GPS Fix for Mi 4c - Xiaomi Mi 4C

Here is a blog (in Russian) which has a working solution for fixing the GPS. It requires some minimal skill and patience since it's mechanical but my device got a lock on location in less then a minute afterwards.

Great, I'll try it today.
EDIT: had no effect
EDIT2: worked actually, thanks a lot!

[PROB] TouchPro GPS lag problems

A lot of people have problems with the TouchPro GPS especially for pedestrian use...
From stock the TP GPS is quite unsable in car especially with TomTom 7 and totally unusable for pedestrian use.
After 2 weeks of reading and testing tweaks, here are the results of my tests and the applied tweaks to enhance the GPS performance
A. With Advanced config 3.2 http://www.touchxperience.com/fr/ou...ads/9-advanced-configuration-tool-32-cab.html
1. disable A-GPS
2. disable GPS logging
3. logfile name must be empty
4. old logfile name must be empty
5. maximum size of logfile must be 0
6 delete the files : \windows\GPSLogFile.txt and \windows\GPSLogFileBack.txt
7. it seems that if TomTom is installed on a fast microSD decrease the lag(have to test to be sure)
With those changes car usage will be quite perfect
B. Then edit registry with TotalCommander http://ghisler.fileburst.com/ce/tcmdpocketarm.cab
Under: HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\GPS Intermediate Driver\
- Drivers\GpsOneDevice\PollInterval -> 100 (default is 1000)
- Drivers\InputBufferSize -> 512 (default is 4096)
- Drivers\OutputBufferSize -> 512 (default is 4096)
- Drivers\SleepOnNoData -> 100 (default is 1000)
- Multiplexer\MaxBufferSize -> 512 (by default not present, you have to create it)
Tests to be done with buffers at 256...seems to be a little better
Tests to be done with other PollInterval value...seems to "drain" battery
With those tweaks pedestrian usage will be much better but not perfect...I explain.
You have to walk for a least 250m in order to have a reposition with mouvement on the map (before that, speed is always 0km/h) and then if you continue to walk there is quite no lag...and the speed reflect reality
...BUT if you stops you have to walk again for a least 250m in order to have a reposition with mouvement on the map and then if you continue to walk there is quite no lag...
Very strange indeed...
I hope this will help people...please test and feedback.
PS : tests were done with

I noticed GPS problems yesterday with Route66. Havent have time to test GPS lot before, just checked that it can find satellites and really works with Route66.
First while driving, Route66 got fix to satellite pretty quickly, but drop it then after couple seconds. Then couple secods of lag, again found satellites, couple seconds ok, drops again. This keeps going over no matter what, moving or staying stopped.
I then did soft-reset, no help. Then tried Google Maps with GPS, that worked no prob. After using Google Maps I returned to Route66 and strangely satellite fix was ok...
This might be just random satellite fix problem, but strange enough

Many of us have/had that issue so I can confirm you Its a device issue, not a satellite situation. The registry tweaks minimize that problem but I hope HTC solves the problem in his next driver/radio rom/... and the users hasnt to tweak their devices (95% of the users probably will never read this forum and they dont know how to "tweak" their devices
Thanks for sharing. I 'll check it.
Thank you!
I applied all the patches, my TP still doesn't want to find the sattelites...
F.....g hell!!! I tried anything, and morning I've got a fix with 5 satellites in 20secs,so it looks nice(yesterday evening I did the tweaks). But after 4 hours it can see 1-2 satellites, sometimes 3,very rarely 4 under blue sky. So 2 hours of my travelling from city-to-city I didn't get a fix! Co do pici s tym je!!??(sorry for slovak lng,but I cannot speak it english, because so wrong words english language doesn't have). I bought an useless technology and HTC is rolling on the floor laughing, how the customer is stupid. F..k them all with their technologies. Another thing is wifi...no comment is better. I will maybe buy an crazy Eten with Sirf3 and HTC with their stupid Qualcomm can go to hell. For what are all the technologies here, when they are working <20% of time? I am so angry on HTC,so when my kind of device will appear,I will immediately sell the Raph.

1. Hard reset
2. Applied the tweaks
3. Download last QuickGPS

Did all that and the bloody phone is still not getting a fix on satellites...
I am confused in other way...
Why it does lock the satellites in 30seconds and it sees 8 sats.and few hours after it has problem with seeing 3 of them at the same place with same weather conditions? I believe, that tomorrow(when I will not needed to have the fix, anyway I will try it) will fix the satellites ASAP. Do the Raphael have a status-sensor,that knows,if I need it right now or not? That's my opinion, while it doesn't work, when I need it and works when I testing it...
I will s..t on whole GPS technology and I will trust the plain maps as before(unfortunately, that costs me some money/energy that I spend for that).
Totally amazing
This is just amazing. Thank you!
Now I get a fix in 10-15 seconds. Earlier it took several minutes... totally amazing...

tried this also and been driving around for almost an hour without results is that enough patience?
hmm, my gps was working normally, applied these patches and nothing changed..still working normally (no lags etc.)
Applied all the patches except one (I kept A-GPS on), and after testing with iGo it's working like a charm. With the latest QuickGPS data downloaded, it can still take - seconds to get a fix, but the positioning is accurate (no more 100-200m lag), the devices sees 4-6 satellites in the Belgian sky, and the navigation is finally usable on the Touch Pro. I'll make regular checks in the coming days and I'll report the results. Thanks for the tweaks!
With A-GPS enabled the GPS works great. I had it in my pocket with GPS tuner running while running in a forrest and he didn't lose my position and no lag. The problem: with A-GPS enabled TT7 loses the fix every second. Like 1 sec there is a fix, next there is not. And it keeps doing that. When I disable A-GPS it takes way longer to get a fix with TT7 but it holds the fix.
Tip: driving around makes it harder for the gps to get a fix.
gps problem
hi, i recently bought htc touch pro & i am facing problem to download gps on my phone could someone help me regarding this matter step by step.
thankx

GPS fix confirmed and then some!

I know we are all hit and miss with the GPS, but after following a couple of tips out there GPS locks on Google Maps in 10-15 seconds, finally! And it tracks beautifully as well. These are older tips, but it is this combo that seems to work wonders!
I followed this...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=427888
(but change dPollInterval to 500 and MAxBufferSize at 256)
and...
GPS hardware settings:
Prgram port is COM4, no hardware port, and baud rate is 4800. I could not find the website that I got this info from so forgive me for not crediting you!
Google Maps is configured to let Windows manage my GPS.
After the GPS is "warm" it tracks in what relatively feels like an instant now! And it might just be me but it seems to find more satellites. I have a Fuze on ATT.
theres a bajillion fixes on here for gps. its just gonna have different results. easy thing to do is update radio to 1.12. though if you do that, dont change the poll interval from 1000 to 500. i found thats a bad thing in combination with it.
download the at&t test rom......fixed my GPS issues. Now I get a lock within 10 seconds.
the link above method works best when deltete gps log files and disable agps and using gps test software

Where may I find this ROM?
hmm
I must say . The updated rom from htc for the fuze pretty much fixed my gps (and made performance of the phone much better).

[Q] Weak GPS signal, long satellite search [SOLVED]

Problem solved. Fix: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=25128818&postcount=15
-----
It is as the title says. Actually I am a huge fan of Endomondo app and running, skating activities, that's why this feature is very important for me.
I have a Desire S on MIUI 2.3.16 rom, flashed radios aswell. Usually it takes approximately 50 seconds to find satellites, sometimes it can't even find anything at all. It's so annoying! Had no problems on stock HTC rom.
So far I have tried this fix, but results are the same: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1493695
Any exits?
Try this thread instead - as it is for the Desire S;--

But read it fully first
Okay, I have tried this method.
First of all I started to managing how to replace that gps.conf (located in /system/etc) from custom one to original, but it does not allow me to copy & paste there. Nevermind...
Then I installed zip from sdcard via Clockwork Recovery. Switched off my Desire S and removed battery for 1 min, just by time, then assebled it back and switched on. Turned GPS on and entered for ex. Endomondo app, yes it really showed "GPS o.k" after 2 seconds of sattelite search!! Before it was those 50+ seconds. Well, I was happy and sure that everything went fine and now I have superfast GPS responce. But not so fast! I did a trip for few km's and the app counted no kilometers at all! Then I entered Google MAPS app and GPS could not be able to show my position. But at the same time GPS icon on notification bar was not blinking anymore saying that device is searching GPS sattelites. Why so?
Are my GPS settings ok? (my location is Europe, Latvia)

try the free application FASTER FIX that assisted me.
Faster Fix works for some people, but all it does is changes the one line in the gps.conf file to reflect the local NTP server for your region. My understanding is that makes very little difference in most situations, but some people certainly do gain from it.
The AGPS fix has seemed to be much better - it actually tunes the whole GPS setup. I used the "Google Specific No-SSL v3.1 build" and it made a massive difference to my GPS system. I also installed "GPS Status & Toolbox" from the market and use that to reset my AGPS data and then download AGPS data as well. This seems to need doing from time to time (I do it every day) just to keep it fully in sync.
Like most fixes, different people experience different results - but looking at the thread and the information that way seems to be the most reliable.
Also, if you use any form of AGPS fix then make sure you uninstall Faster Fix as it will attempt to overwrite the changes if you run it.
I also recommend Fasterfix download it via Market.
Hello gentlemans,
Looks like my HTC Desire S GPS has totally stopped working! Nothing helps, even flashing from MIUI or Cyanogenmod to Reaper etc. I have a feeling it might be a hardware problem, because I have faulty dropped it, not hard, but still. Does DS have GPS module flex cable? If yes, it might be loosen, if it really is there. Any ideas?
I think i have read somewhere on forum that GPS antenna is in top back plastic cover of DS (where the camera and flash are). It's connected via sliders like WiFi antenna on battery cover. If you dropped your pet "head first" it maybe loosen the contact...
Don't know if this helps you, but i wrote it anyways
Hope you fix it! Good luck!

Did you wipe everything before flashing? I had same problem with internet access with different ROMs until I made full wipe and now all works fine.
Search the older posts. I wrote once: the problem might be HW. Your GPS antenna contacts might be bad. If no SW fixes help you - look it up.
I have disassemble my phone. But maybe somebody could say me corectlly where GPS module/antena is located in HTC Desire S?
GUYS!!
I have just noticed that GPS signal improves a lot when I take back cover off. It even connects to satellite while with cover phone sees 2 satellites max and does not connects after multiple tryings.
Finally, GPS works great! I simple applied 2 layers of double side tape on contact to isolate it from back cover. Now everything works fine. Few months of managing and works great, I didn't notice such changes before.
Another contact stays for signal receiving.

Hey, that's a neat trick man... how'd you figure out which is the GPS antenna and which on is the mobile one? Kinda counter-intuitive right, that disconnecting the GPS antenna gets you a better satellite lock! HTC would be hiding their faces if they found out, LoL!!!

That's like that, thanks.
I used a wire to make connection by step with first and then with second contact. Then I noticed that by touching one of them mobile signal improves. Applying wire on GPS signal contact give almost no improvement. And it means that I should lock the unnecessary contact by method I described below.
I hope this somehow helps for similiar experience users.

Hey dude, I had exactly the very same GPS problem with my Desire S. The GPS antenna is right below the camera lens and definitely not where the battery lid is. Anyway, I used the tape stuff and it works. For the first time I have a stable GPS fix after few seconds, even without data connection, meaning pure GPS and not A-GPS. However, there is no way I can explain this. THIS IS INSANE!
They probably would be surprised a lot! It's hard to explain, but seems like there is some kind of interacting between transmitter and cover. And contacts there are not made just for look.

So all you have to do, is make sure that one pin can't make contact?
But why did they put it there?
That is very strange!

[Q] GPS/Navigation issues

Is anyone else having problems with the gps/navigation on after downloading cm 10.1.2 or any of the updates? For whatever reason whenever I try to use my google nag it seems to work but the gps cannot lock in on my coordinates, I tried using navigon and that app just keeps crashing besides that everything else works perfectly. Any ideas what is going on ?
I always flash the AGPS patch from the dev forum on every ROM I've ever used, and I've never had issues with GPS since doing that. Worth a try.

I would also suggest getting 'GPS Status' from the play store. I have found a few times where the GPS needs a kickstart, and GPS Status does it. Just open up GPS Status, and it will get your location, then go back to maps and it will nail it.

I used to do this too when I mixed up giving google apps permission to use GPS with enabling google ads. I simply refused to read that text about google apps and gps and assumed it was google ads lol. Wow did I feel stupid when I finally enabled GPS access for google apps and got that fast GPS again... I felt really stupid dumb :silly:
EDIT:
I've had issues with AGPS patch here in Sweden. When using the correct patch for this region it locks in about 1-2 seconds with an error in two whole kilometers and stays that way for 5-10 minutes after which it starts jumping between the correct location and a 1.5 kilometer error. AGPS patch is really obsolete and useless for me as GPS works flawlessly without it.
Premature celebration
seems I celebrated a bit prematurely, I got the gps working a bit when I patched the location fix however the main problem is still here. That being that the directions are give, my location is found however the actual route guidance just hangs. My location is shown, if I choose the turn by turn list all the correction instructions are give but for some reason the route guidance just hangs. I am now going to try reinstalling stock rom to see if it is a rom issue. Hope someone out there knows of a fix without having to flash back to stock I really like cm 10.1.2

GPS not working well

Anybody seem to be having problems with their XZ Premium GPS not working as they should be? Mine is intermittent, sometimes when it works, it works well. But the moment I took a wrong turn and quickly fired up my Google Map navigator, it have problems detecting where I'm at. The Map will show the route, but my location is all over the place. It would pause and stay in that spot for a while, then move me on a lake or off road. I tried "GPS status" app to pin point where I'm at. It doesn't always want to work.
It's getting really annoying, I want it to be reliable when I need it. Lucky I still have my Z3 as backup. So far, seems like the Z3 is the best Sony ever made.
Same problem here...It is hard to start GPS....it shows current position, it lose it. I have to fight for 10 minutes until its stable.
the same issue here. OK after reboot, but problem is back again a after
I had that problem once while downtown... the buildings in that area are all old and packed pretty closely together. It just did not want to update for the life of me. Rebooting it did not seem to help it at all. Especially using the walking directions... forget it. I didn't have time to fuss with a gps app to see if I just wasn't getting any sat connections, but if it happens again I will.
Wow, so it's a known common problem. I hope it's software related so it can be fix by updates. Now I have to open two programs to make sure it always working all the time. Run "GPS Status" app and then open Google Map. Cumbersome.
Dial *#*#7378423#*#*, service test, GPS, Purge Assistance Data
This worked for me!
My use of Purge Assistance Data seemed to help, but I've had a couple of episodes of the problem since then where it didn't help. However, in the past three days the problem has not appeared. I cannot determine what has changed; many apps have updated as usual, and in order to try to determine if this is a hardware problem I ran phone in Safe mode during which problem did not appear. Interestingly (or not) the problem has not occurred during subsequently use of the phone in normal mode. BTW, I'm running the July 1st security update (45.0.A.7.90); the August 1st version has not been offered to me yet by the Software Update).

This won't help? - - https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=73337848
My XZ premium is 4 weeks old and had problems with the GPS since day one. The GPS was very unreliable taking me in the wrong direction and sometimes delays in giving instructions until after passing my turns. Using google Maps and high accuracy settings. Contacted Sony today and they have asked me to contact google first to make sure there is no software issues from their side before they can look at it. Meanwhile I will download a different navigation app and see if the same problem happens.
I did GPS location test but it seems everytime I attempt it the phone seems to take forever in finding anything so I give up normally after 10 mins.
If any one has found a solution to this problem please let me know (other than changing the phone of course)
My GPS problems went away with 45.0.A.7.120
You're not alone!! I always end up going wrong directions. Compass is very way off.
Sent from my G8142 using XDA-Developers Legacy app
+1 here. it's really frustrating as i use my GPS a lot.
I have the same issue. Second time I sent my phone to Sony. I will update the forum.
Was having this issue as well. Purned GPS Assistance data seemed to help. also did the battery trick. maybe sony should give us an update that will not allow gps to "turn off" when using apps that require it.
i searched on my phone some where on the hidden settings. The Destination was 30mins and about 20miles or so. Said the gps was only on for around 10. Cellular data was used too. This has to be a software issue. why it shuts off gps at times.

And to answer the question, yes, our phone supports Galileo.

Yes, XZP supports Galileo. But it has not been enabled yet. :/
Had the same problem, gps not locking until I purged assistance data and rebooted the device, then it worked fine for about 48 hours until I had to repeat the process.
I completely solved this problem by uninstalling Google play services updates. This was a known issue for other phones some years ago.
Can anyone else confirm this solution?
