Xiaomi Redmi 4 Prime hardware problem. Help needed badly! - General Questions and Answers

Hello everyone, I'm new to this forum. I need a solution very badly. Recently I made a amplifier, and unfortunately I plugged amplifier's output speaker line to my Redmi 4 Prime's headphone jack. After starting amplifer, my phone got reboot and earpiece speaker making so noise during call, and also when I plugged headphone, sometimes phone getting rebooted itself while plugging, and right speaker of headphone making only noise and getting hot! Also when I boost bass, headphone stopping any music playing sound. I disassembled my phone and check that the headphone jack port shown about 2V on multimeter, which might be abnormal. Now I can't talk without loudspeaker (because of noise). Guys, how can I solve this??? ??????

Weird problem, please help me!

Ok here's the story.
My Prophet is, well, an elderly.
I think it's like 5 year old.
I already had to replace touchscreen, battery and the rear speaker.
Anyway my problem now is that I don't have any sound.
Only when I recieve a call or text message I get a ringtone or notification.
Windows media player does not give sound, screen taps etc neither.
Only ringtones give sounds, through rear speaker.
Also when I get a call the earphone speakers doesn't work, the microphone does.
My earphone jack works perfectly so it isn't the audio chip that's broke.
So what i was thinking is that my phone thinks it's using an headset and redirects al sounds to my earphone jack. Only using the rear speaker for ringtones. (so maybe someone could confirm that the ringtone still rings when using an headset)
So does anybody know what the problem is or just help me on the way?
Regard, Paul
I doubt it's 5 years old! Maybe 2?...
Anyway, this is a common issue, the headphone jack is not 'releasing' the sound back to the speaker due to short / stuck connector switch. Blow down it or wiggle the plug.

ok, i was right about the headphone jack making the phone think that it was using headphones when it didn't.
I opened my phone and also opened the casing for the jackplug. I saw that a piecie op copper was bent to far and that it was causing to cancel a circuit wich made the phone think it was unsing no headphones.
When you plug in the headphones, the plug pushes away this copper piece and stops sound.
My solution was to bend the piece back so it makes contact again when the headphones are not plugged in.
Thank you for your advice, it's working great again.

Strange Earphone Problem

Recently, My phone was exposed to a LOT of dust while I was driving, and the sennheiser earphones stopped working.
After I returned home, I cleaned my earphone jack with cotton swab and running water, and my earphones too with running water and did a factory reset, so I don't think it's a software issue
But every time I connect my earphones to my phone, The output is from my speaker ;-;
Here's whats funny.
Other earphones work with my phone
These sennheiser earphones works with other devices and when plugged half way in my phone , they also work temporarily when they are wet ...
So ... do I have a phone problem or an earphone problem
Any help is appreciated
An earphone problem.
If other earphone works with your phone then it's your earphones that are ****ed.
The gold plating on the jack might be causing this issue.

3.5 headphone jack not working

Hello. My headphone jack suddenly stopped working. When I plug it in I hear the crackle of the connection come over my headphones or car speakers but then when I try to play the sound is output of the phone speaker. I've checked the jack for lint, dust, etc and it's clean. Any thoughts on what the problem may be?
In full disclosure, I was looking to lift the volume cap on my headphones and did open the mixer_paths.xml but could not find the section on where to do that and therefore did not make any changes at all. This problem did seem to pop up before that though.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
Try replacing mixer_paths.xml with my modded one.

If you look on your cord, you can sometimes see either 3 or 4 black rings around the jack. Aux cords and such will typically use 3 rings. I have an aux cord with 4 rings around both sides, and the phone won't play through speakers, either.
Thanks for the replies. Ended up re-flashing my entire phone with the stock ROM and still no go. I am sending the phone back as it's defective. Also in my experimentation I've found that if I hit on my leg a few times the sound does feed out of the headphone jack so it's certainly something hardware related.
Thanks to all.

Left channel of headphone jack not working

Hi,
the left channel on the headphone jack is not working.
First I thought it's just dust or litter so I cleaned the jack.
Since that didn't help I bought a replacement headphone jack, opened up the phone and changed it.
But the problem is still there.
(Now I'm hearing a very very low signal on the left channel. (It's only noticeable when I take out the right earplug in a silent room.))
Of course I also tried different headphones. Same result.
Audio over USB-C or bluetooth works fine.
What else could be the problem?
I'd say it's damaged board
