In line volume up button does not control volume - Google Pixel Questions & Answers

I am running 8.0 OTA, bootloader is unlocked but not rooted. The volume up button was initially activating the google voice assistant. To try and stop this, I went into the Google App settings and under Voice>Hands-free I deactivated the "for wired headsets" and "for bluetooth devices" toggles. I also went into the Voice>"OK Google" detection and deactivated the "Say "OK Google" any time toggle. Now, if the screen is on, the volume up button works as expected, but if the screen is off, it just brings up the prompt to change the Google App settings again. Is there any way to fix this so that the volume up button always works for volume? Also, it would be ideal to be able to reactivate the "Say Ok Google any time" toggle, as I would like to be able to activate it from any screen, I just don't want it to activate from the headphone controls.
Thanks

I'm starting to think there's something wrong with the Pixel input jack. Mine stopped working completely, unless I was in safe mode. Then that stopped. Now if I use my higher end headphones, the inline control responds, speaker turns off like I'm using headphones, but every button is volume down and I have no sound. I'm attempting a reset with 8.0 and the stock image... but ya, I don't know if there's much you can do.

Screen lock on A2DP Bluetooth?

Firstly - hello all! What a great forum, I've gone from knowing nothing about Windows Mobile to having a fully customised Raphael in about 48 hours!
But: I have a set of Motorola S9 Bluetooth headphones which work excellently (although I haven't yet made or received a call using them). I also have a Sony a2dp Bluetooth headunit which also works excellently.
However .... As a matter of course I use the one touch power button to lock/standby, and when I press play/pause on either bluetooth device it automatically unlocks the phone.
When I'm driving this isn't such an issue as I will be ordering a Brodit Car Cradle very soon. But when I have the handset in my pocket using the S9 having it unlocked is a recipe for unwanted screen presses. I use the Touch Media Player (I know it's not the best but it seems to work OK for what I want) and the handset switches to the Music screen automatically (as well as unlocking) whenever I press play/pause. So theoretically it's pretty likely that it's only the media player that will get messed with, but you never know...
So my question is: Is there any way of stopping it from unlocking like this without introducing extra locking/unlocking complications?
hi
im using the Jabra BT3030, that uses A2DP aswel, on my touch pro and my phone stays locked when i start stop use the voice dailing, changing volume or song.
the phone turns on that is true, are u sure u are using the lock function
to realy lock ure phone u have to press and hold the end call button for 2 seconds(lower right button). if that button is not set to lock u can change that in ure phone settings under settings>long press end key there u can chose lock device
i hope this helps, let me know

Yeah, I'm using SonyEricsson HBH-DS980, and for me too the phone only turns on upon play/pause etc., but does not unlock.
Have you guys had any problems with receiving/making call using your headests? I have a problem that after a few minutes into a call my headset disconnects, although BT stays on, and I have to restart the headset to re-acquire BT-lock. And it keeps doing this every few minutes. Highly annoying - renders my headset completely useless for phone calls (luckily it still rocks for listening to music).
Mine does the same. Both with my HBH-DS970 and with my HTC BT headphones. I tried the long-press end key lock which works, but prevents me from changing tracks using the HTC headset, yet the volume control works. Weird huh?
I haven't tried the long end key press to lock the device. But thats because I use that for switching on vibrate mode.
Anyone got any other suggestions?
I'm using the motorola S9 too, and my TP doesn't unlock when I press play/pause.
Note that I've installed Answerkeydisabler and Advanced Config Tool and played with locking/screen-off, and may have activate some options leading to this behaviour...

u can always set the long key to "always display the quick list" so u can chose to lock ure device or set ure vibrate ringer
also u can just use the volume keys to change ure ringer to vibrate/sound to
I am now using the quick list so it sort of solves the problem. But it still seems a little awkward compared to just pressing the power button once and not having the a2dp commands reactivating it.
Are we saying that this cant be done?
Any ideas?

mute mode with Android 5.0

Hello,
I just passed to Android 5.0 yesterday and no way to go to mute mode.
Before, when I press down volume, after i had vibrator mode and one press down again and mute mode.
Now, if I'm on vibrator mode and press down volume, no mute anymore .
Thanks.
It's a known issue, (or maybe bug)?
It seems the only way to get into mute mode is by turning volume down to vibrate, then tap volume up one time and... Reboot. After reboot you're in mute mode.

Mute is required!!!
Just press volume up/down and tap "PRIORITY". By default it will be the same as "mute" mode.
In 5.0 the "mute" just became customizable

Except you'll still get notifications in "priority" mode and make noise. I had everything unchecked and some Facebook notification came thru when I was sleeping the other night. If there is some way to disable all notifications (but keeping the alarm) short of killing the internet connection I don't know.
This sucks in Android L. Hope some skilled dev can do something about it.
Or maybe Google will fix it if enough ppl complains: https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=79445

Tap a volume button and click "NONE". That will turn off ALL notifications, either indefinitely, or for the period you specify (defaults to 1 hour, but you can increase it by tapping)
[Edit] Oh wait, I just saw that you said "but keeping the alarm". Oh well...
No way there is no soulution for this problem dudez!

Can't get "Ok Google" to work without pressing button

I can't seem to get this to work anytime without holding down the top button. I've tried disconnecting and reconnecting the watch. I've tried factory resetting the watch. Nothing seems to work and "ok Google detection" is greyed out when you hold the button and scroll to the bottom. What am I not doing?
Is voice recognition available on the watch?

Volume in bluetooth headsed of Google Assistant

Hello,
Sorry for my rude english, i'm can't perfect speak it. If somebody will help, i would appreciate.
My problems :
1. I have <<oneplus 5t>> and bluetooth headset <<zealot h1 headset>>. For now, Google announced my language for GA, and i'm already tryed it. But in headsed volume of voice of assistant is too low when i ask "Okay Google" throught headset by pressing button, in other way, by pressing button on touchscreen or without bluetooth connection volume is normal. So, how to set up volume in headset? Volume of media set for maximum. It was a first problem.
2. Sometimes not working buttons in Google SmartLock such as "Access with Voice Match", "Unlock with voice match", "Re-record template of voice" and "Delete template of voice" (i d'nt know how it in english firmware, free-translated), and when it's disabled (grey-colored), don't working "Okay Google" on desktop.
Please, help about it.
And for search - i'm searched solutions on local forums, but no answers
Update: volume is low, when Google Assistant is active, but when minimized - volume is normal. Like focus lost on GA - volume is normal.

Xiaomi 10 Pro shortcut swipe from lock screen and Bluetooth volume sync

Hi, been playing this phone for 1 week already.
Which i find it very interesting and useful!
But there are some issues which i find it redundant and would like to see if experts out there can solve it.
1. When i long press the fingerprint in lock screen, it will unlock the phone. but when you press long enough i can access to the Wechat pay, Mi AI, Alipay shortcuts.
I use wechat pay alot, so when i swipe to do payment (the barcode one), it will notify me EVERYTIME Not to send the code to other people unless making payment and i have to press "got it". Is there a way i can bypass this and go directly to the barcode just like when you doing it the longest way where you have to open the wechat > wechat pay > Money.
2. when i connect my bluetooth speakers (my speaker has its own volume control), the volume of my xiaomi phone and speaker volume works separately.
What i mean is when i turn the volume up on the phone only the phone media volume goes up and not the speaker. so i have to turn up the speaker volume again to set the volume i want. Is there a way that could sync both volume at the same level so one volume key can set both phone and speaker.
i found that this is a common case too where many people are searching for solution...
I have tried the enabling/disabling absolute audio which doesn't work
I just found out that the problem will not persist when i am on a call.
So when i press the volume up and down on the bluetooth headset, it will also control the volume on the phone (the volume bar on the phone will go up and down while i am increasing or decreasing the volume on headset)
I've found that the problem is very common with every single phone I had..... probably it depends also from the bluetooth accesories used.
