan to finish format the card with the phone. I popped an old SD card in and it still does it but not as often.
Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk

My S8+ does it and I do not have an SD card at all.

I seem to fix my problem refresh problem with lspeed. No reloaded for about 2 weeks now

Are you rooted because that app only seems to work on root?

I just stated having the smame issue since Jan 2 2018 with my LG G6. Last system update was Dec 9 and most recent app was Whatsapp. I did move a bunch of photos to my SD card in albums recently. Ill take it out and see what happens.

S/W Upgrade!

Well maybe it is here?!!!
Woke up this am and my phone battery was dead. Connected it to the charger last night but didn't realize the charger was unplugged. So I connected it to my laptop via USB and went about the morning activities.
I just looked over and on the screen it says
S/W Upgrade
Please wait
While upgrading...
Been that way for 10 minutes. I'll keep you posted.
Seriously? WTF. Hmm, I wonder if it could look like anything in this guys post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1166507
Notice he changed it to false alarm and request that it be deleted. OTA updates don't automagically start, you get informed and a choice how to download them.
yeah you may wanna take this down asap
Yeah, unless you get prompted to update while your phone is on, I doubt its legit.

That was the only thing curious to me was that I hit the power button to make sure it was charging and it was. I never turned it on though. Looked over again when I heard the USB connect sound from my laptop and saw the message. Still on the screen at this point.
Not sure.....
Such thread should be locked down ASAP because it's just another "cry wolf"!
Pull your battery or it will stay on this screen. You fat fingered some buttons is all that happened.

No offense OP, but we have been down this road many times already.
I called T-Mobile. No such Upgrade / Update at this time for LG G2x.
Pull battery, reset phone, wait for the real update to arrive.
Again. Can't belive it!!!

I'm a fan of calling the of T-Mobile since obviously people are wrong when they tell you there is no update. As if one of these threads doesn't actually pop up once a week...
Happened to me once to. I turned on the phone and got the software upgrade screen. Left in on all night, finally reset (it still had the screen), low and behold, no update.
Not sure why the screen came up.
so when you went to start this thread and typed s/w upgrade into the thread title box and you got the little search window that opens up and warns you not to post a new thread without checking those out first you did what exactly?
Mr clown murder this thread.!!!

It most likely is caused from a bad Sim card. Try putting in a different Sim card and see if the error still pop up. If no error then you know what the issue is.
If the issue still persist then the next step would be getting it replaced because more than likely it's a bad Sim tray.

No one in your household has a Sim card you can use? Does the error happen quite often or does it pop up once in a blue? What you can also try is removing the Sim and then inserting it back in. Maybe the Sim tray isn't flush.

beware...they charge $10 for a sim card. I would just ask a friend that has a GSM carrier first.

They did in the two stores I went to. (One on vacation in NY and one in CA) Unless you buy a new phone from them, they seem to want to charge you for it. Yeah you could just cut a regular one. Be careful though, you don't want to get it stuck in there.

[Q] Battery went from 93% to 21% in just over an hour

I was getting for work this morning and my battery started at like 93%, and when I got to work, I noticed it was at 21%. What could have happened? I'm using my OEM battery and charger. I didn't do anything differently with it today than normal.

Seems like one of the app is trying to use wifi with GPS or possible it failed to switch to 4g. I would manually disable wifi and GPS, then recharge the phone and see if the issue went away. If it is then the next step is to identify the root cause.
I noticed that your battery levels off. Does it actually die within say 4 hours, or can you go the whole day? I had an issue where mine would level off round 20% and I could go on for a few hours longer.... ended up reflashing my ROM, clearing caches to fix it.

It had Wifi on always, and GPS some of the time.
Doesn't matter much now though; I got a new phone. That was the only time it happened though. Very odd.

The first thing I noticed after the update was improved fingerprint recognition. I've never had issues with my thumbs not reading, but it seemed my index fingers had to be perfectly aligned in order to unlock my phone. Now they work at off angles and much quicker.
I also promptly froze the Gear VR apps since I don't want to risk battery hits from something I won't use.
Anyone use stock messaging? I'm curious if the awful delay when trying to send a message is gone.
Just a question. With the app optimization do we still need greenery? Just wondering.

Weird thing I noticed was when when I factory reset after I took the update factory recovery was saying something about dfverify tree or something like that.
Interesting; I just had my Note5 unlocked and with my AT&T SIM in, I was able to download and install the update OTA.
Happy to see all known Stagefright vulnerabilities are now addressed.

SIM cards are used to determine OTAs for Nexus devices. But you are correct that they typically don't matter for other OEMs because each carrier gets a different model number assigned to their hardware variant.

Greenify? I'm wondering the same.
Wireless charging is being a lot more picky about where I place my phone on the pad after the update. I have to set it down a bit higher on the phone rather than centered like usual.

thats upsetting
i was having this problem prior to the update, was hoping for a fix
Samsung wireless charger is supper picky, third party ones, not so much
I'm already noticing improved battery life.
Unplugged for 3.5 hours, and in the marginal LTE/H area that I am for work, I would be down 20% or more with light usage. As of now, I'm at 89%.
Is anyone else experiencing issues with Text Messages? I'm using the stock messaging app (after I started having issues with EvolveSMS). I'll get the same text messages from someone 5 to 7 times, kind of getting annoying when my S2 vibrates and get's blown up with notifications.

Nougat is here!

Well tried to flash khongloi v6 got stuck on boot and for some reason could not get into recovery only dl mode so i used smart switch and emergency fw. And this is what i boot up too!!

The option does seem to be missing from the Wallpaper menu. I just set one that I downloaded from the Play Store though and it works fine. Just have to open the app after you download it and set it from there.

Do u have any kind of Bluetooth problems after u reboot the phone. ?
Installed Nougat 7.0 with Odin after download through SAMFIRM. No problem whatsoever encountered yet, everything works flawlessly. Phone seems little faster. After 4 hours of use also battery use seems little better compared to MM.

No, everything's working fine. I didn't fresh install. But I did have some battery issues. Device idle and cell stand by are the main battery drainer.

Maybe you already know, but I wanted to mention in case you didn't. After months of looking into cell standby battery drain, the ONLY way I can minimize it down to basically nothing is to be in airplane mode and using wifi/wifi calling. Sad to see that cell standby drain is still an issue with 7.0 though.
Thanks for the info, I've tried mostly everything but I still couldn't fix the issue.... As of right now I'm on 25% with device idle by being 8% drained about 225 mAh and cell standby being 5% drained 149 mAh.
It might be that I didn't do a fresh install... Since I haven't heard anyone having issues with battery. So I might factory reset in a bit.
