Now that Current Widget works on the Sensation It would be interesting to see what everyone else is getting on idle.
Im running standard rom Vodafone UK Branded and it doesnt seam to dip below 200mA on average, the lowest was 89ma for a few secs then shot back up. I have had it running and logging over night.
What is everyone else getting?

I'm getting 140-170 at idle, this is with juice defender, and data set to on every 2 hours
To be honest I don't think battery monitor widget I is reflecting the right amount of drainage. Change it from sensation to estimated and watch how much your numbers change

Mine is around 250ma when in idle. Overnight I have bluetooth, wifi, gps and push mail off and it only checks mail every 4 hours... so not quite sure what it is doing. Was running the same s/w on my HD2 and was getting < 5ma.

Same for me, I was getting <5ma on my HD2 when idle.
I wonder if SetCPU really works with the Sensation, having 250ma when idle would kill the battery way too fast!
I'm not sure if I have the maths/theory totally wrong, but pls correct me if so.... but if we have a reading of 250mah that means we are taking 250 ma per hour. Say our baterry is 1500mah (should provide 1500ma for one hour) does that mean we get 6 hours (1500/250) from a full charge??
Shoot me down if I have the theory wrong.... but 250mah does seem a lot. Presume that we need to trust the reading we are getting from the Battery Monitor Pro widget.

I think your math is correct, but something is surely wrong as I can get 3+ days under very light usage.
something wrong with mine tooo, ex user of hd2 usually around 7-9 mah when hd2 in idle, now use sensation around 200++
I gonna leave it 1rst if my battery drain in 6-7 hours then something wrong with my sensation but if it over 8 hours seem there is flaw in current widget
When the App does logging, your phone will need more power. Not accurate in my opinion. I also got something like 200 mA for idle. But it's not so much more when playing music etc. I assume the display consumes most of the power (Android's battery usage info agrees with me). Try measuring it in standy as follows: Disable your logging apps etc, remember your battery status in %. Leave it in Standby overnight, remember the time when you turn it off. In the morning, check your batetry status and note the time so that you can tell how many % you lost in what time. Then take that percentage from your battery capacity (1580 mah with stock battery). Divide this by the amount of hours and you will find your standby drain. Mine is something like 16 ma.
Example: Your battery when you go to sleep: 80%. You sleep for 8 hours. Your battery reading now: 70%. Thats 10%. 10% of 1580 mah is 158 mah. Divided by 8 is 19.75 ma. That's your standby consumption.
I recommend you do this when your battery is around 50%. My battery stays at 100% for a very long time, don't know why...
Just installed an update to the Battery Monitor Pro Widget that is supposed to address the issue of high current readings ont he Sensation. Will see how it goes.

Makes no difference.
No app to date is accurately measuring the stdby current (screen off) Clearly 200mA is not correct as your phone would only last 8 hours wiith no usage!
I'm getting 6 mA on idle, around average of 200 mA while in use.
I'm using battery monitor widget(free version).
I'm recording the history at 1 hour interval. sometimes idle mA doesn't record because it fall within that time frame.
but when it does, 6mA.

Go to your monitoring settings and go to ma retrieval settings and put it on sensation and then tell us what readings you get? I'm assuming your setting is on estimated right now

Now here's a strange thing.... was looking at my ma usage graph over night and noticed a couple of times it was on almost 0ma and not the normal 200-250ma. On looking at the history I noticed that this as the only time the temp fell below 25deg C. All other history was 200-250 and the temp was 25 and above.... very strange.... might put it in the fridge for a few minutes tonight!!

The recent update to CurrentWidget mentions it now works on the Sensation, but it's definitly not reading mA's correctly. Still a work in progress, I suppose.
What is everyone's feelings on Battery Monitor Widget (I am at work now so can't download it) and what is with this estimated setting? What is the point of that???
BTW, I can easily go 2 days with the 2 Sensations at my house...

Just an observation, but the graph at the top under where it says 1 day 19 hours clearly shows your battery going up 3 times. Which I was just going to pass up but I have a bunch of shots of my battery stats and none of them go up.

Battery Management
Hi, all.
I want to pass this tip along to anyone who want or need to conserve their battery for what ever reasons.
I have gone usually 3 day+ on one charge.
I'm running on stock rom. Froyo 2.2.1
It is rooted though
I use the phone moderately. Text occasionally.
I downloaded an app called "DataSwitch" by TomatoX.
I use wifi when I'm at home or work.
I have dataswitch activated when I don't need constant background data. ?I turn it on when I need to use it for surfing and such.
In Settings, there is also a toggle for background on/off, although I don't use this much.
With the data off, you can still get phone call and text msg.
I usually turn off data and wifi at bedtime.
On the third day, I'm usually down to 35%.
This may also be useful if you are low and can't get to a charge right away.
It may not apply to everybody, but it works for me..esp with only a 200mb data plan. Battery life is great!
lol look at that cell standby use your phone lol

Good one. But next time on, it would be more useful if you post the screenshots showing call duration and display time. With just this one screenshot it could have display on for just 5 mins or 50 mins. Its hard to tell.
Just now noticed, the tiny green bars in the screenshot (circled in red) come up when the phone is charging.
I noticed that (at least for my phone) if you connect it to wall charging it would reset the "time on battery" count but if i connected it via usb to pc it was charging, yeah slowly maybe but the timer never reset when connected via usb as if the phone said "well im charging but it doesnt counts since the guy its transfering data"(lmao yeah my phone is smart) so if you wait for 10% battery ans then go usb mode and charge it and use it and repeat i once got displaying 4 days 10 hours on battery haha.
While on my real stats my phone never last more than 18 hours ;/

I got my phone to say 2 days 15 hours once. As long as I don't charge it 100% the time on my battery continues to go up. I can plug it in while it has 10% left charge it till its 90% unplug it, and the time won't reset.
If anyone mistook my comment, I'm not really interested in claiming any specific record as the op as stated.
I simply meant to share my thoughts on "dataswitch" app and how I had applied it.
I think found it useful to limit data usage and to conserve the battery when I can't get a charge right away.
You'll be surprise how much battery life background data consumes.
The other part tech part of me also recognizes that battery memory exist...it may be best to "widen" your charge range (0% to 100%) when possible.
Well, I figured out what caused that.. My radio in my truck has a USB port that I plug my phone into to listen to my music. Worked great on my Ipod but it wouldn't charge my Ipod. However today when coming home, I plugged my phone in and it doesnt show to be charging, but when I looked at the Battery Use chart, it deffinately showed an increase.
And here I was thinking I was getting impecable battery life lol.

I wear my S2 24/7 except when in the shower or charging. Sometimes only 20% of battery usage happens during the day and 5% at night, other times those numbers can be doubled or even more. I have tried everything to try and figure out what is different when there is higher battery usage. I even did a factory reset and only reinstalled those apps/clock faces I actually use. The only thing that seems to make a difference is charging, if it is using a lot of battery and then I charge it things seem to go back to low battery usage.
I have wireless and nfc turned off, no auto heart rate, and no ambient watch face. At night I turn on Do Not Disturb. I use brightness setting of three which is fine with the watch face am using these days (Exile Blue by Fischbein).
Anybody else see this sort of variability and any ideas of what causes it?
Thanks,
Fred
I wear it 24/7 except with already mentioned and sometimes gets bad battery but never turned off auto heart rate. Honestly the watch can last me 24 hours, not sure how people can get more except without using the watch at all. I know at night, I will turn on power save which helps tremendously. I'd say turn that on throughout the day, you just won't have nice face or use apps except phone and message
I've noticed that it really matters hat watchface you are using. My settings and usage are identical to yours. With the "Modern Utility" watchface I get out about 48h.
With the "Dashboard" watchface, which has no animation, it's steady 60h. So if you swap them throughout the day - that's the explanation.

Thanks.
Mine is variable without changing the watch face which is what is confusing. By the way, I have the seen the same behavior with both a Sport and a Classic.
I have been thinking about writing an app that tracks battery usage over time and creates a graph. I wonder how hard that would be. Might be a fun project.
Fred
Can someone let me know some good settings for battery life on LTE watch? My battery don't even make it threw the day? Please?
I'm new to the watch (classic), so I'm running relatively stick settings.
I did set it to only turn on WiFi when Bluetooth connection lost. Screen timeout fifteen seconds. Location services off (figure if I'm driving and need it I'd rather use phone services).
I'm getting 48 hours between charges and dropping to around thirty percent.
Do you have a watch face that's running tons of stuff? Or basic one?
Talking on it a lot, or running music through it?
Basic watch face.

Something else obviously tapping your watch battery.
First thing I'd do is set a plain basic face. Then test for a day, if battery issue fixed then you just had a poorly designed face. Some take heart rate every minute... Steps, weather update. Stuff you may not realize is even happening.
If that doesn't do it, check your notifications. Do tons on apps send notifications often? Maybe drop down to a min amount, then test for a day.
I'd definitely set lte "mobile networks" to auto, then WiFi completely off or only on when Bluetooth disconnects. WiFi isn't much benefit when you have lte, because there's not much you can do with the watch to eat up any data cap you might have, so could leave it off.
Heart rate check every hour, nothing shorter.
Screen time out fifteen seconds
Hopefully that sorts it.
Another consideration is you could have a lemon. How long have you had it? Might have an overheating issue, which could eat the battery. I've heard of a few, but pretty rare I think.
Good luck,
Ooo

Hello, suggest resetting it. Use Blue Stealth watch face as it had very little white light which uses a lot of power.
Also. When it is disconnected from bluetooth and the LTE radio is on this will use much more battery. Keep all other settings as you have them. Samsung Health "nudges" also use battery so if you dont need them, turn those off too.
See if this helps too extend the battery life. If not then you truly may have a lemon.

Set up is everything. I use a black and white face with color only for a second hand. I turn off stuff I don't need like NFC and BT and wifi (don't need if LTE). I turned off Location because it doesn't seem to effect GPS when I'm walking. Not sure why yet. I dont use alot of wizz bang apps like a map, news alerts, or fancy running app. Just SHealth and there are things that the phone is just better for, like news. I get about 36-48 hours depending on if I text alot OR IF I'M OUT OF CELL RANGE. You'll burn alot of battery if the watch is looking for a tower. I'm working on how to manage that better. Hope that helps.

I had the exact same problem with my watch, and I was never able to figure it out. I tried factory resetting it, booting it up in recovery mode, uninstalling all 3rd party apps, letting it drain completely and recharging it, etc., but nothing seemed to affect the battery drain. The weird thing is the watch would last 3 days on a charge even though it would drain quickly at first. It would go down to 55% within the first couple of hours, rise back up to 60-70%, and then drain slowly for the next 2 days. The fact that the battery lasted 3 days was great, but the initial drain bugged me so much that I sold the watch.
I read a post on the official Samsung forum where a guy said he narrowed his battery drain problem down to a bug in the Weather app. He claims the GPS antenna continuously searches for the location, even when Location Services are turned off. His solution is to never update the Weather app. Since I don't have the watch anymore, I have no way to verify it.

FYI,
Latest Galaxy Watch 4 update improves Samsung Health, brings March security patch
Samsung has started rolling out a new software update to the Galaxy Watch 4. The update carries build number R870XXU1FVC8.
www.xda-developers.com
I just downloaded it, but have not seen anything obviously different.
I got it yesterday. ECG seemed to work for me, but I also could just not have done it right when I first got the watch. Otherwise, no obvious change.
And installed, and it doesn't fix the major AOD issues. It goes into ambient mode and no longer adjusts brightness until it is awakened and then adjusts. It IS updating the time in ambient, but I have only just begun monitoring it. In the past, it seems to be OK for a while after rebooting, then starts not updating the time and taking forever to respond to waking it up. Will follow up when I know more.
Ensure you do not have power save mode turned on. Otherwise it sounds like you have an app that maybe is causing you an issue.
Battery life is way better. It was already great, but definitely improved. I put it on last night around 11, turned on sleep for android while I slept. Used it to record a workout at the gym for about 50 minutes, and now it's 6 and it's at 55%.
Nice. Have not paid attention to my battery usage since the update. The watch has been fine so far.
not yet available for me. (CSC: TUR)

Hmm, well, the watch updated time in ambient mode and exited ambient mode immediately (correctly) all day today. Looks promising, even though it will take more than a day to convince me that two of the three AOD problems are actually fixed...
The only difference I have seen is that when I swipe down to see the battery life, it now puts the date there for 3-4 seconds before it shows the battery life. I don't know who thought this was a good idea, but they must be a total idiot. I already have the date on most watch faces anyway. it is just a waste of time and an irritation. I hope Samsung fixes this bug.

Well, another day of several hours of use where ambient mode is still exiting instantly when wanted and also updating time. I really think maybe they did slip in some fixes? If so, why not take credit for them and tell us in the release/update notes??

Yeah, it doesn't seem pretty stupid and pointless. Maybe they thought some watch faces don't have the date??

Exactly the opposite for me. Since the update I get only about 1.5 days of use max now where before I could get a solid 2. The update is killing battery life that was already pretty mediocre on this watch. I miss the 4+ days with the GW...

I can't tell much difference in battery life. For my use, it seems lower than before this update. Not a LOT lower, though.

I agree with you. Latest update is a piece of sh!7 regarding battery life.
I own a 40mm bt watch. When i used it offline with the previous update (flight mode and battery saver mode, measurements every 10 minutes and blood o2 during sleep) i achieved up to 60hrs.
Now its just a freaking day. No more. What a big mess.
Now when i connect the watch via bt to my phone i loose 6% per hr even if i dont do anything with it. I'm very very disappointed and hate the fact that I'm not able to downgrade.
I wish they would fix the Google pay issue where it doesn't come up as an option and only forces Samsung pay.
Auto cycling recognition?
Hope i post this in the correct place.
Can you guys answer Whatsup calls thru the Watch? Mine says on screen to answer thru the phone so i don't know if it is a permission thing or it is supposed to work like that.
Thanks in advance.
