Can't open internet while plugged in to pc

Even though I've told ActiveSync to "Allow wireless connection on device when connected to the destktop", it doesn't work, my smartphone SP5m connected via USB on my pc keeps telling me "Check your connection/network settings" whenever I need internet access and won't open any web pages or internet applications, why?
Under Connections settings, I usually have 2 options, either "Auto-detect settings" or "Select network" which has "The Internet" selected. But none of them works
And what's the difference between those network presets (The Internet, Work, etc)?

go to setting\connections\usb to pc and deset advanced network funcionality

No matter if "advanced network functionnality" is enabled or not, it's the same, internet won't work when my SP5m is plugged in via usb. It's surely working fine though using WIFI... any other thoughts anyone?

Just tested, same problem here and the weird part, it works if connected with a Bluetooth connection

i have that problem too.. connected to the laptop there is no internet connection with cabel but over bluetooth..
funny thing: if i connect to the desktop computer it does work with cabel
same security software (avira antivirus and pc tools firewall)
if anyone find a solution for that i'd be very glad. the problem itself doesnt matter as connection over bluetooth is more important to me but i just cant stand how illogical it is..

[Q] Sharing Connection from PC

Hi,
so my scenario is the following:
My PC is connected to the router via cable and has no WiFi connection. My router has wifi, but the connection is very bad in my room.
Is there a way to share the connection of my pc (running win 8 pro btw) via bluetooth (it's onboard) or USB?

edit: Just tested it with my HoX and there I have an option "Internet Pass-Through", which works fine via USB. But on my GNote 10.1 (wifi only) the option doesn't exist...
edit2: I guess I found out what the problem is: It's called reverse-tethering and the problem is, that all tethering options are not available in the systemsettings, because tethering is not available, because it's a wifi only model. On my HoX the option for internet pass-through are in the tethering section, though it's reverse tethering. Any ideas how to get there on the wifi only Note?

Use a second ethernet-slot on your pc, buy an usb-lan-device and connect it via otg and crossovercable.
Or use bluetooth, if your pc support that. (Maybe a cheap usb bt device for your pc?) To share internet on one android device to another via bt is no problem. So it should work te same with your pc. Dunno by windows settings or any third party software.

Allright, I have Bluetooth onboard but can't get it to work, I guess the problem is with windows here. The other idea is very good thanks, I'll try that.

The closer I get to the door the better it gets. At the door the router is basically directly beneath. On my couch which is near the door the reception is okay. But in my bed and near my PC (furthest away from door) the reception is very bad or no reception at all.

edit: So, I finally found a working bluetooth driver for my onboard bluetooth and win 8 (it's a P8Z68 Deluxe/Gen 3 btw). The standard win 8 bt driver seemed to lack some features. Okay, now I am able to have a real pairing connection to the GN10.1. I enabled ICS in windows connection option and then tried to do a "connect to personal network" in windows. It fails with no notification at all on the Note. Then I downloaded Bluetooth PAN app from play store. Funny thing is: If I click connect in windows (in the "connect to personal network" window) and shortly after/before click connect in Bluetooth PAN the connection does not fail in windows (it shows as connected), but the Bluetooth PAN app doesn't show any established connection, very weird. I tried the app "BlueVPN", but also no luck. Oh btw I found the following:

If you have a computer or other device that can share its network connection via Bluetooth, you can configure your phone to obtain a network connection by Bluetooth tethering (sometimes called reverse tethering).

So I had Bluetooth Tethering enabled all the time. It didn't make any difference, except I got a noticifation "Tethering active" when connected, but I didn't get a reverse tethering.
Next thing I did, I tried connecting to my HTC One X's bt hotspot, didn't work either.
My best guess is still that there are too many tethering options missing due to the fact that it's the wifi only version.
What I'll try next is this. I'll let you know if it works.
edit 2: Oh, I also tried reverse tethering with my HoX to the PC, also didn't work.

Didn't worked because of firewall on windows 8?
Try to establish tethering through ur mobile phone via bt to wifi or [insertnumberhere]G internet.
Maybe in both directions (mobile<->10.1) to see if that works... and to decrease potential ...errrm... fehlerquellen.

Any update on sharing the internet connection of the pc to the note 10.1. I am especially interested in doing it via the USB.
It seems you can update the Note 10.1 via the USB, so it must be possible to connect to the internet via it. I think.
I don't own a Note 10.1 yet, but I am really interested in getting one.

it is old but maybe for some people the first gibt. nowadays it is easier in Windows 6 and above. you'll make it.

ZTE MF370M 3G dongle from Three (USB Ethernet type)

Dear friends,
I have a Witson (MX) PX5 MTCD head-unit.
I have an old dongle from 3: ZTE MF627 (http://www.three.co.uk/Support/Devices/Modems/ZTE/MF627) which works but it connects slowly, and if it looses signal usually it will not re-connect to 3G until you re-plug it. It's not very reliable even on a computer.
So I got this new dongle from 3: ZTE MF370M (http://www.three.co.uk/Discover/Devices/ZTE/MF730M).
It is fast, reliable, connects fast etc... on a computer!
But I didn't know this actually has a different way of working: instead of being like a modem for the head-unit, when you plug it into anything, it dials and connects very fast. Then it creates an USB Ethernet hotplug wired connection for the host device (Windows, Mac, Linux computer etc).
Although generally supported as driver, the problem is that the Android OS in the head-unit doesn't know about this network (nobody wrote a config script or settings for this).
Did anyone manage to make this work?

I tried Malaysk ROM v5.0 because it was saying it has Ethernet settings.
I can see the eth driver recognised in dmesg.
However enabling Other Networks > Ethernet - thinks a bit then it disables it again. I tried both DHCP and Static IP with the usual settings of the dongle - but still no go.

TV Box Blocks WiFi for All Devices

Hey everyone,
I have a small Android TV box (VONTAR X96) I bought from AliExpress, connected via WiFi to a TP-Link TL-WR741ND router.
When the TV box powers on, and connects to the router, I get a message under the network name: "Connected. No Internet.", meaning of course I cannot browse or get any other information from the internet.
Whenever this happens, after a few seconds all other devices in the house (phones, tablets etc.) are suffering from the exact same problem, except for a PC which is connected to the router via Ethernet.
The only temporary solution to this is connecting the TV box to the router via WPS. After a few seconds the message changes simply to "Connected", and the block is lifted from every device. Several hours later the problem returns, and I have to go through this procedure again.
I tried assigning static IPs to the TV box but this did not change anything. I also tried using an external USB WiFi stick, presumably to bypass the internal WiFi chip (don't know if this actually worked), but no dice.
Anyone know what is going on here?

Ethernet tethering

Hi looking to resolve a problem that I can't find an answer to by using Google
I have a tablet running android 11 and have connected a USB c to Ethernet adapter. I have activated wifi and the tablet connects to my local office network. I have activated Ethernet tethering and plugged in a LAN cable to the adapter and the external device (ASIC computer).
The tablet is basically being used to provide wifi connectivity for the device.
I can log into the dashboard and it shows that the ASIC computer is connected and all is working normally BUT I have not found a way to log into the device.... mainly because I have not found a way to locate it's IP address.
I want to be able to configure the firmware on the device from the tablet. It is possible to do this by connecting the device to the router via a lan cable. I then find the IP address on my PC, but I would like to also use the tablet. Thanks
