Play Store updates after 'other source' installed apps? - General Questions and Answers

Edited...
Just recently Google Contacts became available for everyone (not pixel specific anymore). I have the app installed through APKMirror. Now that it's available from the Play store also for my device (OP5), do I need to remove my APKMirror version (and install the one from Play store) for play store to offer new updates?
So is there some 'header info' or anything in the App preventing Play store to offer updates for the Google Contacts?
Hoping the same (general availability) happens for Google Phone (Dialer).
// Timo

There seems to be definitely a difference on the version I have installed from APK mirror as the Store update version hasn't been offered from the play store...

Any follow-up on this anyone ?
So if I have originally installed app 'X' from APKMirror (as hasn't yet been available from the Play Store) > it later becomes available from Play store > HOW (other than un-installing the app 1st) am I able to get updates through the Play Store? Or do I need to remove the APKMirror installation first and re-install the app 'X' through Play Store?

[Q] Google Play crashes at start on chinese tablet

Hello, community! I recently bought a Chinese tablet and one of the first things I did was to install Google Play and Google Play Services via apk, I also added my Google account. The problem is that after loading for a while it says: 'The application Google Play Store has closed unexpectedly'. The amazing thing is that it pops up a notification that there are updates for my apps! Also the tablet shows up in my Google account as a device. The other applications that require Google Play services (like youtube and google now) run fine. My firmware version is 4.1.1. Also the download manager IS enabled. Any help appreciated. Thanks.

This means that you have purchased a chinese style software configuration tablet. Thanks to encouragement by ccp policies towards google, many manufacturers (would you believe i have in my hands a samsung note 8 that does the same thing!) have stripped out the play store in favor of other alternatives. For me, i am going to root and flash this tablet and forget default aoftware is even something that exists.....

Google Play Store not Downloading Apps

Hello,
My dad bought himself a Mate 9 Pro in China and brought it back home today. I've installed the GMS from the HiApp app store and downloaded the Google Play store from there as well.
When I try to download apps from the Play store, the apps won't download. It continues to say "downloading" but no progress is being made.
I am downloading apks in the interim, but would be much more convenient if I could take advantage of the Play Store.
Am i doing something wrong? The build number is b156, if I'm reading it correctly.
I've tried:
- Deleting cache and data from Google Play Store
- Reinstalling GMS
- Allowing unknown sources for app downloads (i.e. from places other than HiApp) and app installations.
- Granting all permissions to Play Store and Play Services
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Check the permissions in the app settings, make sure Play store has access to internal storage. I just allowed all permissions for the play store and any google related services.
Do not try anything else. I have tried all kinds of solutions including the ones you listed above. Just be patient and wait for system update to solve the problem and download some 3rd party store like apkpure as a temporary solution

I forgot to mention that, but yes, I did grant all permissions to play store and Google Play services, but I'm still having issues. Thanks for the response !

Yeah, I may just do that for now. My dad doesn't use that many apps anyway so I can probably just download the rest of the apks he needs and install them manually as well. Thanks!

Google Play-Services without Google Play Store?

Hey, guys.
I have just rooted my phone and I deleted bloatware and Google Play Store. My reason for this is that I spend WAY too much time online on my phone which I want to limit - therefore I have deleted both the Chrome Browser and Google Play Store (so I can't just go in and download Chrome again) and as stated above some bloatware.
However I have found out that my Gmail and other apps will not work without Google Play Store installed. I even tried to download and install the newest version of Google Play-Services without Play Store and it doesn't work. If I then install Google Play Store and Google Play-Services it all works.
So my question is this: is there a way to have Google Play-Services work without Google Play Store? Some of the apps are kind of important and I can't just replace them with another similar app. My hope is to be able to use all apps without Play Store installed.
Kind regards
Martin

Can't you just download it from APKMirror? So just sideload the apk. Should work, although I haven't tried it.
I already tried that and it only works when I also have Play Store installed :/

Always update ALL apps

Often when I open an app that I use not so much, that requests to update and I must wait to use it.
There is an option to always automatic update all apps?
Yes there is. Via play store go to settings->Network preferences->Auto-update apps.
