Memory leaks?? - Sony Xperia XZ Questions & Answers

Recently bought this XZ first handed but without any UBL or rooting it comes with a horrible memory leak (>95% average RAM usage and Android System (Native, Kernel, Caches) accounts for almost half of the reading)...
I am assuming that Device Encryption should be the cause for this behaviour but I just don't want to reset my data just to disable Device Encryption..
Are there any of you people also have this problem on .35 and apart from resetting my phone is there and other measures I call take to control this leak?
Thanks!

[Q] galaxy tab plus lag

I bought this tablet last week, but the problem is...it's very laggy when you play it for 30 minutes. so I rooted my tab and install antutu cpu master, it runs on 1200 mhz but after playing it for approximately 20 minutes, it stuck on 500 mhz. the question is, how can I fix this issue? thx before
edit : this tab runs on 500 mhz when I played games (any games)
Funny you would mention it, because for me its been a bit laggy since the firmware update I got some time ago.

if you wish to fix this issue then you will need to flash the xxkl7 Malaysia firmware but you will loose high speed data coverage unless you have wifi only then your fine haha its the only know release of stock firmware not to have SOD or any other meager issues... it worked for me.
if it works thanks me
for CPU issue, I think the latest tegra donate version supports our device.
other recommendations:
deodex, zipalign. remove bloat. get a startup manager. wipe caches and reboot.
I have the same lag happen to me frequently

[Q] Android 4.2.2 Newest firmware

Hello I'm currently on the 15.3.A.0.26 update. As far as I know Sony released an update on their 4.2.2. Is it worth updating? Because I got a custom kernel so I cannot download the rom from the update center.
Thanks.
All upon you. Yes, there are don't bugs like the proximity sensor bug but those can be easily fixed. Yeah, camera has also improved a bit. Not much changes though, if you're satisfied with your kernel I don't recommend you to update.
Your choice to be honest.
I have a question.
Im using stock 0.26 with thunderzap 3.1 kernel. rooted BL unlocked, of course.
But just now Update center notified me of the 1.12 update is available. Its just 40MB
Can I update it through the air and then reflash thunderzap? I wont lost any data and apps, right?
edit: just realized I would also have to reroot, right? but its no problem, riiight?

No - And it´s getting a bit frustrating i might add.
Check out Sammobile - It has become increasingly & annoyingly difficult to swing a dead cat around you without hitting obscure carrier specific KitKat updates left & right.
But 5 entire nordic countries?? Ohh - No.
We ought to contact Amnesty International and get "Update With holding" registered as an official form of torture. :silly:
At the very least it might have been usefull as an "Improved interrogation technique" at Guantanamo! :crying:
Regards
Elo.
I personally don't see any point in upgrading to KitKat as per now as it messes up more stuff than it actually "fix". NO move to SDcard support, battery drain for no apparent reason, locked bootloader and so on.
Correct me if I am wrong...
Seems like we are forgotten by sammy. Kitkat came in january and now 3 months later still nothing. Out last update was in december. lol.
I dont really need kitkat, but i need samsung to support my phone and now its been a lot of new fw's and nothing to NEE...
I just run the Polish version, works fine, except it's a battery hog.
i'm wondering why it takes 3-4 month to roll-out update for all regions !!!
really why ?

Just did upgrade via OTA. Now running N9005XXUENC2. Build number KOT49H.N9005XXUENC2. Kernel 3.4.0-636608.
As expected not much have changed. Didn't do factory reset yet, i guess that is recommended? How about all the settings and saved games etc, those should be backed up?

You can try going without a reset - if there are no problems then you have no need to wipe the phone. If you have issues or sudden battery drain or something then do a reset. Apps and saved games can be backed up with Titanium Backup if you are rooted or I use Helium which works without root. Not sure if it saves settings - I try to never restore settings if I go to a different version so I haven't tested this.
I'm gonna do a factory reset 3 times as I did after the MJ7 disaster, it really helped with my battery life (not alot but a little).
I could usually squeeze out 6,7 hours of screen time on 10% this pales in comparison to MJ3 but I'll write here once I have some results.

Mobile Radio Killing Battery Lollipop

Hi guys
Since going to Lollipop (not sure if was present since 5.0.2 too) my battery life has been pathetic compared to before. Currently i am on 5.1.1 and i struggle to get a day use out of the phone (i ALWAYS have it on STAMINA mode). However previously i would get 2 days use out of my phone easy with 6 hours SOT. Im wondering is it worth going back to 5.0.2 or should i just go back to kitkat and if so, how? I downloaded the firmware but not sure how to get my phone into recovery mode. My phone is stock, i have tried turning phone with volume button down but doesnt work.
Btw my usage has not been any different, don't have facebook, use my phone for Whatsapp, web browsing, music and thats about it
So basically should i go back to 5.0.2 or KK is the question? what are your guys experiences.
Flash Xposed, use Mobile Radio Active Fix module. Disable fast dormancy, too, for good measure.
Or wait for 6.0.

Does the fix actually work? I thought it just masked/hid it?
Try another 5.1.1 rom ?

I can't tell yet, not enough time has passed since I installed it.
If battery life is your priority then go back to kitkat. It will last longer than lollipop.
May have to.
5.0.2 does seem better already but not as good as KK. However I'm wondering do all apps still support KK and work as normal?

Most should. Check out the apps on Google Play and it will have what android versions are supported.
Having 5.0.2 installed for a few days now battery life does seem to be improved abit however it still doesn't keep on going like KK. Having said that, android M should be released soon (hopefully) so may wait for that
Google only recently acknowledged the Mobile Radio Active bug on Lollipop, on the 15th of Sept I believe they finally assigned a dev to look into it. By the time it's fixed I suppose Android M will be out, which is also affected but apparently they fixed it in recent updates.
I thought they were supposed to address the issue in android M

They are, but with the amount of anger on the bug tracker they assigned a dev for Lollipop as well, I think its the same person infact.
I thought they recognised the problem back in May or something? I think i may just hold out for Android M 6.0 but it is really frustrating to know every Lollipop rom/software has that bug.
The bug report was filed long back but was not officially recognized/accepted on Lollipop till mid Sept.
Okay after several days on 5.0.2 my battery is no better it still is a joke, going to revert to KK.

after you reverted to 5.0.2 did you go into recovery and clear cache and dalvik? Then allow a week to settle down?
Bug has been there from 5.0.x to 5.1.x. I'm very disappointed that Sony hasn't done something about it.

Fingerprint hardware not available

Every once in a while the fingerprint scanner would stop working for no apparent reason until I reboot. I'm rooted with repacked stock kernel /w DRM patch + xposed (see attachments).
It could be possibly related to xposed... Give it a try without

I have the same issue only in one instance - after long time playing Marvel Future Fight (I'm uninstalling Xposed app before and restore after playing - game has Xposed detection). I assume that makes it possibly related to heavy CPU usage or temperature rise?
Issue was not present on Lollipop with the same setup (game + Xposed tricks).
I have the same issue.
It appears sometimes at morning, after night, and I must reboot the phone.
Note : I haven't Xposed since my last reset, the 4th April.
To add to the above, another freshly installed game triggered it, but it barely uses any rescources.
I have the same issue on my Z5C after upgrading to Marshmallow. I'm on 32.1.A.1.163, use Xposed and the androplus kernel 3.10.84-v21. Perhaps it's fixed in the .185 version of MM?
same issue, z5 dual, mm, rooted and DRM restored, xposed frame installed.
seems it is too hurry for us update to MM this time, i've encounterd some many bugs and failures.
For people who are encountering the problem, do you keep your bootloader unlocked or you relocked it after flashing the repacked stock kernel? It could be an issue with the DRM fix.
I'm probably removing the DRM fix and lock my BL this weekend to see how it goes.

I'm having this issue to on Aura's ROM Z5P Dual - looking forward to hearing your results!
I'm having this problem on stock 32.1.A.1.163 without root or xposed, but unlocked bl. I have to reboot and sometimes re-authenticate my fingerprint in LastPass
I wonder if @tobias.waldvogel would know something? It sounds like this is related to the DRM Keys. As far I I know Auras' rom has this baked into it but there might be something missing!
Also experiencing this. I have freshly flashed .185 and Z5 Compact. Unlocked BL, DRM fix and no root.

I wonder if this has anything to do with Doze. Seeing a lot of Nexus 5x and Nexus 6p users complaining about this as well, and some theorizing it has to do with doze. I undozed the 3 items related to fingerprint scanner in battery optimization....we'll see if that helps.
Now I think this is an AOSP issue rather than Sony's fault

Hi
I can confirm that this is not related to xposed as i have freshly flashed my Z5 DUAL E6683 with latest MM .185, rooted with drm fix from @tobias.waldvogel, and have not flashed xposed just yet.
This happened to me today for the first time just after i was listening to youtube video in shazam, then shazam crashed. few minutes later i try to unlock my phone and it says fingerprint hardware not available.
Not sure why this is happening? im pretty sure this is a bug in MM, as rebooting sorted the issue out. i really hope this doesnt happen again because the fingerprint is very handy!.
anyone else find a fix for this??
Since "undozing" the 3 items related to fingerprint scanner in Battery optimization, I have not seen this happen again.
