Nexus 5 3G - not finding operator

Hello,
I bought a new device, Nexus 5 from China
And I have a problem when I insert SIM regardless of which provider I have no reception (no service),
Tried to set the correct APN settings with the provider but it didn't help.
It works out only when I'm working on 2G when I return to 3G again no reception. (No LTE in my country - Israel) .
I can't find any operator after switching to 3G.
when I switch from 3G back to 2G I still can't find operator only after a restart.
Do you have any data about my problem? and how\were can I get service support in my country? Thank you.

Same problem here...anyone?

Well, depending on your operator, 3G frequenties used maybe not the same as the ones uses in China.
I know that USA LTE(4G) isn't the same as here, in France (If not I would have bought it in USA for 349$, that equals to 255€. And I bought my N5 349€ in the play store)
Try to call your operator and ask them for the frequenties they're using ?

Are you sure this method workd for the problem I am having? Please note that I can select 3g but its not getting any network while others have problem where they cannot select 3g. I am asking here before following the video so that I do not mess up my device.

have you checked the APN settings, you might wanna check online for the best configuration for your carrier

Bro i'm not talking about the 2g or 3g , it is not catching any signals only, it connects and disconnects continuously

I am in Bangalore. For me Tata Docomo is not working. But Airtel is working. But in Airtel i am able to get only 2G not 3G/4G.

Airtel sim connectivity issue
I have got my nexus 5 last novemeber and got it for service at an authorised service centre because of a blur screen issue. Now that issue is cleared, but i find it difficult to get a good coverage for airtel network even at places where airtel has good coverage. i have tried other sim (vodafone) as well and it works perfectly. This is not an APN issue; i have used the same airtel sim for almost one year in the same device
I took this to service centre and demanded an explanation, but they are saying other sims are working fine, and hence it is an error caused by airtel network.
I took a duplicate sim and also tried my sister's airtel sim. Both instances gave the same results of poor network connectivity.
Can anyone help??
i have tried factory reset as well... so i am almost out of options...

now I'm on lollipop 5.0.2, software version 2.33.720.3
now 4G s available in mi town. frm airtel. currently I'm usin reliance cdma in sim1 nd airtel in sim2. mi airtel s 4G ready sim. whn I insert mi airtel 4G sim in sim1 slot. I'm not getting any 4G sign nor nothing changes. always its 3G. does ny1 usin 4G lemme know.

One E8 doesn't support 4G in India. No way to use it.

Probably bevause when it was released, 4G was prevalent in India.
I know, it has 3 bands of 4G, none currently used in India, so no way to use 4G in India.

should we not sue HTC India for selling a device with false pretense? When I called HTC, they said their devices are country specific. If so, why is HTC advertising it as a 4G device if it cannot be used even in India?

Thought so too, but their website clearly says 4G only available while roaming. So we'll have no ground. And the clearly mention which bands too. I don't remember where they advertised it as a 4G device too.

we can't sue HTC coz thy put all th possible in th fone. th problem is with the network provider.
now airtel hav launched 4G in bangalore etc. etc long time back which is in some old version band. in mumbai chennai they have launched 1800 band 3 which htc one e8 m8sd opj40000 I mean indian phone will work. bangalore its 2300 band 40 wich old technology.
Now I need some help from U guys. guys frm mumbai chennai pls try airtel 4G sim in Ur fone. if U ar already wth airtel thn change Ur sim with new 4G enabled sim. others pls buy a new 4G nd try. jus put ny 3G plan 4G will work fine. I'm already in lollipop 5.0.2. I believe there is some issue with 4G in lollipop 5.0.2. guy who are already in kitkat pls do new update 1.260.73.6 ny try new sim.
I hav just confirmed with airtel tht our great htc one e8 m8sd opj40000 will work 4G in india with network provider who hav LTE band 1(2100), 3(1800), 41(2500)

I have a 4g enabled Airtel sim (ported recently from vodafone) and it shows me only H or 3G.... I have switched the bands to GSM/WCDMA/.....LTEAUTO and restarted the phone also.... but speedtest.net shows 1.5mbps speed only...
Edit : I changed the band using *#*#4636#*#* and upon reboot the band returns to GSM/WCDMA/CDMA and EVDO (PRL)
Anyone know how to make it stick ??
Also, i am on locked bootloader, non rooted and 5.0.2

data speed depend upon signal strength. ar U gettin 4G signal or not? tht s th question here.
now go to settings >mobile data >solt 1 network >tap gsm/utms option> inside tht does it shows gsm only/utms only/lte etc. etc.?? if so Ur ar lucky.
by th way wich city ar U from?

once change th band no need to restart th fone. jus keep using it. also 3G pack must be active. even thn U don't get 4G. register complaint calling 198 only if U ar in mumbai or chennai

I am in Mumbai and yes, i get full signal in my office... it also shows only 3G or H...
When i tap SLOT 1 NETWORK it only shows me 3 options
PREFERRED NETWORK -- 3 options in that (GLOBAL MODE / CDMA MODE / GMS UMTS mode) --- Global mode is selected
CDMA OPTIONS - Greyed out
GSM / UMTS Options -- This has only Access point names and Network Operators (greyed out)
And ye my data is on and i'm using data continuously on a 1 gb plan....

This is the reply i got from Airtel
Dear Gregory Fernandes,
This is in reference to your email expressing inability to access 4G service on your airtel mobile **********.
We request you to follow the below mentioned steps to download the internet settings:
Step 1. SMS MO to 54321 (tollfree)
Step 2. Save the settings on your handset
Step 3. Switch off/on your handset
Internet services will be activated on your mobile within 30 minutes.
Further, we request you to latch onto 4G network in order to use 4G service.
To change the network settings in order to latch onto 3G, please follow the below mentioned simple steps:
· Go to Phone settings
· Select Network Settings/Network Mode
· Select LTE mode,
· Press OK to Save
Thank you for choosing airtel.
None of this worked as was expected.....

As far as I know, none of this will work until htc sends an update to enable 4G, like it did with the M8. It initially didn't support 4G, but an update was sent to enable it. That brought LTE under the options in network, whereas we have only 2G, 3G and CDMA. LTE should be there for LTE to work.
Also, from what I've heard via someone close, htc isn't considering the update, for them, E8 in India doesn't support 4G.

No source mentioned in the article. So they may or may not be correct. As far as I know, it won't. Unless htc decide otherwise.

Hi guys recently reliance jio in india launched new 4g service with 4 GB daily free usage for 4 months and unlimited calls for free. they only provide service to 4g lte phones.I know that I will get only 3g speed but that's not a problem. Is there any tricks to use 4g sim on 3g phone. I tried dialing *#*#4636#*#* and selected lte but the menu comes back to wcdma . is it possible to do system changes to trick the phone that it's network is 4g.I use cm 12.1 rooted. If any one can help it will be awesome.

In no way you can change the frequencies if phone's modem doesn't allow you. It's not just faking the icon on status bar.

It just just unlocks available bands
If your modem does not have LTE band then its useless
It unlocks all bands which the modem supports nothing more

Idk... maybe the hardware supports it but needs some software changes ... like driver ...
My device (lenovo a3000h) apparently doesn't support 4g but there is "LTE" option in network type in "tablet information "...

I don't think that you can do that.

If the network only uses LTE bands, there's no way you can get '3G speeds' or use your SIM card in a phone that doesn't support LTE.

I tried to find what's the difference between 3g and 4g devices but couldn't find what i wanted ...
maybe both have the same hardware but 4g needs different software and stronger processor ...and they locked it in weak phones to prevent crashes...

LTE 4G not working on both sim

I'm on 5.1.9 but despite i activated the option only the Sim used for data traffic can actually connect to 4G. The other Sim seems forced and stuck in 3G at 900MHz (band 8)

There's no use for LTE on the phone sim unless you are lucky to live in China, India or Finland AND use a sim card of the view carriers supporting VoLTE in the OP6.

No sense reply. OP declares dual 4G on both Sim. My phone supports 4g only one sim and the worse the secondary sim is locked on 3G band 8

Are you using any custom rom? i faced similar issue on havoc rom

No. Pure stock 5.1.9

I had the same problem. But i went back to 5.1.8 and problem solved now dual 4g active.

Crazy but settings the phone on the English instead of my local language the problem seems gone.

I'm in America and I'm having the same problems after the 5.1.9 update, one SIM is always in regular GSM mode even with the dual-4G mode enabled.

That is completely false. Even T-Mobile in the US supports VoLTE. Even if it didn't though, it still allows for faster SIM switching since it was already on LTE.

Curious how you guys are checking it. Mine both say VoLTE and it seems to be fine for me.

I reset the network settings and it work for a few hours. The dual sim 4g instructions are broken .
