HTC A9 is working but the screen in blank. - HTC One A9

My friend dropped their A9 and cracked the screen slightly and at the same time the screen went blank. You could still call the phone and feel the phone vibrate when you use an incorrect finger on the fingerprint reader. It also gets notifications etc.
I've replaced the screen and I had thought that would fix the problem but the new screen is still blank. Again, I can ring the phone etc and that all seems to still work.
I've had a search on Google and while there are a few things about HTC phones with blank screens that have similar symptoms as their phone, I haven't been able to find a definitive fix.
Is there one or will the phone have to go back to the manufacturer for repair?

Black screen of death

The other day, I hit the power button on my touch pro, and the screen didn't come on. I did a soft reset, and it started working again. Now today, the same thing is happening, but a soft reset isn't helping.
The screen's back light comes on, the LEDs on the buttons come on, and the phone seems to be working fine. I hear all the sounds, including the HTC sound while it is booting, and the new message sound, but the screen stays black. It still recognizes touches, it just doesn't show an image. I want to do a hard reset, and will if I can get it to come one one more time, but its been about a month since I backed up my contact list. Lesson learnt there. I'm afraid it might be a hardware problem since I don't see anything while its booting either.
Anyone know if this is a known hardware issue with the touch pro? The phone is less then 3 months old, and I've been real careful with it. I haven't dropped it from more then 2 feet, and even that was onto carpet. Its the Verizon version if that makes a difference, and I'm running one of the NFSFAN roms. Its not the newest one, but rather the one posted on October 19th. I doubt its the rom, though, as I've been using it for around 2 months with no issues.
EDIT: Ok, I went into the bootloader to see if it was hardware of software. I figured if it was hardware, the screen would be black, and if it was software, it would be the rainbow. Sure enough, the screen stayed black. Hit the reset button, and the screen actually came on! Go figure. Went to do a backup, and the screen literally crapped out on me while I was watching it. Definitely a hardware problem.
similar with Touch HD... kinda
I've been having a similar problem with my Touch HD. The problem is very intermittent though and is sometimes hard to reproduce. The screen and phone will be working fine then once in a while when I push the power button to lock the phone, I'll unlock it and the screen stays black. I know that the phone is still on and even unlocked because pushing the buttons at the bottom makes the phone vibrate. The only consistency in reproducing the problem happens after I do something major on the phone such as making a phone call, browsing the internet, sometimes charging the phone. Other than that, I can sit here and push the power button all day and it'll come on and off with no problems. When the screen does go black I've taken the battery out repeatedly as well as repeatedly rebooted the phone until it comes back on. I've tried doing hard and soft resets to no avail. I've tried deactivating "turn off backlight if device is not used for" and "turn off device if not used for" without any resolve. After this I've even left the screen on (disabled backlight off) to see if it flickers or shows any sign of being faulty and it seems to be fine. I'm currently on Dutty's HD WM 6.5 Leo R5 WWE rom, but this has happened with two other roms (NRG, LIA). Other info include:
OS: 5.2.23016
Manila: 2.519192828.0
Radio: 1.14.25.24
Protocol: 52.64.25.34H
I guess the only consistent software has been my radio. Please help! Any advice would be awesome. I've tried google search and xda search without much help. Thanks

[Q] Screen is black but still reacts

The device is Samsung Vibrant.
So recently I replaced the screen and it has an annoying bright strip on its left side that randomly shows up from time to time, so I decided to reinstall the screen to fix it. After doing that the screen would stay black but it still reacts (it vibrates upon unlocking, etc)
Before I do anything else, I was wondering if anyone has encountered this and managed to make the screen work again, before I send it back. Thanks.
I think connection was failing and by replacing display it failed ...
yea probably. gonna send it back. thanks

[Q] Touchy touch screen

I have been having issues with my Droid 2 Global with the touch screen. From time to time it will go crazy and start typing or opening up apps. Sometimes it will open the apps around the lower part of the screen and other times it is an up and down motion that continues untill I lock the screen. Locking the screen will fix it sometimes others I have to pull the battery. I have had this issue with several Roms. I ran 2 different RCs of Venus and now I am running CM9. If anyone else has heard of this or knows something I can try please share the info. Thanks.
Yes, I had a very similar issue. My phone would detect screen presses around the bottom, usually near the unlock slider. It would actually cause my phone to open up my email and delete things on its' own. My only temporary fix was to lock the screen, try to wipe it off, and then unlock it again.
It's a hardware issue with the glass/digitizer, not a software issue. I fixed it by buying a replacement screen on eBay, and haven't had any problems since. If you do replace it yourself, make sure to do it in a clean environment with no dust, and save the tape that covers the speaker, or else dirt and dust will get inside the phone and make the screen look dirty.

Screen is black

At work yesterday my phone was fine..I pulled it out of my pocket during a break and the screen wouldn't turn on..then I noticed the backlight was on and I can feel the screen vibrate when I hit where the home button should be but no picture. I am able to hear notifications and use my moto360 to make phone calls etc but no picture just a black screen and backlight is on.. Using my nexus 5 currently but wondering if anyone else has experienced this..T-Mobile said they would replace it under warranty.

Hello.
I have the exact same issue, I got a phone with a broken screen, it only had black backlight, then I changed the screen with a new one and still the same thing happens. Tried with two screens.
After replacing the screen I repaired the software via Sony PC companion, but it didn't work.
Does anyone know what the issue is here? Is it a dead motherboard or something else? Just so that I know to stop trying to fix it.
My unit isn't under warranty anymore because it had physical damage so replacing it via Sony is a no go.
The phone boots fine, I get audio reading of menu options for the initial setup, even the touch works, I can select options but I have no image, only the backlight.

Touch screen doesn't work when device woken up (Intermittent)

I've got an intermittent problem - sometimes when I wake the phone up, the touch screen doesn't work. It happens when I wake it up with the power button, when someone calls, or when an alarm wakes up the screen. That means when the problem happens, I can't answer the call, or turn off the alarm (sometimes locking the screen and waking it up immediately works).
It doesn't seem to be affected by whether or not the phone is or has been charging, whether it's been in my pocket or the temperature of the device. I've not been able to discern a pattern at all. Once the phone is unlocked and the touchscreen is working though, it works perfectly. The problem never returns while I'm using it, only if I lock it, and only sometimes.
If I leave the screen on while touch is unresponsive, I can tell when it is responsive to touch again by a line that quickly flashes along the top edge of the screen. At that point, the screen operates entirely normally.
In what may be a related item, when I'm on a call, sometimes the proximity sensor doesn't work properly and the screen turns back on and starts working. I get off the call and find my phone in a different app.
Does the Nexus 5 use the proximity sensor while the screen is off as a way to weed out unintended touches while the phone is in a pocket?
I'm going to try and store it face up over the next couple of weeks and see if the problem continues, but I was hoping that someone might have some insight.
About the phone:
I cracked the screen over the summer and had it replaced, but I didn't have any issues with it at all until I installed Lollipop. 5.0.1 hasn't made a difference
