S7 not recording in 1080p 60fps? - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

Can anyone please help me figure out if S7 (sm-g930f) truely records in 1080p 60fps? I've enabled FDH (60fps) and recorded some scenes using Pro mode. But when I imported the footages in Vegas Pro and Premiere Pro, they were in 23,976fps, not 60 fps. I've looked around to find answers but can't seem to find it.

Issue is likely with Vegas Pro and Premiere Pro, 1080/60 works fine on the S7 and plays back @ 60fps with VLC on PC, try that, it's easy to see the difference between 23fps and 60fps

Thank you for your information I was looking deeper ito this and found that all footages automatically records at 1080p 24fps when using FHD (60fps) in Pro mode. Whereas in Auto mode, the footages are at 1080p 60fps. So i guess it basically means I can't manually control the iso, shutter speed and white balanse if I want to shoot in 1080p 60fps :*(

I wondered about Pro mode being the problem so test recorded FHD 1080 / 60 in Pro mode, and it did indeed record 60fps and play back 60fps no problem

My apologies, I failed to mention that I was using custom effects, not the standard color. And yes, you are right. I finally see that it shoots 1080p 60fps, using standard color profile/effect. Thanks again

Idk about witch thing are you talking about can you pls show me?
I am talking about Camera preview. The thing you see before taking photo or video is in 30fps. Also while recording in fulhd 60fps also you see it in 30fps. Later when playing in album you see it in 60fps
I fell like yes the camera is in 60fps in the preview
No way!
What use does it have. It only loads the CPU and GPU with tons of
unnecessary hassle...

How to record videos with 60fps on Xiaomi mi note3?

I have installed Google camera and it works well, especially taking photos with long exposure at night, really amazing
But i find it sucks when i switch to recording modeAlthough it offers 60fps, the quality of the video is really bad and not 60fps at all. You can easily tell the difference between 30fps and 60fps. And I have tried snapdragon camara, failed too, the same effect as google camera.
So, is there anyone who can enable that feature:highfive:
Thanks in advance

1080p Full HD @ 60fps video recording in MIUI 10

So i tried miui 10 stable and dev, however [email protected] is weird. One video is recorded in 20fps, second in 60fps, then third in 30fps. All recorded under same light conditions.
Can anyone test this and post results?
For me it seems 60fps works fine, but its way darker in low light than in 30 fps mode. Using open camera lighting is normal.

Download Media info app from Play Store and check if the recorded video is really 60fps. When I tried MIUI beta build last time, the 60fps seemed to work fine but then I checked and it was 30fps actually, it was just higher bitrate, something is messed up in the camera libs. It's 2018 and we can't have a proper 60fps video, great work Xiaomi, great.

How do you change video frame rate to 60fps.

OK, now I feel like a newb but this is my first Pixel device and the Google camera seems simple enough but I can't find how to set my video framerate to 1080p 60fps. I have it on 1080p and the only options I can find are on the top bar with color temp and flash and all it gives me is Auto and 30fps. Auto seems to go anywhere between 120 and 30 fps, I can't figure out the logic behind how it chooses. I really just want to lock it to 60fps for 1080p. Can someone help me out?

I turned off IS and am still not seeing it, I tried 720p too and nothing but auto and 30fps. Open Camera and Filmic both give me 60fps.
I'm thinking anything over 30 fps is "slow motion" only. Still looking around myself b/c I'd love the 240 fps for videoing my golf swing

The Pixel 2 camera has 240 in slow motion.
Sent from my [device_name] using XDA-Developers Legacy app
Woah. This is a near deal breaker here. I can't seem to find 60fps on my $850 phone.
Update I found the place where you set the framerate, but unlike the Pixel 2 (which shows 30 and 60), the Pixel 3 only shows Auto or 30. W. T. F. This "auto" icon is located in the lower left when in video mode.
For what it's worth, I've gotten near the proper framerate with 3rd party apps. Both Open Camera (free) and Filmic Pro (paid) hit 59.667 on 60fps mode. The proper framerate is 59.94 (60,000/1001). Filmic Pro can do an exact even 60fps too if you force the framerate. I may try to gen some answers from Google directly if I don't figure this out over the weekend.

I tried open Camera, and it looks like 30fps when I force 60fps. It just says about 30.095, Min 22.222 and max 43.103 in Media Info. This is fail.

Was wondering the same thing. Selecting info on a recorded video doesn't show framerate either.

Automatic FPS Switching
First, a new option to automatically switch FPS during video recording has been added. According to a Product Manager that we spoke to at the event, people have trouble deciding what the best framerate is before recording a video. This new feature lets the Google Camera app decide what framerate to record at – either 30 or 60 fps – depending on what’s on screen. The feature can even switch framerates in the middle of a recording. It doesn’t work with 4K videos, though.

Hold the phone horizontal and select video mode. On the lower left corner you will see a little icon "A". Touch this icon and you will see "Auto" or "30fps".

Great, so 30fps is working as intended on an $850 phone. Thanks for finding this gem. Glad I don't have to wait 6 months to a year for this quote from Google to find out it essentially will never be fixed. Hopefully they don't regress on the Pixel 2, because this isn't a improvement in my book. How about Auto, 24, 30, 50, 60 option on an $850 phone?
This is not acceptable.
I want to be able to lock it to 60fps, not to leave Google device the frame rate for me.
Guys, we need to send feedbacks via the Camera app and try to involve the media (@madebygoogle on Twitter).
That's the only thing we can do to hope they'll release an update enabling 60fps selection.

I just confirmed on their support chat that there is no option for 60fps, like we didn't already figure that out. They suggested going to 'settings -> about phone -> send feedback about this device' and sending feedback that way. I am already posting what I can on social media as well. Wish we could get this in the front page of xda.
I just used Open Cam set to 60fps and the Google Cam on auto to record the same scene and I must admit that they look identical. I cannot see the difference with my naked eye.

This is exactly my observation. Which means, this could be a limit of the new hardware and/or part of the Visual Core stuff which might be a harder thing to fix. We shall see how Google responds.
I think it will be "working as intended" or the hardware is limited to auto, because (insert some sort of white wash excuse). I would prefer darker video of 60 fps over brighter 30fps variable frame rate hogwash.
So today at my son's baseball game I used open Cam locked in at 60fps and goggle at 1080 auto and the open Cam video looks choppy and looks like it skipped frames. The Google Cam video looks very smooth like 60fps does. So I'm gonna say that Google Cam does a dang good job of chosing the best fps.
Video recording is an afterthought on the Pixel series. Stabilization is top tier, but everything else (image quality, audio quality, etc) takes a back seat. I'm actually not upset since I rarely ever record videos, and when I do, they are short clips at home that have ZERO production value. I'd be willing to be 95% of consumers are the same way.
Heck, have you noticed how every amateur video that goes viral on the news is shot in portrait mode and not landscape?! #PetPeve

hdr on android 9 working ?

i tried hdr on or off while in manual settings on the new photo app of android 9 but i see no difference, did i miss something or is it just disabled by sony on xz premium to force us to buy a new phone if we want hdr photo ? is there a hdr in video mode ? i also see no difference bewteen a 4k video on android8 and and android 9 (but there is no hdr toggle for video in android 9 so it does not seem available on xz premium ( by hdr video i mean raising the shadows and providing details in the highlights such as the sky and not the other hdr type that requires a hdr monitor)

oh i understand now, HDR for videos is not available on XZP its not a software thing, our device simply doesnt support HDR video recording.
as for photos, I dont notice a difference mostly, but I think auto includes auto HDR because also on oreo i didnt notice a difference unless its in outdoors with a lot of trees and colorful environment there could be a slight difference noticed

the snapdragon 835 can do hdr video capture( https://www.qualcomm.com/products/snapdragon-835-mobile-platform ) and the camera sensor is the same on xzp and xzp2 so it is just sony disabling features in older phones to force you to buy their latest phone. UPDATE : it seems the image pipeline was redone for xz2 premium so we are out of luck with our "old" xz premium if we want hdr video.
The XZ Premium can't record HDR Videos (4K)
But we got SDR TO HDR Conversion. It's the "new" video image enchantment. Sony support confirmed it on Twitter DMs. As the name says, it works on video and it can work on a few apps that they don't mention which.

I have tried it and so can you, I can confirm, here is how I tested:
watched the video on youtube
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1XTvrXLfheI&t=49s
was very very crisp and detailed but the video isnt HDR, so I gave it a shot and downloaded the video with 4k youtube downloader app on my PC and placed the video on my device, then watched it there, total different story mate!! I am so happy! I started flipping between recent's app going to youtube and back to the video app (or photo they both support it) while I was watching the same video on both, and I was shocked to see that its ALOT more colorful and dynamic in the video app than on youtube (set on 4k on youtube).
I was skeptical about it but now that I tried, I can confirm with full confidence that we have SDR to HDR!
try it your self and let me know if you notice it too

you are talking about hdr video playback, i am speaking about hdr video capture (but again not in a hdr video codec, just raising details in the shadows and the highlights by combining multiple exposures in a non hdr video codec, exactly what is done in hdr photo and like what you see here : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HgyR00UiWJE )
