how to disable light sensor for optimus 3d?
You mean the light sensor that controls the brightness of your screen or the light sensor that detects when you are in a call and turns off the screen?
I'm pretty sure you can disable the first one by just turning off Auto Brightness. The second one can't be disabled as far as I know.

Well, I was also wondering because when you turn the phone in talking position but away from your ear the screen is still on, when you get close to the ear the screen get off right away...
Can you change the delay on the proximity sensor at all? When I move the phone away from my head it takes a good few seconds for the screen to come back on meaning it takes me about 5-6 seconds at least before I can hit the end call button.
Hi,
I have some problems with the Power button and I would like to use the proximity sensor to turn the screen on and off.
Using the proximity sensor too much will burn it? If yes... do you have a time estimate for this?
Regards
I have a nexus 5 ( marshmallow). I have (stupidly) dropped it twice and the screen is quite damaged. When I receive or make a call the screen goes black. I can't access the touchpad, speaker etc. Very annoying. I am replacing the screen now but the question I have is whether I also need to replace the proximity sensor.
Is it related to my issue? Or will replacing the screen fix everything? The person that is replacing the screen is charging an extra £10 for the sensor if he can do both together. He says if it turns out I need the sensor afterwards it will cost £40 so I would rather do it in one go if I need to.
I have installed the Proximity Screen Off app but it makes no difference.
Thanks

There is a known issue with the proximity sensor not working correctly in Marshmallow for the Nexus 5 it is especially noticable when making or receiving calls.
You can see the complaints from other Nexus 5 users here https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/nexus/oqh-V37hgDM
This doesn't mean that your proximity sensor isn't damaged but the issue doesn't occur on Lollipop. If you can revert to Lollipop temporarily to test before you make your decision would be a better way to test if there is a problem with the sensor.
Is it even possible to replace just the proximity sensor on Nexus 5? I can't find any info about it
As I unbox n started using my brand new Samsung S8+, i am having this popup re the proximity sensor being blocked or something. Is this a firmware issue or hardware issue? Thanks if anyone is willing to entail their story re this matter, any fix would be of good help. Sorry if this question is being raised in this thread.
The proximity sensor is left to the earpiece, and right to the IR LED (the red IR sensor used with Iris scanner).
Is that area covered with anything? Screen protector, dust, whatever?

I find this popup whenever I take the phone out of my pocket. So because of that the proximity sensor is blocked? Its covered by my pocket. But what is the solution. Its draining battery.

That's odd, can not replicate.
Not an issue with software or hardware and its not draining your battery, LOL. It's a feature mate. You likely have "Keep screen turned off" enabled in your display settings. It uses your proximity sensor to turn off the screen for you if it senses that the phone is in a pocket or bag. I think it will throw up a dialog box if it gets triggered, that's probably what you're seeing.

Hi All,
Just wondering if the Always on Display turns off when the sensor is covered? For example when in your pocket? I'm just wondering as I seem to get a bigger battery drain when I have Always On Display turned on but alot of the time it's in my pocket where the sensor is covered? Cheers
