I often use "All in one gestures" app to customize button actions, but don't know whether it works or not on Mate 9.
Did anyone check it out by chance?
Also, do you know any other way to customize button actions?
I usually set home button long-press to turn the screen off, and back button long-press to popup menu (i.e. the three dots menu).
Thanks for any hint!
If Xposed for Nougat is working on the Mate 9 ( I haven't found out if it does for sure yet) the you can use Gravity Box module to do all sorts for 2nd and even 3rd functions. I always liked having hold back for sleep/screen off and hold recents for screenshot personally.

Xposed is working right now although GB need to be released for Nougat. If you just need their simple feature, flash Kangvip and you will have all thing as you said above.

Oh nice. Thanks. How did you install Xposed? Just flash the zip and install the app on a rooted device?
Ok got Xposed running. Kang breaks my system, I'm on C567B190 so not supported yet apparently. Good thing I had a backup to restore .
There is a Gravity box for Nougat available as an app install. I'm going to give it a try.

As I was trying to take a screenshot of this to make a thread about how ridiculous Verizon is, I accidentally booted into safe mode.

I pressed down the home button + volume down a few times, and that is how it happened. Perhaps devs already knew this. Here is a guide anyways.
1. Start phone
2. Once you hit Verizon screen (or any screen past bootloader screen), either hold down power + volume down, or press it a few times.
Note that doing this will reset your wallpaper and folders.
What good comes out of this?

I figured the devs could find a good use for it.

I normally boot into it by accident as well lol.
if the phone is running, simply longpress the "Power off" prompt after you get the phone options popup. I believe it disables all the third party (Downloaded/sideloaded/etc...) apps.

This is correct. It's a good way to troubleshoot the phone and see if 3rd party apps are causing an issue

There is no Dotted Buttons. Please Give me some solution
Please respond this I'll surely give you more reps :good:
I think that when you have a hardware menu key the app detects this and doesn't display the 3 dotted menu button (since there would be no need if you have a hardware one)
If you are rooted, may I suggest button savior: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=865525
It does work without root, but I'm not sure if the menu button is supported, you'd need to try and see

Not that I know of. If you are not rooted then there won't really be much you can do
If you are rooted take a look at LMT launcher: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1330150
Both these apps won't add the 3 dotted menu in but act as a hovering app that will allow you to use a different method to function as the menu button.

Ok,I'll root my Mobile and try that.
I come from a Nexus 4, i'm used to its buttons layout (back-home-recents) but i didn't want to waste screen estate enabling the virtual navigation bar.
I already remapped (inverted) "back" capacitive key with "menu", so now i have "back" on the left now and "menu" on the right. Then i remapped (from cm12's settings\buttons) the "menu" key to "recents".
All fine.. now recent apps appear when i press "menu". But how do i force the overflow menu (three dots) to appear?
I tried to add qemu.hw.mainkeys=0 to build.prop but this way it shows the navigation bar (and all apps have a menu in them).
Is there a way i can make the 3 dots menu appear without forcing the navigation bar?
I've read something about changing "hasPermanentMenuKey" to return as false so that the system automatically displays the overflow menus but i'm not sure how to do that or if that's even correct.
In summary: I'd like menus to appear in apps.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

as far as i can judge you are still on 4.4.4 CM11S. If you are rooted try Xposed Framework with Noverflow Module.
Worked for me. Now on Lollipop there is no Xposed
edit: sorry understood your situation wrong... I thought you want to hide the overflow menu. I had the opposit problem, wanted to remove the overflow menu because I activated additional menu key in navbar. But there is always a xposed module to resolve a problem

thanks for the reply, i forgot to mention i'm currently using CM12 (Lollipop)
from what i read, Noverflow does exactly the opposite, am i wrong?
it removes all overflow menus, i'm trying to enable them instead.
I'm referring to the physical button to the left of the home button. I hardly ever use the recent button, but definitely use the menu button. For example, if I want to access settings for Nova launcher, I now have to navigate to the setting vs just tapping "menu".
Set a gesture in Nova to launch Nova settings. That's the easiest way.

Nope. No option to add "menu" button in Nova either. Even more frustrating with Nova, the expand notifications feature doesn't seem to work with gestures. My favorite feature of Nova is the ability to swipe down from anywhere and get to notifications. No longer possible on s6.....yet.
I have no idea what you're referring to. Both definitely work lol. Look below swipe down for expand in options.
I also definitely have a swipe up gesture on the app drawer to launch Nova settings with just a swipe.

I enabled that feature. swiped down, nothing. Then I decided to try double tap from anywhere to access notification; also nothing. If it's working for you, then maybe I have a bad version. Maybe you can check your version? I'm on v 5.0.2
I'm running the beta version actually from the Google plus community. Maybe that's why. Give it a try.

Found the beta and it's working now. THANKS!
I have XT1225 running on stock 6.0. The problem is even though I close an application, they are running in background and draing the battery causing lag sometimes. Even though I clear recents one by one thers's no change. I noticed that my phone is getting hot with this. Is there any possibility of killing background apps or any tweak to get the clear recents button without root? Even after a reboot the apps are running. I dont want to root my device and void my warranty. Any suggestions or help is appreciated.. Thank you..

You have to root, install xposed framework and Gravity Box module. That module will give you custom ROM features like "clear all recents" -- and many others. You can activate as many or as few other features in Gravity Box you want.
This is if you want to stay on "stock" ROM. You will still have to unlock bootloader, root and install software.
I ran Gravity Box until we got real custom ROMs. This was Gravity Box for Kitkat, which I used. Make sure you use the one for Marshmallow.
