Huawei updater is a windows program to install Huawei rom, as found in the official rom database here. (like Huawei firmware finder in fact, but here is an alternative). Warning huawei updater could be use only with "full OTA" and not '"incremental OTA" (written in the database as "OTA")
It has been developed for Huawei P9 and P9 plus by @hajuuk, but the version 2.0 enables custom rom installation, and it makes it usable on other devices, as long as you highly take care of choosing a correct rom for your device (WARNING!!).
On this page (install method 2), it is recommanded to be used with mediapad X2 ! You just need: Hisuite on your windows OS, exact name of the ROM, and exact url has found on the above database. Here with full rom B205.
For another example with the update only file (so to apply on already android 6 702L ROMs) B202 from march 2017 (GPS and push fixed in this rom! but Xposed non working): name "GEM-702LC158B202", and url:
Code:
http://update.hicloud.com:8180/TDS/data/files/p3/s15/G733/g490/v78383/f1/
).
Hi Djiban, thanks for posting this here. The GPS and Push issues being fixed in the GEM-702L B205 stock ROM might be worth going through a reinstall. Just a couple of quick questions:
* Are you sure that the GEM-702L B205 Stock ROM does not have the GPS and Push issues?
* Has anyone tried a Factory Reset while having GEM-703L B212 installed to see if it fixes these issues? One user reported that they were able to overcome these issues after doing a Factory Reset with B212
* Regarding installing of the GEM-702L stock B205, if I currently have GEM-703L stock B212 installed, what is the *simplest* way for me to install GEM-702L B205? Can I simply flash it using "Installation method 1" in that thread by placing it in my SD Card under the "DLoad" directory and flashing?
* Last question, do you think that Huawei will update this device anymore to a newer update in the near future?
Moderator Edit:
Please avoid making mentions - particularly so many. We get more complaints about these than anything else.
These have been deleted.
I'll make a more complege answer later, but please note that this is the march 4th 2017 B202 that solve the gps ans pish notification issues, NOT the B205!

Thanks Djiban for clearing that up. The only question I forgot to ask is what does this B202 have that the B212 (latest for GEM-703L) does not? Are there known bugs in B202 that were fixed in B212?
Thanks again and sorry for all these questions!

Xposed framework won't run because of sellinux problem.
Very interested in trying 202 to see if my GPS finally works correctly. Since we are flashing stock, I assume we will have to find ways to add Google market and remove other things, right?

Thanks. I am trying to use this updater but after HiSuite downloads to 100% it never moves to installing. Any ideas?
I am trying to do the full version of 202 to then run the OTA update.
http://update.hicloud.com:8180/TDS/data/files/p3/s15/G733/g490/v55971/f1
GEM-702LC158B202
With this app at least it downloads.
When trying to use the official huwaei app from the other thread, I do all the steps, entering the changelog and clicking set then Register then entering the DNS ip or in the HiSuite app but either way it tells me that I am using the latest version (KANGPIN 212).
So in the end, I am not getting either one to work :/

Hi guys,
for some reason after I did update to KangVIP I can't get rid off it. Besides I got no wifi and bt and I was going to start over with b023 as suggested but at this point I wont bother anymore.
I did wipe the system, I did advanced wipe using twrp but no matter what I do none of the stock firmwares are going through however the Kanga one always goes through.(KangaVIP goes through only in TWRP)
twrp 2.8.7.0
wipe
advanced wipe
I select all the partitions
mkdosfs process ended with error=1
unable to wipe /usb
unknown mtp message type: 1
unable to wipe /usb
I go back, restart to fastboot, (device is saying there is no OS installed), I restore the recovery, create dload folder on my sdcard, put there 028 (actually I tried all of them already), volume+ volume - power and I get error.
What am I missing ?
Anyone can help ?
Thanks in advance.
Eric
First you did a OTA from B029 to B209?
If so you are now on a Android 6 ROM you cant go back to Android 5 without a Rollback from Huawei.

Yes I did then I wiped everything and started with b028 again.
Same thing, wifi didn't work same with BT.
Wipe again and this time I did local update and since the local update I can't go back not even b029.

If you on a Android 5 ROM you can force update a Complete ROM to install a clean system and try if everything works.

I'm stuck on 6.0
I know I can do force update on 5.0 I said it above I just can't do it with 6.0 -> b029, only with your rom.
Anyone else is having this issue ?
The Kanga rom got a quite few problems no wifi and not BT, Google play services crashing (this can be fixed with gapps) my co worker just tried it with his own methods and same issue. After I went through the whole Kanga thread 60% of the posters got problems most of them are ignored.
I don't have any problems but I think the people with problems are people who have a DAV 701L.

I got DAV-703L, just simple question, why is the wifi and bt not working ?
When I get into Kanga I can remove the root or deny access to it is there a way to ditch it ?
Yeah I know it's working for you and it's not working for 10 other people including 703L owners. There is something wrong with the rom no doubt about it.

I think there was an error while flashing and without a full clean Rom flash i can't see a solution.
Before I got it to work I flashed it more than 3 times and everytime everything worked so I think don't think the ROM is that bugged.

The first rom you introduced is working "fine" I get the wifi and bt no problem but once I switch into the latest build it's gone.
Any idea where can I get full clean Rom ?
This one is a no go http://www.needrom.com/download/p8max-dav-703l/
I managed to rollback to 5.1.1 but when I try to force flash it, it says it's not compatible.
If you don't update properly to B209, when you flash any B209 rom you are going to run into issues such as the wireless Bluetooth and sim card switching for some. If you properly updated the dload method should have completed successfully. Look at the kernel and radio version of B209 in About phone and compare it to others and see if they match.

I don't want to use your rom even if you removed the Chinese it's still inside the system. Boot load times take much longer. Unexpected crashes. I did try it on 4 phones with OTA and local updates 2 are working but the Kang does crash twice a day minimum.
All what I'm asking is how to restore it to it's original settings, this was my worst mistake ever.
What I'm trying to say if I do something I do it properly just look at your thread 85% failure ratio that doesn't look like it was done properly does it ?

Really dude?? No worries, it will be the last time I do anything for the P8Max. Maybe you should just sell the phone since you're having all sorts of issues with it....or maybe you should have left it totally stock then. Or maybe read through the Mediapad X2 forums because the two phones are very similar.
Hi Folks,
I have a 703 which was stock, no root or anything custom.. I upgraded a few month ago to B205 by downloading the beta zip from here then using the update option within the phone.. This was was all done after I had a few beers.
Anyway, I want update to the the newest official rom B211 which I have downloaded from here but now I am at a loss.. I tried to search and read up but every guide I see presumes you are either rooted or have TWRP installed ? or I am simply misunderstanding what to do.
What exactly do I need to do to update ? if I do the 3 buttons with everything correct in the dload folder, its says its updating yet runs through the process within 30 seconds and never actually updates though says its complete.
Is there anyway to just simply flash on top of B205 without installing TWRP ? I had thought having the beta B205, I would have been able to update through each beta until the official release but this has not happened.. I have tried all the incremental beta updates but they dont actually seem to update my phone, though its says complete.. im still on B205.. bootloader says b211 though when I check the service menu ? confused and looking for some guidance please.
Thanks
Bracken
I picked up two Honor 6X BLN-24 models, the serial numbers are within a couple hundred of each other, so I'm assuming they're from the same batch. Right now they're both on Nougat, but one looks like it has a partial install of Nougat and the other has a "normal" install. Here's what happened:
1) The partial install phone - I unboxed it, connected it to WiFi, did a check for updates; it found the Nougat update, so I let the system update itself, rebooted, had Nougat B360. Flashed TWRP, which is working fine on the phone.
2) The "normal" install phone - instead of updating straight to Nougat, I installed TWRP first and had a bunch of issues with the wrong TWRP .img file; that's a separate issue. Got Nougat installed eventually on the phone but ended up with the "Test Keys" build issue. Ended up doing the rollback to MM, then did the check for updates, it found the Nougat update and I let it install. Phone has Nougat, build shows as B360.
Thought everything was fine and didn't really take a good look at the phones since I had to do other stuff to do before migrating to the Honors.. Now I'm ready and I'm noticing that one phone - the one that went to Nougat straight out of the box - doesn't have a bunch of apps that the second phone has, like the FM radio, CNN, Lyft, News Republic. Outside of the FM radio, I don't care about the other apps, but something else is missing - the System Update option in Settings. There may be other stuff missing, but the System Update thing is problematic.
So I figure my options are:
1) Rollback the phone that's missing things to MM, then retry the update, or
2) Try a dirty flash of the Nougat B360 update and data files.
3) Flash the smaller update_data file for the B360 build that contains most of the apps (but doesn't look like it has the FM radio)
Or is there another option?
Go with option 2. If no success then I would suggest for option 1.
Need couple of favours as you did rollback. Do you have the rollback package file? If yes, please share.
If you are rooted, use Huawei mutli tool and backup the oeminfo file. I need both these files so that if anyone messed up with their phone we will be able to revive and also address the nrd test keys issue and the best we can do is to debrand from other variant to US variant.
Thanks beforehand.
I had similar issues my phone was showing as nrd test keys and the backup of twrp also indentify phone as nrd test keys. When I checked updated update it was showing no update. My phone wassoft bricks so i download and updated package for build no b 340 and in build no it was showing nrd test key
Later i flashed zip shared in volte fix thread on xda as I was not having volte.
After flashing all thing went good test key issues resolved also so u can try that zip also.
Thanks for the replies, I'm away from the phones for a few days but will report back.
For shashank1320, the intermediate rollback package (the one that's flashed first from Nougat before the actual MM ROM) is still available on the US Honor site at http://www.hihonor.com/us/support/details/?DOC_ID=94205
You can use it if it matches with your last build no

Thanks downloading now. Yes then you can use this file for rollback.
Here's the latest update. - I tried the dirty flash method and it wouldn't work. AT ALL. I'm getting the "software failed update" at 5% message that several others have received. I downloaded the BLN-24C567B360 FullOTA package from three different sources; all had the same hash and *none* of them would work using the dload method. I ended up flashing the MM rollback package (which worked perfectly via the dload method) then flashed the MM firmware (also worked perfectly using the dload method). The phone booted into MM, it found the 2.35GB Nougat update (which is the same size of the Nougat .zips I downloaded), and it installed the update. It also installed the FM Radio (a system app) and the US package of apps that for some reason it didn't install when it upgraded to Nougat fresh out of the box.
I actually did this rollback/roll-forward twice since something odd happened while playing with SafetyNet with Magisk and the FRP Lock tripped. The next thing I know I'm getting the "data partition is corrupted" message and, again the B360 update.app files wouldn't flash. Thankfully the rollback worked. FYI, rolling back to MM relocks the bootloader. At this point I'm just keeping both the rollback and MM packages saved together on an SD card; flash rollback, pop card, rename folders on PC, pop card back in 6X, flash MM, reboot, find update, OTA to Nougat. Easier done than said, actually.
I am curious about why none of the B360 Nougat update.app files will flash on either phone. I don't think it's coincidental because the e-Recovery via WiFi doesn't find a package, and if I try System Recovery in HiSuite it says "no recovery available; take device to a Service Center".

I actually tried that. I ran into this same issue previously when I had TWRP installed, and TWRP's wipe data didn't work. Ultimately had to do the rollback to MM/roll-forward to Nougat and re-unlock the bootloader.
I can't figure out why my two phones won't flash Nougat using the dload method. The only logical reason is the upload.app file signatures, but I haven't found any alternative Nougat files for BLN-24C567B660.

It was nice to discuss about treble ROMs with you guys
I'll use here as TIP posting, mostly the basic ones.
1. Here's simple guide for magisk and stock camera.
UPDATE: add some tips about 9.0 GSI
https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-9/how-to/guides-magisk-root-8-1-stock-camera-t3816078
2. TWRP for 8.1 GSI - Magisk, Gapps and re-stock tool. (mostly it's fine with just flashing stock system.img)

no proper TWRP fro 9.0 GSI so far.
3. Use Huawei Update Extractor to extract SYSTEM, RAMDISK, RECOVERY_RAMDISK, KERNEL. don't forget to uncheck 'verify header checksum' at settings.
4. AudioFX app will break your earphon jack, so disable/unintall/delete it.
5. qemu.hw.mainkeys=1 to remove nav bar
6. /vender/usr/keylayout/fingerprint.kl to change fingerprint gesture.

phh's AOSP issue; Sound from Speaker no matter you plug earphone or not.

My earphone hardware is fine with stock one, so I guess it's sotfware issue.
Anyone have same problem? Anyone had and solved?
UPDATE: I did factory reset several times and dying earphone jack problem happens randomly.
You can't fix it without full wipe and re-install via fastboot and I don't know what's the trigger...

Since encryption one internal storage is not open yet, so there is no internal-storage-backup-capable TWRP right now.

I used TWRP from this forum, made by swiss flag man (I can't remember his name, but thread name is something like TWRP + capative fix)
you can't directly flash TWRP from 8.1 treble GSI (which will malfunction), but you can use TWRP by flash from 8.0 stock (maybe custom ROMs too) and flash GSI.

Sorry man I don't have one, but I think you might be able to backup one by yourself with TWRP or Root file explorer, those things are working fine whatever legion code is, isn't it?

There are some discussions about rebranding AL00 to AL100 to Cxxx at the thread, if I remember correctly.
If your OEMinfo is totally pooked up, you won't see AL10 either so I think you successfully rebranded your phone to AL10, at least...
I'm using L09 not AL variants, so I can't help you much but wish you good luck.
Testing ArrowOS, only rom without earphone problem, for now, to me, at least.
It has no Gapps, so I'm currently using my phone as ArrowOS + dirty flash phh's AOSP.
Also I would love to have some report about AEX 5.7 By AryanPatidar,
And my honor 9 don't boot up with Pixel Experience, which is not matching with report...

B227 for the GEM-703L was released on firmware finder. I actually flashed the update.zip in twrp and was able to flash it without an issue. Then I did a factory reset and can confirm I'm now on stock B227. I'm gonna play around with this.

It's still Android 6 unfortunately. Kernel security patch is July 2018 though. According to the changelogs it's just a security patch but may have other changes as well.

Unfortunately, no, not even on the older boot.img. Since I updated to B227 even installing KangVIP Slim double tap to wake doesn't work anymore so I would not update until I can figure this out.

Is there any further changes beside security changes? Im on a b209 stock build, and im not sure if this gonna be as easy u told for me too or not, upgrading from b112 to 209 was a disaster for me, although now i like 209 much more than that 112.
My device is gem701>gem 703 b112> gem 703 b209

I dont think so. There was firmware, for example the radio that was updated when I flashed the update.zip. You can update to B212 if you want and stay on that.
Normally one can just flash systemless SuperSU or Magisk to patch the boot.img for root but when you do that to any boot.img on the X2 you get app freezes, freezes when charging etc. The only root that works properly is system root but the kernel and boot needs to be patched to allow system root or else it won't boot. I'm not that great with boot images so I've been using the B212 boot that was patched from the HRT Team (KangVIP). If they release a B227 KangVIP or a patched boot.img then I'll start using that boot.img in my next builds.

You want the latest twrp in my twrp thread, it's the black light blue version. I would update to B212 and stay there for now or just stay on B209 if you're happy with it.

This is positive news, though I wish it was a full update.
Since I run TWRP I probably won't get Updater notification for it.
Please use the QUOTE feature when replying to me to get my attention. Thanks!

I'll make a stock B227 rom with google apps if you want so you can just flash it in TWRP.

Here you go. Stock B227 Rooted, Lightly Debloated with Google Apps. I left in the stock Chinese Music Player. Kernel is from B212 so root will work. EMUI version is 4.0.3. Double tap to wake does not work in B227. I enabled it but it doesn't work. Why Huawei keeps removing features like that is a mystery to me.

installed this through twrp flash, works fine, multi screen not working, i think hivoice is good to be removed, it doesnt show network type on top of anthena bars, cant tell if it's 2g,3g or 4g! google related apps are not working properly, that is cant sign in using any google account using google apps, phone seems to be slower than normal and maybe a little battery drain(not sure)

Do a wipe and flash again, the Google apps are working fine for me. I will release another build tonight with working multi screen and all of the hivoice stuff removed and removal of the Chinese text on the lockscreen photos. I was tied last night and needed some sleep.

All of a sudden Google related apps started working! Without wiping or anything, however there is a problem with Gboard, when want to open its preference it crashes and comes out, can't add more languages to keyboard, and when I try to install it from play store it downloads and installs but at the end it doesn't install at all

When you first sign in you have to wait a minute to let Google play services update. Then it works fine. I'll include the newest play services.
