I'm having a major issue with the Messaging system on my Xperia XZ. It's basically freezing up when I try to send a message. It's been like this for 2 weeks. I can still usually get a message through it's just really frustrating. I have to wait until Android force-closes Messaging, re-open it and delete the message thread and start a new message every time. It's getting really annoying.
I've tried pretty much everything. Disabled and re-enabled Messaging (which actually made Messaging disappear from my phone). Installed a different keyboard. Tried without an SD card. As a final solution, last night I backed up my settings and did a full system reset. What's strange is it seemed to work fine after that. That is until Xperia updated all the apps and settings. Then it went back to freezing. It's almost like there's a "built-in" bug with one of the updates.
I've been on the phone with Xperia support and they have no idea what's wrong.
Uninstall chrome updates with the playstore.
I don't know why but it works for me.
OMG bro I have this issue too. I delete every message before rewrite...
Xperia XZ messaging freezes
I have the same issue since yesterday.
Messaging app freezing every time when I open any normal conversation first. This is odd, but when I open any spam message from mobile network operator, and then normal conversation everything works until I close messaging app.
I have tried to cleanup app memory and cache, disable and enable it, phone reboot, deleted all conversations, and nothing helps

Try message app from .35
Also found the root cause by freezing my apps one by one
btw chrome beta is working fine
Maybe next chrome update will fix this issue.
Me too
Iam having this problem too. Sorry but could you possibly let me know how I disable the updates please? What do I go into to do it?
Thanks

Thanks man, it works me too! But what the f..ck is the link between Chrome and Messages app? Very interesting...
Lol.
So I have a crazy problem.
Messaging app seems somehow corrupted
It freezes and asks to force close in most threads.
The message list is fine, the problem starts when I enter messages
However there is no clear pattern since some work...
Rebooting, clearing data doesn't work...
So it's related to Chrome?????

The reason is described by @twistedddx in XperiaXZ updates topic:
How will likely be webview implementation as that is set to chrome stable if installed.
A Chrome update could potentially break any app using webview.
You could roll back Chrome stable or install Chrome beta or nightly and set that under dev settings, if a Chrome update is the problem.

It makes sense because not only messaging app is broken by Chrome updates. Also "Quizwanie" - PL version of quizz app doesn't work if Chrome is updated to latest version

Edit:
No. Still the same.
My Messenger app just stopped working a few days ago (tried to reply and no keyboard appeared and then froze). I read somewhere to replace the Sony messaging app with Google Messages (on the app store). Inexplicably, it works.
Thanks so much, I was having the exact same trouble on my brand new phone and your instructions fixed it instantly !

Thanks for this!
I just made some minor adjustments including adding a few new language filters. Currently here is the breakdown of languages:
English: 130,886 apps
Chinese: 2,099 apps
Japanese: 1,433 apps
Korean: 1,249 apps
French: 808 apps
Spanish: 800 apps
German: 708 apps
The language is determined by running a language detection API against the app descriptions and titles. As far as I know this is the only app that lets you subscribe to apps by language.

confused on how to use this app?
I need some help understanding what this is, what it does, and how to use it.
Is it a second marketplace that is intended to replace the google marketplace?
If yes then I take it to mean that this app's intended use to to search, download, install, and maintain the apps on your phone?
Is this app intended to be used in conjunction with the google marketplace?
If yes then in what ways: searching, sorting, etc?
Is information shared between this app and the google marketplace? For exmaple if you can download apps from this app then do the downloaded apps also show up as being downloaded in the google marketplace?
The above are some of the questions I was thinking but if when replying you can think of other useful advice and info you want to share in how to use the app that would be appreciated.

Yes this can replace the market in terms of finding new apps. The point of this is to find good, new apps and closely monitor the market. It provides more advanced filters to find specifically what you want. It doesn't scan your apps and offer suggestions. That isn't the goal of this app.

Sorry, I missed the update to your post. The app actually sends you to the market when you choose an app, so yes the downloads count. This app only replaces the searching and browsing process. No data is shared between the two apps.

I was wondering if I could get some feedback on the name of this app. It's a different concept so I had a hard time coming up with a descriptive name. Some other ideas I had were Hawkee App Subscribe, Hawkee Market Subscribe, Hawkee App Monitor, or Hawkee Market Monitor.

Once i installed this app i cannot access the "downloads" section in my regular market. it either says theres no connection, or it force closes. Ive tried uninstalling Hawkee, wiping market data, uninstalling/reinstalling regular market, rebooting.....nothing is fixing this problem, which is obviously a major one

This seems to be unrelated. Did you recently upgrade your market app? This app doesn't have any connection with the market app. It only sends you there when you pick an app.

Nope my last market update was last week. i was browsing my downloads earlier today to check for application updates which i normally do.
i understand that you want to preserve the reputation of your app, and i can respect that. however it seems like a distinct possibility that this app caused this problem. earlier in this thread another poster claimed that this app had an effect on his market, as well.
this is not a personal attack, and there obviously is a chance that both of these incidences are coincidence. but it doesnt sound like it. you may want to look into it, since this app is now public on the forum, youd definitely rather have 2 complaints than several. just a little advice, it doesnt hurt to check, rather than simply sweeping it under the rug.
all i know and can say, aside from i love the idea of your app, ever since installing my market has been malfunctioning, even after a system install/uninstall.
TopShelf, Thanks for the response. I'm sorry to sound like I was so easily dismissing your problem, but I'm on my laptop now and can look into this more thoroughly. I researched the issue you described and came up with this thread:
http://www.google.fm/support/forum/p/Android+Market/thread?tid=5f475fcdfcc22233&hl=en
The conclusion seems to be that it's a problem on Google's end. People were pointing out a few apps that, when uninstalled, fixed the problem temporarily. But it seems there is no permanent fix yet. Some people suggested installing AppBrain in order to update your apps, but that's certainly not a long term solution.

Hi all today I present you with NOT LAST SEEN for Whatsapp
In no way did I develop or create this app I am simply Just Sharing with you guys.
At last, you can hide the Whatsapp "Last seen" message! You will be able to use Whatsapp at any time and anyone will know it!
Thanks to this application no one will be able to see the last time you have used Whatsapp. However... You will be able to see your friends "Last seen"!
Enter to whatsapp as usually, block process is automatic. you don't have to enter to any application to block your last seen.
Important: While you are in Whatsapp you don’t received messages and you can write them but they won’t be send. When you leave Whatsapp or turn off the screen, your written messages will be send and your pending ones will be received.
The changes done to config Mobile Data are only notified when done from Android default menu.
Please use Android default menu to turn on/off Mobile Data(Settings->Data usage) while "Last Seen" are blocking, don't use widget or shortcut.
How does it work? When you are in whatsapp, automatically, your network is disabled to block "last seen" notification. Once out of Whatsapp(or turn off screen), automatically, your network is restored to the previous state.
You can see your friends "Last seen" while this application is enabled, just open the conversation of your friend, press home button, wait for some seconds and open whatsapp again!
No ROOT needed.

Isn't there a way to modify the apk file of whatsapp if your rooted to take this setting away?
Hi,
After I reflashed android ROM to stock 4.3, rooted, restored my apps with TiBackup (done that process thousands of times) something strange happened.
Now from time to time file Mobogenie_1501.apk downloads by itself. I didn't open it (just in case). I delete it from downloads folder and after a day it downloads again (I can see that in notifications).
I didn't install anything unusuall except http://download.chainfire.eu/351/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.65.zip. Everything else - the stuff from Google Play I used for ages.
What is this Mobogenie_1501.apk?

Same problem here guys, seems to happen with any website randomly. Seems like some kinda adware/malware unrelated to the actual mobogenie. Can't recall doing anything in particular that I can pin down to when this started, then again I'm always fiddling... I just delete it every time it downloads. Would really like to get this cleared up. Don't mind trying to figure it out myself, but don't know where to start. Would welcome suggestions.

if you a have avast try run a full scan, to see what it detects, you can also install other apps to see what they detect ( had a similar problem ( always getting full screen ads) some time back which was related to candy crush app. and yes sig is mine , half related to android and the other half documentaries.

Take a look on spidersweb.pl - but not on main pages or archives but on single pages. On mobile devices ads have display:none, so you won't see them. Still the download prompt should appear after some tries.
Also xda uses google ads and someone wrote that he got this prompt here.

Going to refresh and maybe try a few more pages on xda - got nothing on spidersweb.pl even after a few refreshes on individual posts. Took a screenshot, but it's not uploading :/

Candy crush? This is the app I installed recently. And this is the only thing I did differently than normally.
Lets try to uninstall it.
Any luck? I don't have candy crush or any other apps from King . com as listed on Google play.

I cleared all caches (all apps cache, cache partition and dalvik) and so far had got no download prompt for it. Not sure this is actually related but may work. I think it wont hurt trying for yourselves and giving feedback here.
Edit: Nevermind. Just got it again while browsing android police through Flipboard. Looks like something sniffing the network or some kind of push service.
Did any of you notice of it happened on 3G or only Wi-Fi??
Edit 2: Happens on both.

Im on emui 12 whit GMs working like a charm
I'm from Lithuania, still 11.0.0.230...
I got EMUI 12.
It brings no significant improvements in terms of performance or battery.
Just some cheap visual embellishments. All rubbish.
And a HUGE annoyance: the "Control Panel" - replacing let swiping down where notifications used to be. I hate this!
I want to disable it! I couldn't find out how.
Please help.
I have just updated to emui 12, and I run GMS with icebox and I now am able to use the play store, even tho framework is frozen - which is great! Does anyone else have this experience?

How can one "freeze" GSF ? Please explain the method. I realized that the main pb with Google issues is that GSF app that is uncontrollable.
GSF is toxic, no-one knows what is actually doing in background, cannot be controlled, stopped or prevented to change, update. This renders the entire Google stack unstable.

It is up to you.
Use this app on your computer. Search the app and disable it. After that it will be present on disabled list, in case you want to enable it back. When you enable it, play protect error will be present. Also when it is disabled, Play Store should not work.

Thanks. Q: can this app prevent GFS to update itself ?
I never find GSF updated. Play Store is responsible to update apps. And usually it updates Google Play Services, not Google Services framework.
It hasn't replace notifications swipe down. Control panel is swipe down on the right and notifications is swipe down on the left, but also once you swipe down you can swipe left and right to switch between notifications and control panel.
That said I find it annoying

I understand, so the Google Play Services (GPS) is the culprit then.
I re-phrase: is it possible, using the app you suggested above, to prevent GPS to update itself, without prevent it from running (stopping it) ?
I noticed the Google stack will fail also if GPS is stopped/disabled.
Moreover, why did you suggest in the first instance to "freeze" GSF and not GPS ?
Could you be more coherent please with your replies ?
Tx.

I think I am coherent with my replies. I just reply. I never suggested to freeze any of the Google apps. It was just a replay to @carbonmanx . With that app you can try to disable any apps you want.
Pay more attention, keep the line of discussion and you will find the coherence of my answers, please.

And where is that coherence ? Where are the replies?
You did not reply to any of my questions:
1. can this app prevent GFS to update itself ?
2. I re-phrase: is it possible, using the app you suggested above, to prevent GPS to update itself, without prevent it from running (stopping it) ?
3. Moreover, why did you suggest in the first instance to "freeze" GSF and not GPS ?
Of course you are not obliged, it's just a forum.
But please don't pretend it.
Cheers.

1. No. Because GSF is not responsible to update itself. It never was and it will never be.
2. No. Because GPS is not responsible to update itself. It never was and it will never be.
3. Where do you see my suggestion to freeze any app? Read this message again, first the quote part.
Bonus:
1. Google Play Store updates in background all other apps.
2. It is used freeze and not disable, because Ice Box app has been used first time to disable Google Services Framework and gain notifications. Just FYI.

Right! The big issue is that nobody knows how to disable this bloody CP.
On Xiaomi devices (w/ MIUI) it is possible to disable this: https://www.webcazine.com/forums/faq-can-you-disable-the-control-center-in-xiaomi-miui-12/

If I copy something and then I open Google or other apps that support pasting from clipboard, I get a toast notification like the above.
I don't know where Google or the other apps paste what's on my clipboard.
This started recently.
How to stop this from happening?
Which phone/OS version?
Turning off Google play Services may stop it.
Any recent updates/upgrades?
Possible malware...

The mighty Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra .
There is no option to turn OFF Google Play Services (button is greyed out).
Received couple of Google Play System updates yesterday. I'm not 100% sure if this started after that though.
I don't think it is malware. But surely a bug.
I don't want to clear my clipboard history (which is possible using Samsung keyboard). And I don't think doing that will fix the problem either.

You're welcome. It's a security risk to let them pile up. The storage is limited to a finite number of items anyway.

Try clearing the system cache.
Unfortunately android is so finicky the only options I would recommend is to do a full wipe and see if the issue remains. If it does, it is most likely another stupid android quirk (like notifcations unlocking your phone when the screen lock type is set to "none"), and the only permanent fix is to not use any google/samsung apps, keyboards, etc. because they all stink

If you have done a major firmware upgrade without doing a factory reset... it's time to.
If you used SmartSwitch that may be the problem. Again, factory reset.
Now you know one reason I don't upgrade or update the firmware.

You could do a full Nandroid backup which you can revert in case resetting did not fix the problem. Then troubleshoot by resetting to determine if this issue is an actual bug or not. If it is indeed a bug then good luck and hopefully your backup restores properly so you dont have to redo everything.
What Is A Nandroid Backup and How Exactly Does It Work?
You need that backup at the ready.

My device is fully stock.
It was only Google app that was doing this. The only other app that was doing it as mentioned in OP was my clipboard app. I have corrected the OP to reflect this fact.
I deleted the app data for Google app. Now I'm not getting the toast notification as before. Hopefully this has fixed the problem.
If I search on the internet, there are articles on this already from earlier, and the only solution so far seems to be to block those specific apps from accessing the clipboard. But that would require ADB, which is far from ideal.
NOTE
By removing this permission from an app, you can no longer use the "paste" feature while inputting text within that app. This shouldn't be a problem for apps like games, but it may cause an inconvenience for other apps.
Users should have the choice under Settings to decide which apps can access clipboard.
Ideally, no app should be allowed access, except for dedicated clipboard apps themselves.
ADB method
Why do apps paste from my clipboard as soon I open them (without manually pasting anything)?
I have a Google Pixel 5a running the latest version of Android 12 (I updated a couple of days after I bought it, so I didn't use Android 11 much if at all). I noticed that a lot of apps trigger the...
