Hey all,
Earlier I had downloaded a zip file from the guide that's stickied in another thread here on XDA.
I renamed the file, and copied it to my address card, then booted to download mode and started the flash sequence. This erased everything on the phone.
What did I do wrong? Was I supposed to flash the zip via TWRP instead of flashing via download mode? Thanks in advance for any tips and advice
Sounds like you flashed a RUU
Tip: Don't flash a RUU to update if you don't want to start fresh.
Advice: double check what you are downloading.
Lol hope that helps.

Thanks for the reply. What should I be flashing then?
In that Google spreadsheet, there are tabs at the top. Click on the one that says firmware.

Thank you! I didn't even notice the tabs. And to confirm, the only way to flash firmware without wiping is to be S-OFF? Or is dirty flashing acceptable?

Modified or unsigned firmware needs S-off. Look for signed-Firmware.zip
The signed firmware will not wipe phone.

I'm sorry for my confusion. The firmware files look like they are incremental updates lose to 100mb. I also cannot seem to find the signed zip files? And do I flash the signed zip (once I find it) within TWRP or Download mode? Your help is much appreciated..

Haven't looked inside the tabs lately, however they should all be signed firmware, as we do not have s-off yet. Firmware is flashed in download mode.

No there are no signed packages. Those on the sheet are unsigned combined ones in preparation of hopefully getting S-OFF sometime.
With respect to signed firmware packs. To make sure nothing goes wrong one would have to flash them one after another in the exact order of the OTA updates that came out. Regarding the risk of a brick if I'd provide them and someone shouldn't read the OP of my collection thread carefully I pulled them all.
If it would be possible to resign firmware packs it mightbe possible to create combined packages just like the ones for S-OFF. But as we don't know how to sign them there actually is no way of realising those.

My friend wants the official ics rom on his sensation.
It says that there is an update available but the text is something with twitter.
I tried to do that but after the download the phone reboots into 4ext and does nothing.
The phone WAS rooted.
I unrooted it by installing a ruu something.
I cant find the website where I can download al the official firmwares.
I've read something about that the md5 checksum is important.
5e5c95599080d31db7f660eebd17ffe2
Thats the md5 checksum
I will attach a picture of software information.
I hope somebody can help me.
Thanks!
if the phone is totally stock, and by that i mean no S-OFF, ROOT, Custom ROM, CID changed, you can go to htc.com, customer service, do a live chat, say you want the latest RUU for your sensation, they'll ask for your serial number, it's under the battery (S/N), and they will link you to a direct download. UNLESS official OTA hasn't reached you yet......also you should remove 4EXT, but flashing an RUU "should" do the trick..

It will replace 4ext recovery with your original stock recovery which is required for applying OTA updates.
You can use the same procedure with the recovery.img of 4ext recovery to flash 4ext again after the ICS update.

I don't think my friend wants it rooted.
He never flashes something new. like roms or mods you know.
I will leave it stock for him.
Now i have to wait untill tomorrow, because htc live support is offline now.
Do you know any other way to get the ota?

Hey,
Last night I got a system update message and on reboot it loaded clockworkmod and now I can't install the update
I rooted and installed the mod before but I never use it...
How can I disable clockworkmod or deleting it so I can get the official update (I would much prefer that)
Thanks,
PS. I have read other posts about this online but the problem have been slightly different and with other phones so the wrong files, i'm guessing

I'm guessing the OTA you got was to software version 3.33.401.153?
If yes just download and run the RUU exe from here. This will put you on that software version.

no, 3.33.401.106 is the next one then it is 3.33.401.153
However, you can just flash the RUU and it will put you on 3.33.401.153 without having to flash 3.33.401.106 - also because you are rooted the OTA file may fail to run whereas the RUU wont.

Regardless of whether my hoster's website is down, my FTP remains up so you can still download the file using the link I posted. Its self explanatory and comes with instructions within the installer, it will wipe your phone so I would suggest doing a nandroid backup of data only then restoring data from a custom recovery (you will have to reflash the custom recovery after the RUU has finished because it will return you to stock recovery)

I think with an app like that you need root to use it (Titanium backup needs root) and to root you still need a custom recovery so I would just recommend the method I suggested but apart from that the method is correct

'ERROR [155~159]: IMAGE ERROR'... One of these error messages will appear when you use the incorrect RUU to update and the image file size is larger than the Flash ROM size. In this case, download the correct RUU version and try again.

Sorry, I meant the benefit to this latest HBoot version that was released with Lollipop. To me, it seems like there seems to be no functional differences to Hboots. I end up flashing the latest one for the hell of it, but always wondered what improvements it brought.
For whatever reason, I was always afraid to flash this mod, because it was unnecessary. I got tired of that red text and finally flashed it today. I'm not even uncomfortable with fastboot at this point, having flashed a few updated radios and having to reflush them. Oh, not to mention firewater.
That was probably the easiest fastboot flash. And totally worth it to get the red text gone. Thanks!

For starters I posted a 5.0.1 firmware zip in tigerstowns firmware thread that actually contains the latest twrp all in one shot. Then there are many roms you can chose to flash. Take your pick but get firmware updated first. Make sure you do the one with twrp 2.8.5 included. Older twrp on new firmware will cause you some pretty bad issues.

Not for flashing via twrp.
Hey there fellow U11 Users,
I just received the update concerning 60fps HD-Video etc. I use TWRP so the update can't be installed by itself. So I have two questions:
A
Where do I find the update file. I looked around a lot but couldn't locate it.
B
Once found, can I just flash it with TWRP?

list your steps your using to install the ota via twrp....personally, I let the system initiate the install (booted into OS) as if I was 100% stock, once twrp loads, it automatically installs except for the firmware.zip
more details here...
OK, I am a Noob to the HTC world. I am used to easy flashing/rooting/etc. on Nexus devices.
TWRP doesn't do anything after accepting the ota. When I try to install the OTA via TWRP I receive Error 7. I worked my way through a lot of guides here on XDA concerning manual OTA installing. One thing I tried was flashing back to stock recovery which I found in the firmware.zip of the OTA in bootloader mode. That failed also ("FAILED (remote: not allowed on PRODUCTION device).
Edit: The device has obviously an unlocked bootloader, s-on, rooted via magisk and is a DGLU device, software number 1.16.400.5
Are you on an Untouched System Image? Completely stock ROM? While it is great we can flash the OTA in TWRP, the system stills needs to be stock, and of course will still have to fastboot firmware.

Yes, everything is stock.
I managed to flash the stock recovery now. I didn't remember to use the download mode /sorry. Then Then I checked for the ota again, downloaded it and tried to apply but I landed in the stock recovery with the red exclamation mark and then nothing happened.

Same result unfortunately. TWRP hands out Error 7 and "system partition has unexpected contents" or something like that although I didn't do any tinkering with the stock rom. I flashed Magisk and did a backup before and that was all.

Only thing I would say is start fresh. Backup all the data for your apps first. Flash the RUU, Take the OTA and reinstall all your apps.
