Rooting an Oppo R11 - General Questions and Answers

Hi all, was just putting this out there to ask if any of the XDA faithful have been able to successfully root an Oppo R11? I don't need to go into details about how bad the ColorOs is, so you get where I'm coming from
I've read a fair bit since receiving the phone (Gift) about being able to root older models from the work by Wuxianlin and others.
Is it safe to assume the older methods of rooting the Oppo phone wont work for the R11?
Details are below of the model (Australia) etc
Model # - CPH1707
ColorOS version - v3.1
Android version - 7.1.1
Build # - CPH1707EX_11_A.06
Cheers guys, appreciate any help or guidance

The ColorOS is by far and away the worst experience I've ever had on a phone.... it boggles the mind how they thought this was a good android alternative. The phone is great but really unusable for me at this stage.

Can you please go into detail, I've never rooted and Android device, as I've never needed to. I'm coming from a BlackBerry PRIV, which I used for many years, and I came dependant on the keyboard (BlackBerry PRIV onscreen keyboard). This is all good, as you can download a Blackberry manager and install the keyboard, however, the keyboard doesn't appear when you tap into message, email, you name it. Sometimes you'll have to tap 4 or 5 times before it'll appear. And it's got all the permissions in the world.
Now I'm here, hoping I can install a stock android version. Is this at all possible? Any help would be much appreciated.

In the same boat.... for me ColorOS is almost unuseable as I struggle to get the font size and colour that works for my eyes... and it's very non customisable. I am playing around with Themer (Play store download) and it looks better but so far not a final solution

[Q] Is there a Android app like "Activator: on the iPhone

Hello,
I was wondering if there was an Android app like Activator on the iPhone? I have searched to the best of my abilities regarding this question but have not found a clear answer. The closest I have come to finding this answer was the app "LaunchKey." However, it does not seem to fit what I am looking for.
Reason for this search is due to my brief episode with the iPhone 3g and yes I know...(after finding out, android system is definitely better in terms of customizing and freedom) Thus during that time I came upon this app called "Activator", which is basically amazing. Now that I am back using the android system I realized the only I miss about the iPhone was that app.
So if anyone can help that would be great! Thanks!
BTW:
Background information on the iPhone jailbreak app "Activator." Basically you can launch any apps and system actions via gestures or hardware buttons. (such as long-press, short-press, double tap,etc...)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=850464
and for gestures Im not entirely sure where I saw it or or what it was called but it does exist.
Reply
Thanks for the reply, however, I did stumble upon that app but it does not really support long press, short press, double tap and other various hardware buttons. As for gestures, I guess it does not matter as much as the hardware button configuration. Basically can a button have more functions than just one ie: home button-going to home. Thanks
I'm hoping that this app exists, as its one of the first apps I discovered years ago that was auto installed after jail breaking my previous iPhone. The app basically allows you customize a very large range of settings as shortcuts.

not strongly related but here's an app which I found very useful:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=tora.mamma.swipestart
Thanks!
Thanks for your input I however have found the app "SwipePad" to be extremely useful, albeit not the original application I was looking for but it does the job Thank you again!
really!!! Android is amazing, I think is like a pocket pc, but sometimes I miss my old iPhone when I remember cydia tweeks like Activator. :silly:

Widgets are great but you still have to unlock the phone and look at the screen and press it. With activator you can, for example, press the power button of the phone twice and that will initiate the flash light... this is much better when you are in need of the flash light quickly...I wish android had something like that...

I believe since the time I have posted this question to the present, there have been alternatives as well as actual implementations to the hardware tweaks. Currently, there are baked in hardware tweaks in custom ROM such as CM10.1 (lock screen long press buttons do variety of different things) or software programs such as swipepad, or Trigger app (Both of which I use a lot)
My current ROM CM10.1 has the capability of accessing the flashlight from the longpress of home button while in lockscreen. Or even changing music volume and music track by volume press/longpress. This I consider the equivilent of what you were referring to.

**ATTENTION: any of the information I have provided are based on my own experience/knowledge/research. IT IS IMPERATIVE(important) that you do your own research to double check my information and advice. If ever in DOUBT, ask/research around. (or dont follow through is usually the safest option) YOU are ultimately responsible for what you do with YOUR device, if you don't believe this, please do not continue dabbling in this area.
You should be able to do that, to "unroot" your phone, but it depends on the device as well as the instructions that other developers/rooters have given. (meaning not 100% probable, you need to do more research)
*JUST NOTICED YOU SAID YOU ARE ROOTED
-To get Stock ROM, just download the appropriate ROM zip files and then flash it.
-if you want to get warranty back, you will have to follow instructions for your device on how to unroot. (if even possible)
Follow the instructions given on the cyanogenmod website, usually involves flashing and wiping. (sounds like you have a samsung phone )
Based on question 3 statement, I believe you have to do MORE research. (as this is an extremely basic idea of rooting, unless of course I misread or the question was mistyped) Here is where you can start:CM about
Again, you have to do MORE research yourself, google is your friend for that. There is no one size fits all unrooting method.
Cyanogenmod (also known as CM) has an software release life cycle. (not counting the M snapshot nor experiments) You have Stable>Nightly> Release Candidates(RC).
Taken from this Forum
bassmadrigal:
Stable is after all the features desired by the CM devs have been put in and the code has been tested. Snapshots (M builds) are builds done roughly once a month that has had some testing to make sure things are mostly working and released to the public. These are the first builds that allow official bug reports on the project manager site, https://jira.cyanogenmod.org. Nightlies are automated builds that are built, well, every night. There is no human interaction with these and they are largely there just to see if the code added throughout the day will compile. As far as the devs are concerned, there are no bad builds with the nightlies, because if it doesn't build, that is news to let them know that something is screwed up in the code. They don't accept any bug reports on these builds.
Generally, the nightly builds, while extremely experimental and considered bleeding-edge, tend to be relatively stable and mostly bug-free. Many people use the nightlies as their so-called daily-driver, meaning that any bugs that they may have aren't so severe that they want to switch to a different version. For my Nexus 4, as soon as I got it I switched to a nightly build and haven't had any bugs pop up.
Also, all builds are full builds, so if you switch to a nightly, you aren't required to flash every single nightly. You can do it as you see fit. I've been known sometimes to flash a build every day, but then I've gone a month in between updating. Just grab the latest version you want to flash and flash that one.

Motorola Solutions TC55

Hello,
I have a TC55 from Motorola Solutions (i.e. the enterprise division that does not belong to Google). It is a rugged phone with a big battery (4400 mAh), but certainly not the sleekest design. Not sure if there is much interest in this kind of device, and I am certainly no developer - but in case anyone is investigating the TC55, here are two things I found so far:
It does not come with any Google apps: no Maps, no Gmail, no Play store and so on.
It is easily rooted with Framaroot using the Gandalf exploit.
(I cannot post this info into the Framaroot thread due to my low post count).
Anyway, maybe this helps someone. I will be happy to try to answer any questions about the TC55, but keep in mind I am no pro and I am not keen in messing around in its internals much more than I have done already.

I heard my company is planning to go with these soon for entry level supervisors such as myself. I'm trying to figure out exactly what it is. All the specs and brochures from Motorola keep calling it a mobile computer in a smartphone "form factor" but never actually call it a phone. I didn't see anything in any of the specs to lead me to believe for sure that it was a phone or if it was just an Android computer in a smartphone form factor.
Anyway, I just wanted to confirm, that, you're certain this is a phone, correct?
Thanks.

Yes, definitely. You can call and get called, and you can send and receive SMS. It also supports wired headsets, and it is supposed to work with Bluetooth headsets, though I do not have any to test.

Thanks for the info but it looks like mine is going to be crippled.
Sort of a let-down really. Yes, it "can" be a phone. Or without a sim card it can be a really powerful Android based mobile computer. That's what it is going to be for most of us. Only a few supervisors with area management approval are going to get units with the phone features working. Still cool. Just not as cool as I'd thought it was going to be.

I see, sorry to hear that. It sounds weird to me to do that, but then again I have no clue about this type of work.
Maybe the crippling could be worked around or undone by people with good Android knowledge - but I suppose it might not be the best idea to go against company policy.

I don't think they're doing anything all that special to cripple it. They just won't all have sim cards or a cell plan. Pretty much as simple as that.
I won't be doing anything to circumvent that though or rooting it or anything like that. It's not like it's a gift and it belongs to me or anything. After almost 22 years, I've kind of grown to like my job and getting a paycheck every two weeks.I'd kind of like to keep it for another 15 or 20 years. Who knows, maybe my manager will decide that I need cell service with mine.
I work for a large automaker in the U.S. We have over 2.8 million square feet under roof. Personally, I can be anywhere on in the plant, on the roof, in pits & sub-basements underneath or anywhere on or near the 50 acre plant site at any given time. A lot of what I need to do on a daily basis is through our intranet portal. They're putting in something like 500 new wi-fi repeaters/extenders all around the plant as well. They're purchasing these for over 300 first line supervisors at my site alone. I'm pretty sure they're doing this corporate-wide so I hate to think what they're spending on these things as a corporation. I'm sure it would bankrupt many small nations! In addition to giving us portal access away from the desk, these are meant to replace our aging industrial radio system. As expensive as these are, they're still much cheaper than $1.5 to $2k per person for a radio that has no other built-in functionality and these do seem pretty ruggedized.
Still a shame about the phone functionality though.

google account
Hi,
I got stucked with trying to get google calendars from my google account to TC55.
I found one solution to setup google account as a corporate one, but it's not available anymore due to change in google policy.
I can setup google mail via email account, but that doesn't bring me my calendars to the device.
I tried to install gapps but without success.
Is there any other way?
Thanks.

No idea, I haven't tried. As far as I understand gapps are usually installed via flashing a zip from recovery, and the stock recovery of the TC55 does not have that option, it only allows reflashing a whole image, if I understand it correctly. Either way, I have come to appreciate the open source alternatives and do not want to get Google on my phone, so I will not try, sorry.
However, going by this thread over at the Motorola support forum, it seems it won't take long until there is official gapps support:
https://developer.motorolasolutions.com/thread/4989
Motorola has now released a TC55-firmware with Google apps. Here are the release notes:
https://atgsupportcentral.motorolasolutions.com/content/emb/docs/ReleaseNotes/Release%20Notes%20-%20%20TC55_RevAPlus_GMS_01%2074G_v10.htm
According to the support email they sent me, to get the actual release you need to perform the following arcane ritual:
Resolution Type is : Software Download
Resolution Id is  : 95562
Resolution Title is : TC55 Update Image v1.74 with GMS (Google Mobile Service) Release Note & Factory Reset & Enterprise Enabler package

T55N0JGMVAUEN17400.apf 321 MB TC55 OS update package file for deployment using MSP
If you require access to OS files for TC55 1.74 GMS then call the local Support Desk and provide following information:

e. E-mail address

Hi Elanguescence,
I think I screwed up my tc55 by enabling the multiuser function without first creating the white list. Now all the users (with admin rights) does not have access to all the programs, including Applock Administrator and Multiuser administrator.
To cut things short, do you know of a way to reset the device? I don't mind setting it to factory default and start over. I've googled it and some said to launch Rapid Deployment and scan a barcode from there... but my Rapid Deployment just says "Service Not Ready, Please Wait" and get stuck there.
Any help appreciated. Thank you.
Any TC55 users here? Should be getting my unit w/ GMS soon... How do you guys like it?
Is the bootloader locked?

Hey!
I want to Buy one TC55 for me. Normally i hate Android and the Google stuff on the Phone but some Motorola Salesman told me there is a version with out.
Now i use an Sybian Device. That mean i am "offline" the hole time and when i need Internet the Phone connect the the Internet.
So how about that phone can i work "offline" to?
I will also use an VPN Tunnel to block on my backend all Connnection i dont want. Does all Data trough this VPN Tunnel ?
How about the Barcode Scanning does it work good?
I know for 2D i need to use the Cam but how works it when i am in some other Application?
Nobody?
Ok. I just bought a TC55 from a Friend and I was wondering if someone would post the update to get GSM and the Factory Reset packages. I went to the page and it requires all the information posted above before. Mine is rooted, but i am trying to install GAPS but the recovery is the basic and cannot. I manually installed Google Play and the Google Play Services but Google Play services keep crashing and the Play Store will not connect, any ideas ?
the are 2 versions one with google s... service and the other without.
So i belive you have the first?
(Can i ask you some question about that phone?)

[Completed] How to make a full reset on a heavily modded android to take it back to stock?

Hi there. First of all I'm sorry if this is not the right place to post this.
Anyway, someone I know bought an used iPhone 6 only to discover that it's somehow an Android device heavily modded (it looks like an iPhone 6 on the outside, which is an issue because it doesn't have the three buttons the android apps are meant use). I'm not even sure if it's possible to make this usable, the iOS stuff is glitchy and Android apps don't seem to work that well either.
I'm not really a developer but I play around with Tasker/xposed and stuff so when I realized there wasn't an actual shortcut for the android settings (I can only access the iOS version of the settings, which the factory reset doesn't seem to be working), I decided to download the trial version of Tasker and see what I could fiddle so I could find out how this was done. On my first try I couldn't find a thing and now Tasker keeps crashing, I can't keep it open long enough to enable logging.
The root seems to have been made using the kingroot app (evidenced by the KingUser, which was the only thing I could find). Removing root access doesn't seem to do a thing.
Sooo... I've ran out of options and decided to post it here as a far cry for help. I realize I have not given you much and more info is probably required, but I'm not sure how to acquire it. The "About phone" on the menu doesn't give me much, device name is Android, Carrier is unknown and Version is 8.1.2 (12A405). Model number is MG492CH/A.
Thanks for your help and I'm sorry I couldn't provide any more useful information.
Hi, thank you for using XDA Assist. A goggle search of your model number shows it as an iphone clone. It doesn't surprise me that it uses Android as iOS would be next to impossible obtain. But the bad news is there is no information on XDA about your device. The closest I could find was this, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2778862 To return to stock you'd need the android factory image for your phone and a method to flash it. Both would be specific to the phone. The only other thing I can suggest is to ask in this forum, http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/help

Huawei Honor Waterplay Tablet (3GB / 32GB)

Hi,
since I can't find much on the interwebs, maybe a huawei wizz can help me here.
For Christmas I imported the honor waterplay (non LTE 3GB/32GB version) (since it was fairly cheap and, well, IP67... so it can function as a ebook reader while in the bathtub/jaccuzzi) and also has a beefy battery.
The issue I have is: on huawei's website I can not unlock the bootloader, If you use EMUI 5.0 you can select tablets, but the waterplay is not recognized. If you select 5.1 (which the waterplay has) you can only select Smartphones. I contacted Huawei via Mail but 10 days running - no answer. - so is there a way to unlock it so i can flash magisk?
Second Q: Is there a working exploit to get at least root running? adb via usb is not working, on click root apps failed (as well as the windows supported ones like kingo etc.)
thirdly: does anyone know if the waterplays' hardware is similar to a lineage os version of another tablet ? (I'd love to have a L-OS on that, not only for root but some apps loaded with yalp annoy me, they work but always a popup google services are required...)
btw: the tablet is impressive for the money (260€) ereader mode it lasts days (was reading some GoT for hours), playing games is good (my nephew played 4h on christmas and it only lost 40%), overall system is responsive. it has a fingerprint reader which works ok and can be used with gestures. All it misses is a fully google supported rom. Sound with the 4 Speakers is actually good - you can even watch streams/movies without sounding too tinny.
thanks in advance for any suggestions / support
cheers
@ moderators: if this is wrong here, please move it - I did not want to hijack any honor forum for this, since there is no section for the waterplay yet. thanks

You need the Huawei gms services apk (com.huawei.gmsinstaller.apk Ver. 1.2.0) , and then an google play installer (com.goplaycn.googleinstall.apk Ver. 4.8.1)
Both of these can be found easily using google search.
You need to install the gms service apk first, reboot the tablet and then install the google play installer to get the playstore app on your tablet. You might need to wait a bit after the playstore is installed for the Playstore app to update itself to the correct version before selecting the app.
Once the you select the app it will ask for your google credentials and you can go from there.

Question Can you test this Tap,Tap port on your Galaxy A32-5G please?

Can you test this Tap,Tap port on your Galaxy A32-5G please?
It's not my app. It's an app that is posted on XDA at that forum page on April 6th, 2022.
Let me know if it works for you as it might save a lot of people time & effort in that it sounds like a great idea for an app to backport Android 12 features.
EDIT: I was asked to further explain what it does!
Note: That means nobody clicks on links! Sigh.
As far as I can tell from the XDA thread in that first link (that nobody ever seems to click on, sadly) the app just adds the Android 12 tap-on-the-back feature to earlier Androids.
Nothing more than that (as far as I know).
1. Side load Tap,Tap version 1.3 from Github.
2. Walk through the setup steps
3. Let us know if the Tap,Tap port works on your A32-5G please
a. Please let me know WHICH Galaxy A32-5G works (mine is the SM-A326U).
b. Also let me know which settings work, for example:
Device Size = for example, "Legacy 160mm [6.3in] (Large)"
Sensitivity = for example, "1st Very High" indent
c. Let me know what application you launched with the double tap on the back
(and whether or not you removed the case to get it to work)
Again, I repeat, this isn't my app. It's an app on XDA developers. I'm just a user. Like you. I tested it and it seems to work for others (according to the XDA thread) but it didn't work for me.
It could be me. It could be my phone. It could be anything. That's why I'm asking for others to add value. It's not any more complicated than that.
I tried it on mine, I also have the SM-A326U and it didn't work. I tried the same sensitivity settings and the device size settings. It might have something to do with the fact that I've heavily modified my phone(debloated, disabled, etc) but I was unable to get it to work.

Hi platless,
THANK YOU for responding as I spent a lot of time testing this and documenting it and asking on the original thread and even asking the developer (who, I know, is busy developing), and I just couldn't get it to work on Android 11 either.
I didn't know if it was just the way my phone was set up, or, more likely, whether it was due to the specific phone model (the developer told me he can't test every model and I easily concur with him on that).
Like you, I've debloated my phone, and mine is also heavily modified (I use no Google apps nor is the phone set up with a Google account for example), so we're both kind of similar that way.
What I did NOT know (until you posted) was whether anyone else on the SAME MODEL as I was on got it to work, which is an IMPORTANT datapoint which you just provided.
Thanks. I'll give up on trying to get it to work for two reasons:
a. You confirmed it won't likely work on ANY SM-A326U, and,
b. I moved the SM-A326U to Android 12 which has the feature!
The only thing left, I guess, to help others, is for those with the SM-A326U who are still on Android 11 and who have NOT heavily modified their SM-A326U to test it; but at this point, I will give up on trying to get it to work for the two reasons stated above.
Thanks for being kind hearted though, and testing it out for the team!

I forgot to mention I'm also on Android 12. I was unable to get it to work, how were you able to get it to work on Android 12? And no problem, I'm always down to test stuff!
