As I was trying to take a screenshot of this to make a thread about how ridiculous Verizon is, I accidentally booted into safe mode.

I pressed down the home button + volume down a few times, and that is how it happened. Perhaps devs already knew this. Here is a guide anyways.
1. Start phone
2. Once you hit Verizon screen (or any screen past bootloader screen), either hold down power + volume down, or press it a few times.
Note that doing this will reset your wallpaper and folders.
What good comes out of this?

I figured the devs could find a good use for it.

I normally boot into it by accident as well lol.
if the phone is running, simply longpress the "Power off" prompt after you get the phone options popup. I believe it disables all the third party (Downloaded/sideloaded/etc...) apps.

This is correct. It's a good way to troubleshoot the phone and see if 3rd party apps are causing an issue

I just downloaded this. I have already mapped my buttons as needed. However, I constantly find myself looking for options to add something new - New Contact, New Meeting, etc. So I will just put this as one of the items righ on my strart menu and will give it a little workout! I will report back to let everyone know how it goes...
works good
It works good, just have to make sure it's installed on the device not the mem card.
Thank you .

It's not work with my Wizard without any error notice. Nothing happen when I click HTC Action icon...
how do you quit the application without chosing any of the actions...there is no close button...
now I'm using red button to end conversation and then forcing it to close with taskmanager.

Doesn't work on my Tilt
Every time I try to run HTC Action on my AT&T Tilt, it brings up an error saying:
'The file 'HTCActionScreen' cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. If the problem persists, try reinstalling or restoring this file.'
I've done reinstalls a few times, with soft resets, etc. I just cannot get it to work.
My co-worker has the same phone and his works fine.
Any ideas?
Changing Font
For some reason the font for the HTC action isn't the same as the one in the picture. How can I change the font?

Has anyone discovered a way to keep the screen on longer while on a call?
Is there any way to change this? If I missed another post on this I apologize. Thanks
You can use power manager in the Google Marketplace

One of the best 99 cent app I've ever purchased. Support the Dev, he just lost his job, and the app kicks ass.
Yeah, Power Manager has the option to a max of 2 minutes, but it has never worked for me, it always times out waaay earlier.

i use shake awake free app that causes your phone to turn back on if you move it a certain amount, you can ajust the sensitivity to howevver much you like. mine basically stays on if the phone moves at all while i am on a call
Awesome I will try these. Thanks for the responses.
Power manager doesn't change the timeout for the screen during calls. The only way to change that currently is using the shake program mentioned above. I use both programs and love both of them so when power manager doesn't help with the screen timeout during a call use it for all the other great benefits and select monitor so it can apply the different profiles (which you can customize) for all the situations.
I tired these apps they both seem to work pretty well, any ideas on how this could be done without using an app?

Excuse me for this dumb question. I remember seeing a rom which gives options to turn on/off "background data" and "auto sync" in the power button menu(the one that appears after you hold down the power button). I've been looking around but couldn't find it. Does anyone know which rom provides that feature?

With the ROM you are running, couldn't you set up a shortcut or power widget to do that?
On the not too heavily modifed VictoryRom, you can create the shortcut or power widget toggle for that option on the screen.
CM7 also has a wide variety of toggle to choose from.
I use a dataswitch from market...better than switching ROMs
Yeah they're good solutions but I personally hate widgets, they're like bloatware to me. I just remember saying "Damn I gotta flash this later!!!" and too bad I forgot to bookmark it.

You can find one such as tasker.. (Don't ask me how to use it.. never bothered to figure it out) that don't require you to use widgets. There are many solutions.. you don't NEED widgets. He was just saying that would provide an easy way to access it without the ios way..
The only one I've used that has those options available for the power menu is CM7. Might have been another, but not that I've run. Miui might have it, but I'm not sure.

SauroM has these toggles in the power options and also the notification pull down, I do believe.

Hi there. Recently, ads that look like the image above have been popping up insistently on my phone. Every single time i pick it up after an interval, the ad pops up and takes up the whole screen, unless i click "no, thanks" or "Back" or "Home" it won't go away.
I'm getting very frustrated and i have uninstalled about 90% of my apps. I installed cleanmaster to clean my system cache to get rid of any unwanted files and i run it all the time. I've also tried all the ad blockers/detectors on the play store but they cannot detect any sign of malicious software.
Any advice? I would really hate to do a factory reset but i would like to know the cause of the problem, if it's an app. What's the point of having an android if i can't install any apps?!
Any ideas on how i can get to the root of the problem? It's frustrating as f***.
what happens if you press the recents button? does it show any app or just not respond?

It opens a webpage. One of those annoying "contest" websites where you are asked to do quizzes or enter your number to win a prize.

Hum... It's on your side, not Android... You obviously downloaded something...
It's an app for sure, but we cant help you unless you show us the list of your remaining apps.
When you find it, just uninstall it. No need to clear cash or anything, it wont make a difference anyway. And if you got it from google play, you should report it since it is against their guidelines. https://support.google.com/googleplay/answer/2479847?hl=en
If it is not from the play store e.g. some pirate app, I dont feel sorry for you... If it's a legitimate app from outside the playstore you should raise your concern with the developer.
Guys,
Very annoying problem on my Verizon HTC One M8 (1.55.605.2).
Sorry for the noob-like question, but I want to disable the lock screen and I can't seem to disable it. I know, I know ... It sounds ridiculous, but I'm wondering if the last OTA update disabled the feature. I'm not rooted, yet. Part of the process is to disable lock screens and while trying to do so, I can't. Grrrr....
I go to Security, Screen Security section and just below that I'm supposed to see the "No Lock Screen" option. What's up with that?! Any advice and/or workaround would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
I'm on the same update, no root, no S-off (yet). Settngs > Security > Screen Lock > No Lock Screen is there for me, does what it advertises.
You don't see this when you click on screen security?

Yes, I see the options, but the top three are greyed out for whatever reason. I'm ready to reset the damn phone. I have no clue why that changed and it's probably something stupid I did while playing around with the phone. :silly:

Did you setup the phone to synch with an Exchange server? If so, that is likely the cause.

Oh Shiznitz! That was it! I confirmed by resetting the phone and when setting up the access to the corporate email, it greyed out the options. Interesting. Thanks for that little nugget of information.
