dbrand skin review - LG G5 Accessories

I've been using the dbrand skin in a spigen crystal shell case for about 3 months now and thought that's enough time to share some thoughts with you guys.
Dbrand skin: https://dbrand.com/shop/lg-g5-skins...BlENC0VVnGH0I6M49hJFhXEGleAefzd4aAooREALw_wcB
- canadian company
- shipping + tax comes out to be around $24 CDN for front + full back + camera coverage (you get a total of 3 camera lens skin plus they threw in few additional pieces for the bottom front and bottom back)
- material is 3M vinyl
Installation:
I installed everything except for the lens part because I saw a review on Youtube which noted that you can see part of the wrap when the wide angle lens is in use, and I use the wide angle all the time therefore I didn't bother. The whole process took me less than 10 minutes. Key is to use your hair dryer to soften the edges so it moulds to the curvature of the phone and also smooth out the edges in the end to make the skin feel like it has fused to the phone.
Quality:
The matte 3M material feels great in my opinion. It has some gritty texture to it so it's not slick like the phone as is on its own, so it really comes down to personal preference. For me, the priority is to protect the phone so I don't really care about the texture. The skin will definitely protect the phone from scratches, but because it has some thickness to it as well, I think it will protect the phone from potential minor dents. I did use the phone without a case for about a week or so while waiting for the case to arrive and the skin felt nicely stuck to the phone and there were no signs of corners lift. I can't speak to how it would have done over the long run as I drop my phone a lot and I've left it in the case since then, however the general comments that goes around is that this company makes good quality skins. I do take my phone in and out of the case quite a bit for when I fly my drone so that the phone fits in the phone holder of the remote control, and again no signs of lifting.
Customer service:
I have to comment on this because I have dealt with this company before when I had the Samsung Galaxy s7 and it was exceptional. I foolishly pressed the wrong button and selected the option "without button cutouts" for the front skin. When I received the skin, I saw that there was no button cutout, I contacted dbrand about it. They reviewed the order and told me that I likely selected the wrong option before checking out, but they replaced it anyway without any hassle. I even offered to ship back the one sent out to me, and they said it's not necessary. I guess that's the kind of customer service you would expect when you pay $30 for some stickers...but then again it was my mistake! lol Shipping was blazing fast, but then I am from Toronto where their office resides.

I was using dBrand skins with Spigen Ultra Hybrid clear case as well. Highly recommend that case. It didn't tear the skins when pulling case on or off while still being snug fit. The corner air cushion did work to protect the phone from dents during a couple of falls.
I also had a full 3D coverage Supershieldz tempered glass protector that didn't lift up with that case; it did lift when using a Poetic Affinity and entirely cracked with the Spigen Style case. Only other case that didn't tear skins or protectors was Spigen Hybrid Armor (but it didn't show the dBrand skin off.)

[REVIEW]Case Mate Tough + Clear Coat Screen Protector

After much consideration I went with the Case Mate Tough over the Otterbox Commuter.
24 Dollars from AT&T with 2 day shipping included.
Arrived in two days and I immediately went to put it on my phone.
I am extremely pleased with the case and find that it offers superb protection for my Inspire 4G.
The soft silicon inner case fits the phone like a glove and all of that snaps into the outer hard shell. Button functionality is just as it was out of the case and the shells go past the camera and screen so you can lay down your phone face down or face up and not worry about precious components getting scratched.
The only thing I dislike (and this is a bit of a personal OCD) is that after petting the inner case into the outer case there is still a little bit of space between the edges at the 4 corners of the case. It doesn't affect function or anything it just sort of bothers me that it's not like a perfect puzzle piece.

Clear Coat Screen Protector
Price Paid: 15$?
Took about four days to arrive.
Was extremely anxious to putting on.
But was disappointed.
Perhaps you won't be.
The clear coat is in fact what it's advertised to be. "Clear". Screen looks almost the same before and after. The only rainbow effect you get is when there's some oil or dust on the clear coat or between the clear coat and the phone.
so if you get it MAKE SURE YOUR PHONE IS ABSOLUTELY DUST FREE BEFORE YOU PUT IT ON.
As I've previously mentioned I have a bit of a personal OCD about this product as well. The case falls about 1/16th inch short to completely cover the screen.
I also hate the texture. Very cellophane like. I was hoping for a smoother screen. But I guess I'm just destined for Matte screen protectors and will be using those from now on.
However displeased I may be with this product, I find that it's mostly an issue of personal preference and I'm sure many people would be pleased by it.
two pieces for 14 dollars.
Life time guarantee replacement deal for like three dollars a piece.
Doesn't peel.
Easy to follow instructions.
Covers the screen (almost) entirely
Protects the screen well.
Can be reapplied.
Is clear.
Overall
Case Mate Tough: 9/10
Clear Coat Screen Protector: 6/10

Video Review: Diztronic Matte Black Snap Case

Hey fellas,
Got my hands on Diztronic's new Ultra Thin Snap on case, which they are using to expand their case variety with. As the name states, it is an ultra thin snap on case made of plastic - featuring a soft touch coating. Retailing at $10, there is very little reason not to buy one. The fit is perfect and the ports/cutouts are aligned well. The top and bottom portions are highly exposed however, meaning they are prone to scratching and/or cracks (through a drop).
The soft touch coating is wonderful, offering great grip - unfortunately it does tend to pick up quite a large amount of fingerprints and grease. For the price and what you're offered, you can't go wrong with the case.

My bad, I'll post the review on the other threads.

Review - Seidio Convert vs. Trident Aegis vs. Incipio Dual Pro

I went a little case crazy the last couple of weeks. I have had the Seidio Dual Pro since I purchased the phone in June, but have been looking for something more substantial. I tried the Otterbox Defender and returned it a day later. The lint and hair that gathers under the plastic screen was driving me nuts. If it was not for that and the creaking of the case when held firmly, I would have kept it and my search would have been over.
The Incipio Dual Pro is still my favorite as far as comfort. It is a simple dual layer case with a very thin silicon inner layer and a nice grippy outer shell. It slips in and out of pockets easily, but provides the least amount of protection. The lip is very shallow and provides just enough clearance you will not scratch the screen face down.
The Trident Aegis is in between the Incipio and Seidio regarding protection. It also follows the traditional setup of a silicon inner layer and hard outer case. It is noticeable thicker than the Incipio. The protective silicon layer is nearly twice as thick and the corners are heavily reinforced. The lip is also a bit deeper. I liked this case, but wanted something that felt more substantial; similar to an Otterbox, but without the screen.
So today my Seidio Convert arrived, and it is perfect for my needs. First off, it comes with two cases and a holster (the holster only works with the heavy case, but you can order a thin holster separately). The first case is the Seidio Surface. It is a snug fitting plastic case that is lined with a felt type of material. This case snaps together from the top and bottom and feels very secure. The grip is excellent. I work in many different conditions and grip is very important to me. I have dropped several phones over the years when my hands get sweaty. I have no worries with this one. I feel the protection is close to that of the Incipio Dual Pro.
When you need that extra level of protection you convert the Surface Case by adding a very heavy thick rubber silicon layer over the top of the Surface Case. Then clip on the plastic outer backing that holds everything together. The three layers combine to offer a level of protection that exceeds the Otterbox Defender, in my opinion. The lip is very deep. There is no way anything can hit the screen if you drop it on a floor or sidewalk. The holster is very high quality. They redesigned it a couple of years ago and have added a lock to ensure it stays in the holster. The only thing I would change is the pin they use on the clip. I would have preferred a metal pin over the plastic one. The icing on the cake for me is the built in kick stand. I video chat with my kids every day when they get home from school and the stand works perfectly for that. The stand is built into the surface case so you can use it both ways. The other unique feature I have not seen before is the cover for the camera. A rubber flap protects the lens and then folds back and clips into the case when you want to use the camera.
The larger heavier cases take a little getting used to, but the transition was no more difficult than when we all moved from small screen phones to the Galaxy S4, and the added protection for me is worth it. I hope this mini review is helpful for someone. I will try to add pictures this weekend if I get a chance.

[Q] Case vs. Skin vs. naked

Since the S6 is very slippery but very good looking because of the glass, do you use a case because you want to be safe or do you use a skin to retain the phones thin body or you prefer it naked without anything on and around it?
Skin and Case! :good:
Definitely a case with shock absorbing properties. I'm not spending close to a grand on a glass encased phone just so it can have cracks on it.
I think the phone is gorgeous, but use a Verus aluminum bumper in order to get low drop protection and camera protection while keeping the phone mostly original looking. If it weren't for the protruding camera, I've consider carrying the phone bare. (Though I would be concerned with slippage.)
For comparison, I didn't hate the looks the of the S4, but I wasn't thrilled with them either so I put a Spigen Neo Hybrid on, which gave it a look that I liked more, while still looking like a phone and not a case. (Most people I showed my S4 to loved it and didn't realize it was a case.)
I think it's interesting that you bring this up because I asked a similar question in the "show us your case" thread, and people took offense to what I was asking. My basic question was "Do you use big UAG/Otterbox cases merely for protection, or do you prefer the look over the look of the bare phone." I guess I worded it poorly, as I mostly got defensiveness of case choices. Hopefully your thread gets better responses.
(In my photo below, the difference in screen glare and body color is only from a difference in lighting - I used different setups on different days and didn't match the screen lighting. There is no "glare" from the Verus case.)

(Sounds to me like dropping the phone is a bad idea. )
That would be the risk to not having a potentially unsightly case.
Case + skin. case to protect from falls and skin to protect from scratches
Got both the uag maverick and ash case, prefer the ash on my sapphire black s6, and the maverick on a white s6 both look crazy awesome tho
I use a Dbrand skin and tempered glass screen protector in normal days. Just bought a spigen rugged armour as I'm gonna go on a 3 day camp and I don't wanna risk breaking it.
The dbrand skin should suffice for everyday use. It protects the rear glass from cracking if I ever drop it. And the tempered glass helps with the front glass. The only thing that is unprotected in the event of a drop is my sides.
It's your choice, do you like the feel of the S6 naked? Or would you rather have a cheap piece of TPU protecting it?
Also, if you choose to go naked/skin, the chamfered edges of the aluminium is very soft so it scratches rather easily. You can get a metal bumper to help with drop and impact protection on the sides.
Case. I would consider a skin, but the extra protection is nice. No way I'm carrying this phone naked. Then again, I never carry phones naked anyway.
Dbrand black leather skin on the back, otherwise naked. I hate cases, I'd rather pay for insurance and deductible for replacement than compromise the look and feel of a phone I like.
I just use screen guard both sides it looks and feels good
I had an iron shield on it but removed it about a week ago because the aluminum bumper was killing my GPS signal. Somehow in that week time I got a scratch on my screen. Make sure to put a screen protector on too!
Going naked. I did not pay $650+ to put this in a $5 case. I want to enjoy the phone as it was meant to be. I only have a tampered glass on top and that's good enough for me.

Have a skin - slickwrap at the back, a case and a tempered glass on front.

Review of Roocase Glacier Tough Case For S6

I received a case for review purposes from Roocase. I love it and I am using it as my daily case!
I had used an OtterBox case with my previous phone. The basic design of the Roocase is similiar; a soft inner shell and and a harder outer shell. But there are some important differences.
The Roocase has a built in screen protector, which is great. The back design includes raised surfaces at the corners to protect the camera when you lay the phone on its back. This is very well thought out and works great.
My favorite part is how the button (On/Off and volume) covers work. They are responsive enough that you don't need to really squeeze down as I had to with my OtterBox in the past, yet offer enough protection that I don't need to worry about keeping my phone in my pocket.
The case adds some size and weight to the phone, of course, yet the S6 still feels very comfortable in my hand.
A well designed and constructed case perfect for daily use.
My Amazon review is posted here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/customer-r.../ref=cm_cr_pr_rvw_ttl?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B00SIG5KFS
At least give us some real pictures.
Thanks for the review!
the built in screen protector is plastic with rainbow effect. The two part case is a pain to take apart. The hard poly-carbonate part is so hard and sharp I am afraid it will scratch my phone when I will try to take it off. The protection is good but I would rather pay more for a decent screen protector than go with this plastic rainbow laden built in screen protector. By the way I basically ruined he case while trying to take off the built in screen protector. that's my fault though.
Again very flawed design.
