Hi all, wondering if anyone's had success editing their /system/build.prop, then unrooting (either by flashing a clean boot partition or using the menu option in SuperSU) - and having their build.prop changes stick?
Just looking for some information on whether I'm doing something wrong, or if this is a new security feature and I should stop trying
I should mention I'm using the latest Nougat, 7.1.2 sailfish-njh47f. The goal is to enable tethering and unroot for peace of mind. Thanks!
Bump everyone, im interested in this too. Haa someone done this? Btw, im on s8 but makes no difference whatsoever.
Someone?

as far as mods go, this is from the stock firmware so any mods that are being made for the new nexus 7 should work fine (for example the advanced power menu that i added). that goes for kernels too, those are device specific, not rom specific

Xposed works on 4.3. You have to install 2.1.4 then flash a zip in recovery.
I'm not sure if you just missed them or what, but some of the Google apps you said you had removed are still in the zip. Currents, Earth, Ears, Games, and then I stopped looking. It's not a big deal, I'm removing them from the downloaded zip, but I wanted to let you know!
And in advance, thanks for the ROM.

Awesome, I'll wait before flashing then (yeah...I'm a serial procrastinator...). Am I right to assume the next version is going to have the new multitouch fix baked in?

well this is based on the released firmware, if there is a patch out there for that, i will see if i can get it included, otherwise i will wait for the next firmware update which will probably have it in there.
no my next release would be a couple of mods im working on, which in reality can be zip files to flash so you wont need to reinstall or reflash the whole thing, but will also be added to the rom as well for anyone who has not tried this one yet

Gotcha. Well, the update is included in the latest factory images, so if you're using that, it should be good.

Hi,

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2398836 <- You may want to check out the kernel thread. I wouldn't expect anyone to have it ready for a while. There are still a few bigger issues to resolve.
...I also think this thread might be a bit misleading since it's looking for and not offering the cifs.ko but whatever.

When you go to edit the first post, choose advanced editor. It lets you change it from there. I'm sure once we can get kernels building, getting a module will be swift.

Here is the link for Dolby Atmos file http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3109446
Works great on my H955.
How I installed it.
Download the file. Then use flashfire to flash the zip file, while you wait for this to install make a coffee and a sandwich and hopefully when you return it'll have installed.
Again this is not my work I'm just sharing the link!
P.S. Don't forget to thank worstenbrood for their hard work.
How do you get 2nd screen? I can't find Dolby Atmos as an app.
Did you overwrite folders?
Yes just over write. You should see the Dolby Atmos app in with the rest of your apps.
Then I did something wrong, will try once more.
Hahaha, now stuck here. I will go trought the mean thread to take a look. Thanks anyway.
I've seen the reply, its odd as i literally only copied the files into my root system and it works perfectly for me? Did you have any other sound mods installed? Such as Viper.
@francescrm All i could suggest is try it with flashfire I might have used that and forgot. I mess about doing all sorts toy phone my system folder must be a right mess ?
In fact, it wasn't a polite reply but i presume that he is sick of answering stupid questions in that thread. I will take a look about flashfire, only used for xposed installation. No Mods for sound.

Yes, it did!! Thanks again.
And thank you for pointing out i messed up with install guide ? fixed it now, as i said I'm always messing around and i must have forgot i used flashfire to install it, thanks @francescrm
Coffee and sandwich, hahaha. First time i used FlashFire i almost had a hard attack [emoji51] [emoji51] [emoji51]

What firmware do you have? And you know that you must use Flashfire v0.24? @englishmale please add this note to first post

So flash zip using Flashfire v0.24, not the newest one and it should be OK, on my phone it always solve the problem.

I had them uploaded to a site that evidently doesn't keep them there for too long.
Just plain ole stock Verizon system right? I'm not a dev, was just curious.
Edit: I see now I wouldn't know where to begin with this.

Sorry just now saw your post.
It's very near stock. I did make a few minor changes before making these but it's very very close to stock. I had installed google assistant which changed the build prop phone model to the Pixel and I had uninstalled all the 360 wallpapers and I think that's about it.
You are amazing
I am not a Dev (I wish I had the know how...I can do a couple things....but nothing of significance) but I can already see this coming in handy for my fiance...which means it'll come in handy for me ultimately lol :fingers-crossed:

From what I understand, new updates to Whatsapp broke theming and it can't be fixed. Heard 2 different themers say this. Go back to an old Whatsapp version if you want it themed.
Experienced the same, think I'm gonna roll back for now

Pretty sure it was from the very latest update, or maybe second to last.....?! Haven't got round to uninstalling/reinstalling the older apk, will try it soon. Kinda making do for now lol
Ahhhhh, so that's what happened to WhatsApp. I was wondering why it got so ugly, lmao.
If you use LSPosed, you can use a module to downgrade your APK without uninstalling. I use XDowngrader. Going to downgrade now and see what happens.
Edit: The last version that theming works correctly on currently is 2.22.22.80. I've linked the text to APKMirror.

Thank you very much for taking the time to share not only a method to downgrade but also the last working version! Much appreciated. I'm now back to black too - soooo much better
Update: used a combination of Detach & also Mindetach magisk modules to hide WhatsApp from the Play Store wanting to update
Further update: seems neither of these detaching methods are working for me. If anyone can suggest any that are working, please let me know!
