WiFi dropping connection. - Sony Xperia XZ Premium Questions & Answers

Good evening everyone. I have noticed my premium randomly drops WiFi signal then picks back up. I have factory reset my router and phone. Still happening. I did see some posts online but I figured I'd ask the pros. Thanks

[Q] Wifi-calling stuck 'ON' when losing wifi connection

When wifi and wifi-calling are enabled, it disconnects from the tmo network.. Great.. no problemo. I don't want it connected to the tmo network at the same time.
But.. when I lose the wifi.. i.e. service is interrupted, I leave the area, etc., then wifi-calling is stuck "ON" and I cannot return to the tmo network because the app is trying to find the wi-fi connection. This causes all voice/data to be dead.
I have tried killing the wifi-calling app via ATK, it won't shut down. I tried to FC it, no go. I tried to reboot the phone.. no go. I tried to kill it via Watchdog.. no go.
So basically, if I forget to shut off the app b4 I leave my wifi area, I'm screwed and dead in the water. Or, if the wifi connection is lost (i.e. service interruption), I'm screwed.
The only way wifi-calling will display the on/off button is when it has a wifi connection.. I know, I know.. I must force myself to remember to shut the stupid app off before leaving the local network.. but I forget at times.
I have only found 1 work around, and I'm hoping someone else can chime in on this. I'd like to see if there is an easier way around this.. It can be fixed via freezing the app. Then the tmo network kicks in. As soon as the app is unfrozen, it goes back to searching out wifi and disabling all voice/data.. until I get a wifi connection.
Thoughts?
can someone test this to see if they get the same results?
Mine switches as it should when I leave a wifi area.

Seriously? You have wifi calling and wifi enabled. You shut off wifi and it automatically switches off wifi calling?
that's messed up. If I do that, I'm w/o service. Guess I'll reinstall the app..

Thanks!!! I have discussed this on the forums a bunch of times in misc. conversations and no one has said "Hey, that's not the case for mine." I thought it was a glitch with the app.
R&R'd the app.. good to go. Thanks so much.. It's been like this since I took it out of the box.

Wifi Problem in Sleep Mode

Hello,
when I lock my screen and the phone goes in sleep mode I don't receive whatsapp messages anymore. I have to unlock my phone and open whatsapp and go in the chat to receive. It's really annoying.
Does anyone else have this problem or even found a solution?
Thanks!
My settings are:
Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep: Always
Wi-Fi optimisation (Minimise battery usage when Wi-Fi is on) is disabled

It was fine before and it just happened out of the blue?
I have not had this problem.
Have you tried changing your WiFi settings to see if it does anything?
Maybe wipe whatsapp cache?
Not that it'll help your issue, but you definitely want to leave the Wifi Optimization option on. It will absolutely devour your battery otherwise.

I had this problem ever since I had the phone. I didn't have this problem with the phone I had before, the HTC Sensation. What do you exactly mean with changing WiFi settings? The settings in my phone or my router?

Wifi Won't Go Off !

Hi Folks,
I can't get my Wifi to switch off when the phone goes to sleep. I've gone into advanced and changed the 'keep wifi on during sleep' to never. I also have turned off 'Scanning always available' so apps can't scan but it STILL won't go off when the phone is asleep!! I rarely use my data allowance with my contract so my 3G is always off and I would like my wifi off when I'm not using the phone aswell but just can't get it to go off
Any help appreciated, thanks in advance
Change it to
Keep WiFi of during sleep=always
And
Tick off =scanning always available.
Your Wi-Fi should switch off during screen lock. Don't expect it to turn off immediately though.

As I said in my post it says 'Keep wifi ON during sleep' not OFF ......and I have it set to never which is correct.
Hmmm u r right it says on. What i observed is it takes a bit of time to go off to make sure user is not going to use it soon.

[Q] WiFi turning off when device is sleeping

My WiFi is intermittently disconnecting when my device is asleep. I wake it up and the WiFi is often 'disconnected', but connects automatically once it's awake.
When I wake my phone, there's no WiFi connection and there's a little '?' next to the mobile signal icon - but when I wake it up, the WiFi connects and the '?' on the mobile signal disappeared.
'Keep WiFi on during the sleep' is toggled to 'always', so I really can't understand why it's doing this.
I've had Lollipop for about a month now, but it's only started happening today. I've 'forgot' the network, restarted the device and reconnected, but it's still dropping out when my phone's asleep.
Cheers
Have you installed any power management Apps recently?
goto to settings>WiFi click menu>advanced. check if the option keep WiFi on during sleep is set to always.

I am actually having this same problem. Never happened with KitKat but lollipop I notice it. Also have WiFi set to "always" bit still doesn't work.

Did you manage to find a solution to this?
If rooted, and using Titanium backup, avoid backing up the wifi settings. Just touching the two files with TiB, breaks wifi connectivity.
Search Google on how to actually setup TiB for this.

No I have not. Seems to do it in various roms. Weird.
Are you on the 5.1.1 radio? Mine has been doing this ever since updating. It has done it on stock 5.1.1, CM CAF 12.1, and the M Dev Preview.
Did Anybody fund a solution to this? My Nexus 6 turns WiFi off almost every time the device sleeps. Ive checked and Keep WiFi on is set to ALWAYS

I've been having this issue as well. I've contacted google and they've sent me three replacements. Same issue on all of them.
I thought it could be my router, but this isn't happening to any of my other 8 devices. I also see this problem when I'm on different Wifi in different locations. They're getting a specialist to look into my case now
Me also facing issue, I thought it was the Franco or lean droid app that I use to disable network signal when screen is off
Same issue in Marshmallow
Well ever since i updated to Marshmallow i am facing this on my N5.
First i thought its because defult battery optimization that comes with this. So i removed "Google connectivity service" from optimization but it din't help.
"Keep wifi on during sleep" flag is set to 'always' as you guys..
Can't say bug or feature but its annoying..
Anyone has solutions?

Question Anyone having s23+ wifi issues?

My galaxy s23+ is not connecting to my router's 5 ghz band.. tried every router. I noticed after i reseted the phone, it connects easily to my home wifi 5ghz band when i restart my phone. Then if i go outside and use another wifi then come home and try to connect the 5ghz band. It doesn't connect until i restart the phone. While phones from realme or redmi don't have any of this kind of problem. Its simply a wifi issue. Does anyone have a solution? Its frustrating to restart the phone everytime i come home. I even searched google but there are no fix.
Try putting it into airplane instead of a reboot, toggle off/on.
Clear system cache.

Don't go to the service centre. They are usually a bunch of jokers.
Have you tried 'Reset Network Settings'?

You might as well do a factory reset too if the network reset fails. The service center will do that anyway if set in for repairs...
I am seeing a similar problem. Sometimes my phone doesn't load anything. Turning off wifi and connecting again helps. Another thing I noticed is that when I switch rooms my older oneplus 8T would connect seamlessly to a strong wifi within the house. S23+ isn't doing that. Suddenly video will buffer and I see that it's connected to wifi that has low coverage in that room and then I have to turn off/on or manually connect to the correct wifi

You have to enable Intelligent WiFi to have the network switched automatically.
You have 2 WiFi at home?

'Intelligent WiFi' is already enabled. I have a wifi extender that has a different wifi name because I made a typo while setting it up. OP8T used to connect between the extender and the main wifi smoothly but with s23+ I have to intervene
