Moto G Dual sim Switch on off with data selection - Moto G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Moto g 1st gen 1033. I have a very weird problem. I used to get calls and have both sims working fine with no data (as i dont need it and these are both prepaid so expensive). However now Sim 1 works only.
HOWEVER this is the weird part - when i select SIM 2 data to on, Sim 1 turns off and sim 2 turns on (with data and calls etc)!???? WHen i select data off on sim 2 (which is now working to get calls etc) then data turns off and calls etc remain on. Then data when i want Sim1 i have to select data on with sim 1 then sim 2 turns off and Sim 1 is now working with data. Then if i turn off data on sim1 then Sim 1 still works (but obviously no data) BUT sim 2 is still totally off for calls etc.
SO it cant be a SIM issue and it cant be a physical issue with the sim card or sim slot. THey are both 3g cards/carriers and have full coverage. Please help this phone was working fine until a few months ago and i can use either sim but need to go through the above process if i want either sim card. PLEASE HELP and thanks heaps in advance. PS im new to this forum but is seems like the best one on the web for real issues.

Hey, i solved it only after a lot of hair pulling. Lucky i didnt wipe everything as theres nothing wrong with the phone or SIMs. I didnt realise that moto g on one sim its 3g the other only ever works on 2g. Unbeknownst to me Australia is getting rid of 2g. So ONLY one sim works as the moto g can only support one sim working 3g and since no 2g you have one sim not working as above problem. So you have to play around with switching data which then switches the 3g/2g combination by itself BUT its very fiddly so you either dumb the other sim and not use it or get a moto 4 or 5 which support TWO 3g sims. Im supprised this hasnt been discussed anywhere on the web or anywhere i have been looking. Cheers

[Q] Xoom 3g sim card problem

Wondering if anyone can help, im using team Eos European 3g rom zoom. now i tried 1 sim card and the 3g works perfectly but when i try my other sim, i enter the pin code on screen , it accepts it, then immediately says "Sim card removed, the mobile network will be unavailable until you restart...." .
The sim card definitely isnt broken because it works in my phone and 3g modem on my pc. I've tried restarting the xoom with Wifi off and no luck.
Thanks

how old is that "other" sim card? Reason I'm asking is that sim cards use different voltages and old cards tend to cause problems in modern devices.
Around here, providers usually swap sims for free if you say that you've got a problem with one, so I'd go for an exchange if your sim is older that maybe two years...

Its actually brand new, got it on the weekend. It works perfectly everywhere else. I think i'll go to the provider anyway today and see if i can try a sim swap.
This really is baffling me now. I went back to the providers store and tried a different one of their sim cards and it doesnt work either. I just cant understand why my xoom can read certain providers sim cards and not others? (Its definitely not network locked). Could it possibly be the type of sim card (as in a 32k vs 64k etc)?
Any help would be greatly appreciated

[Q] Dual standby issue

I recently faced (4G network not working, dual standby not working)
I was using LTE sim card on slot 1, normal 2G sim on solt 2 and both were working perfectly, just before 4 days I noticed that the LTE signal disappeared and even the network name went to (No Service), then I used both 2G sim card with same results, from the SIM management :
1- if 4G/3G slot Card 2 = then Sim 1 is working fine / Sim 2 No Service
2- if 4G/3G slot Card 1 = then Sim 2 is working fine / Sim 1 No Service
i've made factory reset in many ways soft and hard, reinstalled the original rom via SD card then update it to the latest version and still the same resaults,
your support is appreciated :crying:

NOTE: this happened after the latest update to B123
When install original rom & then factory reset & clear all cache etc you still have same issue or is it working again while on original rom.
Would suggest looking at network settings as needs like auto or gsm mode to work with 2g card so perhaps defaults are different in new rom or been changed by something.
Would also try some more sim cards just to rule out sim or network issue.
Worse case is hardware fault :-/

Many thanks for your reply,
actually i tried many 2G as well 4G sim cards , also I've checked all the settings and possibilities, but as you mentioned most probably it is HW issue
Sorry to here that, hopefully you have return/warranty option.
Kind of reason I holding off buying one till price lowers as living in asia I know the failure risk on the chinese brand phones. Huawei not as bad as oppo but in EU, US etc if you buying without good/easy warranty/return it can be major $ loss .

Dual SIM tethering or DATA from SIM 1 to SIM 2

Hello.
I searched without finding an answer.
I have one SIM plan coming with VOIP application working through DATA and WiFi, this application only works with its own SIM, cannot use another one because it check it.
But when i travel to others country often cannot use WiFi, and DATA roaming is very too expensive compares to buying a local SIM plan.
To those who hold a Dual SIM smartphone, can you use the DATA of one SIM from the other SIM ?
Can you activate WiFi tethering from one SIM then try to connect to it from second SIM ?
About WiFi, i thing it's not possible because cannot transmit and receive at same time.

Hey,
Let me get this clear, what you mean is, you buy a local SIM with a data plan, and then you try to share this DATA with your current sim right?, well, answer is simple, use two phones, and tether your internet from one to another.
Hope this help you.
Stay Cool...
Hello.
Yes you right, great answer, thank you.

Dropping calls on sim2

Hi everyone,
First post so be gentle
I got my dual sim honor 8 some months ago as I dont want to carry 2 phones around with me.
My personal sim and the phone are with Three UK and my work sim is with EE.
The three sim is in slot 1 and the EE simin slot 2 and I am finding the calls keep dropping for no reason on the EE sim. I can be in an area with full signal but when the call drops I cant dial out or receive calls. The phone goes to dial but just sits with the calling screen and then fails to connect.
After I have moved it works again, its generally happening in the same places too but places that shouldnt be an issue.
Whilst the sim 2 is in this condition I can still call out from sim 1 (Three) and this problem never occurs on sim 1 (Three).
I have tried swapping the sims over but the problem remains with the EE sim. I have tried to swap the 4g priority over but the Three sim is 3g only so wont work as the secondary sim.
I have spoken with my work IT and they have replaced the EE sim but this hasnt fixed it, I have called Three tech support who have reset this and reset that and run diagnostics and say nothing wrong with the handset.
Any ideas or any one else experienced this?
Many thanks
If it's from the EE sim card, then it's from them I believe

Could it be a temporary problem on their side?
Why don't you ask EE customer service?!

Hi,
I have and they advise no fault, they have even replaced the sim card to rule this out.
Just try with a 3rd operator on both SIM slots: that will rule out hardware problems.
As for 3G/4G, operators use different bands, but you shouldn't have any problem.

Issue with Mobile data dropping during call

Hi,
I am facing this problem for long and have not found any solution.
I am using Jio sim in SIM 1 slot and Airtel in SIM 2 slot. I am using Jio sim for 4G data connection. Whenever I receive call on any SIM the 4G data connection drop. Not sure what is the issue.
Please advice.
Always been this way, since new? How long have you had it?

2 months. So should I take it as there is no solution.
My guess, and it is a guess, is that when you have a dual sim phone, and a call comes in on one line, the other line (including data) is temporarily shut down? Do you know other folks with dual sim in your area and how their phones data works with two lines when a call comes in?
