General F.A.Q.

Q: Some translations are missing for my language, can I help?
A: Sure you can, please check our translations repo available here , you can either do a pull request, or if you don't know how to work with git, sent us the XML. Strings for your language ( Check Readme on repo).
Q: What's working ?
A: Check first Post for current status
Update for 7.1.1
Q: When I try to install the ROM it says "Error 7 symlink failed", what gives?
A: You need to unmount /system first on twrp
Q: After flashing TWRP says "No OS Installed?"
A: Ignore this message. If the ROM flash indicated as being successful, you can swipe to reboot and the OS should boot.
Q: Do i really need full wipes?
A: Yeah
Q: App "x" doesn't work, why?
A: Probably not compatible with Nougat yet, feedback is welcome

A: As of now, there's no Xposed for N, so no
Q: Does busybox still works on Nougat?
A: yes
Q: AdAway no longer works on Nougat, what can I do?
A: Simply install busybox first, available from the Play Store, and it'll download hosts and work just fine then
Q: Data Connection does not work, why?
A: The ROM, already includes latest APNs, if you still have no active data connection, check your APN settings
Q: How is battery life with Nougat on the Jiayu?
A: It should be comparable to Marshmallow.
Update: We've already fixed several memory leaks and draining issues

A: No. Vulcan does not provide support for MediaTek (yet?)
Q: Does doze work in this build?
A: Yes. You do not have to enable anything; it is active by default.

A: YES, latest rootless substratum is supported on madOS
madOS: We are now an Official Substratum supported rom

Did you maybe flash the rom from Apollo lite? This could explain those problems (also the storage one).
I'd suggest to completely flash this software then (or again).

Okay, I have correct rom in my Apollo X, but the issue with unlocking still persist. And another bug still persist, if I wake up phone by power button, it needs aprox. 7 seconds to get respond from touchscreen.

No, we can't, unless you are already on stock 7.0 by vernee... Partition layout has changed, and the whole phone needs to be reformatted.

If you already have recovery installed i suggest to wipe first, and then turn off the phone
I just flashed this rom and i will try to explain it to you( i already had a 7.1.2 rom installed, so the devolpers can correct me if i am wrong)
Step 1: Download SP Flash Tools en MadOS software for Vernee Apollo X
Step 2: Unzip the MadOS software
Step 3: Open SP flash tools, Download tab , and choose Scatter-Loading File
Step 4: Choose the scatter file from the MadOS software
Step 5: Select download only at the traingle and press download
Step 6: Connect your phone while its power is off
Step 7: When downloading is finished, disconnect phone,
Step 8: Boot phone, then go to recovery (hold power, press restart , select recovery)
Step 9: Install Gapps
This is how i did it, but i already had i 7.1.2 rom installed on my phone

I am.
Rebooted twice during setup. Then went into bootloop.
Didn't flash anything other that the ROM and OpenGApps.
To all the people having bootloops.. Do as mentioned below.. The shipped kernel isn't complete with f2fs commits so the rom reboots and goes into loop..
So either u switch to ext4 or
Extract the boot.img and keep in ur phone and follow.. Belows..
1: flash the rom..
2: flash gapps..
3: flash unsu zip..
4: flash the boot.img as boot using twrp
5: now flash the kernel attached with this post.. The kernel has f2fs commits..
6: flash magisk
7: flash phh superuser..
Reboob..
Profit..??
I am using the rom since 2 days now..
Credits for the kernel go to @dabug123 who is none other than Paul..
Cheers..

F.A.Q :
Video camera recording issue ?
- please try to update to EMUI B386 before to switch to RROS 7.1.2 !
Fixed ! make sure that you have installed the vendor.zip from OP !
Your SIM card are not recognized ?
- please make sure that your SIM card have LTE capability !
Device too hot while charging with stock Huawei charger ?
- please try to charge via USB connected to a Desktop/Laptop, or simply use a different charger, instead the stock one !
Your device EVA-DL00 or EVA-TL00 became EVA-L19 ?
- yes, do not worry ! - these versions have almost identical features !
Why there is always full network signal ?
- yes, is just a tweak - until we'll find a solution for correct signal scaling, we prefer this compromise solution !
Are you going to switch Selinux to enforcing ?
- for the moment, this ROM is intended to use Selinux in permissive mode - do not try to change this !!!
All your issues, that in fact are related to F.A.Q will be ignored !
dude i cant believe it finally. thaanks for all the work i really apreciate it. so the only issues are the reboot to recovery and the encryption the camera gps, all the sensors are okay?? if its the case please confirm and ive got myself my new daily driver . can you give some info about the performance camera ram management etc. cheers and thanks for all the hard work,
pd: and how did you managed to get the hadware working without the source code and the drivers?

hey please send some feedback performance(battery ram camera etc) bugs(are all the sensors working (bluetooth gps, etc); what about the camera, its all completely stable and working 100%) etc
and about the smart cover, dont think so scince its a feature thats built into huaweis firmware and it probably has some copyright or something but there must be an alternatie with xposed or simply a flashable port from the rom
I'm currently on Magic Rainbow (Nougat)...can i just start in twrp and flash the rom or do i have to go back to stock Nougat?

just follow the instructions and it will be fine, i know its kinda boring having to reflash stock but thats how its meant to be.
Is it possible having working stock camera app from huawei?
I'm not informed that well, I don't own this device, but AFAIK there is a reboot to eRecovery Bug. Have you guys thought about flashing TWRP over recovery2.img? Or jsut wipe that image? There was a zip that flashed TWRP to recovery2 for the P8 lite, it isn't possible with fastboot, but a flashable zip did work. I dont know if this will do anything though. What I am thinking is, that something that doesn't get modified by custom ROM's is telling the phone that there is an emergency or something. It might be the recovery2, but it also could be something diffrent. I remember my fastboot didn't let me boot one time and it just send me to eRecovery or restart to fastboot again.
Wow awesome ! Was thinking about getting this phone. Now I'm surely gonna buy it.
Which google apps platform I should use? ARM?
EDIT:
Ok I know. ARM 64
i try this and mess up all...so i need step by step installation help for this i have now rooted stock rom B378 installed...how to update latest firmware ?
Soo battery performance is realy bad, I've got 88% and in battery settings is information, that It will work about 1,5h. An I didnt even instal any apps.
How long does the boot process take, after 45min I canceled.
I'm still on Rainbow Rom b383.

you dont follow the steps.
1.Update to LATEST firmware (which is B386)
2.Boot to TWRP -> goto WIPE -> format data
3.Reboot recovery
4.Goto WIPE -> Factory reset
5.Flash ROM and GAPPS
6.Enjoy
Awesome rom, but those reboots are realy anoying, and because of that I can't use it.

Maybe flashing boot.img to recovery2? would that make our device just reboot instead rebooting to erecovery?
that would be a pain also but much better than reboot to erecovery.
BTW ROM is so awesome, really hope its fixed soon. I would even consider keeping this phone

I can't, I had to turn back to my previous rom, because those reboots every 30min were to anoying.

General F.A.Q.
Q: What the hell is madOS ?
A: madOS, (M.A.D. Team OS), is a ROM based on pure A.O.S.P. with extended capabilities and customizations made by or merge/adapted by M.A.D. Team.
Q: Which recovery do we need to use to install the rom?
A: Here you can find latest TWRP: http://www.mediafire.com/file/ovmmtkqqudmzwk5/h5000_mad_twrp.rar
Q: HOw do I install the TWRP from above?
A: Extract the .rar file and flash it by using flashtool.
If you already have an older TWRP installed, you also can copy the new img file to your phone, boot to your 'old' TWRP and choose: install --> flash image --> choose the twrp img --> destination: recovery.
Q: When I try to install the ROM it says "Error 7 symlink failed", what gives?
A: You need to unmount /system first on twrp
Q: After flashing TWRP says "No OS Installed?"
A: Ignore this message. If the ROM flash indicated as being successful, you can swipe to reboot and the OS should boot.
Q: Do i really need full wipes?
A: Yeah
Q: App "x" doesn't work, why?
A: Probably not compatible with Nougat yet, feedback is welcome
Q: Is the rom rooted?
A: NO, But you can easily root with SuperSU v2.76 onwards.
For 7.1.2: Latest SuperSU ( 2.79, etc)
Q: Does xposed work?
A: As of now, there's no Xposed for N, so no
Q: Does busybox still works on Nougat?
A: yes
Q: AdAway no longer works on Nougat, what can I do?
A: Simply install busybox first, available from the Play Store, and it'll download hosts and work just fine then
Q: Data Connection does not work, why?
A: The ROM, already includes latest APNs, if you still have no active data connection, check your APN settings
Q: How is battery life with Nougat?
A: It should be comparable to Marshmallow.
Update: We've already fixed several memory leaks and draining issues
Q: Does this build support Vulcan?
A: No. Vulcan does not provide support for MediaTek (yet?)
Q: Does doze work in this build?
A: Yes. You do not have to enable anything; it is active by default.
Q: Does this ROM supports Substratum ?
A: YES, latest rootless substratum is supported on madOS
madOS: We are now an Official Substratum supported rom
Q: Does the ROM features disabling SIMs , On Settings SIM Options?
A: YES, we've now merged our own implementation (adapted for N)
Q: when will (feature/issue here) be fixed?
A: NO ETA , please
Porting F.A.Q.
No porting support, no port questions allowed on this thread, and porting PMs will be auto-deleted, porting replies will be reported as well
G.APPS F.A.Q.
Q:What GAPPS package should I use?
A: Open GAPPS (BeansGapps should work as well)
Update 7.1.2
OpenGapps (pico/nano) Packages, are recommended (or Beans GAPPS (MINI))
Q: How to properly install GAPPS?
A:Flash Rom + Flash Gapps at once

Hi DerTeufel1980,
Do you actually use this phone yourself as in the quote above
I am thinking about buying this phone to play around with after breaking the Ulefone Metal's screen some time ago.
Are their any major issue's with this phone I should be aware of prior to purchase.
I cant believe how quiet this thread is
Keep up the great work BTW. :highfive:

Yes, I am using it.
The device is really good for this price... Unfortunately there seem to be different revisions with new touchpanel and no source code update.
Maybe it's worth taking a look at vernee Apollo lite, which isn't too expensive anymore either.

Thanks for the info :good:
I literally just bought the H5000 before your reply which was due to the fact that I saw one on Amazon Warehouse Deals (Opened Box) the very last one at a bargain price of £59 that's about 64 euros I prefer the smaller phones 5" or 5.2" max as I seem to drop the larger ones much more often for some reason.
Hopefully the phone I receive will have the same touchpanel as yours. :fingers-crossed: :fingers-crossed:

Working Perfectly
Hi,
For Info:
I Run into 1 issue which was that there was no recovery, bootloader options when pressing the volume + and power key.
After a quick search I found the solution on another thread HERE. I believe this does not affect all devices so was probably just the ROM version my device shipped with. (Thanks to which ever of M.A.D Team provided the working preloader and lk :good: )
I followed the instructions for flashing TWRP and performing the wipe when coming from stock I then flashed ROM from the OP.
I installed Open GApps ARM64 7.1 pico from HERE
I then flashed the SuperSU-v2.82-201705271822.zip.
V2.82 is currently the Latest version and it's listed under ZIP (Recovery Flashable.zip MD5:8755c94775431f20bd8de368a2c7a179) from HERE just incase anyone gets confused.
It's very early days yet but I am sure everything will be perfect. :highfive:
.

Do you know how to distinguish new revision from old?
Edit: if I flash your rom to new revision and it doesn't work, can I go back to stock with flashing stock rom through flashtool ?
Edit2: Just tested my phone with your twrp and screen is unresponsive when booting to it. So I must have new touchscreen.
With trepidation
@DerTeufel1980
@superdragonpt
Out of sheer confusion on my part and at the personal risk of been eaten alive could I ask a few OT questions here or solicit a response to some questions I may have in the correct device thread located HERE .
The questions would relate to the possibilities of me upstreaming the published Android 4.4 Kernel source code (kv-3.10)
Thanks bigrammy.

I think it's almost impossible.
Your best try is, to use the 4.4 kernel and add your device drivers. But since those drivers are from 3.10... It's most probably taking longer than Linux 4.4 is going to be updated

What is AOKP?
AOKP stands for Android Open Kang Project. It is a custom ROM distribution for several high-end Android devices. The name is a play on the word kang and AOSP (Android Open Source Project). The name was sort of a joke, but it just stuck, just like our infatuation with unicorns.
We fork the source code of Android that Google puts out in the open with every major version release, and we then add the magical unicorn bytes (read: we add some of the coolest features that are both useful and make your ROM awesome).
With AOKP, you can generally do a lot more with your device than what you could do with the original firmware that came installed on it.
Features:
For one, AOKP is lightweight. Most OEMs provide a heavy UI layer over Android and have loads of bloatware (i.e. apps that not everyone use every day, but you cannot remove because they’re “baked in” by default). Since AOKP is built upon vanilla Android source, it has neither of the above.
Also AOKP has features that you will not find on your stock firmware. You can have a multitude of toggles to quickly flip a lot of your phone’s settings right at your fingertips, or you can launch apps quickly from any screen using our Ribbons.
How to install:
* You should have already upgraded you phone to EMUI 5.0 / B360 and installed TWRP
* Go to TWRP and choose wipe -> format data -> type "yes"
* Reboot again to TWRP
* Peform a factory reset
* Install the ROM (aokp_berlin_nougat_unofficial_2017-09-23_1234.zip)
* Flash gapps (you can use the package that you want, but always select 7.x & arm64 ! )
* Flash the Camera_AOSPA.zip (if you want working camera)
* Flash the vendor-honor6x_7.1.2.zip
* wipe cache + dalvik cache
* Reboot! & Enjoy!
Issues:
* Encryption
* Bluetooth
* NFC (alpha state)

LTE is working with no issues for myself as well. Device is BLN-24 running AOKP. I've had no issues so far and have been running AOKP for just about a day now. Hope that helps?
Would you consider releasing the information on how you built this? I'm trying to build carbonrom for this device, and all guides I've seen are either outdated or for google devices (nexus/pixel). If you'd be willing to disclose how you're building roms for these devices, that would be much appreciated @Felix__L-01 . I'd request a CarbonRom build, but I feel as though that would be a bad thing to say as you'd be spending your own time and effort building a rom for other people without any incentive. If you'd be willing to point me in the direction of what you used to figure out how to build roms for the 6X, I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks,will try again
One more? Awesome.
We really got some good things cooking now :good:

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Is this Android 7 (Nougat)?
A: Yes, this is Android 7.1.2
Q: What code is Oct-N based on?
A: This version of Oct-N is based on LineageOS 14.1
Q: Why isn't there XYZ feature?
A: Shoot us a Suggestion if you want to see something added. While we are not going to promise to implement, we will always look into it
Q: But all the others have...
A: ROM developers, build something they want to use. The ROM developer that includes something they won't run implies less than 100% effort to ensure it does work. As a team, we have similar goals and objectives. If XYZ ROM has a feature you want, and we don't include (or don't want to include), feel free to use XYZ ROM, or build your own custom version of Oct-N.
Q: What about root?
A: Root is removed by default (users will be able to flash which ever root zip they want)

yeah as you hopefully know its not the system which needs to be formatted to ext4, its the /data partition. if you can't simpely follow the installation instructions step by step, i suggest you to stay away of flashing custom roms.
