You have to update your device manually. AT&T does not provide update, when you use another carrier sim.
Here is the AQF7 Firmware. I found it somewhere here in XDA. Download and update via ODIN. If you don`t want to lose your data, then put Home_CSC file in CSC tab.

Hello,
Many thanks for your help! I have updated the firmware successfully, I am glad I haven't lost my data I have put Home_CSC file in CSC tab. I have now AQF7 firmware. However, the navigation bar wasn't updated, how can I get the update for navigation bar?
Thanks,

Not sure. What you mean by Nav bar was not updated. Above AQF7, I guess you`re pretty limited to change the nav bar color and all. If you are talking about that update then, You have to update to AQG5 or AQG1. Same process by ODIN.

But not sure, This one has Nav bar updated.

Thank you for your reply!
I mean I cannot hide the navigation bar and I afraid from screen burn-in problem happen to my phone! Do you know if this version has Home_CSC file? The reason I am asking I do not want to lose my data after the upgrade. Is this version official AT&T like the one you provided me before?
Best Regards,

I don't think AT&T has rolled out the update with the navbar changes yet. You can flash the Xaa firmware on your AT&T and get the navbar changes and get update directly from samsung. Here a link if that interest you https://forum.xda-developers.com/att-galaxy-s8+/how-to/unlocked-version-firmware-galaxy-s8-t3607592

Could I be able to maintain my data using home_csc? I do not want to erase all data.
Thanks,

You can but, you could have issues. Try backing everything first with Smart Switch and Samsung cloud. Just in case you run into any problems.

Possible to convert flash SM-G930U firmware on a SM-930P?

Hey guys!
Yesterday I got a Sprint carried S7 SM-930P as a gift. The only problem is that although it works flawlessly on my sim cards (I'm not in the US), I found out that the 930P won't get the 7.0 update. Is it possible to flash the G930U firmware without messing my phone up?

I wouldn't do it unless your absolutely sure, I wouldn't be so sure if it's for a different model number. If they were able to have the same firmware flashed Samsung would just release it, they obviously didn't because it requires extra effort, pointing towards the conclusion that the firmware is not flashable on 930P

You can flash it, i have done it myself. There are many guides over here that tell you how. All S7s in the USA are the same exact thing hardware wise, only the software (firmware) is different. Am currently running SM-G930U firmware on an SM-G930VL S7. @op the sprint s7 (SM-G930P) already has android 7 as of last 3 weeks

Hey guys. I was able to flash the sm-g930u firmware downloaded from sammobile... the problem I have now.. I have a blank csc. No product code.. and on software updates it fails to register my device. Also in settings . I have some weird options. Which some of them are repeated. I will upload screenshots.. Also there's a system UPDATE option and also software option. Which one of them fails to register and the other only works with Wi-Fi. Should I revert back to my stock sprint firmware. If so do I need to wait for a firmware with same build date or newer. Because on sammobile haven't uploaded a firmware with a build date on par with the current install. Then I would have to wait right. ? If using a older firmware it will brick or do something to my phone ?

Hey Buddy. I would recommend doing a full back up on your phone., using Smart Switch app
It saves all your numbers, message, etc..
Then proceed to flash the latest firmware for the Region or Provider. Using (CSC) not (home_csc) which means flashing the csc will wipe your phone data. Phone will be like new again. Proceed tru set up. Loggin in gmail. Proceed to update smart switch app if not found in apps. Then restore from the back up file. And good to go.

actually all S7 are not the same hardware fyi. The Sm-g930p has chipsets snapdragon and uses cpu procesaor quad core but the sm-g930F has the chipset Exynos8 cpu is octa-CORE the chipsets vary from these two. Flashing firmware for one chipset to the other may cause major problems bot to mention bootloops.. but I looked up sm-g930U and it uses the same processor as the P model.snapdragon

He said all S7's in the USA are the same, which is correct. Exynos/930F isn't sold in the US, only way to get one is to grey import.
You can flash any USA model's firmware onto any other USA model because they're all the same hardware.
anyone running the 930p with current update how did you get around the binary 6 lock all the 930U firmware versions I can find are binary 4 I think t-mobile is 5. Anyone got links to a firmware we can push to sprint variants that are binary 6.

You can't get around it. It is currently impossible to "downgrade" the bootloader binary version. All US carrier variants are version 4, except Sprint that is 6. You are stuck.
The only way it would ever be possible is if (a) one of the carriers, in a future software update, increases their bootloader version to 6, or (b) if someone figures out how to unlock the bootloader for the Snapdragon models.
Neither of those options is likely to happen, ever. You might get lucky and hope the G930U unlocked version has a higher number (it hasn't been released for Oreo yet), but I wouldn't bet on it.

Blame Sprint; there is really no reason for them to do what they did except keep users from switching their phone to another carrier. This isn't a Samsung thing. I don't believe you would be able to do this with any other Android phone, either (i.e. go backwards in bootloader versions).

How to update AT&T S8+ outside USA? OTA isn't working

Hello,
I live in Belgium and have an unlocked AT&T S8+. It works fine, but OTA updates don't work: I'm still on the AQF7 firmware and yet it says "current software is up to date".
What are my options for updating the firmware? I would prefer a method that doesn't wipe my user data every time, and I need to avoid tripping KNOX or I won't be able to get work emails.
Thanks in advance,

Download the ota zips in the ADB thread here to get to the latest version AQJC.
Put them on your SD card and go into recovery and update the phone with each ota file.

Will this wipe my user data?
I read elsewhere that it might be possible to get OTA working by registering with an AT&T sim. It's a hassle but maybe worth it for automatic updates: would that work in Europe?

Yes it will wipe your data. No ota updates won't work outside of the US. Because the AT&T SIM needs to be on the AT&T network.

Ok. And could I flash an unbranded firmware and then get OTA updates from Samsung - would that work and can it be done without tripping knox?
Restoring all my data every time is a bore.

Could you please clarify this.
1. What is an unlocked firmware and how to identify it? (My LG V20 boot with animated AT&T logo. But I can use any SIM in it and works as normal)
2. I have heard that AT&T devices don't get updates outside from USA AT&T network because these updates are made by AT&T and deliver through their network only. Is that true?
3. If it is true, from where a device with unlocked firmware will receive updates? Who will build it?
Thank you.

It is possible to eliminate the Service Provider SW version from my SM-G955U1?

Folks,
Happy 2018,
Quick one:
I bought a locked ATT SM-G955U & reflashed it to a SM-G955U1 (currently on the latest December Security update) but the issue here is that despite doing this and eliminating ATT bloatware my phone continues to show Service Provider SW Ver. 9889544437594c3958 XAA//ATT
My buddy have an unlocked SM-G955U1 out of the box & there is no Service Provider information on his phone settings. He also gets all updates via OTA without issues, whereas I need to flash using ODIN manually which is not an issue for me but will be easier to get the OTA updates.
My phone is almost perfect but is there any possibility of flashing the specific CSC file for the SM-G955U1 on my SM-G955U transformed to a SM-G955U1?
I guess this was explained clearly.
Thanks for your support. XDA is the best.
SW, if listed as xaa/xaa/att...is what you wanted. The last three are always hardwired. I bought a T-Mobile U1 and switched it to Verizon. So mine now says vzw/vzw/tmo. If I read correctly in previous postings, you may still be forced to update manually, if on ATT. I believe...
If you flashed the files correctly in ODIN, then you wont see the provider version at all. It doesn't appear in the unlocked firmware. And you'll also get OTAs just fine. I know, because I bought a VZW 955U and flashed it with the unlocked 955U1 software.
Yup I can confirm too. I flashed the unlocked firmware to my spring g955u.
I can get OTA updates same with unlocked phone
Precisely .. I need to flash the correct one...

Updating unlocked s9+ (sm-g965u1)

Hi have the original US sprint version of the samsung s9+ which I had recently unlocked and unbranded from an unlocking service through team viewer. The model number is now SM-G965U1 and the baseband version is G965U1UEU3ARG7. I noticed on websites like sammobile that there are updates to this software for this phone model. When I click update software on the phone it states that I have the latest one. Is this normal or should it be able to update to later firmwares such as ARK5? I am using a t-mobile sim card in the phone currently. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

OTA software updates are controlled by your carrier, in your case, it is T-Mobile.
If T-Mobile does not offer an update for SM-G965U1, you will not get a notification to update and it will not find any updates when you check for them.
But, if there are updates for that model number available to download from Sammobile, just download the firmware and flash it via Odin onto your device.
Note:
When the unlocking service unlocked your device, they might have only used a small part of the software from S-G965U1 and not the entire firmware because the entire firmware might not be compatible with the model that your device originally was.
For example, they may have only used the bootloader from SM-965U1 or only the system.img or only the modem.img or any combination but not the entire firmware, if this is the case, flashing the entire firmware might cause issues.
I would email the unlocking service and ask them if the entire SM-G965U1 firmware can be flashed or at least ask what files were used in the unlocking process and which parts of SM-G965U1 firmware are safe to use or not.

I don't think you understand how things work when it comes to updates on android devices. It isn't like a Windows PC where any and all new updates are offered/pushed via Windows Update to every device that has Windows installed.
OTA updates are controlled and offered by your carrier, you will only get the update if your carrier CHOOSES to offer the update to devices on their network.
Just because your device manufacturer has released an update, does not necessarily mean that your specific mobile carrier will offer it to their customers, some devices never receive updates from the carrier for "this" or "that" device whereas other carriers would offer the update to those devices.
It's all a matter of who your carrier is, not what device you have.
For example, Samsung could release an update for S9+, then "this" carrier could choose to offer the update to the S9+ devices on their network and they would be able to update via OTA update through system settings.
Or
Samsung could release an update for S9+ but "that" carrier could refuse to offer the OTA update to devices on their network. In this case, the device can still be updated by manually downloading the update via the internet and then manually flashing the update via Odin, instead of via OTA update through system settings.
To put this in perspective in comparison to a Windows PC vs android, if Windows Updates were handled the same way that android updates are handled.......
The way android updates are offered by your carrier, for Windows PC, the equivalent of this would be Microsoft offering Windows Updates but then the updates only being available based on who your internet service provider is. In this theoretical example, your internet service provider may or may not allow the update to be installed on your system. If your service provider doesn't allow the Windows Update to be installed through their network, you would have to manually download the update and install it yourself instead of using the Windows Update Service to install the update automatically.
Does this help you understand how the update system is handled when it comes to android updates?

Missing software update UI option

I have an unlocked U1 that I flashed with ATT for the CSC. I idly went looking for the software update option today, and couldn't find it. Under Settings there's no software update or system update, and when I search on it from settings I can't find it. Did I break something when I flashed? It seems to work great otherwise.

Yes, if you flash different CSC you will lose Software Update option.. you have to continue using Odin to update...
Got it, thanks!
